Chapter 9

Arizona's P.O.V:

"Way to go Robbins, that was a real stupid move," I sigh as I walked back to my room. Tears began to fall at the thought of what happened back in Callie's room. The way she pushed me away after sharing the best kiss of my life made my heart sink. I've never felt so rejected. I sigh once more as I open the door to my room. Teddy was nowhere around, so I decided to take advantage of the quietness. I grabbed my notebook and pen off the desk and climbed up on my bed and began to write.

"Arizona! Arizona wake up," I hear the voice tell me. When I open my eyes, I see Teddy standing on the side of the bed grinning at me, "Hey sleepy head," I hear her say.

"What? Go away" I growl. I roll over where my back was facing my roommate.

"Seriously, it's time to wake up," she says, "we're going to be late for roll call, you know how Torres is when we're late,"

"Roll call? What time is it?"

"Almost 8:30 a.m.,"

"What the hell?" I yell, shooting straight up in my bed, "how is it almost 8 already?"

"8:30" she corrects me, and you've been asleep for hours. You missed dinner last night and breakfast,"

"Why didn't you wake me sooner?" I growl, hopping off the side of the bunks, not bothering to use the ladder.

"I tried. But you just swatted at me and rolled over," she laughs. I rush around trying to get dressed, "so what happened with you and Callie yesterday?"

"What?" I stop what I was doing and looked at her.

"What happened between you and Callie? You said you were going to see her, then this morning when I see her, she looked like someone ran over her dog. So, again, what happened?"

"Nothing," I lie. I go back to what I was originally doing, trying to not make any kind of eye contact with my new best friend.

"I don't buy that," she says, watching me.

"Well, it's the truth. Come on, we're going to be late," I say before walking out the door.

"Grey!" I hear my Lieutenant call out. Shit!

"Here!" I hear Meredith say as I snuck in line, hoping and praying that Callie didn't see me.

"Kepner!"

"Here," Kepner replies.

"Robbins!... you're late," Callie says before I could respond.

"I'm sorry, I over sl-"

"Save it, Robbins," she barked, "Yang!"

"Here," Cristina calls back. After roll was taken, Callie turned to look at us.

"Alright, today, with it being Tuesday, we are on arms. I want you all to go with Hahn to the armory, grab your rifles then get in line. Got it? Alright! Move out!" Everyone followed Hahn to the armory as instructed, "Not you, Robbins," Callie says grabbing my arm.

"Lt. Torres, I'm sorry for my lateness, it won't happen again," I say, looking into her deep brown eyes.

"No, it won't happen again. If it does, you will run. Understood?"

"Yes, Lt. Torres," I say nervously.

"Good. Now go," I jogged over to the armory as quick as I could.

"My lunch is making me depressed, and I haven't even started eating it yet," I say, taking the empty seat next to Teddy in the lunch room.

"So, you going to tell me what happened last night?"

"What do you want to know? I went to see Callie, that was it. End of story,"

"I don't buy that," Teddy snorts, taking a bite of her apple.

"You can buy whatever you want, but that's my story,"

"Story? Really? So, you mean to tell me that after you went to see Callie, you came back to the room and fell asleep?"

"Yup," I say quickly, "you know, it the few weeks I've been here, I like arms the most?"

"Stop changing the subject," Teddy growled, "what happened?"

"I kissed her," I say, lowering my voice so no one else who was around can hear me. The last thing I needed was nosey people lurking and overhearing me say that I kissed one of the Lieutenants.

"You did what?" Teddy says a little too loud for my liking.

"Shh, not so loud,"

"Did you just say you kissed Callie?" she says, lowering her voice.

"Did I stutter?"

"How was it?" Teddy asks with a smirk.

"If felt...amazing. I felt like we had a connection. Have you ever kissed someone, and you felt like a bolt of lightning zipped through your body?"

"Oh, it was that good huh?"

"It was the best," I say, nonchalantly, "it was a life-changing kiss,"

"You going to talk to her about it?"

"I can't,"

"Why not? I think you should,"

"Well I think not," I snap, "Can't I just sit here and eat my lunch, please,"

"Fine. But I'm telling you, you'll feel better once you talk to her," Teddy says, taking another bite of her apple.

"Can it, Altman," I growl. She just chuckles and eats her piece of fruit in silence. Me, on the other hand, my mind wanders to Callie and before I know it, my eyes are looking around the room to see if I could spot the woman who has been on my mind.

"She's over there," Teddy says, pointing her finger to the lunch line.

"I see that," I say, rolling my eyes.

"Go talk to her," she says, giving me a little nudge.

"No way," I respond, pushing her arm away. After ten minutes, I push my tray away and lay my head down on the table.

"Hey, I'll be right back okay," Not moving from my position, I give her a nod and let out a breath of air. I hear Teddy's chair slide back with a squeak and footsteps walking away. Before I know it, I feel a tap on my shoulder. When I look up, I see Callie standing over me.

"Are you okay?" she asks.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I lie.

"Oh..okay, because Altman just told me to come over to talk to you because you needed to talk to me about something,"

"I'm going to kill her," I mumble under my breath.

"What?"

"Nothing. Look, Lt. I don't know what she said to you, but I'm fine. I don't have anything to talk to you about. And I especially don't want to talk to you about my actions last night," I stand up from my spot at the table to leave the cafeteria, not bothering to put my tray up. After walking out the door, I suddenly turn around when I hear my name.

"Look, I'm sorry for what I said last night," Callie says, her voice getting quiet, "I didn't really mean it, okay. Well, some part, but not all of it,"

"I rather not talk about this right now. Especially not here where everyone can hear us,"

"Then, let's go back to your room?" she suggests.

"Fine," I scoff out. I walked to my room with Callie on my heels.

"Okay, let's talk," I say, waving her inside, then looking out to make sure it was clear to shut the door.

"I like you, Arizona," Callie began, "I think about you all the time. Day and Night,"

"You have a funny way of showing it," I snort out.

"I know after what I said last night, you have doubts, but it's true. You have no idea how hard this is for me. Me being a Lieutenant and you being a Cadet. Not to mention..."

"I'm too young for you," I cut her off, "look we already established this last night. I'm almost 18. I'm a big girl. If it makes you feel any better, in the state of Baltimore, I'm old enough to consent to sex or whatever with any persons over the age of 18,"

"You know the law," Callie says with a smirk.

"Of course, I know the law, my dad is a cop, remember? I've been wanting to follow in his footsteps and become one myself. I've even read in that as long as a woman or a man...guy...man...whatever is old enough to consent, it's no longer considered statutory ra-," I'm instantly cut off by Callie's lips on mine. The kiss only lasted for a few seconds...minutes, hell I don't know, and I don't care. Callie was the first to pull back.

"Look, if we do this, no sex. Just kissing... And not a word anyone. Understand? Otherwise, our fun stops,"

"Yeah, I understand," I say. I lean in for another kiss, but she stops me.

"Another thing, you can call me Calliope-Callie, but only behind closed doors,"

"Okay, I understand, Calliope," I grin.

"Good," she says, returning the smile.

"Now, Can I kiss you again?" I ask impatiently.

"Yes, you can," she chuckles, then leans in and connects her lips with mine once more.

*Another update for you. Hope it wasn't too bad. Let me hear your thoughts. *
