Chapter 4
It's been four days since Arizona arrived at the dreadful school and it was time. Time run the dreaded obstacle course. They were supposed to do it three days ago, but with the non-stop rain, their Lt. didn't want to take any chances of anyone in her unit getting hurt with the way the weather conditions were. The few days Arizona had been there, the weather had switched from snow to rain and ever since, it hadn't stopped raining up. It still wasn't really a good day with the cloudiness, but it was somewhat better than it down pouring. But after three days of rain, it was very muddy. Arizona was excited though. She couldn't wait to show off to her fellow cadets what she was capable of. When they finally arrived at the spot Callie had said for them to meet her at, Callie began counting heads as everyone else tried to keep themselves from stepping in the mud. Callie stopped then recounted before looking confusedly at the faces that were staring back at her.
"Where's Yang and Grey?" she asks her Cadets. Arizona just let out a snort, then spoke up.
"Who cares?" she chuckles.
"You have something you'd like to say, Robbins?" Callie asks her, stepping into her personal space.
"No Ma'am," Arizona says, clearing her throat.
"That's what I thought. Alright, we're going to get started on the obstacle course. Yang and Grey can just join us afterwards and run laps for showing up late. Now, were going to rearrange into teams. Altman, Robbins, you two will get to choose teams, and then, I will choose the leaders," Teddy and Arizona just smiled at each other and began to choose their teams.
"I will take Karev," Arizona announced. Alex Karev joined Arizona's group just as Teddy picked her teammate.
"I will take Shepherd," Teddy says. Amelia joined Teddy's group, then leaned over and whispered in the taller blonde's ear.
"You made the right choice," she says with a smirk. It was Arizona's turn to pick another teammate. She was a little unsure who to pick next, so she went with her gut and just blurted out a name.
"I'll take Kepner," Arizona states. Once all the teams were chosen, they all followed their Lt. to the obstacle course. Once they got to course, Arizona's eyes grew wide. She couldn't believe how big it was.
"Holy Shit!" she exclaims, "You didn't tell me it was fucking huge," Teddy just laughs at her friend as they continued walking.
"Alright, listen up, this is how it's going to work, we are going to start with the low log balance, then you will climb over the wall, tag a teammate…" As Callie was going over instructions with the obstacle course, Arizona tried her best to focus on what she was saying, but she was more interested in looking the woman up and down. Just looking at the curves the woman has, and smile that could met an iceberg, everything about the woman standing before her makes her stomach flutter and her body ache with want. She was so focused on the woman's body; she didn't even hear her Lt. tell them to get moving. By the time she pulled her eyes away from the Latina, everyone was walking away to get into their positions to begin. Before Teddy could walk away, Arizona grabbed the taller blonde's arm.
"Where am I supposed to be?" she asks her. Teddy just smirks.
"Weren't you paying attention?"
"A little," Arizona lied. Teddy just raised her brow in question, "Okay, maybe I wasn't, so what. Where am I supposed to be?"
"Next time quit gawking over our Lt. and pay attention. You and I are down by the pit with the wiring," Arizona let out a sigh, then followed Teddy to the muddy pit.
"Great!" she says, with not so much enthusiasm.
"Let's go, move them asses," I shout to my unit, "I want them muscles to burn," Callie watches as everyone in her unit hustle around through the obstacle course. Some of them were climbing over the wall and working the ropes. Out of the corner of her eye, see could see Arizona and Teddy standing and waiting to take their turns for the wired pit, "Robbins, Altman, let's go. Move it. I want to see some hustling," Teddy didn't wait for her teammate to slap her hand before taking off, crawling through the mud. However, Arizona just stood there, watching Teddy run the course.
"There is no fucking way I'm crawling through that," Arizona huffs out. Callie made her way over to the young blonde and stands next to her.
"Something wrong, Maggot?" Callie growls. Arizona just raises her brow.
"You expect me to get down and crawl through that mud, that looks, oh I don't know, a foot deep?"
"It's either that or run twenty laps. Take your pick," Callie flatly states. Arizona just scoffs. Callie chuckles and shakes her head, "you're a real piece of work, Robbins. My job is to keep you out of trouble, and your job is to do what you're supposed to. Now get your ass down there, get dirty and move that ass along before I have you running laps," Arizona just pursed her lips together to keep from smiling. She leaned in and whispered into the Latina's ear.
"You're hot when you're all demanding. Anyone ever tell you that?" A blush forms on the Latina's cheeks which causes Arizona to chuckle. She gets down on her hands and knees and begins to crawl through the muddy course.
After another hour, Callie finally decided to call it quits.
"Alright, gather around, let's go," the Lt. calls out to her crew. When everyone was gathered around her, she finally spoke again, "nice work today. Starting next week, we will be running this course twice a week. Mondays and Fridays. Three times a week if you if get out of line," Arizona looked at her with a puzzled look, then raised her hand.
"Yes, Robbins? You have a comment? A question?"
"Yeah, I do. Why twice a week? Why not just one day a week?"
"Because the more you run this course, the faster you will be. Any other questions?" Arizona was about to question her Lt. again before an elbow met her rib cage.
"Ow! What the hell?" she looks to the taller blonde, giving her a death glare.
"Shut it!" Teddy growls, "another note, don't question the Lt.,"
"If it keeps your elbow away from my ribs, then fine," Arizona snarled. She turns her attention back to Callie who had a very pleased smile on her face.
"Thank you, Altman," Callie says, "Alright, since we are done with the course for the day, I want five laps, then hit the showers. You're all starting to smell, and I won't have that. Now Go!" The unit took off to run their laps just like they were asked of them.
"You need to lighten up," Teddy says to Arizona as they enter the showers, "these people are worse than your parents, they will eat you alive if you don't comply,"
"Yeah whatever," Arizona huffs, "they're the ones who need to lighten up. Stop treating everyone like it's a damn concentration camp,"
"They're just trying to make us better people," Teddy tells her.
"Yeah, well they aren't trying hard enough," Arizona says, rolling her eyes.
"And you think you can do better without this place?"
"Uh...yeah..I don't need to be here,"
"Okay, well news flash, Princess, you are here. and you better straighten up, because if not, your next option would be jail and if it had been up to me, you wouldn't even be here. You'd be behind bars. You had been given a second chance, don't fucking blow it," Teddy says, walking away. Arizona knew Teddy was right. She got off easy and she was taking it for granted. She was given a second chance to straighten out her life by being here. Most kids wouldn't have gotten that lucky. She blew out a breath, then took the shower stall next to her friend.
