The Never Ending Rain

Chapter Six

In the cave, Elise and Eric smiled as they looked at her crystal ball. The spiders breaking their disguises surrounded Percy and Poseidon's guards.

"So exciting," Eric boasted as he leaned in closer.

"Yes, it is," Elise said as he leaned back in her chair, crossing her fingers.

Glancing over to Poseidon, she expected to see worry in his eyes. However, she found him smiling instead. Hopping out of her chair, she walked toward him as he even laughed. Biting her lips, she smacked the Poseidon across the face.

"What are you so happy about?" Elise asked bitterly.

"If my son and my guards made it this far, it's only a matter of time before this is all over." Poseidon replied.

Elise scoffed. "Oh, I guess we'll see then. But I wouldn't hold your breath."

Elise's eyes flickered as she snapped her fingers as the crystal ball glowed, projecting the images on the wall.

"So you can get a better look at your son's demise." Elise said before sitting down in her chair.

Outside the spider web bar surrounded by over dozens of human size spiders, Percy swallowed hard as he gripped the hilt of her sword tightly. Mave's eyes narrowed, grasping her staff. A smile spread across Nautica's lips as she held her blue sabers.

"Anyone got a plan?" Percy asked.

"Yup, don't die," Nautica said, followed with a laugh.

Mave shook her head as Nautica twirled her sword in her hands.

Hissing loudly, one of spider charged forward. Nautica went first, slashing the spider across the chest before jumping in the air, sending out a sonic scream, knocking the spider's back while causing Percy to wince.

The moment Nautica touched the pavement, she took off running to the left. Mave smacked a few spiders before running to the right.

Recovering from the sonic wave, Percy shook his head as he took off, running forward.

Mave continued running, but stopped when spiders surrounded her. At first, they charged forward one by one and she smacked them away with the bottom and top of her staff. As they continued coming, her smacks grew stronger, her eyes flickers as she twirled her staff sweeping up the water off the ground and drops falling from the sky. Gripping her staff tight, she pushed the water back at the spiders, sending them flying.

Able to take a breath, Mave slipped back into her fighting stance as more spiders ran toward her. Holding up her hand, her eyes glowed as the rain droplets formed into a bubble like shield. She winced as the spider clawed and bit at the bubble, only it to bounce them back. Soon more spiders attacked the bubble crawling over the top of it.

With the added pressure, Mave refused to buckle. Biting her lips, a sea green light lined her body. Looking around, only seeing spiders, her eyes widen when a squealing sound reached her ears. The sound grew louder, followed by a loud smack. Moments later, a spider was pulled away from the bubble follow by another being kicked and punched. The woman glanced at Mave, causing her to smile.

"Yolanda," Mave said, silently thanking her.

The woman nodded as she continued smacking and kicking away more spiders.

Taking a deep breath, Mave closed her eyes. The surrounding bubble grew as a sea green light lined Mave's body.

Smacking away another spider, Yolanda noticed the rest of the spiders backing away. Turning around, she found out why the bubble around Mave had doubled in size. Looking down at her raincoat, Yolanda noticed it was dry. Even the rain stopped falling from the sky as well. But as she looked up, she noticed it hadn't stopped. The bubble was absorbing it. With each droplet that touches its surface, it grew. It was now as big as a two story building.

"Oh crap," Yolanda said, backing up as well.

Running away wasn't an option, so taking a deep breath, Yolanda gripped her staff and steady herself, hoping this would be enough.

"This is gonna hurt," she told herself.

Unable to contain the power within her any longer, Mave's eyes shot open. Opening her mouth, she let out a scream that shattered the bubble and unleashing the light around her. Cars, spiders, trash cans, anything that wasn't bolted down were washed away. Yolanda did her best to hang on, but she also got washed away.

Opening her eyes, Yolanda found herself far from where she was before. Her back bumped into a car that was part of a stack that was behind her. Looking around, she spotted dead spiders everywhere. Some were sliced in half, while many had their limbs missing. In fact, the more she looked around, the more legs and other bits she found. Yolanda even had to pull a few off her raincoat.

To top it off, she was soaked from head to toe. Yolanda's face scrunched up at the feeling of her wet socks and shoes. At least she wasn't hurt, but a bath was definitely at the top of her things to do when this was over.

"I guess I overdid it," Mave said, standing in front of Yolanda completely dry.

"You think," Yolanda replied as squeezing her hair.

Mave chuckled."Thanks for your help."

"Don't mention it, come on, we better join the others," Yolanda said, waddling away.

Mave followed, trying her best to stifle her laughter.

Meanwhile, else where Nautica screamed, slashing away at spider after spider. From throwing out rolling water blasts to dodging and flipping over spiders. She was enjoying the fight. But even she knew she couldn't keep this up forever. After jumping in the air, she felt something touch her. Looking down, one spider snagged her foot with some webbing.

"Uh oh," she thought.

Pulling her down, Nautica smacked the pavement but still held on to her sabers. Grunting, Nautica got up. She slashed away the spiders, keeping them at bay while trying to cut herself loose of the webbing. But it didn't work. The spider she was tethered to crawled up a building, turning her upside down.

Losing her grip on her sabers, Nautica watched as they land on the pavement below. Narrowing her eyes as the spiders spewed their webbing at she grabbed on to it pulling the spider in and head butting. There were too many of them. Her eyes flickered as a bubble formed around her just as more webbing was spewing her way.

Glancing out among the spiders, Nautica noticed a dark figure moving among them. Thinking it was just her eyes playing tricks on her, she didn't pay attention to it at first. Until the dark figure moved closer. Shrieks reached her ears as the figure gutted and slashed every spider it touched.

Moving closer, the dark figure turned out to be a young woman sailing across the air in a raincoat and boots with twin daggers in hand. Running across the spiders, the woman jumped in the air, stabbing the spider on the wall in the back then cut Nautica free.

Landing on her feet, Nautica pickled up her sabers as the woman landed beside her. Glancing at each other, they nodded as they ran together, eyes flickering as they cut through the remaining spiders.

As the rain washed the spiders' blood off their weapons, Nautica sheathed her sabers first as she looked over at the young woman.

"You got a name?" Nautica asked.

"Annabeth, you?" Annabeth said, sheathing her daggers.

"Nautica, thanks for the help,"

Annabeth nodded. "No problem, but we have to go help the others.

Nodding, the two took off running to join the others.

Running with spiders on either side of him, Percy didn't stop. It wasn't until a spider dropped in front of him he did. .Stepping back, Percy stab the spider in the gut, before kicking back the others.

Nodding to him self Percy charged at the spiders, dodging them with ease. He slashed and kicked them at first, but as they continued coming, he added a few punches in as well.

While spiders were dropping left and right, he was running out of steam. But he couldn't stop, he had to find his father.

Breathing hard, a cerulean blue light lined his body as he raised his sword high. When it came down, it sliced the spider in two and sent out a wave that destroyed the other spiders in its path. But in the corner of his eye, he spotted a spider charged toward him from behind. When he turned around, a pair of familiar hooves stomped on the spider, squishing it.

Percy smiled as Grover jumped off the spider and stood in front of him.

"You do not know how glad I am to see you," Percy said.

"Like wise, but it looks like you didn't even need my help," Grover said.

"I wouldn't mind some help,"

"Say no more," Grover said, pulling out his sword.

The two charged toward the remaining spiders. With Grover stomping on a few and slashing away, Percy came up right behind him slashing as well. After what felt like hours, the spiders were finally taken care of.

Both Percy and Grover took a deep breath before Grover took off running, with Percy following right behind him.

"Where are we going?" Percy asked.

"To meet up with Annabeth and the others," Grover replied.

Nodding, the two continued running in silence.

Back in the cave, Elise laid her hand on Eric's shoulder. A sigh escaped his lips as he gently touched his sister's hand, squeezing it gently.

"Looks like it's time for me to say hello to our guests," Eric said.

Elise nodded."Be careful."

Standing up, Eric kissed Else's hand, but she quickly pulled it away and wiped it off. Eric chuckled as Elise glared at him.

Shaking his head, Eric sighed. "Don't worry, I will."

Watching him walk away, Elise sighed. The moment he was out of sight, she sat back down in her chair, blinking away a few tears.

"You care about your brother a lot." Poseidon said.

At first, Elise ignored him. He must be so happy his son and guards, along with three others, have beaten all the spiders. But she noticed something else in his voice a sense of compassion.

"So you remember us?" Elise asked.

"Yes, I can not release your mother, Elise."

Elise sighed loudly. "Because she's unstable? It's been over 400 years. Maybe she's changed.

"I visit her every day. She is still in her squid form, seeking nothing but destruction."

"And Zeus still uses her as his pet!" Elise said, slamming her hand on the arm of her chair.

"Not anymore. Kathleen deserves more than that."

Elise's eyes widen the moment he said that name. Tears flooded to the surface as she blinked them away.

"Thank you, I guess," Elise whispered as she turned away from him.

A small smile spread across Poseidon's lips as he looked at the image on the wall. They were getting close. He only hoped he could make Elise come to her senses before it's too late.

Back in the town in the center of the street, Percy and Grover joined up with everyone else.

Annabeth stood beside Percy, giving him a pat on the back, with Grover beside him as well. They were back together again and he wouldn't have it any other way. Seeing this Mave and Nautica nodded, they were glad to get to get the help. While the five of of them were talking among themselves, Yolanda looked down the street at fog behind a large house. Tilting her head from left to right, Yolanda walked toward the fog. Noticing this, Percy stopped talking and ran after Yolanda as the other followed.

Percy got in front of her and kept walking backward to he could see her face. His smile disappeared the moment he noticed Yolanda's eyes flickering from normal to white. He didn't need to look behind him to know where they were going.

"We're heading to the fog. Why?" Percy asked.

"Beyond the fog is where your father is," Yolanda answered, in a distorted voice

"The cave is in the mountain?" Percy asked.

Yolanda stopped a few feet away from the house and looked at Percy. "No, the mountain is a massive cave, and that house is the entrance.

"Then why have we stopped? Let go in there and end this." Nautica said.

"That's why," Mave replied, pointing ahead.

Turning around, Percy's eyes narrowed as two figures walked out of the house at the end of the street. One was a young man with blond hair wearing a Cerulean blue outfit while the other had short brown hair, wearing a white shirt and jeans and looked rather heavy.

Yolanda's eyes returned to normal. "Eric."

The blond man smiled as he looked over at everyone before glaring at Percy. "Ah, we finally meet Percy Jackson,"

Percy stared at the Eric, his eye flicker which prompted Percy's eyes to flicker as well. Mave, Nautica, Grover and Annabeth stood behind Percy and Yolanda, ready to fight.

"Sorry about destroying your spiders. They left us no choice," Percy said bitterly.

"No worries, I have one more left and I know you can't beat him," Eric said, followed with a smile as the man beside him stood in front.

Grover scoffed. "Him against the six of us. Give me a break."

Eric smiled as Percy shook his head. Everyone's eyes turned to the man, who merely smiled as his belly grew bigger and bigger. Soon he ripped out of his human disguise, transforming into a massive spider.

Percy along with everyone else backed up as Eric stood beside the massive creature.

"His name is John, and he's going to help me destroy you," Eric said, followed with a chuckle.

Percy sighed, glancing over at Grover.

"You just had to say it, didn't you, Percy said, before looking back up at the massive spider.

"I know, but we got this, right?" Grover asked.

"We're gonna have to because if we don't, we are so screwed."
