Perseus smiled brilliantly and asked, "Can I kiss you?"
Annabeth rolled her eyes and stepped closer to him. "Of course, seaweed brain," She answered him. Both of their faces sporting tiny blushes.
Perseus leaned down and pressed his lips against Annabeth's. Both of them stayed like that, content with letting their lips remain like that forever. They didn't want the moment to end.
Annabeth broke the kiss and looked at Perseus red faced. She stood on her toes and planted a kiss at his cheek and ran inside her cabin. Knowing full well that her siblings had seen her, and were going to interrogate her now.
Perseus stood goofily for a minute longer. He turned and noticed that the moon was glowing harsher and it had turned a little red. He knew that he was being spied on but ignored it and flashed back to his palace.
Artemis who had been watching their entire date, from their walk on Olympus to now, cried on her chariot. She knew he was supposed to have 5 other soulmates but it hurt too much to know that, that once could've been them.
Third Person Pov
It had been twenty days since Annabeth and Perseus started dating. It was the gossip of the millennia.
The lost elder god returned, and with war looming over their shoulder, he started dating a demigoddess daughter of Athena. It would be right to say that it was the biggest thing that had happened since the fall of Rome.
The entire Olympian council was surprised when they heard about the unusual dating situation of a God and a demigoddess, none more so than Athena. But they were all happy for him, especially his siblings.
Meanwhile, Artemis had started feeling worse day by day. Is this what Perseus had felt when he saw her with Orion? Was what she asked herself all the time. Her heart felt like it was filled with lead, every time she saw them strolling through the woods together. It hurt her more than anything.
Perseus had taken Annabeth on a date in the mortal world, once every three days. To show her the world, to show her the architecture she so desperately wanted to see one day, it had been adventures upon adventures. And they were just getting started.
Line-Break
It was July 12, Annabeth's birthday. Just like every year, she didn't think anything special was going to happen, considering that the camp didn't do much for birthdays. So, she started her day, like any usual day. With going to the Arena and deciding to spar with her siblings.
She was teaching the younglings sword fighting. "Swipe left," She commanded as she took a strike on them with a wooden sword, "Duck," her sword went over their head.
The training kept repeating until she felt the presence of an immortal being near her. A wide smile appeared on her face as she kept pressing the younglings. She knew it was Perseus. With his blessing, she could always feel whenever he was near.
"Look Annabeth, your boyfriend is here..." One of the daughters of Aphrodite gushed, it was all they did recently. Squealing about how cute they looked together. They kept trying out their couple names, trying out dozens of them. Until, they had heard Annabeth calling Perseus as Percy. Then they finally decided on naming their couple's name as 'Percabeth.'
It was cute to see Perseus blush every time the girls
Annabeth tried to look angry, but the blush on her face betrayed her.
When she sensed Perseus just behind her, she turned around and slashed her sword upward, the edge of the blade resting at the Lost God's neck. Their eyes met and she felt butterflies inside her stomach all over again, it happened every time she looked at him.
Smirking, Perseus removed the blade from his neck by his finger, as he winked at Annabeth, "Hello love, Happy Birthday to you."
He raised his left hand which was holding a small and elegant bouquet of flowers. White Cosmos, with a mix of blue cornflowers. It was simple yet beautiful. Nothing too fancy that Annabeth would hate, just some simple flowers that would make her feel appreciated.
"These are for you, Milady." He did a little bow for dramatic reasons.
Annabeth smiled widely as she took the bouquet for him. She took a smell and turned to her boyfriend, "This is so beautiful."
Perseus smiled himself as he saw her smile, something about that damn smile, and how those gray eyes shone, when she was happy sent him tumbling down the hills. "I should hope so, I stole the flowers from my little sister's garden, myself. She doesn't like it when people pluck flowers from her garden, I hope she is not mad."
Just then the sky thundered, and Perseus looked up at the sky smirking, "Oops, I guess she is mad." He shrugged, and didn't look all that worried.
Annabeth stood up on her tiptoes and pressed her lips against his. It still felt weird and excited to kiss him, like the first time all over again. Their lips remained touched together for a while, as they ignored the cooes of the Aphrodite girls.
"So, do you have time? I was thinking of taking you somewhere, and giving you a surprise that will surely get me something more than a kiss." Perseus wiggled his eyebrows suggestively at her, causing Annabeth to snort.
She rolled her eyes at him, and patted his cheek with her hand, "Sure, whatever you want seaweed brain." She said smirking at him, though her cheeks tinted pink, with what he was insinuating. "So, what have you planned for us today?" She asked.
Perseus smiled, "Something that is going to make you tear up and have you happy. Don't worry you will love it."
He extended his hand for her to take it, and Annabeth couldn't help but take a glance at his arm biting her lips. They were big, full of muscles, and could lift her up without any problem. She knew that they weren't dating for long, and she was still young, at the age of 16, but she couldn't keep the dirty thoughts out of her mind.
Her overthinking mind, that always made battle plans and ways to take down threats, they went completely haywire right now. Images of Perseus picking her up pinning her against the wall, his chest pressed up with hers. As she wraps her arms around his neck, and legs to his waist, as he makes love to her. As he dominates her.
It had her breath grow heavier, as her eyes glazed over on the daydream. She felt someone shaking her, she looked up to Perseus, who was looking at her worriedly, "Are you okay, Wise-girl?"
Still biting her lips, Annabeth shook the sinful thoughts out of her mind. "Nothing, let's just go please..." She hurried off, her face looking like a ripe tomato. She cursed herself for getting distracted on thoughts like that, in public.
Perseus still looked worried, but took her hand and told her to close eyes, and flashed them away.
Annabeth opened her eyes to see the most beautiful sight she had ever seen, an island so beautiful it's beauty could rival paradise. She looked over to find white beaches, with tropical fruit trees and green fields. The waves lapped up at the shore, and she could hear the sands rustling with water.
Though there was something different, she could feel great power radiating from this island, like something was keeping it alive and wild.
Annabeth ignored the weird feeling she got from the island for now, and turned to Perseus smiling. She thought they were here for a birthday picnic, "It's so beautiful Percy..." She stopped when she heard a loud roar, powerful enough that she could feel her ears stinging.
Annabeth looked at Perseus, her eyes narrowed, and her blonde curls falling on her face. He could feel his own domain reacting to her, as she unknowingly slowed time around her. She looked pissed, "We are not here for a birthday picnic, are we?"
Yep, she was pissed.
Perseus stayed silent, not willing to give an answer and piss her off more. He had been married before, but that was just for name. This was his first real relationship; he didn't know how to or what to do. But he knew, right now he should be silent.
Annabeth closed her eyes and he could feel Time run normally again. "What are we doing here, seaweed brain?" She asked calmly, the barest of smiles on her face, as she saw him squirming under gaze.
"Well, this wasn't the present Wise-girl, the present would come later. We are here for you to do a small quest, then you will receive your present." Perseus informed her as he stepped ahead on the island.
Annabeth followed him close behind, "Seriously? A quest for my birthday present?" She asked groaning, what kind of boyfriend sends his girlfriend for a quest? She would have to teach him the proper etiquettes of relationships. Then again, she didn't know anything on that matter.
"Trust me love, when you see your present, you will love it, and love me more for it." Perseus said as he kept walking forward.
Annabeth stayed silent after that, if he said that it was going to be lovely, then she was sure that whatever he had thought out to be would be unique. She walked up to him and threaded their fingers together, she looked up to him and he was smiling down at her. He leaned down and pressed a kiss at her forehead, causing her to smile back too.
Not long after, both the God and the Demigoddess reached near some sort of cave. They stepped forward to enter the cave only for them to stop as their eyes landed on a flock of sheep.
Annabeth let out an involuntary growl as she saw the sheep, which surprised her. She turned to Perseus who was looking at her with a wide smile, "It seems your first transition is kicking in." He said, which only confused her more.
She looked down when she felt something strange on her hands, she looked down to see her nails extending into claws. She hunched down to her knees and her back arched, she felt her canines enlarging. She closed her eyes and when she opened them, the world looked different.
Everything seemed more enhanced, her sight was better, her sense of smell and hearing, it was something she couldn't even have dreamed about. She looked towards Perseus, she could smell the darkness on him, the way shadows clung on to him, she could hear his heart inside his chest.
She felt more connected to him.
"That's my girl," Perseus said, smirking at her, "Now go get your prey." He motioned his head to her behind.
She turned around and saw the flock of sheep, she could smell blood on them, and everything went red. She ran towards their direction.
Line-Break
Annabeth opened her eyes to see that everything was back to normal, and she was laying in the middle of the woods, she looked and her hands were back to normal. Not weird looking paws.
She heard footsteps and turned her head to see Perseus walking up to her. Her head still ringed from the loud voice, she could tell that even in this form, her hearing and sense of smell had improved better than before.
"What the fuck just happened?" She shouted at him getting up.
"You just had your first transformation love..." Perseus walked up to her, and ran his thumb over her lips. She could see red on his thumb, and the taste of something strange on her lips.
"What does that mean? And is that blood?" She asked him, scared. Whatever had happened to her, it was something powerful. She could feel the power course through her like it hadn't before.
"Yes, it is blood." Perseus wiped his thumb on a tissue, "and for your second question. I am the God of Wolves Beth, and you have my full blessing. And that blessing includes the ability to shift yourself into a wolf. You just had your first transformation; you accessed your domain for the first time."
Annabeth had so many thoughts reeling inside her head. She couldn't even count them clearly, so she decided to ask the most important one. "Does that mean I'm a werewolf now?"
Whatever answer she had hoped for, it wasn't Perseus to snort.
He looked at her amusedly, "No love, you are not a mere werewolf. You're my champion, that already makes you a royalty. You're The Apex predator, Alpha of Alphas. You are stronger, faster and more vicious than a werewolf. You're the queen of wolves, they'll listen to you and bow to you."
"Wow, that's a lot of information and updates in a very short time." Annabeth sighed; this was not how she had hoped her birthday would go. Then again, compared to every year when she spent it cooped up in the camp, it was a better upgrade.
"Don't go relaxing now, the day's still going." Perseus said, and both of them started making their way towards the cave from before.
Inside the cave, Annabeth saw the biggest Cyclops she had ever seen, fear crept up her heart, as she remembered the night when she was on the run. She stepped back as her heart started beating faster. She felt Perseus tighten his hold on her hand, she looked at him to find him looking at her in question.
"I can't Percy, I can't." She whispered as tears flew from her eyes.
"Hey, hey, hey... Look at me love." Perseus cupped her face, "You don't have to be scared love, I don't know why it is scaring you like that. But remember, you defeated a fully-fledged immortal god on your own. A Cyclops can't hurt you, not anymore."
Annabeth took a deep breath, closed her eyes to get her mind in order. A moment later when she opened her eyes, there was a determination in them. Perseus knew that look all too well; it was the look of someone who was about to confront their deepest fear.
She withdrew the sword he had gifted her, the chaotic silver shined under the darkness of the cave. She turned to Perseus and gave him a big, deep kiss. "Wish me luck," She said, and ran towards the Cyclops.
"Hey ugly..." Annabeth shouted to get the Cyclops' attention.
The cyclops roared and looked at Annabeth's direction trying to find her location. Annabeth figured that he still couldn't see properly from when Odysseus had blinded him in the eye. She knew who the Cyclops was the moment she saw him. The island and the strange sense of morbidity, she knew it was Polyphemus.
Her Athenian mind had only one thing left to figure out, what purpose did defeating this cyclops had. The way Perseus pushed her; it wouldn't have been for something as trivial as just to conquer her fear. No, she knew battle strategy when she saw one, and Perseus was definitely planning something big.
Something to shift the tide of war.
"Who is here? Show yourself." Polyphemus roared, still having trouble trying to find her. He picked up a boulder and threw it in Annabeth's direction. It wailed past Annabeth's head and hit the cave wall behind her.
"Nobody," Annabeth shouted as she moved to the side. She looked back to see that Perseus was watching her from all the way behind, a big smirk on his face, as he gave her a thumbs up. Annabeth responded by flipping him off and turned back to the cyclops.
"I remember you, you hurt my eyes," Polyphemus shouted back, turning around to find the place from where she spoke, "I remember you."
"You're too stupid to remember anybody." Annabeth taunted, "Much less nobody."
Polyphemus threw another boulder at her, which Annabeth again dodged.
"You haven't learned to throw any better either," She kept shouting insults at him, and Perseus sat on top of a boulder, looking at the scenario chuckling.
Polyphemus howled, "Come here nobody, I'll kill you."
"You can't kill nobody, you stupid oaf." Annabeth laughed as she moved in the darkness, she watched as the shadows listened to her will. She used them to her advantage and moved behind the cyclops.
"Boo," She shouted from Polyphemus' behind.
Polyphemus turned only for Annabeth to draw her sword through his thighs, causing the Cyclops to scream in agony. His hands shot down to clutch the now injured legs, but Annabeth slashed at them too. If it had been any normal monster, it would've turned into dead now. However, this was the son of a god, an Olympian. He wasn't going to die as easily as the other monsters.
Using his pain to her advantage, she sliced more of him. Watching as blood poured out of him. When she felt that he was incapacitated, she stopped and head over to his head. She hovered over him and aimed her sword right at his eye.
Perseus could see that she was unknowingly slowing the time around her again, she was more powerful than he had thought. He saw as Annabeth's eyes held doubt to kill the Cyclops, he smiled, she was a kind person, it made him love her even more.
Annabeth was conflicted as she heard Polyphemus begging for mercy, she wasn't a cold-hearted killer, who could ignore someone pleading for life. But her eyes traveled around the room, and she saw the bones of satyrs scattered around.
Suddenly, a spark lit up in her mind. So, that's why they were here, the Golden Fleece. It all made sense now, Polyphemus had the fleece and he was using the nature magic of it to lure Satyrs into a trap, and then he was eating them. This was Perseus' plan, to get the fleece. For what, she hadn't known.
Her thoughts shifted to Grover, he was about to leave for his quest to find Pan, and if Perseus hadn't brought her here, Grover would've come here, and face the same fate as the others.
Whatever resolutions she had about killing the Cyclops vanished, as Annabeth pushed her sword through his eyes, watching as the Cyclops dissolved into golden dust.
She looked around for the Fleece and found it hanging on the walls of the cave, she took it off with ease and held it in one hand. The thing must be really heavy from its look, but Annabeth barely felt any weight with her now being stronger because of the wolf transition.
"Good job," Perseus commented as she made her way over to him.
Annabeth rolled her eyes, as she wiped the sweat off her forehead. She pushed the Fleece onto his hands, "Let's go." She was exhausted and just wanted to rest, and it was night already.
Perseus nodded and flashed them both to Half-blood Hill.
"What are we doing here?" Annabeth asked, "I need to take a shower."
"I still haven't given you your birthday gift love..." Perseus said, and snapped his finger and Annabeth was all cleaned up, her curls tied around, her camp shirt washed off.
Annabeth sighed, "Okay, what do you have for me?"
Perseus went ahead towards Thalia's tree, and draped the Fleece on it. The change was visible, the green meadow immediately glowed and the power of the protection barrier protecting the camp grew stronger.
The first son of Kronos and Rhea sat down on the grass and motioned for Annabeth to do the same. She walked up to him and sat between his legs, her back pressed against his chest, as she leaned her head back to rest on his shoulder. Sighing contently when she felt his arms wrap around her.
Now this could count as a good birthday for her.
"I'm sorry for being scared like that back then, Percy." She said, and before Perseus could even say anything, she continued. "It's just that I don't have good experience with Cyclops."
Perseus stayed silent as he heard her. He didn't know what to say, so Annabeth continued.
"When I was on the run from my family, Thalia and Luke took me in. It was the night Grover was escorting us to camp, he got confused and took some wrong turns, and we ended up in a Cyclops' lair in Brooklyn. The Cyclops was smart Percy, he managed to split us up, he tricked us by changing his voice. Thalia thought she was running to save Luke. Luke thought he had heard me scream for help."
Perseus' grip tightened on her as he heard about her screaming for help. It brought a smile on Annabeth's face, despite the tears flowing from her eyes. She looked up to see his eyes closed, his expression worried. She leaned up and planted a kiss at his jaw, and continued with the story.
"I was seven years old, alone in the dark and scared. I found the main room, and saw that Luke, Thalia, and Grover were all tied up and gagged, hanging from the ceiling upside down. I drew my knife slowly but he had heard me. He spoke in my father's voice, "Now Annabeth don't you worry, I love you. You can stay with me, you can stay forever." Those words were something that I had longed to hear from that voice, it almost got to me."
"What did you do?" Perseus asked, worry clearly dripping from his tone.
"I stabbed him in the foot." Annabeth chuckled. She felt herself shift and realized that Perseus was full blown laughing. His chest falling up and down, making her move with him.
"That's my girl." He planted a kiss on her head, "I knew you were always brave, what happened next?"
"We barely got out alive, I still have nightmares about that night. The way that Cyclops spoke in my father's voice. And it was his fault we were late to reach camp that day, it was his fault that Thalia had died. All the monsters chasing us that day, if it hadn't been for that Cyclops, Thalia would still be alive today."
Perseus nodded and rested his head on her chin. "Don't worry Wise-Girl, it would all be better soon." He said and glanced at the pine tree with the Golden Fleece draped on it.
"I hope so..." Annabeth said, as she closed her eyes and enjoyed the company she was with. Slowly she fell asleep against him, feeling safe and protected in his arms.
Line-Break
Annabeth woke up the sun rays hitting directly at her eyes. She shifted and woke up and rubbed her eyes. She saw that she was on the half blood hill, still resting against Perseus.
She looked up at him smiling, but his eyes were trained ahead. She looked at his line of direction and saw that a girl about her age was sleeping beneath Thalia's pine. She stood up and made her way towards her, to see if she needed any help.
Her breath caught in her throat when she neared the girl. She could see her clearly now; the girl was on a black t-shirt and black jeans. Short chopped up raven hair hiding her eyes, but Annabeth identified her perfectly. She was a little older than Annabeth remembered, but it was still her.
Annabeth couldn't move, she watched as her eyes flew open. This person was Thalia, the daughter of Zeus.
Thalia's eyes opened and she looked at the world through her eyes for the first time in almost a decade. There was a girl who looked about 16 in front of her, tears flowing from her eyes.
The huge thunder and flash of lightning made Thalia flinch, she looked up at the sky scared, worried of the thunderstorm.
"Never be scared of thunder or lightning Thalia, that's your father welcoming you..." A guy about the age of 16-17 walked in front of her. He was really tall, and the most handsome thing she had ever seen. Just looking at him made her face heat up, despite the confusion of what she was doing here.
The guy dropped to his knees in front of her, and extended his hand in front of her. She grasped it and stood up, his massive height towering over her. She looked up at his eyes, pure gold, she had never seen eyes like that before.
"W-who ar-are you?" She asked, sputtering. It was the first sentence she had spoken in many years, and the handsome guy looking down at her made her words stumble.
"Perseus, the God of Time, Fate and Destruction." Perseus introduced himself as he looked her in the eyes.
The most beautiful pair of electric blue eyes came into his view, it sent a shock of electricity down his spine, like he was electrocuted by one of his brother's bolts. Eyes as clear as sky stared back at him, and Perseus found himself searing through the height of them.
Perseus knew instantly. Those eyes were going to hold him captive forever.
