The Many Kids of Danny Fenton

Chapter 15: Eddie Part IV

The five friends continued playing casketball together.

It was a four on four game this time, since Selene decided to take a break, while the boys continue to play. While the boys were still trying to steal the ball from each other, Selene was the only one actually still trying to play matchmaker, much to Eddie's frustration.

"Please just play..." Eddie asked.

"Who said I can't multitask?..." She said.

"I did..." Eddie responded.

"Too bad I got a few in mind..." She responded.

Eddie groaned in exasperation.

Selene was a good friend but she was kinda pushy at times, like right now. Especially when it came to romance. Eddie was still 80% sure that she was behind Athens and Melody getting together, not that either of them would complain.

Still, she could sometimes make stone seem flexible, like right now.

"Come one, Eddie. Just give me something to go by. What would she look like?..."Selene said.

"I don't know. To honest I'm not one for how cute a ghoul is..." Eddie said.

"So, you don't care about looks at all?..." Athens asked.

Eddie shook his head.

"Sure I wouldn't mind if she was pretty but the inside is more important then the outside, I don't want to deal with another Azalea..." Eddie said.

Selene smiled.

Eddie was really mature when it came to girls...well, more mature compared to most guys their age, anyway.

She wanted to suggest Spectina but she knew he wasn't ready. Sure, she would like him to go out with Spectina but she couldn't force him to have feelings for her. Besides, at least Eddie had some taste in women and he wasn't going to go after someone because of her looks.

If that was the case, a certain snobby weed would have gotten her way A LONG time ago.

"There's no way I'd ever give THAT girl her desires..." She thought.

She tried to think of girls he knows that aren't taken for Eddie to ask out, but who?

"Hmm... I don't know a lot of the girls from his dad's old dates... let's see who he knows I can reach now..."She thought.

Her mind got to work.

During a water break, Selene tried to suggest some eligible prospects to her ghostly friend to ask to the dance and who might say yes.

"What about that goth girl in your math class with the lip piercing? You know, Kari? Kara?..." Selene asked. trying to remember the name.

"Kaye, I don't know. She's not my type..."Eddie said.

Wyatt smiled

"She could be my type..." Wyatt said, since he always did find her to be freaky fine.

"Everything's your type..." Bram said

"I know..."Wyatt said with a grin.

The others ignored him and focused on Eddie's issue right now.

"What are you looking for exactly? Monster? Mutant? No- human?..." Athens asked, correcting himself.

He knew Selene and Eddie weren't fans of that word. Selene, because she was dating CJ and Eddie because his godmother couldn't stand that word.

Sure, he meant no disrespect when he said it but still, he had to be sensitive here.

"I am the last people to be picky about species..." Eddie said..."Remember, human dad and ghost mom..."He said..."Not to mention Gorgon and Mummy here..."He pointed to Athens.

Athens shrugged.

He had no issue being a hybrid, heck, he was proud of his lineage on BOTH sides of his family.

Anyway, back to finding a date for Eddie.

"So... you'd be open to a Kryptonian?..."Athens asked.

"Sure..."Eddie said.

"A Boudacian?..."Wyatt asked.

"As long as they're not from that psycho royal family that tried to take over the world that one time..."Eddie said.

He can still remember the time that crazy former princess Mandie tried to abduct his dad to make him her consort and promised their heirs would rule the universe, despite the fact that his dad was already happily married and with kids.

Calling the alien warrior crazy was an understatement. She made the Joker look sane.

"A robot?..."Bram asked.

"Maybe..."Eddie said.

"A mutant? Mutagen or X-Gene?..."Athens asked.

"Not picky..."Eddie said.

This could have gone on forever, had Selene not interrupted them, since she knew that Eddie isn't shallow in that sort of way.

"Guys... we're going off topic. We're trying to help Eddie find a date for the dance..."Selene spoke up.

"That is what we are doing. Considering all options..."Wyatt said.

"We're talking a date... one night..." Eddie reminded.

"I know, but you never know what one night could lead too..."Wyatt said with a hinting smirk.

Eddie rolled his eyes. Wyatt might be a little girl crazy but he is a hopeless romantic at times. Too much of both for Eddie's tastes.

Anyway, Selene tried to think of more prospects.

"What about that girl in your algebra class? The one with braces and antennas that sits behind you?..."Selene suggested.

"You mean Crash, she has a boyfriend..." Eddie said

"What kind of name is Crash, anyway?..." Athens asked

"She's part Crashhopper..." Eddie said with a shrug.

"Well, what about that harpy with the red highlights that you have math with?..."Selene suggested.

"Her name is Andrea and she is already is going with Donnie Jr. of the Dead..." Eddie said

"Darn... she was cute too..." Selene said.

"Does she have a sister?..." Bram asked.

"No... I don't feel good asking out a girl I don't know, especially since I barely know Andrea, at all..."Eddie said.

"I mean for me..." Bram said.

Everyone sent him a disapproving look.

"What? I need a date too and haven't made my choice yet..."Bram shrugged.

His sister rolled her eyes.

"You are unbelievable..."She muttered.

Sometimes the half vampire couldn't believe they were brother and sister. Anyway, back to helping Eddie find a date.

"Let's see... who else do we know?..." Athens wondered.

"Before you ask, I already had this chat with Tuck and Ceej, and I am not asking Donna, Sunny, Callie or Summer..."Eddie said.

"Why not?..."Bram asked.

"Kids of dad's friends. I've known them for years. It'd be too awkward..." The quarter ghost replied.

His friends blinked in utter confusion. They were no wondering if there was more to the boy's singleness.

"Why not try that dating service your dad did? Isn't that how he met your mom in the first place?..." Selene suggested.

Eddie shook his head.

"I wouldn't find a date by Friday since it is suppose to be a month long service and even if I quit, any potential girl I go out with will still have a few weeks ahead of them at least...I'll never find a date in time..."Eddie said, while Wyatt shook his head.

"Is it even around anymore?..." Bram asked.

"Maybe... my dad's friend Deadpool sometimes hangs out with the people who worked for it... but as I said, not enough time..." Eddie said.

"Besides, he doesn't need any dating service since he can just pick any freaky fine girl at our school..."Wyatt said.

"Besides, if word got out that the legendary Eddie Phantom joined a dating service, I am sure all your fan girls will sign up, Azalea and Leona included..."Bram said.

Eddie shuddered at the mere thought of somehow getting paired up with Azalea or Leona.

"No dating service..."Eddie said quickly..."Besides, dad had his secret identity back then and lucked out with my mom..."He said.

"Fine, though I might look into that thing later..."Wyatt said and the others looked at him funny.

"What? A guy has to keep his options open..."Wyatt said

"You have plenty of options at school..."Bram said.

Selene rolled her eyes.

"Can we get back on topic please? Sometimes, you guys have smaller attention spans than goldfish..." Selene said

"No, we don't!..." Bram snapped before whispering to Wyatt... "Do they have small attention spans?..." He asked.

"Dunno..." He responded.

Eddie laughed at how the two proved the vampire girl's point.

"You're doing it again..." Selene said, annoyed.

"Guys, focus. We are here to help our friend find a potential date and possible girlfriend..."Athens said.

"I just need a date to the dance. I just wanna have some fun and not deal with Azalea or Leona..."Eddie said.

"Then just ask someone...come on, there are over 300 girls at this school alone. Just pick one..."Athens said.

"I can't just randomly pick someone..."Eddie said.

"Does it have to be "The One"?..." Athens snarked.

Eddie sent him a glare. The reason he didn't do that is because he knew he had at least half that population in fans.

His friend noticed his glaring and eased up.

"Okay! Okay! Never mind! Sheesh...I was only trying to help..."Athens said while Eddie sighed in exasperation.

"I can't believe this..."He muttered.

How was fighting supervillains easier then talking to girls?

Seriously how?!

"Look, just ask somebody already..."Wyatt said.

"I can't just do that..."Eddie said in protest.

"Can't or won't?..." Bram asked

"Both?..." Eddie asked.

"It can't be harder than some cheesy line to a bad guy... so... got any pretty female villains you could try?..." Wyatt asked.

"I'm not even going to dignify that question with an answer. Let's focus on those who AREN'T evil?..." Eddie said.

"Fine, why not that one?..."Bram asked as he pointed to a cute looking zombie who was "talking" with her friends.

"You mean Didi of the Dead...I dunno guys, she drools more than most zombies and I don't really speak zombienese..."Eddie said, unsure.

"Good point. About the language block, not the drooling..."Wyatt said.

"How about Allie, the cat girl?..." Athens asked, wondering slightly about Wyatt's drool comment.

"Not sure about that... pretty sure she coughs up hairballs..." Eddie said.

"Thar's just a rumor..."Selene said.

"Maybe, but..I dunno...what if she says no? Or worse, what if Leona gets involved?..."Eddie said.

He really didn't to give that crazy cat any reason to think she had a chance with him.

She's as bad as Azalea.

"Good point, but you never known unless you try, man..." Bram said.

"Give it a try..." Wyatt said.

"There's no harm in it... " Athens said, before adding... "Unless it's Leona or Azalea..."

"Duh..."Eddie said, before he looked at Allie, before looking away.

"I don't know..."Eddie said again.

"Dude, it's not that hard..." Wyatt added.

"Yeah, come on. It's easy..."Bram said... "You just gotta walk over to the girl, flash your fangs and say hey..."Bram said.

"I don't have fangs..." Eddie pointed out

"Not the point. This is about having confidence. Use that and your own pearly whites..."Bram said, as if it were that simple.

"Easy for you to say, ghouls all fall over themselves to talk to you..."Eddie joked... "You're a Dracula for Pete's sake..."

"True..."Bram smirked as Eddie shook his head.

He might be the superhero but Bram was probably the most confident guy to ever live in Amity Park. His looks and being the grandson of the legendary Dracula family didn't hurt his chances with the ladies.

Monster or humans too.

Like his mother, he's not picky.

Bram personally didn't see what the big deal was about being born into a famous family and neither did Eddie. Though, maybe it was because he WAS born into a famous family, so he couldn't see it from an outside perspective.

Anyway, enough about Bram and his "advice". The group went back to Eddie.

"So... you sure you don't need help?..."Bram asked.

Eddie shook his head. He knew that Bram was trying to help him but this just isn't helping.

"I think I'll find a date on my own..." Eddie said

"How? If you could, we wouldn't be here..." Selene said.

"Yeah, she's not wrong..." Bram added.

Eddie frowned at that.

"I still got time..."Eddie said.

"Not as much you may need..." Selene said.

"Just standing here is wasting time..." Athens said.

"It's not like EVERY girl in the world will have a date by now..." Eddie said.

He still had until Friday. So maybe he will get lucky.

His friends weren't too sure. Especially Wyatt.

"Well, if I were you, I'd think fast, because you aren't the only guy who needs a date for the dance..."Wyatt pointed out.

"He's not wrong..."Athens admitted.

"At least have an idea what to say to her..." Selene suggested.

"Now we're going to decide on what I say?..." He asked in annoyance.

"Hey, you can't just say "Hey, let's go to the dance together"...unless they are a crazy fangirl, which you say that you don't want..."Bram said.

Eddie groaned, he was tired of this.

He needed a break.

"I'm gonna go get a drink..."Eddie said as he split from his friends and went to the nearest vending machine.

Thankfully, the vending machines at Monster High had much more variety then it did when his mom was a kid, as they offer food and drinks to both monster and human kind, though some monsters have taken a liking to "human food".

Phantasma couldn't understand Eddie's preference to human food, but said nothing. She just saw it as him taking after his father's side of the family.

"Weird that I'm only a quarter human and yet I find human food tastier than her food..." Eddie thought.

He quickly got his favorite, a root-beer.

"Should I grab something for the others?..." Eddie thought, checking if he had enough pocket money to get something for everyone.

Before he could think about it, a certain smell hit his nose, nearly made him shiver in the bad way, since it smelled like someone dumped an industrial size can of perfume over a bunch of fresh cut flowers.

A smell he was, unfortunately, familiar with.

"Please be Undergrowth... Please be Undergrowth... Please be..."

"Hello there, soulmate..." A feminine voice said.

"No, not her..."Eddie said as he groaned as his friends frowned at who called him.

Turning around, they saw a very pretty girl with green skin, red eyes, pinkish-purple hair and tight clothing that accented her figure, as well as a beauty mark above her lip. But most people wouldn't notice it at first, given that the ghoul smelled like she bathed in WAY too much perfume.

It is Azalea Nightshade, the daughter of the Corpse Flower's Amenita Nightshade, one of the prettiest ghouls at school, as well as one of the snobbiest too as well as Eddie's not-so-secret admirer.

For some reason, since high school orientation when they bumped into each other in the hall. Azalea was convinced Eddie was her soul mate and has been after him since.

Eddie did not feel the same way, to put it nicely.

Like his father had with the likes of Blackfire, Princess Mandie and Camille Leon, she was pretty to the eyes but that was the only compliment he'd give her, just not to her face. She was already persistent enough, he didn't want to risk encouraging her.

That was the last thing he needed this week.

He almost wished he accidentally trapped himself in his father's thermos today.

It be MUCH less painful than dealing with the biggest snob ever. Especially when she brought more to her "little game." The ghost boy shivered as he thought about it.

"Azalea..." Eddie said and the rest was obvious.

"Couldn't she just sleep for a thousand years?..."Selene had once said after an encounter with the nasty ghoul.

He did not blame her, since it was after Azalea had "borrowed" some of her things and never returned them. Selene has hated her ever since for being such a brat and for "putting her in her place", as the snobby weed once said.

And that just ONE incident, between those two and it still amazed Eddie that the school was still standing, especially after Selene lost her temper with her and that was never pretty.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) Selene was still with the guys, but that left Eddie alone to fend off the snobby plant girl.

He mentally groaned, as he knew this was not going to be fun.

"How are you... Azalea?..." Eddie asked, trying to be polite.

"Like, I am feeling fabulous. But then again, who wouldn't when you are beautiful and perfect as me..."Azalea said and Eddie rolled his eyes at her egoism.

He thought supervillains like Dr. Drakken, Dr. Dementor and Vlad Plasmius had big egos, but they paled in comparison to Azalea. The only person who came close to beating her was her mom.

Now THAT was a narcissistic plant.

Eddie had met her mother and yikes, the lady had an ego that made Lex Luthor look humble. She was one of the many reasons he hated the term "normies", given her mother constantly said it in a belittling manner and she seemed to believe that everyone in the world is meant to worship her.

Like mother, like daughter.

Anyway, back to his present problem. Eddie could pretty much guess what Azalea was going to say, since this is not the first time. They've had this conversation three times already today and it always started and ended the same.

"So, got a date for the dance, yet?..."She asked as she sent him a flirtatious look... "We could have a lot of fun..."The plant girl said in a flirty way.

Eddie shook his head as he knew that he was right, this is exactly like the other times today.

And he was going to answer just like the last times.

"I think I'll pass..." He said

She might be hot but she is not his type, not to mention that she is a total snob who felt the world had to worship her, not to mention she had a bad habit of "borrowing stuff" from others and none of it ever got returned in one piece, either.

Like this one time, she "borrowed" Selene's brand new hand bag, and a week later, Selene found it in a dumpster smelling like Azalea's perfume and she has had a grudged on her since.

Like mother, like daughter, he heard Athen's mom say one time.

Still, the plant monster girl persisted to pester him, getting on his nerves again.

"Come on Eddie, we could have a lot of fun. My mother ordered me a Le'Ghoul original, all the way from Scaris..." Azalea smiled, fluttering her eyelashes.

"I'll look amazing in it..."She said with no hint of modesty at all.

"I'm sure you will..."Eddie said sarcastically but Azalea did not notice.

"So? What do you think?..."She said, fluttering her lashes again.

Eddie frowned again, not at all interested in what she is offering.

"I think I need to go..."He said flatly.

He tried to leave but the persistent plant monster wouldn't leave him alone. She was like a bad case of poison ivy, only WAY more irritating and harder to get rid of.

"So... what are you up to TODAY hmm? Playing charity for the normies again?..." She asked, saying that word in a very derogatory term.

Eddie gritted his teeth but controlled himself.

"I've told you to stop calling them that..." He said.

"But what else can you use to describe those people? I mean, your dad is half of one and he should be lucky he got his powers..." Azalea said in an uncaring way.

Eddie got mad again as he faced the egotistical plant girl.

"Those "people"..." He used air quotes... "Are humans and my responsibility as the son of Danny Phantom. I don't have time for someone who looks down on them..." He said seriously.

"Looking down, or are we just that high up on the chain?..." The plant girl asked coyly.

She reached for Eddie's face, but the boy moves it away before anything.

"No..."He said.

"Come on..."She said again in a flirty tone that had no effect on Eddie.

"My answers still no, Azalea..."Eddie said but the plant girl laughed snobbishly.

"Oh, Eddie. You're so hilarious..."She said.

"I'm not trying to be hilarious... at least not this time..." Eddie said.

"Ohohoho... you're funny..."She laughed.

"Not trying to be..." Eddie thought annoyed ..."I said no Azalea and I mean it..."He yelled.

Seriously, what did he have to do to get her to leave him alone?

Maybe if the boy worked on his ice powers the plant girl would leave him alone. Flowers hates the cold.

No, his dad always taught him that unless someone tries to actually attack you or someone else, don't use your powers on them.

Azalea, while a nuisance, is not a villain...though it is easy to forget.

Like right now.

"It's so cute how defensive you are with them..."Azalea said, giggling.

Eddie rolled his eyes.

"It's my duty... and you talking to them like they're beneath you only makes me want even less to do with you..." He said.

"So you say, but you do realize you are more than them, just like me..." The ghoul said.

Eddie hung his tongue out in disgust. Azalea giggled, getting close to Eddie and invading his personal space.

"Come on, darling. Why fight it? We were meant to be..."Azalea said as she fluttered her eyelashes at him.

Eddie, however, was just repulsed and he was even more so as the girl moved closer. He gritted his teeth and pushed her back.

"I said no..."Eddie said again to the plant girl.

She frowned.

"You're lucky that playing hard to get makes you cuter... it'll make my victory all the sweeter..."Azalea said.

"Eww..."Eddie shuddered.

She didn't even see him as a person, did she?

She just saw him as an accessory, just like how her mother saw each of her past beaus, including Azalea's dad, who was a guy that she "borrowed" from another ghoul and pretty much discarded as soon as she got bored with him, but not before she had Azalea that is.

Or so, that is what the rumors said, anyway.

Eddie didn't want to know and frankly, he didn't care. The idea she'd be anything like her mother made his skin crawl. And right now, his skin was crawling enough as Azalea kept harassing him.

"Stop..."The ghost boy groaned but she kept thinking that he was playing hard to get.

"Don't be too resistant... this is the story we'll tell our kids..." She said.

"Okay... lemme repeat that, but make it louder... EWW!..."Eddie yelled in disgust.

Azalea giggled, apparently not taking what he is saying seriously.

Just as she always does.

"You won't be saying that for long..." The ghoul replied, but it only served to disturb Eddie even more.

This was not the topic he would want with her of all monsters.

"No...I think I will be saying it for long..." Eddie repeated as he rolled his eyes.

"She's pestering me for a date and she's ALREADY thinking about being parents?! As if!..."He thought with disgust.

Sure, there are some guys who'd probably jump at the chance to date a girl with her looks but Eddie knew what she was like and how she only cared about his family's reputation, status and money. She didn't want a soul mate, she just wanted a trophy to make her look better when the paparazzi flashed their pictures.

As if she doesn't get enough attention as it is. She can't go one hour without someone buttering her up.

She kept trying to coax him, unaware of how annoyed he is right now.

"Come on Eddie, look at us. You're the most popular guy in our class and I'm the most popular girl, like, ever..."Azalea said.

"And ever so humble..."Eddie thought sarcastically.

Azalea might have looks and some guys are into her but she is not as popular as she likes to think. Looks aside, she doesn't exactly seem to try and hide her unpleasantness and her swiping other people things, be it clothes, accessories or even boyfriends is no secret.

It almost made him wish she were evil just as an excuse to fight her off but his folks raised him better than to attack a civilian, no matter how annoying they can be..

He wanted to make it clear he didn't even want to be in the same vicinity as her, but she ignored it.

She just kept talking.

"We are perfect for each other...besides, who is better match than me?..."Azalea said.

"Off the top of my head: Donna Possible, Sunny Long, Wanda Wilson, Mali Wakeman, Supergirl's daughter, Callie Drake and even Summer Grey, even with her being Tuck's ex..."Eddie thought, listing various girls that he knew and had a fairly good relationship with.

Then again, the ghost boy didn't need to remind himself how anyone was a better match. It was no contest to him, but he knew the ghoul wouldn't listen.

"I could care less about popularity or looks..." Eddie said

"You should, my soulmate..." Azalea said with a soft smirk, making Eddie cringe... "You are perfection among mansters. A real scream..."She said in a loving tone, much to the disgust to the boy she likes.

"Here we go again..." Eddie thought before saying.

"Azalea, let me stop you there. I don't want to go to the dance with you..."Eddie said for the millionth time.

The plant girl, realizing she wasn't going anywhere with the ghost boy, hissed a bit before saying the following

"Eidolonius, one day you will realize just what your place is. Hopefully while I still deem you worthy..."She said as she walked off with a huff while Eddie shook his head, since he knew that she'd be back.

"That girl can't take a hint..." He said annoyed, walking back over to his friends

Athens saw the look on his face knowing someone had ticked off Eddie.

"What happened this time?..." Athens asked.

"Azalea tried to ask me to the dance again. For the third time today..."Eddie muttered.

Athens shook his head.

"You check your phone for five minutes and you miss the good stuff..."He muttered.

"You didn't miss anything you haven't seen before..."Eddie said.

Just then, the others approached them.

"What happened?..."Selene asked.

"Eddie got asked out by you-know-who again..."Athens said.

"Azalea or Leona?..." Wyatt asked

"Azalea..."Eddie said and saw Selene's expression sour instantly.

The half vampires fists clenched tight around the ball, it almost popped in her hand.

"Easy there, sis. That's school property..."Bram said.

Selene loosened her grip on the ball SLIGHTLY, even then she still looked ticked.

She wished it was Azalea's head. It was an act she knew she'd regret... at some point in her life.

Eventually, she calmed down but she still looked irritated at the mere mention of the plant girl monster that is her arch-nemesis.

"I'm sorry but I just can't stand that ghoul..."Selene said.

"We noticed..."Bram said.

"Kind of hard NOT to notice..." Wyatt added

"Can you blame me?..."Selene said.

They shook their heads.

"No, no we can't..." Eddie said.

"Like how we can't blame you for rejecting her..." Athens said to Eddie.

Back when he was single, he didn't see what was so special about that plant monster model anyway. Sure, she was pretty but she made his sister look like a saint. Besides, there was a lot of bad blood between her mom and his mom.

Plus, she smelled too strongly for his tastes and his sense of smell was just the same as humans, he didn't want to imagine how bad it is to monsters with advance senses like Wyatt and Bram. Though they did keep more distance between them and the ghoul, so that said everything.

Fortunately, she only uses her strongest smells around someone she's interested in. Unfortunately, it was Eddie.

"She just can't get you're not interested. Did she use...uh... "the word" to describe humans again?..." Bram asked, knowing how much Eddie grew to hate that word.

Eddie nodded.

The friends dropped sighs as they contemplated the ghoul. While the term was still used today, tension of humans and monsters were in both sides, only a few used the term in a derogatory manner. Something that bothered the ghost boy to no end since he's a quarter human but the ghouls goes after him nonetheless.

Eddie wanted to change the subject now.

"Could we talk about anything else?..." Eddie asked

"Right, like the dance..." Wyatt added, walking over he put his arm around Eddie's shoulder.

"Speaking of the dance, I know this cool Tetramand girl on the wrestling team, Lindsey and this Piscciss Volann on the swim team that I think you'd have a lot of fun with. ..."Wyatt said.

Eddie frowned since it was obvious on HOW Wyatt knew those girls.

"I'm not interested in dating one of your ex's, dude..." Eddie said.

Selene shook her head.

"Come on, Wyatt. Be serious..."She said.

"I am being serious, just because we broke up doesn't mean they're not nice...besides, I only went on two dates with Lindsey at the most, we were never steady or anything. Like one or two dates, nothing serious..."Wyatt said.

Eddie sighed.

"Maybe the Tetramand girl first if I think about it, okay?..." Eddie asked.

Though, it was mostly to get him off of his back. It worked and they all nodded.

"So, anyone up for one last game before class?..."Selene asked.

Athens, Bram and Wyatt nodded while Eddie shook his head.

He was kind of tired and didn't want to deal with any more of their match making attempts. He appreciated what they were trying to do, he really did but he was getting tired of listening to his friends trying to set him up with former girlfriends and girls who barely even knew him outside of his reputation or already only liked him as a friend

The warning bell rang but the twins, Wyatt and Athens had free period next, unlike him.

"Never thought I'd think this... but saved by the bell..."He thought.

"I'm going to head to class. I'll see you guys later..."He said.

"See ya..."His friends said, realizing that he just wanted to be alone right now.

Eddie grabbed his backpack, phasing through the wall instead of using the door. Once he was alone and away from his friends, Eddie let out a frustrated sigh.

This was why he didn't want to even go to this stupid dance.

Girls like Azalea were harassing him left and right and he only barely managed to avoid most of them so far. At least news about the dance didn't get online yet. Because then he'd have someone like Tawnie showing up trying to get him a date and Leona...he didn't even want to talk about HER.

He was just lucky she seems to be playing hooky today. That ghoul was nuttier then an Arkham inmate, though at least, unlike Azalea, she hasn't asked him out like a hundred times today, even if she does drive him just as crazy.

Even Bram and Wyatt don't want to ask her out due to how much trouble she causes. And that was saying something since both boys weren't too picky when it comes to girls. Both were popular with girls in their own ways and while they were pretty girl crazy, were harmless and mean well.

However, Eddie unfortunately never found anything other than obsessive fans half the time. Well, more than half given they litter the hallways of the school. Even going to the Nasty Burger had the same environment. It was tough being the son of a public super hero.

The fan girl never ended but at the very least, thanks to the mayor and principal's actions, they can't harass him during school hours without getting in trouble...though girls like Azalea seem to forget about those rules or work around them.

It didn't stop them from sending him fan mail or giving him starry eyes whenever they see him, though he knew that they just want to become famous for dating the son of Danny Phantom and nothing else.

Just like Azalea and Leona.

"Let's not open that door..."He muttered under his breath.

Eddie sighed in frustration.

It's not like he was expecting a perfect match to just fall into his lap but seriously! Was there any nice girl that he wasn't already friends with or saw him as a brother or acquaintance at best?

He wasn't expecting his dream girl to magically fall out of the sky But there had to be someone who he could like and who liked him for who he is, not what he is.

But who?

He was too lost in his own thoughts to see where he was going and he bumped into someone, knocking over what was in their hands.

"Oh man, I'm sorry..." Eddie said, dropping down.

He helped pick up books and flyers for the dance.

"It's cool..." Spectina said.

Eddie looked up seeing the smiling face of Spectina Geiss.

"Hi Eddie..."She said with a smile.

"Hi Spectina..." Eddie said, getting up.

"Sorry to drop in. I didn't mean to be a party crasher..." He quipped getting a giggle from Tina.

"It's fine..."She said, kneeling down as she helped Eddie pick up her things.

"You looked like you were distracted..."The purebred ghost girl said.

"I kinda was..." Eddie remarked as she picked up the books.

Looking at the ghost girl, the boy started to notice her in a different light that hadn't occurred to him in their years of knowing each other.

"She's really pretty when she's like this..."He thought, before snapping out of it.

Where did that come from?

Eddie shook his head. It had to be because his friends were messing with him.

Besides, it's not like Spectina actually liked him...right?

He would have noticed. He is sure he would have.

Spectina blinked at his silence.

"Are you alright?..."She asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Azalea was getting on my nerves again..." He said.

Spectina frowned

"Oh..."She said.

"Yeah, she wanted me to take her to the dance..."Eddie muttered.

Her frown got bigger

"Oh..." Spectina said her hands started to clench..."I'm sure you'll have a good time?..."She said, looking down.

"We will..." Eddie agreed... "Separately, since I turned her down..."Eddie said.

"Really?..."Spectina asked, looking hopeful.

"Yeah?..."Eddie said, not registering her tone.

Spectina smiled again.

"So, you don't have a date for the dance yet?..." She asked, sending all of the signals.

"No, not yet..." Eddie said, clueless like..."My friends have been trying to play matchmaker though..." He added.

"They have?..."Spectina said.

Eddie nodded and laughed

"Honestly, I think Bram and Wyatt are more interested in finding dates for themselves..."He said, chuckling.

Spectina giggled, despite herself.

"Well, were you expecting anything else from those two?..." She asked.

Eddie kept laughing.

"I really shouldn't with those two. It's like all they think about is ghouls..."He said in amusement.

Spectina was silent for a moment she opened her mouth to say something.

"Eddie, wo-..."

The bell rang. Eddie and Spectina looked up and Spectina's eyes flashed with disappointment 'darn it'

"I've got to get to class. See ya, Spectina..." Eddie said, running off to class.

"See ya..." She said sadly

The female specter let out a sad sigh as she saw the cute ghostly hybrid faze into the school, oblivious to her feelings. It hurt a lot that she can't get the nerve to just tell him how she feels but she always chokes at the last minute

Just like she always does.

If only she were brave like Eddie. If only she could to stop being so cowardly and tell him how she felt and ask him to the dance but either she chickens out or something interrupts her and she looses her chance.

Every...single...time...

"Oh Eddie..." The girl ghost said sadly as she thought of the boy that she is so fond of.

Ever since she was a little ghoul and was taken to her first Chainsgiving feast, she had met Eddie who was the only kid who would play with her since the other kids thought she was weird due to always hiding and hardly talking.

But not Eddie.

She can still remember the first time they met, just before the games started and she was nervous since it was her first time competing and she was so nervous, she thought she was going to phase into the ground and never come out.

It had been a habit to do so after all. She was just so shy and nervous that it made it difficult to connect with other ghouls. Even before then, none of the other ghostly kids wanted to play with the weird, quiet kid that she was back then.

But Eddie wasn't like that

No, he was so sweet and kind. He was the only one who wanted to play with the "weird ghoul".

"Hey..." The quarter ghost greeted when they first spoke. The first time any ghoul, boy or girl, noticed her there.

Eddie stuck around and got to know her. And her love was planted as a seed, which grew as the years went by.

"Ahhhh~..." The ghost girl cooed as she reminisced.

Ever since then, she has been smitten with him but she can't seem able to tell him how she truly feels about him. He stole her heart and he didn't even know it. But, every time she tried to speak her feelings, they would get stuck in her throat. If it wasn't for her shyness, she'd swear someone hexed her.

She wasn't, and that was the problem.

No matter how hard she tries, it always blows up in her face. Once literally, though that was a tale for another time.

She wished she was brave like Eddie. He was so funny, sweet, strong, compassionate and loyal. It was no wonder he was so popular with the girls. The ghoul could feel her heart dancing thinking about his qualities.

It was no wonder that spoiled garden weed Azalea liked him, but she was so wrong for him. She only wanted him for his fame and money. She didn't deserve her Eddie...not that he WAS hers.

Spectina sighed sadly.

Eddie deserved someone better then a ghostly chicken like her.

But her heart wouldn't let her quit.

"I thought the dance would be my big chance to tell him how I feel but...I blew it, again...How can I tell him how I feel if I can't even work the nerve to ask him to dance...even as friends..." Spectina thought

The green haired ghost girl let out a sad sigh as she sat onto of a brick wall by herself...

"Why can't I just spit it out?..." The ghoul thought out loud.

Spectina remembered the time she saw his team fighting a dragon ghost. He was so confident and brave, he didn't look afraid even for a second

"Why would Eddie want a chicken like me?..." She thought sadly.

Compared to his many friends like Donna Possible, Sunny Long and even Summer Grey, the new Red Huntress, she couldn't hold a candle to them. Each and every one of them could manage to win a guy like Eddie over if they felt like it, no problem.

"Those girls have more than the courage. They have looks, brains, and skills. What can I do?..." Spectina asked herself.

Just then, a stray black cat had appeared from behind a dumpster. It is Figaro, the campus stray and one of the sweetest little kitty cats in the world.

At least to Spectina, he is.

"Hi Figaro..."The ghoul said as the cat purred upon seeing her and snuggled closer.

Some ghouls like Azalea thought he was a dirty stray but Spectina always had a soft spot for the black cat, especially after he hissed at Leona after the mangy cat girl had "accidentally" spill her drink on her and some onto Figaro, who instinctively disliked her.

Anyway, Spectina found herself petting the stray black cat, who purred happily.

"Such a good kitty..."She cooed.

The creature's adorable stretching distracting herself from her thoughts for a moment as she thought back to the ghost boy. He was good at that, like a bundle and of squishy therapy but it wasn't long before her thoughts went back to her unrequited love for Eddie Phantom.

Oh, how she would wanted it reciprocated with all the warm and fuzziness the cat would give. If only he didn't have one trait from which he inherited from his father.

"Clueless..."She thought, frustrated.

With his cluelessness and her cowardice, she may never have a chance with him. He may never notice the feelings that she has for him.

The ghostly girl sighed. She could remember asking how her mother meet Phanty and Danny. A story which ended...not bad for her mother, but heartbreak always hurts.

Looks like history is destine to repeat itself, unless she ever gets over her insecurities and gets the courage to tell him how she feels...and he does not turn her down, that is.

Spectina sighed sadly again

"Will he ever see just how much he means to me? Will we ever end up together?..."She sometimes thought to herself.

That was the million dollar question as the ghoul danced along the howling winds. The cat a silent but willing partner as the girl once again thought about what could happen if Eddie ever returned her feelings.

Spectina imagined herself having her first slow dance with Eddie at the dance on Friday, then going on dates with him and soon sharing a first kiss.

It would all have been so perfect and so wonderful.

"Eddie..." Spectina cooed as she thought of the dreamy ghost boy with beautiful green eyes and a beautiful smile that leaves her weak at the knees.

But alas, that was only ever going to be a fantasy since she was too much of a coward to ask him out. She'd blown every chance she's had so far to be with him and still she wanted him. It was like her heart couldn't leave the part she gave alone.

It wanted to be whole.

She wanted to be with him but maybe she'd never get the chance. This morning was the latest in attempts to be more than friends. And she didn't want to recall the entire list. Either he didn't see or he misinterpreted it as her being friendly. It could be one or the other, or even both.

Anyway, who knows before Eddie would find a girl that he liked? Someone who wasn't so much of a chicken.

At least she knows he'll never pick someone like Azalea or Leona, two of the meanest girls at school who always mistreat her and everyone else.

Neither of them deserved someone as wonderful as Eddie.

One just wanted him as a prop to get on the cover of those trashy tabloids and the other just wanted him because she'd get to be the most popular girl in the school if she was his ghoulfriend.

Eddie deserved so much better than them. So much better than her, if that is what she believes.

"What am I going to do, Figaro? I want Eddie to like me as more than a friend but...I just can't say the words..."She whispered sadly as she continued to pet the cat slowly, the creature cuddled closer.

Though part of her still wanted the ghost boy, another argued for her to give up. It kept saying that her chances were gone, as if it were logic or a mantra.

And Spectina was starting to hear it again.

"It's never to become...For I am not the one..."She thought as tears swelled in the ghoul's eyes as they gathered and trailed on her face.

"I'm not his perfect match..I am not the one..."She said, the tears fell from her eyes, landing on her skirt.

"Meow..." Figaro said with a paw out in concern. The ghost girl petted the cat as she sulked.

"Oh Eddie..."She said before she faded away before anyone could see her like this.

She didn't want to bring any unwanted attention onto herself, she just wiped her tears, sucked it up and fazed into the school go on with her day.

"Meow..."Figaro said as he went after his ghoulish friend, who was feeling so down lately over her unrequited love.

Would her feeling ever reach through the clueless ghost boy's skull?

Only time could tell.
