300 Days since the "Immortal's" disappearance
She was in pain. She had been experiencing it ever since that fateful day when she lost her parents to the largest and rarest Grimm she had ever seen. Since that day, she had been by herself, moving from town to town, having to forage off the land or resort to stealing just to have a small meal. She hated the latter as taking something from anyone would feel like a dark pit was opening in her stomach, so she would avoid it most of the time. But the current pain she was feeling wasn't from her past scars or emotions, but rather a more present threat in the shape of a steel cage.
It had all started one day while she was in the lower parts of the city of Mistral. She had been walking down the street looking for anything edible to buy with the meager amount of Lien she'd been able to gather, either as payment for odd jobs or donations from people who pitied her. She had been looking at a particular food booth that was selling some strawberry goodness mixed with some chocolates, the thought of consuming something so divine having her drooling like a waterfall.
However, while she was enraptured in the fantasy of eating something that sugary, she didn't notice the group of men that were stalking her. By the time she did notice, it was far too late for her to do anything but struggle against her captors as they wrapped their hands over her mouth and throat while dragging her to a dark alleyway away from prying eyes. After being pulled into the alleyway, her memory went blank. When she had woken up, she was in the camp of these bandits, where she would be trained ruthlessly into becoming one of them.
Three months. It had been three long, grueling months since she had been taken off the streets by these bandits. The Nords, as she came to know them, were quite a small bandit clan that praised itself on being able to make the best fighters, allowing them to be uncontested in the wilds of Anima.
During her forced stay with the bandit clan, she had experienced pain and misery on a level she didn't previously know existed. Every day they would "train" her, but the Nords would starve her so she couldn't fight back. She would just be beaten into a pulp, all day, day after day. She would sleep in a cold steel cage when she showed any defiance against her captors. Every night, she was forced to sleep by her "trainer", a woman with gold and white face paint. Even though the torture she endured was excruciating, a small piece of hope remained, and with this small amount of hope, she remained unbroken.
The Nord clan was furious that the small child they had taken had still not fully broken from all the abuse they had inflicted on her from the start. All of their treatments done to the 7-year-old girl to make her obey had been failures. Because of their lack of progress in controlling the girl, the leaders of the group, mostly older established members, decided to meet and discuss the next course of action.
"The silver-eyed child, while a great boon to the clan, has yet to be truly broken and molded into a warrior," said an elderly man with blue and white face paint. "We need her to be our best fighter to ward off the incoming storm."
A younger member with red and black face paint scoffed. "What's so special about her silver eyes? Don't tell me they can disintegrate the Grimm on sight," he said sarcastically before continuing. "And what coming storm are you talking about? If you mean someone is targeting us, why don't we just find this group and take them out ourselves?"
"..." A very awkward silence hung over the group.
"You're serious." Red-and-Black's eyes widened in realization, before narrowing again. "Wait, how do you guys know this is even true and not just some made-up fairy tale?!"
The only female member in the group was the one that was training the little girl, the sadistic teacher with the gold and white face paint. "We know it's true because the founder of this very clan was a silver-eyed warrior. From what we have learned from his journals, he was the strongest among the first of the clan. Even the soulless monsters ran with tails tucked between their legs. We need her because we need someone as strong as our founder was to ensure the clan's place."
"And something is coming for us," the Elder Blue-and-White said cryptically. "15 days ago the Otto Clan was decimated. Barely anyone made it out."
The room became deathly silent in the wake of the news. The Otto clan rivaled the Nords in the amount of territory they controlled and their reputation as a warrior tribe.
"Did your semblance tell you this, Elder?" Red-and-Black asked in a serious tone.
"Yes, my semblance, AllSight, showed me the last of their people and what remained of their camp." The Elder explained to the group.
"Did you see who did it?" Gold-and-White asked.
"No. I tried to look for the attackers, but all I saw was an ocean of bright white light with spots of pure black floating within."
"Impossible. No one has ever evaded AllSight," Red-and-Black spoke with skepticism. "Have you tried to see this attacker recently? They can't hide from you forever."
"I'll try again but remember that it drains me considerably. I won't be able to see for a few days after this."
The Elder took a deep breath and closed his eyes before he started to glow a dark blue. The others watched as his aura started to be drawn to his eyes, and the Elders' semblance started to work.
When the Elder opened his eyes he was no longer in the tent used for meetings in the clan but in a place surrounded by metal walls and filled with orange lights that seemed to flow across the walls. He looked down, expecting to see nothing, only to see his fully formed body shrouded in ghostly blue wisps. The Elder was confused. The better his semblance worked, the more danger he was in, so having a full body as opposed to only his eyes was extremely concerning.
Although he was occupied with the effect of his semblance, he started walking, trying to figure out where he was. He took a step in this alien place, wondering where he was.
"Atlas? No, this place has no Atlas or Mantle symbols." He walked towards what looked like a door and was surprised when it opened by itself. When he looked down the hall, his gaze caught something that thoroughly confused him. It was a banner that displayed a symbol resembling a hexagon composed of two diamonds and two triangles.
"I've never seen anything like this in all my life. A new faction? No, someone would have heard something of this nature," the Elder contemplated. He quietly moved down the hall to another door, which proceeded to open like the last one. The room he arrived in was much more colorful than the previous ones, with more banners and what appeared to be trophies from slain enemies. The room also had many monitors around the area with words and symbols he couldn't understand.
"What is this place?" The Elder asked himself in a quiet mumble.
A grizzled voice came from behind the old man. "It's my command room."
The old man spun his body in a complete 180, almost giving himself whiplash looking for the body the voice belonged to. A ways behind him, he spotted a massive armored man. The closer the Elder looked at the man, the weirder the man looked to the Elder. His arms and legs were not the traditional plate mail he had known but had wires running down his forearms and up to his knuckles with what looked to be many angled plates following the wires. However, what truly shocked the Elder was the helmet the man wore. It appeared fractured, with pure purple light flowing out of the cracks. Two horns made of the same pure light adorned the top of the helmet.
"Yes, I can see you. I'm not a T. rex. Standing still won't help you here."
"Who are you?"
"Me? I'm just a simple Guardian doing my job," the armored man said as he walked to a table.
'Guardian? Must be another name for Huntsman,' the Elder thought. "And what is your job, Guardian?"
The armored man only gave a dark chuckle before answering. "Oh, my job is really simple. I ensure the continued survival of humanity, which includes taking out garbage like bandits, criminals, and slavers." He spat out the last part with so much venom that the Elder unconsciously took a few steps back.
The Titan looked up at the shadowy figure and spoke in a tone of pure rage. "Slavers like you, right? I know you took that girl away to your little clan. And what did you do to her?" The flowing light from the Titan started to gain a red hue.
"A fucking child, with no one to look out for her, and you kidnapped her! You beat her and tortured her for the sake of the betterment of your clan!" The Guardian's voice boiled over in rage. "What gave you the right to take kids away and turn them into killers?! Who gave you the damn right?!"
The Elder, not so easily cowed, bit back. "We did. We earned the right to do whatever we want because we are strong! We have killed and conquered many who were weak, and-"
"You're right," said the Guardian, cutting the Elder off.
"What?" The Elder could only look confused at the comment.
"You're right that you're stronger than a little girl, and you're right that the strong make the rules."
Before the Elder could retort against the Guardian, the Titan continued to speak.
"So I want you to know that what I do to your home and family is justified simply because I'm stronger. I want you to watch as I burn down everything you know, just because I could," the Titan said with an emotionless voice.
"Ha, you and what army?" The Elder asked in an amused tone as if he had seen this bluff before.
"Haha! Hahahahahaha!" The Elder looked confused and slightly shaken as the armored man burst out in laughter. The Titan continued to laugh at the Elder for a little bit.
"Hahaha, ohhh, sorry. I haven't had a good laugh like that in a while. It's just that that's what the leader of the Otto clan said before I killed him," the Guardian said in a reminiscing tone as if it was a good memory. "I didn't need an army for them, and I sure as hell won't need one for the likes of you."
The Elder was momentarily stunned by the words he was hearing. "You're a Huntsman. You can't just kill us, you need to take us in for the due process."
"That's where you're wrong. I'm no Huntsman, I am a simple Guardian of the light and humanity," the Titan told him before continuing, "meaning I am not bound by their garbage rules. 'Everyone gets a chance.'" The Titan scoffed. "What a load of crap." The Guardian spread his arms. "But because I'm a very generous man, I am going to give you one single chance. Stop your bandit ways and free all your slaves, or everything you know and love gets destroyed."
The Elder pondered for a few seconds. How could this man before him come out of nowhere and start making demands? He even claimed he single-handedly destroyed the Otto Clan. The Elder decided that he wouldn't believe the words of some random man.
"No, we won't back down," the Elder declared before he started preaching. "We Nords are a proud people that have never backed down from a fight. We have survived all hardships that have come our way, and we will survive you. You are nothing but a bluffing man."
The Titan only sighed, before walking to a table with a big red button. "So be it," the Titan said as he pressed the button, causing dull thunks to emanate from the walls.
"What did you do?" The Elder asked.
"Started this fight," the Titan responded, before turning around with a clenched fist overflowing with white light. He lifted his hand towards the smoky figure of the Elder and opened his fist. The light raced towards the Elder's shadowy figure, burning away the shadows that made up his form. The light, which had already burned away most of the Elder's form, left only his severed head in a contorted expression of horror, silently screaming. It too was burned away a second later.
When the smoke from the Elder dissolved into nothing, the Titan raised an open palm, his Ghost appearing with a purple transmat effect.
"Inform Bio that he's green to begin," Oni said to his Ghost.
"Will you be going down there too?" Little Light asked his Guardian.
"Of course. I can't let Bio have all the fun," Oni proclaimed while walking towards a room labeled 'Drop Pods'.
()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()
The Elder noticed three things when he opened his eyes. The first was that he wasn't dead. The second was that he was in the same tent he was in before he had used his semblance. The third was that everyone around him was panicking about something. Before he could ask what in the brothers' names was going on, a massive explosion made its presence known to all.
"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?" The Elder cried out to the other panicking Nord members.
"Elder! Oh, Elder, you're back!" The woman who was training the girl exclaimed, her voice full of worry and fear. "We were so worried! You weren't responding to anything that we did."
"Don't worry about me." The Elder brushed off the people with him before asking them what was happening. "Instead of worrying about an old man, tell me what is going on."
Red-and-Black took the lead in explaining the situation to the confused Elder. "While you were in the trance your semblance puts you in," he said before taking a deep breath, then continued, "the north and east walls have been destroyed by explosions. The cause is unknown. We think it was Atlas or some of those huntsmen, but we haven't seen any Atlas forces around the area. We have also been holding back the Grimm, but that won't last forever."
"Then what are you doing? Make sure no attackers got past the walls. Keidor, get out there and bring that silver-eyed girl. We'll force her to use her eyes against whoever is attacking us." the Elder said, looking at Blue-and-White, who nodded and made his way outside to the cage containing the girl.
The man named Keidor made his way towards the cages, all the while avoiding flames that had spread. He had barely made it halfway to the cages when he was struck by what seemed to be a shard of dark blue ice. Before Keidor could react, the shard of ice expanded into a sphere. A vortex from the center of the sphere pulled him in while simultaneously freezing him.
It only took a little over a second for Keidor to be frozen solid; he couldn't even scream for help. The Elder and the top Nord members watched as Keidor ceased moving before they could even utter a word. A figure cloaked in black dived into the frozen statue of Keidor, shattering it into a fine mist.
The figure slowly got up from his crouched position, still having his head hidden away. The cloaked man brandished a broken-looking hand cannon. Unknown to the Nords, this hand cannon was the Malfeasance, a malicious weapon crafted with the heart of an Ascendant Primeval Servitor.
"No one is going anywhere," the figure said, leveling the blighted weapon onto the nearest clan member and firing five rounds. The clan member's aura manifested and thickened into a solid shield, covering his body. To the amazement and horror of the witnesses, the white slugs weren't deflected by the aura. Instead, the rounds burrowed into it. Seconds later, the first four slugs detonated, causing a sound reminiscent of broken glass. The fifth and final detonation was clearly lethal, shown by the baseball-sized hole where the clan member's heart used to be located.
"Huh, only five shots," the killer said offhandedly. He then pulled his hood down, revealing a helmet extremely similar to the Guardian the Elder saw. A fractured helmet, with light overflowing from the top, creating two horns of dark blue light, but this one was slimmer than the last one.
"You're with that man who called himself a Guardian, aren't you?" The Elder called out while coming out of his stupor.
"Oh, so you've seen Oni?" The Guardian asked in surprise before his tone mellowed into something like remembrance. "Yeah, Oni and I are Guardians, and we have been working together ever since I became a Guardian. We've had some good times." He said the last part with a joyful tone.
Red-and-Black ground his teeth at this display of nonchalance and the ease with which the man had killed one of his clan members, especially one that he was quite fond of.
"I'll make you regret that! Nobody gets away with murdering my people!" Red-and-Black screamed out, pulling out a halberd with what looked to be a rifle barrel coming from the center. He aimed the deadly pole at the Guardian.
"Who are you?" the Guardian asked.
That was the last straw for Red-and-Black, for he let out a mighty war cry, screaming his intentions, and swung his large halbert straight down at the Guardian with the intent to cut him in half.
Bio watched as the man with red and black face paint swung his halberd, or was it a poleaxe? He didn't know the difference between the two. He snapped out of his thoughts and sidestepped to the left before the blade could bisect him.
"You missed, but better luck next time!" Bio taunted before kicking into Red-and-Black's side, causing him to slide on the ground for around four meters. Red-and-Black stumbled up onto his feet, his aura flaring red at the area Bio had kicked. He knew from that simple interaction that his opponent was like nothing he had ever fought before. He knew he might even lose, and that was enough for him.
"This is it!" Red-and-Black exclaimed, causing Bio to tilt his head in confusion. "A new battle, a new fight! This… this is why I live!"
"I swear I kicked you in the ribs, not the head," Bio mumbled to himself. Internally, Bio asked Scales where this guy's brain was located just to make sure he didn't scramble it, only to receive a sigh and murmur asking "How did I get this Guardian?"
A small smirk appeared on Bio's face due to his Ghost's rambling. He turned back towards Red-and-Black, noticing the crazed grin that was on his face, spanning from ear to ear.
"This is going to be so fun!" Red-and-Black announced to the whole world. He stood up to his full height and started to glow a bright red, in contrast to the dark red that his aura was before.
Before Bio could make a snappy comment, a fist impacted into his chest with the force of a truck, flinging him into a tent that was partially ablaze.
"Ow… did I just get physics-ed?" Bio groaned while getting on his feet and out of the remains of the tent. "God, I hate this planet." He dusted himself off and removed a piece of wood that had embedded itself into his arm.
"Stupid physics breaking children," Bio mumbled to himself. "Stupid darkness animals. God, I really, really hate this planet."
Bio's instincts flared up, causing him to unconsciously dodge an incoming attack. Glancing at his attacker, he saw the same person that he had kicked earlier now emanating red lightning.
"Hello, Red. You're fast, aren't you?" Bio taunted. "I want you to meet my boop cannon." The Hunter pulled out what looked to be a white mechanical claw. A large purple wave of energy came from the claw and crashed into the very aptly named Red, launching him backward a few meters. However, he landed on his feet and immediately rushed back, knocking the weapon out of the Hunter's hands.
Bio jumped back and jumped again in the air, creating a distance large enough for him to react to Red's speed.
"Coward! Stop running and fight me!" Red-and-Black screamed.
"You can't win against me, kid. Just give up."
"You say that even though you haven't hurt me. Give me a good battle, you damn asshole."
Bio smirked under his helmet. "If you want a battle, then I shall grant you a worthy one."
The Hunter gently pulled a rod of starlight off his back and raised it to his head, showing it off as a spear. Bio wound up and threw the spear at Red with as much force as he could.
As Bio watched the spear rocket towards his target, he activated his semblance, causing his perception of time to slow down to a crawl. He could still move unimpeded in this slowed-down world, making it seem that he had super speed to everyone moving in time normally.
Red-and-Black stepped past the spear so he wouldn't turn into a pincushion. He watched the spear as it dug into the ground and turned away from it, looking for the Guardian that threw it, only to find nothing there. He was confused about where his opponent could've gone. The Guardian couldn't have possibly moved from his position, and yet he wasn't there.
As soon as Red's semblance turned off, he felt a sharp and warm pain in his upper left arm. He looked down to see a hand pushing a knife farther into his arm. Red quickly spun around, forcibly pulling the knife out of his arm while making some distance from his attacker, only to realize it was the Guardian.
"Ok, what the hell," Red voiced out, before asking "How many more semblances do you have? Because I've seen three."
The Hunter stood up with his spear in his right hand and the knife in the other. He acknowledged the question asked with a tilt of his head.
"Is having multiple semblances rare?" The Guardian asked, confused.
"Of course! Having multiple semblances is suicidal! The soul can only take so much before it breaks," Red explained with a confused tone.
"Ah, that's actually helpful knowledge," Bio responded, confused why Red was so forthcoming with this information. "Why are you sharing this with me? I mean, we are still enemies."
"Heh, it's just a fight to the death. Why make it personal?" The Guardian looked confused at the question for a second before coming to a realization.
"Heh... Hahaha! I get it!" Bio yelled out "It's an act! You never cared for these people, you just want to fight!"
Red grinned in confirmation and explained, "I only acted like I cared about them so they would allow me to fight. They never figured it out, and now they never will."
"Then I would like to know the name of my opponent that has so thoroughly tricked those around him," Bio asked with an impressed tone.
"Reilheart. My name is Reilheart, the War Chieftain of the Nords." He announced while bowing towards Bio.
"I am Bio, the Guardian of the last city and the first city," Bio responded to Reilheart, who only had a confused expression on his face.
Both of them lifted their weapons at each other and charged towards their opponent. Reilheart fired two rounds of his rifle halbert at Bio, only for him to shadestep out of the way and fling his spear with the momentum he had gained. The spear rocketed towards Reilheart, who tried to deflect it with the pommel of his weapon, only for Bio to appear in place of the spear with a flaming hunter knife in his hand, aiming at his neck.
The two combatants were blown apart by a large impact touching down right beside them. The dust kicked up by the impact created something like a smokescreen, whereby none could see. When the dust settled, all that was seen was a black spherical object in the field. The very same moment the final dust particles settled down, the ball pulsed and seemingly started to melt while folding in on itself.
As soon as the metal ball had finished compacting on itself, an armored figure was standing in the place where the ball was last seen. The figure looked taller and much bulkier than Bio and had differently colored armor, black and gold as opposed to Bio's mixture of black and gambit green. A mark made of weaving purple light hung from its hips.
The Titan looked towards Bio, whose body language clearly showed that he was annoyed by the actions of his fellow Guardian. Oni was confused on why Bio was annoyed, considering he had just dropped in like he said he would.
"Di-Did I do something wrong?" Oni asked while being glared at by Bio.
"You interrupted my fight," Bio replied in a monotone voice, trying not to show his displeasure.
"Oh, I thought I did something bad." Oni sighed while shaking his head in disappointment.
"Hey, can I get back to my fight now?" Reilheart asked, slightly annoyed. "I was having fun."
Oni looked towards the speaker and just pulled out a bow. Before Reilheart could react to the Titan, two arrows flew at him, striking his aura and bouncing off, but as the arrowheads had impacted his aura, they had sprayed out a purple cloud.
Reilheart immediately regained his senses and brought up his guard to fend off the surprise attack. He spotted the Titan slowly nocking another arrow.
Reilheart rushed the Guardian, weapon poised, ready to stab him through his chest, but he was forced to his knees by a sharp pain in his own chest and arm. The fighter lifted his arm to inspect it, looking for a wound, and gagged violently at what he saw. The flesh on his arm had taken on a sickly purple hue and started rotting, falling off in large, bloody chunks. He put a hand on his chest and flinched, feeling rotting muscle, blood, and viscera.
Reilheart was so fixated on his arm that he didn't hear the slow rhythmic steps heading towards him, didn't register that an armored hand had wrapped around his neck, and didn't feel himself get lifted off the floor by the Titan.
It took Reilheart five long, agonizing seconds to realize he was off the ground and was being strangled. The second he became aware of his position, he gritted his teeth and started to attack the Titan with everything he had, punching and kicking and struggling, his rotting arm spreading dead flesh and bone matter all over the Titan's armor.
Reilheart's best efforts against Oni hadn't budged the Titan holding him, not even slightly. The only action the Titan took was to slowly increase the strength of his grip around Reilheart's neck, causing his face to turn the same purple as his decaying arm.
"I grant you this last mercy as a Guardian," Oni said, squeezing hard enough to create the sound of bones popping and crunching. "May you rest upon your sins, now and forever."
Oni carefully lowered Reilheart's body, folding his arms over his chest. He grabbed Reilheart's weapon and put it in his hands, closing his cold fingers over it.
"Viking funeral?" Bio asked from the sidelines, tossing an incendiary grenade up and down in his palm.
"Go ahead." Getting all the confirmation he needed, Bio tossed the grenade close to Reilheart's body. They watched as Reilheart's body was slowly burned away until only ash and the smell remained.
Oni turned to Bio and issued some orders. "I'll get the child, you kill the rest."
"Any survivors?" Bio questioned.
"No, we don't gain anything from letting them live."
"Alright, no survivors." Bio walked away, intent on fulfilling his words.
Oni walked opposite Bio towards a large green tent.
"This tent is holding the light born, right?" The Titan asked the open air.
Right next to Oni, Little Light transmatted into existence with a purple light.
"Do you think so little of me?" The Ghost accused his Guardian. "Of course she's in there, I'm never wrong."
"True… but you do take hours opening a single door."
If the glare of the Ghost could create heat, Oni would've been incinerated long ago. The Titan just chuckled at his lifetime companion.
Oni walked up to the flaps covering the entrance, slowly moved them out of the way, and entered the room. The sight that greeted him made his blood boil, and he seethed with rage.
In the tent were stacks upon stacks of empty cages. Some of the cages looked brand new, while others looked heavily used by monsters, covered in scratches and bite marks. When Oni looked closer at the cages, he could see that each one held a small dog bowl.
"Not only do they steal children and force them into a life of hell, but they also treat them like dogs." Oni's knuckles loudly popped from how hard he was clenching his fists.
A small whimper caught Oni's attention, and his head snapped towards the noise. His eyes landed on a cage covered with a fabric tarp, but the whimpers emanating from within betrayed the illusion of emptiness.
When Oni got to the cage, he slowly lifted the fabric off and tossed it to the side. What he saw would forever be burned into his memory: a little girl laid in the cage in a fetal position, completely stark naked and unresponsive.
The rage and anger the Titan felt caused a small tear to open up behind him. The tear looked like the night sky, populated by thousands of stars. A humanoid being stepped out of the tear. The entity had a female body covered with what seemed to be feathers made of the stars themselves. She bowed her head while kneeling towards Oni.
A feminine voice with an air of royalty came from the figure. "My lord, what is your request?"
The Titan said nothing for a few seconds before looking at the entity. "Make sure none of them escape," the Guardian said simply.
"They shall not, lord Oni."
"Raven, be careful," the Guardian told the feathered entity.
"Of course, my lord," the figure said, bowing, then walked to the exit of the tent.
When Raven had exited, Oni turned back to the little girl in the cage. He crouched down and tapped the cage, attempting to rouse the girl from her sleep. When no response was shown, he gripped the bars on the cage and slowly pulled them apart. The sound of metal warping and snapping woke the slumbering child.
As the child woke up, she went on guard, as if she was trying to figure what she would suffer today. Oni stood in the same spot, silently watching as the girl looked around. The second she saw the hulking horned figure, she let out a fearful scream and backed up to the other side of the cage.
"Hey, hey, I won't hurt you. I just want to get you out of here." A gentle but powerful voice came from the Titan. "I dealt with the monsters. They won't be able to hurt you anymore."
Her eyes widened when she heard the words from the old Titan. She slowly scooted a few inches towards him, seeing if he would attack.
Seeing that the child was still fearful of him, Oni pulled his hands away from the child and cupped them near his body. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath in, and concentrated on his hands.
The little girl watched as Oni's horns started gaining a dark blue hue. She then moved her attention to his hand, noticing the ice forming on his fingers, but paying the most attention to the snowball forming in the center of his palm. It was joined by two more snowballs materializing in his hand, each one smaller than the last.
The Titan turned around and started to fiddle with the three different snowballs. Seeing that Oni was facing away from her, the girl slowly moved towards him trying to see what he was doing. When he started to turn back around, she backed away to her previous position.
"I have something for you," Oni said to her while motioning to his hands, which seemed to be covering an object. "I hope you like it."
The Guardian pulled one of his hands down, finally showing the object he had been working on sitting in his other hand. It was a small little snowman with twigs for arms and a goofy smile etched on its head.
Oni held the snowman out closer to the girl. "Come on, you can have it."
With a twinkle in her silver eyes, the girl slowly moved towards the small snowman. She got close enough to simply snatch it from Oni's hand, but she slowly reached out to grab it instead. The Titan didn't offer any resistance to her action.
"Why?" The child rasped out.
The Titan looked at her and sighed before answering. "Because it's my mission to save and protect others."
"Why me?"
"Why not?"
"…"
"Look, kid. I can't get you to trust me, but I will get you out of here no matter what."
The girl just looked up at the horned helmet with hope and confusion, as if she was waiting on something.
"I promise," Oni said while putting his hand out for the girl to grab. "I am Oni, a Titan of the last and first cities, and I don't go back on my word."
The girl reached out and grabbed Oni's hand, her eyes sparkling even more. She mumbled something that Oni couldn't hear."
"I'm sorry, I didn't hear you."
"My name is Summer. Summer Rose."
"Rose, huh? It suits you," the Titan said offhandedly, before reaching behind him and pulling out a white Hunter cloak. He quickly slipped the cloak onto Summer to cover her.
Summer wasn't expecting something to cover her so quickly. She gasped in fear, then looked up at Oni, who was nodding at her new choice of clothes.
"Looks good on you, kid. Try not to lose that, it's not mine," Oni told her.
"Whose is it?" Summer asked.
"It's Bio's. He's my brother," the Titan answered. "Now, let's get out of here. You might wanna hold on."
Summer grabbed Oni's hand. "Wha-?" Before she could finish her thought, they transmatted away in a flash of pixelated light.
