The Never Ending Rain
Chapter One
In another tent Chiron stood with Percy by his side as Nautica Stood with Mave across from them. Both of the protectors stared at Percy. Nautica moved forward, still staring at him. But it was the silence between them that was never racking. One side had questions about what was going on, while the other side couldn't take Percy as their master's son. But that soon same to end the moment Nautica opened her mouth.
"Him? This small hybrid is our master's son?"
"Yes, he is more agile than you think," Chiron said.
"Oh, really I would like to see that," Nautica said.
"No, we are not here to fight. Did you forget that we have a task to do?" Mave asked.
"Yeah, Yeah I know, but I still can not believe he is that one we are looking for," Nautica said, staring at Percy.
Nautica shook her head while Mave merely smiled. Percy took a deep breath, he tried not to stare at Nautica be he couldn't help it for she kept getting closer and closer to him. He took a step back and Chiron stood in front of Percy, causing Nautica to glare at the centaur. Backing up, Nautica gripped her staff as she stood there for a moment before standing back over beside Mave.
"I am sorry Nautica can get carried away sometimes, but I agree with her. We have been to many places and met with people claiming to be our master's son. So even I can't believe he is without proof," Mave said.
Proof something Percy found annoying. But it was always necessary when meeting someone new. Looking out at the pouring rain, Percy's head slowly tilted from right to left as his black eyes turned cerulean blue.
Noticing the rain drops moving from outside move toward Percy, Chiron stepped aside as Percy took a step forward. Percy's eyes narrowed as he stared at Nautica. As the raindrops continued to form in his hand. Opening his palm, the water took the shape of a small puppy that seems to get bigger. The puppy hopped out of Percy's hand as more water formed around, transforming into a dog the size of Percy growling at Nautica.
Nautica growled back as Mave smiled and chuckled while clapping her hands. Chiron touched Percy's shoulder, causing the water dog to transform back into nothing but a large puddle that snaked its way back outside, rejoining the rain.
"You have proven yourself," Mave said as she turned to Nautica. "Hasn't he?"
"Yeah, "Nautica mumbled.
"Now Poseidon and his Trident are missing," Mave said redediated.
"Without them they world will flood," Nautica said.
"And how am I supposed to find his trident, let alone him?" Percy asked.
"Our master's favorite will know," Nautica said.
"She was the one who told us to find you. Only then could we move on to the next part of our journey," Mave said.
"Interesting, I haven't heard that term in a long time," Chiron said.
"Care to explain?" Percy asked.
"It means a specific God has favored a gifted person hence has their protection," Chiron explained.
Percy nodded. He understood a little, but had a feeling it would sink in later. By this time Mave was looking at Percy intently as she walked over and stood by his side. He didn't know why, but she made him feel uncomfortable. He could see that Nautica would be his rival, but with Mave, her calm demeanor that he should find comforting only made him the opposite.
"Uh, so when do we visit this favorite?" Percy asked in an uneasy tone.
"Right now," Mave replied, touching Percy's shoulder.
Before Chiron could protest Mave, Percy and Nautica disappeared in a blue light.
Shaking his head, he turned to the entrance of the tent as Annabeth and Grover ran in with shields covering their heads. Setting them down, the two looked around the tent before looking back at their mentor.
"We're too late their gone," Grover said.
"Indeed, the three of them have gone to visit Poseidon's favorite to start the first leg of this journey," Chiron said.
"Crap I'm his protector I should be with him," Grover said, stomping his hooves in the dirt.
"I may not be his protector, but I am his friend hence I should go too," Annabeth said.
Chiron smiled, Annabeth and Grover Percy's loyal friends. He had the honor to see their friendship blossoms but with Annabeth perhaps something else is finally blooming as well.
"I didn't say you couldn't go after them, now did I?" Chiron said before turning his back to them.
"But we don't know where this favorite is." Annabeth said.
Walking over to the table, Chiron pulled out a piece of paper and pen. He scribbled something down on the piece of paper and stepped aside. Annabeth and Grover walked over to the table, scanning over the piece of paper. Annabeth looked to Chiron while Grover folded the piece of paper up and slipped in his inner jacket pocket.
"Sir," Annabeth said, shocked.
"Now you have the location, the rest is up to you two," Chiron replied.
Looking back at Grover, who nodded, the two of them ran over and picked up their shields. Stopping at the tent entrance, they have Chiron a nod of thanks before running back in the pouring rain.
Smiling, a content escaped Chiron lips as Dionysus walked over and joined him. He shakes himself dry as he watched both Annabeth and Grover as they disappeared out of sight.
"Are you sure about them leave like this?" Dionysus asked.
"Think about it, even if I didn't them the location, they would've gone anyway, at least now they are on the right track," Chiron said.
"True, those three. Their friendship is something else, but I wonder if it will be enough for this adventure," Dionysus pondered.
"I know it will be. In fact, it might even make their friendship stronger."
