"Oh."

Lavender's eyes followed Cho's gaze. A white sheet hung over the dresser in her bedroom, covering the mirror. Cho's mouth was wide open. Not questioning—the why was clear enough.

"It's nothing," Lavender said dismissively. But her hand had already gone to her cheek, her fingertips grazing the raised scars that crept over her. Then, faltering under Cho's sympathetic eyes, she added, "Sometimes it's easier not to look."

Cho took a hesitant step into the bedroom, continuing to take in her surroundings. The room was more plain than she'd expected—all swathes of white and grey. In short, it was nothing at all what she'd expected. Not for Lavender. Lavender was shades of rose and hints of orchid. This...this was not that.

"The minimalist aesthetic is in," Lavender offered by way of explanation, sensing Cho's surprise. She gestured at the bare walls and empty shelves. "I guess people are looking for a simpler life after the war."

Cho hummed. "I can understand that."

And then, tired of all the chatter, Lavender strode across the room towards Cho, her hands easily finding their home on her waist. With a smile, Lavender pulled Cho closer to her and pressed their lips together. And while it was enough to distract Cho for a moment, it only took a single breath apart for the stark walls to start closing in on her again.

"If I'm going to be coming around more often—"

"And I hope you will be."

"—I might add one or two bits," Cho finished. "A fuzzy rug, maybe. A scented candle. Something with a touch of colour."

Colour would come first. The mirror, still at the forefront of Cho's mind, would come second. Slowly but surely, Cho would bring life back to the girl in front of her. And it would all start in this room.

"You can add whatever you like."
