Fighting Spirit

Every once in a while, Pokemon become restless, annoyed from taking orders from half-competent trainers. It's possible to see these certain Pokemon in towns, sitting there like a stubborn, unmovable rock with a trainer hovering over them. I've become stubborn myself, and for good reason too.

My trainer says that I have reached level thirty-two… and it's time for me to evolve. I can feel for myself that my body wants to change… almost as if someone has taken a feather to my skin and tickled until it almost hurts. But I'm stronger than to just give into that, to change, to become a different creature entirely. No, I refuse to evolve. Absolutely refuse.

I've met a couple Meganium before, of course. And might I add that they're the biggest bunch of pansies I've ever seen. After evolution, a Meganium does not want to battle. Rather, a Meganium will want to walk around and breathe on plants. That I never will understand. And… Meganium are pacifists. Peacekeepers. Flower children. One even had a peace sign painted on one of her neck-petals.

I could never be a Meganium… and that's something my trainer does not understand. I am a fighter, that's how I obtained battle experience. After all, my trainer wants to be a gardener. (I shudder to think of it.) My teammates are all grass types, or grass related, after all. He has in his mind what we all will do once we've all reached our final stages of evolution. Jumpluff to plant seeds, Sunflora to supply nutrients to the seedlings, me to keep the seedlings healthy, and Bellossom to stabilize the weather… after the plants we've been tending grew enough to bear flowers, Butterfree and Beedrill would pollinate them, and we'd start the process all over again.

Now doesn't that little process sound like so much fun?

Yeah, sure. One thing I know is that I'm not going to evolve, because—mark my words—that will be the most I will ever do with my life. But I like battling, and I have one thing my trainer never expected any of his Pokemon to possess. A fighting spirit.
