Chapter 6

Arizona's P.O.V:

"MOM! It's been two weeks! I've been here two weeks and every time I've tried to call, Dad is always doing something," I yell into the phone.

"I know, Zona but you know your dad, he's a busy man,"

"Yeah, busy avoiding his daughter," I huff out.

"He's not avoiding you, baby girl," my mother says, trying to assure me, which I know was a lie. He barely looked me in the eye the day I left to even come to this stupid place.

"He is. He hasn't even looked at me the same way since that day at the police station. He's ashamed of me,"

"He's not ashamed, he's just…just disappointed, that's all. He will call you when he gets the chance, Sweetie,"

"Whatever," I say quietly, wiping away a tear that threatened to fall, "is Tim around? I'd like to at least say hi to him,"

"Hang on a minute," she says. I hear shuffling on her end of the phone, then a male's voice come on.

"Hey baby sis," Tim greets. A smile forms on my face hearing my brothers voice for the first time in three weeks.

"Hey, how's everything over there? How's Dad?" If one person would tell me the truth, it would be my brother. He's been my best friend growing up and has never lied to me. He was the first person I opened to when I first realized I liked girls.

"Oh, you know him, busy. He's been on a really big case lately, coming home all hours of the night," he says with a chuckle. Great! Now they have my brother covering up for him too. The line got quiet for a minute, then I heard his voice once more, "we haven't talked much, Zo. Dad and I. He's avoiding everyone. He's been working so much to avoid coming home," I knew it!

"I kind of figured. Mom said he's been way too busy to even talk to me. I knew she was just covering for him,"

"Yeah, well, you know how she gets. But it's not just you, he's avoiding all of us. He doesn't handle emotions too well. He bottles everything up. I guess that just comes with his job,"

"Yeah, right," I say, "well I only have a few more minutes to talk, then we have to get to the shooting range. They're teaching us to fire a gun,"

"So, let's make use of the time we have. Tell me what's been going on,"

"Well, first off, I met this girl," I say, a smile crossing my face as Lt. Torres comes to mind.

"Oh, yeah? Who is she? Is she cute?"

"Cute doesn't even begin to describe her," I say with a chuckle, "she's sexy. She's got the most gorgeous body, the most gorgeous curves…"

"Okay, stop!" Tim says, "stop, that's enough. Because it's just going to give me a boner,"

"Gross! I really didn't need to know that Timothy. Besides, you can't have her. She's mine," I say with a little bit of seriousness in my tone.

"So, when can I meet her?" he asks.

"I don't know," I say, sounding a little defeated, "we haven't gotten together yet. But, when we do and they allow us to have visitors, I'll let you know," The line fell silent again, then hear closing of a door on his end, "Tim, are you there?"

"Yeah, I'm here. I just had to get away from ear shot. I plan on visiting New York next week. Maybe we can arrange a visit or something?"

"Yeah! Yeah of course, when do you come in?"

"I should be there Monday. That's four days from now," he says to me, "I've already booked a hotel room close by. It's like maybe five minutes away,"

"Well, I'll see if I could talk to my Lt. and see if she could accompany me," I say with excitement.

"Perfect. I'll see you on Monday, Zona," Tim says to me.

"Can't wait," I say with a huge grin on my face, "but I must go now. It's time for to head to the shooting range, but I will see you on Monday sometime,"

"Talk to you later, Sis," he says before hanging up. After getting off the phone with Tim, I couldn't help but let out a squeal of excitement, which gets Teddy's attention. She looks at me, furrowing her brow in confusion.

"What's got you excited?" she asks, "don't tell me Lt. Torres sent you nude pictures,"

"No!" I say, giving her an evil glare, "My brother will be coming into town on Monday. He wants to see me," I say with a wide grin.

"Wow, that's awesome. How are you going to manage that one? You know we have the obstacle course on Monday, right?"

"I'll figure something out," I shrug, "come on, we have we need to get to the shooting range,"

When Teddy and I arrived at the shooting range, everyone was already there. Torres and Hahn were standing back, watching the unit fire their weapons.

Teddy and I take the two bays that were closest to the door so Callie wouldn't notice us and jump on our case for being late.

"Have you ever fired a gun before?" Teddy asks, as she loads hers up.

"No, not really," I say to her, loading my weapon up as well.

"Okay, I'll show you," she says, joining me in my bay. She stands behind me as I hold my gun up and prepare to fire.

"Okay, so, what you will do is put your elbow…" she says, adjusting my arm, "Up like that, then make sure you keep both eyes open and your sites on the target,"

"Like this?" I ask, standing in position.

"Yup, like that. Good. Now hold your breath…. then…squeeze the trigger, but don't pull it," I squeeze the trigger like I was instructed, but the feel of the gun after firing nearly knocks me off my feet and I end up missing the target. Teddy just laughs as curse words after curse words fly from my mouth.

"You're not concentrating, kid. When we do this, you need to concentrate otherwise someone is going to get hurt,"

"I'm well aware," I say, shaking my head.

"Here, let me show you," Altman says. She walks back to her bay and picks her gun up off the table.

"Elbow like this..." she says, adjusting her elbow the way in needed to be, "I've got both eyes on open and on the target. Now all I'm going to do is squeeze the trigger, like this," she says, demonstrating. She squeezes the trigger and fires, landing perfectly on her target.

"Wow, you hit that perfectly," I say with a grin.

"It will take some time, but you will get it," she says, "now, try again," I get back into my stance and do everything I'm supposed to, just like she showed me. Squeezing the trigger, I fire my fun and lands right on the outside of the targets head.

"Not bad. You were closer this time, just try to stay focused and always keep your eyes on the target,"

After a few more shots, Torres finally decided it was enough practice for us.

"Alright, that's enough for today. You're free for the day," she says, dismissing us. Everyone gathers out of the range as I stand back and wait for her to pass me by.

"Lt. Torres, may I speak with you a minute?" I say, grabbing the woman's arm before she could leave. She hangs back, waiting for everyone to file out of the room.

"What you want, Robbins?"

"I was wondering if I could talk to you a minute," I say to her. When she looks at me, our eyes lock on each other's.

"Make it quick," she says.

"I was wondering, if..if…"

"If what? Robbins? Spit it out,"

"You see…my brother is coming into town Monday, and I was wondering if you could take me to go meet him? He said he will be staying at the hotel that's only five minutes from here,"

"You do realize, we have the obstacle course Monday, right?"

"Yeah, I know, but I was wondering if you would let me out of it and take me to go see him. I don't know how visitation works here and I haven't seen him in a month…and…and…" I rambled nervously.

"I can have Major Hahn take over the obstacle course for me on Monday, and if anyone asks, you had an appointment to get to. That's all I can do, but just this once,"

"Thank you, Lt. I appreciate it," I say, flashing her a dimpled smile.

"You're welcome," she says, returning a smile. I lean in close to her, my lips just inches from her ear.

"Anyone ever tell you that you have a killer smile? It's sexy," I purr, then walk away.

*Hope it's not too boring. Let me know your thoughts *
