I do not own Harry Potter, only the OC

Hello guys, Badger here. How are you today? I hope you are well. If you haven't read the previous two chapters, then do so before reading this one, it will make more sense. Speaking of which, I think the previous chapter was well recieved, but I'm not sure. Please do tell me what you thought, if you want to leave a review please do. Considering I have waited months for the previous two chapters to be published, I hope they did well, as it does give James' backstory. Again, sorry to Harry/James shippers. There were a few ideas given, in terms of who James was and what the photo was, but none were right.

Anyway, enough of that. I know there have been a number of newcomers to this story as the chapters have gone on so, hey how you doing? Though, if you have been around since the very beginning, let me know, I like to keep in talk with those reading this story, even if it is mainly one sided. Now, this chapter is another shorter one. After the previous chapter was published, I decided to take a few days break, to focus a bit more on my College work and to just relax a little, as I found myself burning out writing the chapters. This shouldn't effect my publishing schedule, but it is something to be mindful of. I will take another days break before writing the next chapter, so for now read on and I hope you enjoy.

Chapter 33

A gift from the Twins

Things had been a little different since James' boggart was revealed. A few of the Third Years gave him looks, trying to figure everything out, whereas others, namely Malfoy and Nott took pleasure in making fun of him for being 'afraid of a little girl'. Even Hermione tried making fun of him for having such a ridiculous fear, only to stop and run off, when James fired back commenting on how her 'worst fear of all time' was receiving a fail was equally ridiculous, though his words were more vicious. Despite that though, he and Harry had grown noticeably closer, when James revealed that the two were godbrothers. Currently, the two were walking down a corridor, when Fred and George appeared.

"Alright you two" They said in unison "how are you today?"

"We're are fine" Harry replied "Though, how do you find us so easily?"

"That, is what we are here to talk about" Fred said, looking to James apologetically "Neville told us what happened…about your sister…we want to offer our apologies"

"After what happened with Ginny in the Chamber…we can't even begin to comprehend the idea of losing her" George continued "And we can't begin to understand how you must be feeling"

"Thank you" James smiled "I wouldn't want you to go through what I did…it's a personal battle I have to live with"

"We can only imagine" Fred sighed "But you are our friend…both of you are…"

"And as our friends, we want to give you something we believe you should have" George continued

"What is that?" Harry asked

The Twins looked around, to make sure no one else was around, before Fred pulled out something from his robe pocket. It was nothing but folded, blank parchment, though the two looked immensely proud as Fred held it up, showing it to them.

"What's that rubbish?" Harry asked, making the Twins gasp overdramatically

"Rubbish?" Fred asked "No, no, no Harry, this is anything but rubbish"

"This, is the answer to all our secrets" George continued "Fred, show them"

Fred smiled, as he unfolded the parchment. He then took out his wand and cleared his throat, pressing his wand against the paper.

"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good" He said

James and Harry watched in awe and surprise, as thick black lines spread across the parchment, forming different shapes and words.

"Take a look" Fred smiled, as he handed them the parchment

James and Harry both held the parchment, taking a look at the contents. It seemed to be a map, but what shocked them was the names of students and teachers walking along, what they guessed to be the schools corridors and classrooms.

"Is this Hogwarts?" Harry asked

"Yes" George nodded

"It shows everyone" Fred added

"Where they are, what they're doing, every minute, of everyday" They finished in unison

"Hang on, that's Dumbledore!" Harry spoke up, seeing his name moving in circles

"Yep, pacing I bet" Fred replied "He has done that a lot the past few years, we have found"

"Guys, this is brilliant!" James exclaimed "Where did you get it?"

"Nicked it from Filch's office in our first year" Fred smiled "Shows all kinds of secret passages"

"Indeed" George nodded "Gentleman, may we present to you, The Marauders Map, created by Messrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs, we owe them a lot"

"Why exactly are you giving this to us?" Harry asked

"Because you are our friends" George replied "Besides, we believe you deserve it"

"Think of it as passing the torch" Fred smiled, pressing his wand to the map "Oh, and when you are done, remember to tap your wand and say 'mischief manage' otherwise anyone can read it"

Just like when the lines appeared on the map, the lines and names faded away, leaving a blank piece of parchment once more.

A couple of weeks had passed, and things were slowly dying down with James' boggart. Now though, it was the first Quidditch Match, Slytherin vs Ravenclaw. After the Twins continued to urge James to try out for the Slytherin Team, James eventually caved and did so and was now the new Chaser for Slytherin and definitely lived to the Twins comments on James having 'a mean throwing arm'. The weather, however, was less then ideal, with rain and thunder, with the odd lightning strike. The weather made it difficult to find the Snitch, but Harry did in time and now he, and the Ravenclaw Seeker Cho Chang were neck and neck as they chased after it. The Snitch proceeded to fly up into the dark clouds, where the lightning was coming from. Harry proceeded to follow after it, not noticing Cho had stopped, unsure if she wanted to follow after it. Harry continued after the Snitch, until it disappeared in the thick mist. He stopped and pulled up, hovering in the air to look around. That was when something caught his eye. A dark cloud, in the shape of a Grim facing him. A cold feeling passed through him, where he noticed his googles frosting up. He looked around to see Dementors surrounding him, before one approached him. The ghostly humming sound filled the air, as the same feeling he felt on the train passed through him, causing him to fall off of his broom. He knew he was falling, but felt too weak to do anything. Screams echoed across the sky, as his vision began to darken. He felt someone catch him, before everything went dark.

"Is he going to be okay?"

"I don't know, he looks a little sickly"

"Sickly? How do you expect him to look…he must of fell at least one hundred feet!"

Harry's eyes slowly opened to see Daphne, Neville, the Twins, Luna, Susan and Flint looking down at him, smiles of relief on each of their faces, when they saw him waking up.

"Harry, you're okay" Susan let out a small sigh "Thank Merlin"

"You gave everyone quite a scare Harry" Flint spoke, patting his shoulder gently "You feeling alright?"

"I think so" Harry replied, voice a little hoarse "What happened?"

"Professor Lupin and a few others drove away the Dementors after they attacked you" Daphne said "After that, you were brought to the Medical Wing"

"We also found your broom" Luna added, holding up his Nimbus "It was a little damaged, but should be easy to fix"

Harry nodded, happy that it was still in working order…it was a gift after all. It was then he remembered the feeling of someone catching him before he passed out.

"Who was it who caught me?" Harry asked

"That would be me"

Harry turned to see James sitting on the other bed. His Quidditch Gear was a little worn and battered, with one of his arms wrapped in a sling.

"James, are you okay?" Harry asked, indicating the sling

"I'm fine Harry" James smiled, rolling his eyes slightly "I tried to catch you safely, but you were falling at high speed, I ended up falling with you…thankfully we weren't that high up, but I did break my collar bone…Madam Pomfrey has already given the potion to heal the damage"

"The Minister also wished to give his apologies" the Twins spoke up

"After he heard what happened, he had the number of Dementors reduced" Neville added "He then reposted them to the surrounding fields and villages, with a few Aurors to overwatch them, in hopes of stopping a repeat occurrence"

Harry leant back in his bed. That was a small miracle at least. He didn't want to come across them again. It was then the doors opened, where Professor Lupin came in. The Professor wasted no time in heading towards Harry's bed, relief on his face.

"Harry, I'm glad you are okay" He smiled

"Thank you Professor" Harry replied "Can I help you, sir?"

"No, but I can help you" Lupin replied "On Saturday, after lunch, I want you and James to come to my office…there is something I want to teach you…I will explain everything then"

Before anything else could be said, he turned and left, just as quickly as he came, closing the door behind him.

"What was that about?" Susan asked

"No idea" James replied "Though, we should get going soon, it's getting late…it's a full moon tonight"

And there we go. Chapter 33. It's only after saying it out loud, I realise how many chapters there are. Are you guys starting to get sick of it? I hope not.

Anyway, this chapter was mainly filler, to set up a few future subplots, I hope you don't mind. First off, the Marauders Map has made its official appearance. I know it doesn't make an appearance until Harry sneaks to Hogsmeade, but I decided to introduce it a lot earlier in this story. Mainly because Harry won't need to sneak into Hogsmeade. The scene with the Twins giving Harry the Map is one of my favourite scenes, as they are giving Harry is fathers legacy, without even knowing it. Though I do find it odd he never told the Twins that Sirius and Lupin were two of the Marauders. Anyway, the map will come into play more, in future chapters. Also, what did you think about the slight dig at Hermione, regarding her worst fear. Now, I fear a failing grade as much as the next person, but for it to be your worst fear imaginable just seems ridiculous to me. Maybe I'm just not smart enough.

Then, we have the Quidditch Match. I know this happens a bit later in Canon as well, but it was between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff in Canon, I'm sure there was a match beforehand. Anyway, this is also to build up the subplot with Lupins private lessons, which I'm sure you know what they are. I did plan to have a small section in previous chapters to have James try out for the Slytherin Team, but I couldn't find a suitable place to squeeze it in. Chaser made the most sense to me, because I have been known to have a 'mean throwing arm' in real life. Is that the right phrase, I don't know. Anyway, I will say this, it may be possible the Prisoner of Azkaban era will have the fewest amount of chapters compared to the other eras. I'm not sure just yet, depends on how long it takes for the subplots to finish.

Last thing, before I go. You may have noticed the poll regarding Dobby and Jinx was closed. A new poll will be up soon, concerning what kind of stories you would like to see next, when this story is done, so look out for that. That is all for now. I hope you enjoyed and I will see you in the next one.

Badger out.
