Misty turned to lay on her back before a yelp left her lips as she felt a stinging pain she felt from her bottom.
"You okay?" Mallory yelled from outside the door.
"'m fine..." Misty murmured as she turned to lay on her stomach.
The door opened and in walked Mallory. "Well, good morning to you, too, sunshine. Time for work."
"No," the older blonde murmured into her pillow.
"We'll be late. You need to get to work and I have a class to get to. Come on, Mist." Mallory said before pulling back the blanket. Her eyes grew wide. "Misty...?"
Misty rolled her eyes before rubbing them with her fists. "What?"
"What... who... y-your ass."
Misty then realized she was completely naked from the night before still. "Shit..." she sighed before grabbing the blanket off the floor to cover herself as she sat up.
"What the hell happened to you?" Mallory asked.
"It... it doesn't matter. I'm okay, that's what matters." She said.
Mallory furrowed her brows before she sat down next to her roommate. "What happened to you?"
Misty sighed as she rested her head on her hand. "I-I went to Afterglow again last night. I-I met with someone. That's what happened, okay?"
"Wait... so you didn't have a date?"
"No."
Mallory took a moment before nodding. "So, you paid someone to beat your ass? What's the point? I mean, you can have a girlfriend who will gladly do that."
Misty chuckled. "I don't know."
"Was it good at least?"
The curly-haired blonde's cheeks turned an incredible shade of red. She nodded shyly. "Yeah... yeah, it was... uh, really good."
Mallory smirked. "Well, tell me more. How kinky did you get?"
"Umm..." Misty laughed nervously. "Just, you know..." she trailed off.
"Mist, tell me! Which one was it? Madison? Julie?"
Misty shook her head. "I'm not telling ya. I-I want to keep this to myself for now."
"Oh, Miss Kinky is keeping secrets now. Okay," Mallory smirked brightly before she got up from the bed. "Get dressed. I don't want you to be late. I'll see you tonight."
Misty nodded softly.
As Mallory left the bedroom, Misty let out a relieved sigh. Her friend had an issue with boundaries, and sometimes she'd ask question after question until she got the answer she wanted.
Misty got up from the bed and got dressed in her usual yellow uniform. After feeding the cats, she grabbed her keys and walked to her car. She headed straight to work.
After clocking in, she spotted her boss and walked over to him. "Hey, Mr. Samson, can I ask ya something?"
"Sure, kid." He said as he looked at the blonde.
"Can I possibly pick up an extra shift or two this week?"
"Did your cat eat another rat?" he asked.
Misty thought that was the perfect lie. She nodded. "Yes. This time we think it had poison in its system. We took her in last night."
"How much is the bill going to be?"
"Uh, 375... I can cover some of it, but I need the extra hours to make up for it?" Misty explained.
The man sighed before nodding. "Okay, yeah. Celest is going on vacation with her boyfriend or something like that. You can pick up her shifts for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning." He said.
"Oh, thank ya so much!" she said with a bright smile.
Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday went normal. But, when Wednesday came, Misty had two shifts. Her first—where she waited tables—went by perfectly. After taking an hour break, she changed her clothes from her yellow uniform to a white one with an apron and clocked in for her first extra shift of the week. She was going to be waiting for the bar, where older men usually got their coffee, truck drivers stopped for a quick bite, and if they were crowded, where single people would sit to eat.
For the first hour, things were running smoothly. She handed cups of hot and cold coffee off to people, plates of eggs, and even milkshakes when they were requested. But, when she turned around, she spotted Goode walking her way with two other, younger, blonde girls that looked a lot like her. They looked to be around fifteen and eighteen. Her eyes grew wide. She bit her lip and quickly turned back around.
She sucked in a nervous breath as she thought about what to do. She wanted to run to the kitchen and wait until the woman left, but she knew that wasn't an option. She tried to remind herself to act natural, like she didn't know the woman.
"Excuse me," she heard behind her. It was Goode's voice.
She took in another deep breath before turning around. She put on her best smile. "Yes, h-how can I help ya, ladies?"
She noticed Goode's eyes widen slightly before she looked down at her menu.
"Can I get a strawberry milkshake and some fries?" one of the younger blonde's asked.
Misty nodded as she started to write down the order on her pad of paper.
"Same thing, but a chocolate shake, please." The other girl said.
Misty nodded before looking at Goode.
The woman licked her lips as her brown hues went up to Misty's. "I'd like an omelet with a side of hash browns, and a black coffee, vanilla creamer, and sugar on the side. Please, thank you."
"Okay, I'll be back soon," Misty said quickly before taking their menus.
She scrambled off to put the order in. She sighed to herself as she tried to calm down. She looked up from the computer screen and noticed Goode looking at her before looking away once their eyes met.
As she walked over to the drink station, she could hear the three of them talking.
"I wonder where Celest is." The one younger blonde asked.
"I think she said she was going on vacation with her boyfriend." The other one commented.
"Who's she dating now?" Goode asked.
"Andy, I think...? I don't remember."
"No, they broke up."
"Anyways. Are you dating anyone, Cordelia? We haven't seen you in almost three months."
Misty smiled to herself. Goode's first name was Cordelia. She thought it was cute, very fitting for her.
"It's been a while."
"No. I'm not, Cassandra," Goode said.
"Why not? What happened to... what was her name?" the one girl asked.
"Wasn't it Julie?" the other asked.
"I never dated Julie. We're just friends who... like to kiss when we're drunk." Cordelia said. "But she has a boyfriend now."
Misty bit her lip softly as she listened. She grabbed a cup of coffee, the creamer, and a container of sugar before walking back over to the three of them. "Here ya go. Enjoy. I'll be back with the milkshakes in a second." She said before going back to where the milkshakes were made.
"Oh, what about a boyfriend?"
"Cass..." Cordelia said in a warning tone Misty knew all too well.
"What? You never know."
"I'm good," Cordelia said. "I'm not interested in dating right now anyways."
Misty's smile dropped.
"Why not? You should have someone."
"Catherine, I'm okay. Really. I'm busy with work right now anyways."
"You're always busy with work."
Misty grabbed the milkshakes and a can of whipped cream before going back over. "Whipped cream?"
"Yes, please." The two younger girls said at the same time.
Misty smiled as she shook the can up before pressing down the nozzle. She created a mountain of whipped cream on top of each shake. "Enjoy."
"Thanks! Do you know when Celest will be back?" one of the girls asked.
"Uh, I think Monday," Misty answered.
"Cool. Thank you."
Misty nodded before she heard a ding at the window. She walked over to it and grabbed two plates of fries, and then back over to the group. "Your omelet will be out soon, Miss Goode." She said before her eyes grew wide. "Shit..." she mumbled under her breath.
Cordelia's eyes narrowed as she looked at Misty.
"Wait, so you guys know each other?" one of the girls asked.
Misty quickly shook her head before walked away. She ran straight to the bathroom. "Shit... fuck... I'mma idiot..." she sighed as she walked into the bathroom, and straight into one of the stalls. She locked the door behind herself. "Damnit!"
She heard the main bathroom door open and peered through the crack to see Cordelia looking around. She saw the woman lock the main door. "I know you're in here, Misty." She said roughly.
The rough tone was enough to make Misty's knees weak. Slowly, she unlocked the door and walked out. "I-I'm... I'm so-so... so sorry, Miss Goode..." she stammered nervously.
"You broke my number one rule!" Cordelia barked out as she back Misty to a wall. "What the hell were you thinking?" she asked as her hand wrapped around Misty's throat.
Misty gulped. The hand around her neck was only making it harder to think straight. She could feel that fire in the pit of her stomach ignite. "I-I wasn't..." her eyes dropped. Her chest was tight with anxiety. "I-I'm sorry..."
Cordelia's hand dropped before she pulled away with a sigh. "My sisters don't know what I do! They're just kids! Now they wonder how I know you!"
Misty tried to think as her hand softly massaged the area where Cordelia slightly choked her. "Maybe... maybe say ya've been here before."
"You're a horrible liar, you know?" Cordelia asked as she rolled her eyes.
"Yeah," the taller blonde sighed.
"How's your ass, by the way?"
Misty looked up at Cordelia as she wrapped her arms around herself. "I'm fine... thanks for askin'..."
Cordelia sighed as she looked at the other woman. "Will I still be seeing you Friday?"
Misty nodded shyly. "If that's okay?"
"It is." The shorter woman said. "Just... don't say my name again, or I will choke you."
Misty swallowed hard as she nodded. "Y-yes, Ma'am."
Cordelia took a deep breath before unlocking the bathroom door and walked out.
Misty let out a heavy sigh as she squeezed her eyes shut. She felt the anxiety in her chest was still there. She was so scared of upsetting Cordelia, now more than ever. She was nervous to leave the bathroom, but she knew she had to.
After washing her hands, she headed back to the kitchen. She grabbed Cordelia's food and brought it to her. Nothing else was said while Cordelia and her sisters were there until they asked for the check.
Misty got the check and placed it on the bar before walking away. She waited until they left to grab her tip. Her eyes widened when she grabbed the stack of ones on the bar along with the receipt with a note.
'Sorry for snapping... again. Keep the change. See you Friday, XoXo—Goode.'
Misty started to count the money and after the bill was paid, she had almost 25 in ones left over. "Jesus," she breathed out.
