I'm sorry for this month of inactivity, I've had many personal problems, plus many failures in my internet connection, but I'm back, hoping to bring you new chapters every week.

I would also like to add that the cover changes it and a picture appears of what I imagine my characters Kat, Sev and Alex, and additionally Snape, would look like.

Chapter 14: Suspicions and investigations

{Snape's POV}

Once Severus left his office, Snape set about writing a note to Kat that he wanted to talk to her during lunchtime. He sent it, expecting it to reach her when her class was over. He watched as the owl flew out of his office window and let out a small sigh -"Why, I have a feeling today is going to be a long day"- He says before sending a note to Minerva, hoping to meet with her after talking to Kat. After seeing the second owl go out the window, he went back to concentrating on his work.

Kat walked to her class slowly and sat down next to her friends or the Quidditch team, whichever she had in the class at the time. Her body was in constant pain from the day before, her face didn't hurt so bad, but people were just constantly asking her questions about it.

As soon as his first class was over, Severus, after asking some Hufflepuff students from the same year as Kat, headed towards the classroom where his sister had had her first class, he stood outside the classroom waiting for Kat to come out.

Alex looked both ways down the hallway, he was waiting for Kat or Severus leaning against the wall outside the Charms classroom, he didn't know who was coming to pick him up, but he had to stay there anyway -"I want to stop being grounded already"- He mumbled to himself.

Kat gathered her stuff when an owl left a note on her desk; she read it and then put it in her pocket, wondering what her father would want to talk to her about. She walked out of her first class and over to Severus when she saw him leaning against the wall. -"What's up?"- She asked as she motioned for him to walk towards Alex's class with her.

Severus nodded and walked beside her down the hallway. -"I just wanted to tell you that thanks for taking Alex to his first class, and that I will take care of the rest of the day, and take the damn potion"- He rolled his eyes at the last, knowing that Kat would ignore him. -"Oh, and possibly Alex is going to be your problem after these three weeks"- He said softly, swallowing his pride.

-"No problem and no, I will not be taking the potion."- Kat said laughing softly -"Yeah, I figured, it's not a surprise"- She smiled at him not knowing if he gave up or their father had taken that job away from him, she didn't ask she deduced that would be one of the reasons their father wanted to see her during lunch.

Severus rolls his eyes. -"Well, I tried, but drink it if the pain becomes unbearable."- He stretches. -"Okay, I'm going this way, I'm going to pick up Alex; see you at lunch."- He says before walking away from Kat.

-"I'll think about it."- Kat said as Severus started to walk away -"I won't be at lunch"-

Severus nods. -"Fine, I'll see you at dinner or in the common room then"- He turns his head slightly to look at her, he smirks. -"Drink the damn potion"- He said it this time just to annoy her. He laughs as he quickens his pace.

-"I'll see you later."- Kat said as she walked away. -"NO!"- She shouted back while Turing down another corridor to go to her next class.

Severus laughs louder when he hears Kat's shout. He went to pick Alex up, still laughing.

Alex raised an eyebrow as he saw his brother laughing when he came to pick him up, but he didn't say anything, he looked in a very good mood, something rare for his older brother, but he preferred to keep him that way. He waved to Severus before entering his next class.

Severus shrugged and walked even faster to get to his next class.

Kat sighed as she got to her next class; she was just in too much pain and way too bored to go to classes today. One of the boys from the team reminded her that they did have practice today, and she almost died at the thought of practicing today.

{Alex and Sev's POV}

Severus, when he finished his last class before lunchtime, spoke to Professor McGonagall, saying that his father had given him permission to transform into an Animagus.

Minerva nodded, saying she would have a meeting with his father later. She gave him some books and scrolls to review before his first lesson.

By the time Severus finished talking to Professor McGonagall, it was time for lunch, so he grabbed all the books and scrolls and went to pick up Alex.

Alex stares at Severus as they walk towards the Great Hall -"Why do you carry so many books and scrolls?"- He asked him, not understanding why his brother was carrying so many books and scrolls in his arms. His brother might not have muscles, but he managed to walk without any problem, although Alex swore that at any moment he was going to drop them.

-"Because they don't fit in my bag"- Severus said simply, he wasn't going to explain himself to the kid.

Alex pouted faintly at the answer, but didn't ask anymore, he knew Severus wouldn't tell him anymore.

Severus sighed in relief as they walked into the Great Hall; the books were beginning to weigh him down.

-"May I go to the Gryffindor table, pretty please, Sev?"- Alex pleaded in his most manipulative tone possible and deepening his pout.

Severus looked towards the professors' table and didn't see their father. -"Okay, but come to me when you finish eating"- He said looking down at him, since their father wasn't there he wouldn't have to explain himself to him, plus he would avoid possible questions from the kid.

Alex nodded, went to the Gryffindor table and sat down with his friends. He chatted with his friends happily as he played with his food.

Severus put the books and scrolls on the table, letting out a sigh of relief. He sat down and told his friends about his talk with his father.

{Kat and Snape's POV}

When lunch had arrived, Kat left class and made her way to her father's office, knocking on the door before she walked in. -"You wanted to see me?"- She asked as she placed her school bag down and sat in one of the chairs in front of her father's desk.

Snape looks at his daughter and nods. -"Yes, Severus came to ask me this morning if you could take over Alexander again once the three weeks of his punishment were over, I agree, but I would like to know your opinion"-

Kat had to suppress a smile when she heard that Severus had given up -"I don't care, the kid's been literally attached to me for almost 2 days now, so it makes no difference if he's responsible for Alex or not."- She said with a shrug knowing that Severus couldn't handle it more than 3 weeks.

Snape nods. -"Thank you, I'm actually relieved that he wouldn't want to take care of Alexander all the time anymore, I'm still worried for the next three weeks"- He sighs. -"Alexander has been very attached to you?"- He asked, intrigued.

-"Yeah, the kid's going to die one day with him watching."- Kat said laughing softly –"Yes, he slept in my bed last night and I literally had to carry him everywhere since the boggart incident"- She shrugged –"When Severus asked he said it was something about my 'magic'"-

-"That's a bit odd, even for Alexander."- Snape frowned slightly. -"Your magic?"- He thought for a moment and then shook his head. -"No, that couldn't be possible, but what did he say about your magic? And this thing about him being attached to you, is that a recent thing or has he always been like that, even if it's only from time to time?"-

-"He told Severus that my 'magic' was different from his."- Kat said with a shrug. –"I mean, he's always been more attached to me than Severus, but I just thought it was because I was nicer to him. But recently it has been like overboard; apparently he started crying 2 nights ago when Severus didn't take him to my room to sleep"-

Snape frowned more and put his hand over his mouth in thought. After a few minutes, he spoke. -"That worries me a bit, how did he react yesterday to your fall, was he worried or did he overreact? I'll have to ask Severus if he still has nightmares"-

-"I just don't know what he means by my magic is different, he's more attached to me than you or Severus so that must mean you and him have the same 'magic' and only mine is different. I told Severus to take him away if I get hurt during a game, so I'm not sure how he reacted, Severus did say that he didn't want to leave and was crying my name until he fell asleep"- Kat said thinking for a second -"I'm almost positive he still has nightmares"-

Snape takes a deep breath. -"Okay, I guess this will be enough for now, if you see Severus tell him to come here and bring Alexander when the classes are over, I want Alexander to explain to me why your 'magic' is different, and I will ask Severus a couple of questions"- He took a quill and a piece of scroll -"It doesn't matter if you don't find him anyway, I'll send a note to Severus just in case, but he doesn't usually read the notes I send him"- He finished with a sigh.

-"I'm aware; he usually comes to me asking what is happening when you send a note."- Kat said laughing softly as she got up –"Let me know what you find out, I'm very curious."- She said as she grabbed her school bag and headed out of his office.

-"Of course, I'll let you know if I find out anything"- Snape said before Kat left the office. He wrote a note and sent it to Severus. He sighed and began to go through some books on the shelf. – "I need to check this before Minerva comes, Alexander being more sensitive and emotional than usual could bring much more trouble."- He sits on the couch and opens the book. He reads a bit while waiting for Minerva.

{Alex and Sev's POV}

Severus had finished eating when an owl left a note in front of him; he shrugged and put it in his pocket, thinking to ask Kat later.

When Alex finished eating, he said goodbye to his friends and went to where Severus was.

Severus got up from the table when he saw Alex coming towards him. He gathered his books and scrolls, and headed out of the Great Hall, followed by Alex, who was humming softly.

When they reached the common room, Severus went to his dorm to leave his books and scrolls while Alex waited for him sitting in front of the fire. When Severus returned, he took Alex to his next class and then went to find Kat to ask her about the note, since usually if his father sent a note to him, he would also send one to his sister or at least she had a slight idea what their father might want if he was the only one who received a note.

{Kat and Sev's POV}

Kat headed straight for her class, not wanting to have to walk all the way to the Great Hall and then all the way to her class right away. She sat in her normal seat as she waited for her friends and the rest of the class.

After spending a while looking around, Severus finally found the class where Kat would be. He walked into the classroom and saw her sitting down -"Hey, I figured you'd be here, dad sent me a note, is something wrong?"- He said as he stood next to her.

-"Just take Alex to dad's office after school; he wants to talk to both of you."- Kat said, laughing softly because her father was right that he wouldn't read it -"Why don't you read the note next time?"- She said jokingly.

Severus raises his eyebrow. -"I haven't done anything wrong, have I?"- He thought for a moment what he might have done, or what Alex might have done, in the time he left the office until now. -"Why read it if I can ask you"- He finally said when it didn't occur to him what he might have done wrong.

-"No, he's trying to figure out why Alex has been acting weird recently."- Kat said with a shrug -"Because eventually I won't be here to tell you."- She said, referring to when she graduates.

Severus sighed in relief. -"Good, I almost had a heart attack, just when I just got dad's permission, getting into trouble so recently wouldn't be any good"- He shrugs. -"Yeah, but you're still here, I'll read the notes when you're gone"- He said simply, it was better to have his sister explain to him than to draw his own conclusions, when it came to his father.

-"I think he knows something we don't."- Kat said as she shook her head at his next comment -"For someone who says he's not gonna help me or ask for help, you're very annoying."- She let out a snort.

Severus smirks. -"Thanks for the compliment, being annoying to you is a lot of fun for me."- He chuckles softly. -"Well, whatever he knows, he will have to tell us sooner or later"- He said as he shrugged.

-"Oh shut up and go to class."- Kat said, rolling her eyes as he smirked -"Tell me if you find out anything weird."- She said as the students began to enter the classroom.

-"Yes, ma'am"- Severus teases, turns and walks to the door. -"Although compared to yesterday he has been normal, he has not repeated your name as many times as yesterday"- And he was thanking Merlin for that.

-"That's because yesterday I fell off a broom from pretty high up, right in front of his face."- Kat said, laughing as he left and classes got ready to start.

Severus heads to his class as he pulls the note out of his pocket and read it; he shrugged and shoved it in his pocket as he walked into the classroom. He paid very little attention to his class, his mind was on what his father might ask him and besides what Alex might have, he was very curious now about the subject.

Kat barely made it through class this time without falling asleep, her body was exhausted, and she didn't have time to grab coffee since she was in her father's office. The only think keeping her up was the curiosity of what her father would find out.

{Snape's POV}

Snape had just finished reading two books when he heard the door to his office. -"Come in."- He said as he closed the book, knowing it was Minerva.

Minerva walked in with a straight face and sat down across from Snape. She looked down to see the book he was reading and then looked at another one on the table -"Magical birth abilities, and dormant magical abilities?"- She let out a small laugh.

- "Is there something funny about those books, Minerva?"- Snape said dryly and putting the book down next to the other one.

-"No, just remember when I found in one of your bookshelves, several books on child psychology, and others like it."- Minerva says with a smile.

Snape clears his throat and knocks lightly on the table making two cups of tea and some cookies appear. -"I have no idea what you are talking about, now we have others things to talk about"-

Minerva takes one of the cups with tea -"I know, about the Animagus lessons for Mr. Snape, really your son has been being very insistent on this subject for weeks"- She takes a sip -"But before that, may I ask about those books? I don't think we have any students with out-of-the-ordinary magical abilities"-

Snape sighed, knowing that if he didn't answer her now, she wouldn't stop pestering him until he answered. -"Alexander has been manifesting certain attitudes that worry me a bit, and he's been talking about feeling people's 'magic'"- He takes a sip.

Minerva raised an eyebrow -"Uh, but Severus you know as well as I do that all those magical abilities are hereditary and the Princes didn't have any genes with that ability and besides adding that your father was a Muggle that makes it even more impossible."-

Snape sighed. -"I know that, but..."- He was left with the word in his mouth -"There's still a small possibility"- He said simply.

-"Mmm, but it's unusual coming from you to go straight to those types of books, what Alexander may have may be psychological not magical, unless you have more than a small possibility"- Minerva spoke carefully, as she is about to get to a very delicate subject. -"And the children's mother, does her family have any genes for any such abilities? That's why you went to those books"- No one knew Snape's 'wife', if you could call her that, but it was known that their relationship was not good at all.

Snape gritted his teeth as he took a deep breath -"I would advise you not to mention that being from hell in my presence and, I don't know, I don't want anything to do with that woman's family"- He sneered.

Minerva sighed. -"Severus, but it is for your children, if your youngest is manifesting some ability or was born with it, your elders may also be able to start developing some, you should..."- She could not continue, as Snape interrupted her.

-"I don't need your advice on this; I can handle it perfectly fine, so mind your own business"- Snape says coldly and with an air of superiority.

Minerva sighs -"As stubborn and proud as ever, fine, it was just a piece of advice Severus"- She said, stopping insisting on the subject.

Snape takes a deep breath. –"Thank you, now can we start with the real reason why you are here Professor McGonagall, of course if you allow it"- He says sarcastically while he put the cup on the table.

Minerva let out a snort -"Of course, Headmaster, no problem at all"- She answered him in the same tone.

They spent a couple of hours talking about Severus' syllabus and lesson schedule, as well as the rules the boy had to follow. They also talked about the expectations they had about these lessons and about Severus.

-"Well, I guess that would be all"- Minerva said as she sorted through the scrolls where she had all the information from the meeting. -"Can I ask anything else?"-

Snape sighed. -"Fine"- He said dryly as he wiped the table with his wand, making the empty cups and the empty plate disappear.

-"I'm surprised you gave your son permission about this kind of lessons, it's very dangerous, and he's only 15 years old."- Minerva said seriously.

-"As you said before, he was very insistent, besides, he seemed to have had this in mind for a long time. He seemed serious and very mentally prepared for this. And he is my eldest son, I know what he is capable of, and I know he will be able to become an Animagus without any problem, I had no reason to refuse"- Snape said proudly.

Minerva had to hold back a laugh at Snape's words about his son. -"Well, then I guess I have nothing to worry about."- She smirked -"But what would have happened if your youngest had asked the same thing?"- She couldn't help but ask that with just to see Snape's reaction.

-"I would have flatly refused, that kid is not mentally mature enough to do something so dangerous, he already comes up with all sorts of things that are only dangerous and get him into trouble"- Snape said indignantly.

Minerva laughed as she stood up -"Yes, he's a magnet for trouble, besides having a lot of imagination for his witticisms."- She walks towards the door. -"Though you should stop babying him and overprotecting him or he'll never be mature enough to do anything like what his older siblings do."- She says before walking out of the office, closing the door behind her.

Snape lets out a snort -"What would she know, I've raised that kid, I know what's best for him."- He picked up the book again and continued reading; he had to have as much information as he could before his two sons saw after classes.
