Prologue
A/N: This is the first story I ever wrote with an original idea for the plot, so I'm still trying to get the tones of this story right. This story came to be from the idea of endgame guardians from Destiny and what would happen if a pair of them went into the RWBY verse. This is the idea taken (not an intentional PUN) shape. I look forward to writing more.
Disclaimer: I do not own Destiny from Bungie or RWBY from Rooster Teeth, I only own my OC.
In the dead of night, many shadowy figures were running in the shadows as if they were fearing the storm ahead.
The sound of thunder emanated from a single step from an armor-clad boot. The many figures stopped almost instantly, staring in the direction of the sound in a panic. Arms were raised, guns loaded, and blades of all kinds lifted into the air as if trying to warn the storm to leave them be. Unfortunately, the storm was there for them.
"You know, we've destroyed hundreds of their bases and killed hundreds upon thousands of them, and yet they just keep coming." A caped figure sighed and asked the Titan beside him, "How many more do we have to deal with until we can rest and go home?"
The behemoth of a man glanced back at the Hunter before focusing on the settlement. A hollow voice responded, "We are Guardians. We don't rest. The only time we can rest is when we die our final death."
"We have a long road ahead of us then. Alright, let's go get rid of the last remaining devils that just so happened to set up camp," the Hunter said as he became engulfed in golden flame.
"Bio, make sure you leave the slaves and anyone that doesn't attack alive. Just because they were our enemy once doesn't mean they still need to be."
The Hunter named Bio scoffed. "I know, I know. I'm not just going around shooting anything that moves, but you need to be careful down there. You're the one going for that fat Kell."
"Wait, can you explain why I'm fighting the boss by myself again?" Oni asked.
"You simply drew the short straw."
"What straws?"
"The ones we had drawn on that mission." Oni just looked confused. Bio clarified, "The one after we helped Eris on the Leviathan?"
"You mean the one I wasn't there for?" Oni asked. "That was Haze filling in for me."
"Oh. Well, you Titans always look the same. Bulky shoulder group."
At that very moment, the Titan conjured a lightning bolt to come down and strike him, causing sparks to pulse and dance all over his armor. "Well, it's time to go to work," Oni said to his companion as he jumped off the hill they were residing on, streaking towards the camp.

The small enemy encampment was reduced to nothing more than a few smashed and melted stone walls and some forcibly crashed ships. In the center of the former camp were many freed Fallen and Cabal slaves discussing the aftermath with the two Guardians standing away from the crowd.
"So what did you find?" The Hunter asked.
"Not much, just that the Kell Bar'Krax was killing anyone trying to join the House of Light or turning them into slaves. Stopped that real quick," Oni replied. "What about you? Find anything about the shards?"
"Ha! I didn't just find out where they were!" Bio exclaimed smugly.
"Where they were? No way! There was no way they kept the shards here! They couldn't have been that idiotic, right?" The Titan cried out as he leaped up and started pacing around the area.
Bio simply watched with laser intent as four items transmatted into his open hands. The Titan stopped moving at the sound of a transmat firing and stared at the hands of his companion, mouth gaping. Blinding bright white light shined through the fingers of one of Bio's hands while ever-consuming darkness leaked and poured out of the other.
The Titan only said three words in response to this spectacle. "Oh my God".
"Yep. A pair of shards from the Traveler and a pair from the Darkness. Honestly, I can't wait for the look on Vuvuzela's and Miss Chemotherapy's faces," said Bio as the shards were retransmatted away into his Ghost's backpack for safekeeping.
Oni, snapping out of his shocked trance, looked at Bio with a mild case of disappointment. "You know one day they are going to beat the ever-living shit outta you, right?"
"Yeah, I know, but at this point, it's a game. If they kill me, I win."
"Next time you die, I'm not helping your Ghost revive you."
"I wouldn't be surprised otherwise."
After their little banter, Oni noticed a group of Fallen and some Cabal psions playing what looked to be the pre-Golden Age game of soccer with the small twist of invisibility and mind powers. 'You know, I don't think that's how you play soccer. I wonder if-' His thoughts were interrupted by a three-fingered hand grasping his shoulder. Jumping and pulling a flaming sword off his back in a lightning-quick action and aiming it straight at the perpetrator, he noticed a captain wearing gold armor with purple lines. The Titan just sighed, then reattached the sword to his back before addressing the Fallen captain.
"Oh my God, Mithrax. I need you to stop scaring me," Oni said while watching Bio rolling on the ground, crying with laughter.
"Sorry old friend I was… doing a joke?" Mithrax said with a questioning tone.
Bio, finally getting off the floor, responded, "Close, but it's usually phrased as 'playing a prank', you old Kell. It's good to see you. How have you been?"
"I have been well, Hunter… I just got called when I was sleeping and heard of many freed slaves, so I came to assist and take them to their new home."
"Good, so you're going to take them to the city?" Bio received a nod from the captain. "And you have transport for all of them?" This gained another nod from the captain. "Good, because even with Ghaul's ship that I stole, I don't think there is enough space for all of them."
The two Guardians noticed something wrong with the captain. It was as if he was nervous. Bio was the first to ask. "Has something wrong happened, Kell of House Light?"
Mithrax looked towards Bio before pulling out a hologram showing an audio waveform.
"My Splicers have found a sound… a signal coming from the edge of Sol."
"What kind of signal Mithrax?" Bio questioned the Fallen Kell.
"We don't know. The Titan Kell and the Warlock Kell found out that the source is natural, like the pulse of a star."
"And I'm guessing that the Vanguard wants us to go investigate this… anomaly," Bio summarized.
Oni said, "And I'm going to guess that others have received the signal too, so most likely-"
"No," the Kell interrupted the Titan.
Oni glanced with a tilted head at Mithrax and spoke with confusion "No? What do you mean no?"
At this moment, the Ghosts of the duo appeared. "We only found the signal because it was directed to the Traveler, Guardian," the Ghost that looked like a Vex harpy told the Titan.
"Well, good morning to you too, Little Light," Oni greeted, only to get a scathing glare from his Ghost, or as devastating as her small eye could allow before she turned and looked at the other Ghost in the group.
The Hunter asked his Ghost, "Scales, is that right? Did they find the signal because of the Traveler? How did that happen?"
The Ghost named Scales bobbed up and down with a shell made of what seemed to be dragon scales. "Yes and no, Guardian. It's more accurate to say we intercepted it on its way to the Traveler. That's why Light and I didn't come out until we were finished reading the origin of the signal."
"I just thought you guys were asleep," commented Bio.
"We don't sleep," Little Light retorted. "And before you ask 'Why do we have to go?', it's because Bio stole a craft that can get to the edge of the system with a single jump."
"That's completely nonspecific! I've stolen a ton of ships!" Bio exclaimed.
"You're talking about Ghaul's flagship, right? The Immortal?" Oni asked, gaining a nod from his Ghost. The Titan groaned. "Sometimes Bio, I regret letting you steal that ship."
The Hunter simply shrugged at the statement, as if to ask 'What can you do now about it now?'
"So let me get this right. Something on the edge of our system sent a signal to the Traveler. and that warrants investigation." Oni looked at the Fallen and the two Ghosts and received a nod from all before continuing, "And we are the only ones available because of a stolen flagship courtesy of our local Hunter. Am I missing anything?"
"No, you're pretty much spot-on," said Scales.
"Well…" Oni pondered. "I have no reason to decline, so let's go exploring! Maybe there's some loot we can take!" Oni said with a chipper tone before walking to his landed ship.
The two Guardians boarded their respective jump ships. The Titan was using an old Vex ship called the Aspect of Glass and the Hunter was using a ship covered in SIVA called the Infected Seeker. As soon as they boarded their ships, many of the freed slaves waved their goodbyes to the undead duo. The ships lifted off the ground and streaked into orbit, heading towards a flagship that looked more like three bricks welded together.
Ten minutes later, on board the former Cabal flagship, the Immortal, the two Guardians were discussing what weapons and equipment would be needed if there was an event that required it.
"Honestly, we probably don't need weapons for this mission. It won't hurt us to just bring our primaries and leave the rest."
"The last time I didn't have everything on me was when the city fell, and I had to use greens and blues for most of that time. No thanks, I'm keeping all my main weapons on me," Oni countered while fixing a heavy gaze upon Bio.
"First of all, the city wasn't falling because you didn't have your weapons. Secondly, I agree with the idea of being prepared, but we aren't taking your entire vault with us, you damn hoarder. Only what your Ghost can carry. I'll do the same just so that we are prepared for whatever comes our way."
Oni quickly glanced at Bio. "Fine. Quick question. Where did you put the shards, Bio?"
The Hunter took a look of contemplation. "I think I left them by the armory? Or… by the jump core? No, wait. They are definitely in the armory. One hundred percent sure."
"..."
"I'm serious, the shards are in the armory." Oni shook his head at Bio's antics, and before he could scold him, a voice chimed in on the ship's PA system.
"We will be jumping in the next three hundred seconds towards the signal. I repeat, we will be jumping in the next three hundred seconds. Please head to your stations." Little Light's voice echoed throughout the empty hallways of the ship.
"She knows we're the only people on this ship, right?" Bio asked with a slightly disbelieving voice.
"She likes to get in character… like really in character," the Titan elaborated to his brother in arms. "But we should probably head to the bridge now. Who knows what kinds of monstrosities that Little Light will release on us."
The Titan took a second to reevaluate his arsenal. On his hip was a holster holding a hand cannon, with the engravings of a black spade on one side of the gun and a rooster on the other side. This was the appropriately named Ace of Spades, which he had gotten after avenging the Hunter Vanguard. On his shoulder was a red and black compound bow with golden highlights. Two butterflies were delicately painted on it, and the arrowhead tips dripped purple with deadly venom. This was Le Monarque, found from the Golden Age weapon forges, and one of his favorite weapons. Finally, strapped to his back was what looked like a simple old-fashioned broadsword. White-hot flames curled around the blade and licked the sides, constantly sending out small embers, as if the sword itself was hungering to be used in battle. The sword was a gift, one the Titan would most likely never part with, forged by his adopted father and mentor, Lord Shaxx. He called it Apollo's Ignis.
The Hunter took a look at his collection as well. Hanging from a strap on his shoulder was a lever-action rifle. It was wooden with gold ornamentation and had a very worn and rugged look. This was the Dead Man's Tale, which he had acquired on a mission responding to a distress signal from a Ghost on an imperial Cabal warship. On his hip was a very special weapon to him. It was the single oldest weapon in his collection that he still used, and he loved it greatly. It was a single-shot break-action grenade launcher, with a roaring lion's mouth right on the end of the barrel. This was the Fighting Lion, named for its design and efficacy in combat. He couldn't remember where he'd found it, but he had found it, and he would be keeping it. Last but definitely not least, the largest item on his body was a single spear strapped to his back, glistening like the night sky. This was Deus Bane, a beautiful weapon created by combining a shard of the Hive gods Oryx and Savathûn, a mix of Cabal and Vex technologies, and some flakes from the tree of silver wings with an outstanding amount of concentrated light, and it was the strongest weapon in Bio's collection. He went nowhere without it, even when a mission required him to pack lightly.
After looking at their weaponry, the two Guardians headed for the bridge of the Immortal.
-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-At the Immortal's Bridge-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-
The bridge of the Immortal had a very utilitarian design, with a large viewing window showing a dark void with thousands of specks of light floating endlessly through it. The inside of the bridge wasn't so barren, containing some knick-knacks and banners from past missions and a few gifts from the people of the last city.
The duo arrived at the bridge with half a minute to spare until the jump. The two Guardians walked to the main control console where the two Ghosts were conversing with each other about the intricate calculations for the process of a jump before Oni interrupted with a question.
"So why haven't we jumped yet, Lil' Light? From what you said on the PA system, we should be gone."
"Well… You see, there is a small probl-"
"We can't move the lever to start the jump," Scales interrupted Little Light. "Probably because it was made for space rhinos, as you may recall."
The duo just chuckled at their Ghost's antics before Oni walked up to the lever and asked his Ghost, "This one, right?" When Little Light nodded, he pulled the lever, only for nothing to happen.
"Weren't we suppo-aaahhh!" Oni was interrupted by the ship shaking like it was hit by a massive asteroid. Bio was flung into a wall with enough force to embed him in the metal wall, knocking him out almost immediately. "Bio!" Oni screamed, holding onto a nearby railing and waiting for the shaking to stop. When it did stop, he wasted no time pulling Bio out of the wall and strapping his unconscious body to a chair.
Little Light appeared in front of Oni with the most concerned look in her eye he had ever seen. "THE JUMP DRIVE IS SPINNING UP AND WE CAN'T STOP IT!"
Oni looked on in horror, before taking a deep breath, steeling himself, and addressing his Ghost. "Calm down, Light. Tell me what's wrong with the drive and how I can stop it."
The Ghost's voice lowered a couple of decibels but retained the urgency in its tone. "Those shards that Bio left in the engine room have attached themselves to the jump drive and are causing tons of anomalies!"
"Engine room? Damn it, Bio, you said you kept them in the armory!" hissed Oni, looking up at Little Light. "Well, what can I do to stop it?"
"You can't!"
"What?! What do you mean I can't?!"
"I mean the temperature in the drive core is 20 times hotter than the Sun! Your body will be incinerated before you can get a step into the room!"
"Fuck! So what the hell can we DO?! Just wait for our deaths?!" A look of disappointment smeared across Oni's face before turning into a wicked smile. He ran and quickly smashed every button in front of him. "Fuck it. If you got a problem, improvise until something works."
Little Light stared at Oni, then turned around and slammed herself into a wall repeatedly. "We are going to die here and it's all your fault."
"Bio's fault. Anyway, trust the process," Oni said while walking up to the last lever. "Ready, Light?" Little Light just nodded at her Titan, who in turn slammed the lever down, causing the entire ship to shudder. Lights flickered on and off rapidly and computer monitors around the bridge displayed rapidly scrolling alien code.
Oni heard Little Light ask, "What is that?" He turned and saw his Ghost staring out of the viewing window, then followed her gaze. Upon seeing what his Ghost was looking at, his face paled. In front of them was what seemed to be a white and black tear in the void that was growing bigger every second.
'No that isn't right,' Oni realized. 'It's not getting bigger, we're getting closer.' With that thought, he frantically looked for the emergency thrusters, but it was too late. As soon as the Immortal entered the tear, a massive shake flung Oni into the wall behind him. The amount of force on the Titan's body was causing his vision to swirl, and the last thing he saw before losing consciousness was a shattered Moon in the night sky.
