The Never Ending Rain

Chapter Two

The dark skies remained across the world as downpour after dour power of rain soaked the Earth. Lakes were pouring into streets, parking lots and buildings and homes, while oceans flooded the beaches and boardwalks.

People were sitting on roofs of their homes and business waiting to rescued while others headed to shelters on higher ground hoping whatever was going on would end soon.

Deep in the cave in the mountains, a woman with long blond hair and blue eyes wearing a long black dress with a squid symbol on her chest smiled as she looked at her crystal orb. All the destruction brought a sense of overwhelming joy to Elise.

"I was right to wait and plan. Oh, how wonderful this has turned out to be," Elise mused, folding her hand across her chest.

"I can't believe we got one of the big three," a blond-haired man said.

Elise glared back at her brother Eric, who put his hands through his long blond hair and smiled as he took a step back.

"Okay, you snagged him, but I got his trident," Eric said, pointing to the glowing trident within a water bubble.

Nodding, Elise wandered over to the wall in the cave where an unconscious Poseidon wheezing with his head down. Pulling up his head by his hair, Elise looked at the face of the water god.

"With these two here, the world will continue to spin out of control," Elise said, still staring at Poseidon.

"Isn't that what we want?"

"Yes," Elise said, letting go of Poseidon's hair and his head hanged down again. "I take it your plan to keep this going is in full swing?"

"Yup, everything is running smoothy," Eric staring at the trident.

Elsewhere sitting under a hand made pier starting at the lake that almost touched the bottom of her shoes, Yolanda sighed. Leaning back on the pier, she stared up at the dark clouds in the sky as the rain continued to all along with a rumble that echoed, causing her to sigh once more.

"I understand you miss him, but don't worry, we will find him and everything will return to normal," Yolanda said to the sky.

Another rumble followed louder than before, along with a flash of lighting, which prompted a small smile from Yolanda as she nodded to herself.

"Well, I'll take that as a yes."

Yolanda's eyes perked up as the hairs on the back of her head stood up. Someone was here. Closing her eyes, she could catch a whiff of a cerulean sea along with something rotten. Her eyes opened to see both Mave and Nautica walking in her direction.

"So, you two finally found him?" Yolanda asked, looking down the pier at the two women.

Both women nodded as they stepped aside, revealing Percy, who steps forward. Unsure what to do next, Percy bowed, causing Yolanda to chuckle.

"No need to be so formal. Come sit, we have a lot to talk about," Yolanda said, patting the spot next to her.

Looking back to Nautica and Mave, who nodded, he walked along the pier and sat down a few inches away from Yolanda. Fumbling with his fingers before placing them flat on his lap, Percy still wasn't sure what to make of this woman.

"My name is Yolanda Valinda. I am a friend of your fathers, but everyone else calls me his favorite," Yolanda said.

"I am Percy Jackson. I take that you already know that," Percy said, looking at Yolanda's feet.

"Even in weather like this, old habits never die," Yolanda said, wiggling her toes.

"Uh, I have a lot of questions to ask you but…"

"But there is never anytime for answers. So let's get back to work your question."

"How am I supposed to save my father and get the trident?"

"Well, if you find one you will find the other and how you find him is thru your gift,"

Percy tilted his head. He knew what powers he had because of his father, but he couldn't see how any of them could help him.

"Huh?" Percy asked for clarification.

"Okay, I see it's best to show you what I mean," Yolanda said, sitting with her legs crossed turning to Percy. "Close your eyes and take a deep breath."

Still feeling unsure, Percy did as he was told and closed his eyes. After a few moments, he took a deep breath.

"Let your mind go. You're not on the pier. I'm not here neither is Mave nor Nautica, you are the rain. Let its sound help you find what you're looking for."

Percy sway back and forth as his body grew light as Yolanda's voice grew further away. Soon he could no longer hear her. All he could hear was the rain. The pounding in his ears as it engulfs him, the wetness as it soaked his skin. He sighed as his mind flowed with the rain.

Nautica and Mave watched Percy swaying while Yolanda stared out at the lake and how the rain trickled across the waters.

After a few moments, the rain no longer trickled across the lake. In fact, it stopped completely. Yolanda, Nautica and Mave looked to Percy to see him siting up straight as a cerulean blue aura formed around his body. Mave took a step forward, but Yolanda shook her head, still looking at Percy.

"Now find him," she whispered.

Percy's eyes shot open, glowing a cerulean blue. His head went back as he staring at the dark gray sky. But the dark clouds parted, letting the light blue tint of the sky through as if clearing him a path. Shaking violently, Yolanda held Percy's body in place as his mind escaped his body. It traveled in the cerulean blue light that shot up to the sky. Bouncing off cloud after cloud, gliding off the winds that shot him even further with only one word echoing in his mind.

Father

Deep within a cave chained to a wall, cerulean blue aura lined Poseidon's body as he slowly opened his eyes.

"Percy…"
