Ozpin has heard and seen many things in his long life. But this threw him for a loop. He was called by a hospital to inform him that they found a cure for Miss Rose. Which was none other than Grimm DNA! The Doctor couldn't wait. Ruby was dying and they inject her with it. The cure worked quickly, wiping out all the black blood from her body and even her soul. Which sounded impossible, but it happened.

He appears at the hospital, hoping to get more of an update on Miss Rose. He wasn't alone this time. Glynda was was him. She might be hard with students, but she does care about them. She was fully aware that Ruby was much younger than the rest of the students, thanks to Ozpin letting her join two years early, but hearing that she almost die really brought her down. Strange enough, James Ironwood came along, having heard the news. He was surprised to hear that Ruby survive the Black Creature, which Ozpin named Death Soul, due to it attacking Ruby's soul. Even Winter came along. She recalls getting a call from Weiss about Ruby, claiming something was killing her, and she needed to talk to her.

"Headmaster Ozpin! What brings you here?" A Doctor asked.

"I'm here to see Miss Ruby Rose. She's one of my students at Beacon." He said.

"Ah, yes. We were about to inform her family about the miracle one of the discovered." He said.

"I find it odd that Grimm DNA was a cure," Ozpin said.

"Same here, but we remember what was said when it was attacking her. It was going after her soul." The Doctor said, leading them down the hall.

"We remember that Grimms lack a soul, without a soul, the infection was overpowered and removed. We don't know why it left Miss Rose's soul alone, or why it didn't try attacking her itself, but she's alive and well." The Doctor explains.

"Is she awake?" James asked.

"No, but..." The Doctor said, unsure.

"What is it?" Glynda asked, feeling relieved to hear that Ruby was alive.

"Maybe you should see for yourselves." The Doctor said, stopping at a door.

He opens it and everyone looks at Ruby in shock. While clearly resting, there were a few things new about her. For one, she had ears on the top of her head. They looked more like wolf ears when they look closer. Her fingernails grew longer, and were sharp, almost as if they were claws. The Doctor then puts on a glove and carefully moves the sleeping girl's mouth to show she has fangs in place of her teeth.

"What in Oum?" Winter asked, shocked.

"What happened to her?" James asked.

"It appears that the cure has some side effects. It looks as if the Grimm DNA has merged with her own. It appears that Miss Rose is no longer a human. She's now part Grimm." The Doctor said.

Ozpin looks at Ruby. He knew this wasn't going to go unnoticed when she leaves. But she was alive, and he'll help her get through this.

Ironwood looks at Ruby and started to think. Winter notices his look and sighs. She really hopes he doesn't use her for what he's thinking of.

A few days later...

Yang was in deep depression when she heard her sister was dying. She felt like she failed Ruby's mother. Nothing her friends could do would cheer her up. Expect when Ozpin told them she was cured. Yang didn't want to wait. She demands to see her sister right away. Ozpin didn't when he told her he couldn't see her yet. He knew Yang would be mad, but he knew her mother. If Yang was anything like her, she would listen and come to an understanding. Luckily, her friends also calm her down. Ozpin promised to inform them when they can see her.

Weiss was surprised that Winter was sticking around for a few days and the two sisters spent time talking. Weiss did question her sister about Ruby, but she was sworn into secrecy. But she did tell her that she was recovering and well.

At the Hospital...

Ruby groans as she opens her eyes. Her vision was still blurry, but it started to clear up.

"What? Where am I?" She asked, tired.

It took her a few seconds to notices where she was.

"The Hospital? How did I get here? I was talking to Jaune at Beacon." She asked before feeling a twitch on her head.

Ruby reach up to scratch her head before she saw her hand. While looking mostly normal, she notices her nails were long and sharp. She stares at it before feeling the twitch again. She reached up with her other hand and felt a pair of ears on her head. Ruby started to panic. She had to find a mirror! She notices a tray next to her and grabs it, shoving everything on it off. She held it up and looked at her reflection. Sure enough, she did have ears. Wolf's ears. Ruby then notices her teeth, causing her to shake.

Soon all of Vale hear a loud shriek through the air.

It took the doctors ten minutes to calm her down. It only was Ozpin appeared that they got Ruby under control. Ozpin told the doctors to leave before sitting down.

"Professor?" She ask, scared.

"What do you remember, Miss Rose?" Ozpin asked, calmly.

"I remember the Recon Mission. The boar that attacked us. It turns into a strange black ball and hits me in the chest. I remember feeling tired and hot. I can't remember what happened when I was talking to Jaune." Ruby said.

Ozpin nodded. It was time for the truth.

"Miss Rose, the black ball, as you can it, was actually a dangerous parasite that I call Death Soul. From what the doctors told us, it was attacking your soul. It was only thanks to a cure that you were saved." He said.

Ruby was surprised to hear that, but it didn't answer one question.

"Why do I look like a Faunus?" She asked.

"You're not. It turns out the cure was Grimm DNA." Ozpin said.

"Grimm DNA?" Ruby asked.

"Yes, from the looks of it, it's a Beowulf DNA," Ozpin said, having taken a closer look during Ruby's recovery.

"So, I'm a Grimm now?" Ruby asked, scared.

"Part of one, Miss Rose. I don't know if there's a way to change you back but you might have to get used to your new features. I'm sure Miss Belladonna will help you with that." He said.

Ruby sighs.

"How long was I out?" She asked.

"Three days. You gave everyone quite a scare. I've never seen Glynda so worried." Ozpin said.

"Why about Yang? My friends?" Ruby asked.

"Waiting for you to wake up. Speaking of which, I better let them know." Ozpin said, getting up.

Suddenly the door opens and someone came rushing in.

"Ruby!"

"P-Penny!"

Ruby was surprised to see the android girl. She was hugging her a little too tight, though. Even tighter than Yang.

"I'm so glad you're okay! I was so worried about you!" She said, not letting go.

"Penny! Can't...breath!" Ruby gasps.

Ozpin walks over and pulls Penny off her. When she notices, she smiles sheepishly.

"Sorry." She said.

"Sounds like one of your friends couldn't wait," Ozpin said, smiling.

Ruby sighs and smiles. Penny was no time in talking to her first friend, happy she was alive and well. Ozpin walks out of the room, ready to inform Miss Rose's friends and family.

A few hours later,

Ruby was was again crushed, this time by her sister. Penny had to leave but promise to visit her again.

"You really had worried, Ruby," Jaune said, smiling.

"I'll say! Yang didn't even make a single bad pun!" Nora said.

"We're just happy you're alive," Blake said, making the others nod.

Weiss sighs. She walks up and hits Ruby on the head.

"OW! Weiss what was that for?!" Ruby asked, holding her head.

"That was scaring the Oum out of us!" She said before hugging her.

"This is for coming back." She said, softly.

Soon all of Ruby's friends join in the hug. Ruby return it the best she could, making sure not to scratch any with her new nails.

"We need to do something about though nails," Weiss said, seeing how long they were.

"Um, it doesn't matter. I try clipping them myself, and they grow back." Ruby said, looking at the nails she left on the table.

"Wow! How many times did you clip them?" Yang asked.

"I lost count around 30," Ruby said.

"Then why are they there?!" Weiss shouted.

Ruby's extra ears flatten down as Weiss's voice sounded much louder than normal.

"Weiss, you might want to lower your voice. Ruby has extra ears now." Blake said, remembering what Ozpin told her.

Weiss still groans as Yang hugs her sister again.

Meanwhile,

Ironwood looks over a case that was holding Ruby's infected blood. To think she survive the Death Soul with the help of Grimm DNA.

"Sir, please tell me you're not going to use the girl as a weapon," Winter said.

"No, Winter. Qrow made it quite clear he'll hunt me down if I do something like that to both his nieces. I'm not heartless." He said.

"Then what do you plan on doing?" She asked.

"We now know the weakness to the Death Soul Parasite. I'm sending this to a Research Facility to be studied then dispose of," He said.

"I'm not sure about that, General Ironwood. We hardly know anything about the Death Soul Parasite..." Winter started.

"I'm aware of your worries, Miss Schnee. I promise you that only one of the Research Facilities will look into this. Our most guarded facility." Jame said.

Winter didn't like it, but she stood tall.

"Understood." She said.

Ironwood nodded and faced away from Winter. However, Winter still didn't like it. Her sister's friend almost die from it, and Winter didn't want that thing near anyone. But she could see the look in Ironwood's eyes. It was the look he would get whenever he came up with a new idea for a weapon to help protect Altas. She only hopes it doesn't backfire.

And run out of ideas for this chapter. Ruby has recovered and is now part Grimm. She has to learn about her features, and it appears Ironwood has plans for Ruby's Blood, however, Winter doesn't like the idea of the Death Soul Parasite being studied, but she has to follow orders. I guess I should clear this up, this story takes place between Volume 2 and 3, but it's also a different version of RWBY. So next, Ruby learns about her new Grimm powers before she's sent to the same facility to deal with dangers she could never dream of. And don't ask me how the Grimm DNA didn't attack Ruby's soul. I sometimes come up with ideas off the bat without thinking of a reason until much later.
