I do not own Harry Potter, only the OC

Hello guys, Badger here. I am glad that people enjoyed the previous chapter. There have been questions about story and character ideas, like a werewolf character joining the group. While I do like the idea, I can't guarantee it will happen. I struggle trying to balance the characters in the friend group as it is, which is probably why JK Rowling stuck to a Trio. Maybe I might do a side plot where Harry or James become a Werewolf or Vampire, which might make for an interesting diversion away from canon, or I might do an entire fanfic based around the idea [after this one of course].

This chapter has jumped forward a bit, as I didn't want to have another 1 or 2 chapters of filler. I have done some of those already and I'm sure you have had enough of them for the time being. This chapter is quite short. I don't know if it is the shortest, but it is definitely shorter then most. It was easier to write this one, though it did take a minutes thought to decide where it shall end, so I hope you enjoy what I've written.

Chapter 18

Warning from the Heir of Slytherin

"So, what is going on between you and Luna Lovegood?" Daphne asked

She was walking alongside James and Susan, as they made their way down one of the corridors leading to a small courtyard. They had just finished studying and wanted to relax before their free period ended.

"Nothing is going on" James sighed "Why?"

"Well, it hasn't escaped our notice, you and her have spent some time together the last couple of weeks" Susan replied "we have seen you talking to one another, as you walk down the corridors"

"Well, sorry to disappoint, nothing is going on" James said "There is something about her…yeah she may be different and has beliefs in weird creatures I have never heard of, but she understands me and, in a way, I understand her"

"Well, she seems like a nice girl" Daphne said "I don't mind if she hangs around with us"

"Agreed" Susan nodded

James smiled, but as they entered the courtyard, they saw both the Slytherin and Gryffindor Quidditch teams stand opposite each other. Harry was there, looking bored and, interestingly enough, Ron Weasley was there dressed in Gryffindor Quidditch Robes as well, who was glaring at Harry and Draco, who was dressed in Slytherin Quidditch Robes. Curious, they made their way over, as Oliver Wood was handed a note, which he read out loud.

"'I, Professor Severus Snape, give the Slytherin Team permission to practice on the Quidditch pitch, to determine the teams Seeker'"

"I thought Harry was the Seeker" Susan spoke up

"I am, but Malfoy thinks he can replace me" Harry shrugged

There were slight chuckles across the Slytherin Team, much to the blondes annoyance. Even Marcus Flint had a smirk on his face. Harry was a natural flyer and a gifted seeker. It was practically impossible for the ponce to replace him. Still, he had to at least give Malfoy a chance.

"Just you wait Potter" Malfoy said "I'll be the new Seeker for Slytherin…and that's not the only thing that will be new this year"

"Bloody hell!" Ron exclaimed, as he saw the brooms "Those are Nimbus 2001's…how did you get those?"

"A gift from Draco's father" Flint replied

Flint wasn't stupid. He knew that these were for a bribe to get into the team. He may have accepted the brooms, as they were gifts, Malfoy still had to try out. Interestingly enough, Harry didn't get a new broom, though it didn't look like that Harry cared.

"You see Weasley, unlike some, my father can afford the best" Malfoy smirked

"For the whole team as well?" Susan asked "It is just like you Malfoy, buying your way into the team…everyone else got in through pure talent"

"Okay, enough" Flint said, though he was enjoying the way Malfoy's face was turning red "Let's go"

"Catch up later guys?" Harry asked

"Sure thing" James replied "We'll see you at lunch"

Harry smiled as he nodded, before he followed after the rest of the team.

The next two hours were filled with nothing but Harry thrashing Malfoy on the pitch. He caught Snitch after Snitch, making Malfoy more angry despite having the superior broom. Half an hour before try outs ended, where Malfoy fell for a Wronski Feint, causing him to crash to the ground, breaking his collar bone. James and Daphne shared a laugh, when Harry told them at lunch. It didn't take long for the whole school to know about Malfoy's unsuccessful attempts to take Harry's place as Seeker.

Harry seemed a little uneasy as he sat in the library, with James and Daphne. It was Halloween and, remembering what happened the previous year, he was worried that something else was going to happen. They decided to leave the feast early, so they could study and practice spells. After a few more lessons with Lockhart, they had long since found out that the man was a complete idiot, who didn't seem to teach them anything. So they decided to study their own material. They were sometimes joined by Susan, Neville and Tracey, but not all the time. Whilst the feast was going on, there was also another party going on. Apparently, this was the 500th anniversary of Nearly Headless Nick's death, and was hosting what was called a Deathday party. Something about that sent a chill down Harry's spine. He wasn't in any rush to celebrate anything involving his death any time soon, and never will.

"Hey guys" Astoria said, as she popped out from nowhere

"Oh, hey sis" Daphne replied "What brings you here?"

"You lot actually" She answered

"Well, what do we owe the pleasure?" James asked, putting down his book, as he brought his legs up onto the table

"It's Lockhart" Astoria sighed "To begin with, I thought he was this amazing wizard that he said he was in his book…but now I am not so sure, he doesn't teach us anything useful and sometimes his spells don't even work properly"

"Well…at least you realised much sooner then the others" Harry shrugged "The rest of the female students get all googly eyed, when they see him…it's kind of disgusting"

James snorted, whilst Daphne and Astoria smiled slightly. The process may have been slow, but James and Daphne were happy to see that Harry was coming out of his shell more, slowly becoming his own person.

"We should probably get going" James said, picking up his books "Dinner will be over shortly and curfew will start"

Everyone nodded, as Harry and Daphne packed up their stuff, before they left the library, heading back to the Slytherin Common Room, with Astoria following next to Daphne.

"So, Astoria" James smiled "Got any secrets about Daphne…Harry has known her for a year, I have known her for longer, but there is bound to be something she isn't telling us"

"That's rich, coming from you" Daphne scoffed "You rarely say much about yourself"

"Ah, but there is a fine difference between personal life and good old gossip" James replied, with a large grin "So, Astoria, know anything good?"

"Well there is something she doesn't like telling people" Astoria said

"Don't you dare!" Daphne warned, looking at her sister with a death glare

"Okay, okay" Astoria said quickly, raising her hands in a surrendering manner "My lips are sealed"

"Oh, Daphne why did you have to do that?" James asked "Now I really want to know"

Harry laughed softly at what was going on, when he heard a voice.

"Kill…time to kill…let me tear you…let me rip you…kill….kill"

The voice caused Harry to stop, something that caught the notice of the others.

"Harry, what is it?" James asked

"The voice" Harry replied "I heard it again"

"What voice?" Daphne asked

"Explain later" James said "What did it say?"

"Kill" Harry replied, feeling a little shaky "I don't know what it is, but it is going to kill….something"

"Guys" Astoria spoke up "Look at this"

The Trio turned to see a small trail of spiders walking along the stone floors, in a single file line and out of a small crack in a nearby window. The sight of the spiders made Astoria squirm a little bit.

"That's strange" Daphne said "I haven't seen spiders act like this before"

"That's not all" Harry replied, pointing out the wall opposite them

On the stone walls was a message, written in large red letters: THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS HAS BEEN OPENED. ENEMIES OF THE HEIR BEWARE.

"Is that, blood?" Astoria asked

"I don't know" James replied "But we have a small problem"

Next to the written letters was something hanging from a light fixture. It was a cat. A rather familiar cat too.

"It's Mrs Norris" James said, as he got up closer and gently poked her "Merlin…she isn't dead, but…she is rock solid!"

"What kind of spell or curse could have done this?" Daphne asked

"I don't know" James replied "I have read many spell books, but I have never read one that has this kind of effect"

It was then, when the rest of the students began to appear, each one seeing the sight before them and looking at the small group in fear and shock. Harry looked around and knew that this wasn't going to go smoothly.

There we are guys, new chapter done and I hope you enjoyed.

Again, I hope you don't mind the small jump in the timeline. Instead of having filler chapters, I thought having James being questioned about him and Luna would be easier, but don't worry, there will be more moments between the two in the future. In fact, the beginning where James is being questioned about Luna, is actually based from real life events. Whilst in school, there was this new girl, who I easily got on with. My friends then started questioning if anything was going on between me and her, because of how much time we were spending together. And, before you ask, no we did not end up together.

What did you guys think about the moment with the Slytherin Quidditch Team? I always had a feeling that giving the team brooms was a way for Malfoy to bribe his way into the team. Of course he wasn't going to get in either. Don't worry this won't effect the story with the rogue bludger, it will play out the same way, though slightly similar. And how does Harry know Wronski Feint? He is a Seeker and has been practicing? I don't know, just go with it ok.

And, of course, we have had the warning from the Heir of Slytherin and the first victim. This leaves me with a question for you. Should Harry and the others find out about Aragog, or have it play out differently? I don't mind doing the second option, though I admit, I am struggling with alternatives. Now, though, things don't seem good. Now that there is a threat, what is going to happen? What will Dumbledore do? What will the Trio do? What will LOCKHART do? Will the Ministry get involved? Will Dumbledore try to keep everything hidden under the carpet? Maybe, you'll just have to see.

I hope you enjoyed the chapter and I'll see you in the next one.

Pairing Poll Results, so far:

James/Pansy: 3 James/Harry: 9 Harry/Susan: 9 James/Daphne: 8 James/Tonks: 3 Harry/Fleur: 5 Harry/Tonks: 4 James/Luna: 8 James/Astoria: 2 Harry/Daphne: 7 Harry/Astoria: 1 Harry/Ginny: 1

As you can see, it is quite neck and neck at the moment, between a few options. I imagine it will be similar for however long this poll remains up for. Though it seems James/Luna has become more popular, probably because of the small moment between the two, in the previous chapter. That is all for now.

Badger out.
