Chapter 5

Beginning of a New School Year

The next morning, Twilight and Applejack made their way to the Great Hall to eat breakfast. They walked over to the Gryffindor table, where they met up with the rest of their friends.

"Twilight! Applejack! There you are!" Rarity was surprised to see her friends. "Where have you two been? I haven't seen you on the train."

"Sorry, Rarity. Applejack and I couldn't get through the wall on Platform 9 3/4 and we ended up missing the train." Twilight explained.

"And we had to use my father's chariot just to get to Canterlot. Hopefully we didn't miss anything important when we were gone." Applejack hoped.

"Oh, don't worry. You didn't miss much." Fluttershy assured. "The only thing you missed is the announcement that Cranky's wife, Matilda is going to be staying at Canterlot this school year. Also, Rainbow Dash just got into Gryffindor."

"Eh, it was no biggie!" Rainbow bragged. "The sorting was super easy!"

Twilight giggled as she was happy to be spending time with her friends again. Now that they were together, Twilight had a good feeling that she would have a normal school year for once. She was soon proven wrong when she suddenly got blinded by a flash of light.

After regaining her eyesight, Twilight looked down to see a small pegasus with a camera.

"Oh my gosh! Twilight Sparkle, I can't believe I'm meeting you at last!"

After everything that had happened to her lately, dealing with another fan was the last thing she wanted.

"My name is Featherweight!" the pegasus continued. "I am new to Gryffindor and it is so nice to meet you."

"Um, it's nice to meet you too, Featherweight." Twilight replied before Featherweight sat down to eat.

Everyone continued to eat when a bunch of owls flew into the Great Hall to deliver the mail. Applejack took her letter from her owl and gazed at the letter before her eyes widened in horror.

"Oh no!"

Twilight turned to Applejack, concerned. "What's wrong, Applejack?"

"It's a letter from my mom. She must have found out that we took the chariot. I don't feel comfortable opening it!" Applejack shuddered.

"Oh, don't worry, Applejack! I don't think the letter would be that bad." Fluttershy assured.

After taking a deep breath, Applejack slowly opened the envelope. The next thing Applejack knew, the envelope came to life and started yelling at her in Pear Butter's voice.

"Applejack! How dare you take the chariot without permission!" the envelope screamed, gaining the attention of everyone in the Great Hall. "Your father is dealing with a lot of trouble at work and it's all your fault! There had better not be a scratch on that chariot, or we will send you straight home!" The envelope then turned to Rainbow Dash and spoke in a calm voice. "Oh, and Rainbow Dash, congratulations on making it into Gryffindor! Your father and I are so proud!"

It was at that moment when Rainbow Dash started to blush before she hid her face on the table in embarrassment. With the envelope's message finished, the envelope ripped itself to shreds, leaving everyone in awkward silence.

After Twilight and her friends finished breakfast, they made their way to their Herbology class, hoping to forget about the embarrassing incident with the envelope. Once they reached class, they were introduced to their Herbology teacher, a pink earth pony with a flower crown on her raspberry colored mane named, Professor Gloriosa Daisy. Once class began, Gloriosa introduced herself to the class.

"Good morning, everypony! My name is Professor Gloriosa Daisy. Nature is a beautiful thing and today we shall learn about Everfree plants. Their essence can heal any kind of petrification, but they can also let out ear piercing screams, so we should all put on earmuffs before continuing with the lesson."

With that, everyone took a pair of earmuffs before putting them on their ears. Once she was sure that everyone had their earmuffs on, Gloriosa took one of the Everfree plants and pulled it out of its pot. This caused the plant to let out an ear piercing scream that caused everyone to cover their ears. Even with their earmuffs on, the scream was still painful to listen to. It was too much for Fluttershy to handle, so she lost consciousness and fell to the floor.

"Uh, Professor Gloriosa? I think Fluttershy just fainted." One of the students announced.

"Oh dear! Fluttershy must have had a defective pair of earmuffs." Gloriosa guessed. "Don't worry, everypony! I've got this! I'll bring Fluttershy to the hospital while the rest of you pull the Everfree plants from the pots I've provided you."

Once Gloriosa said that, the students' eyes widened in horror. It was bad enough that they had to hear one Everyfree plant scream. They could only imagine how horrible it would be to hear multiple plants scream at once.

After surviving Herbology, Twilight and her friends hurried over to their Defense Against the Dark Arts class. Once everyone sat down, Blueblood stood in front of the class with an egotistical smile.

"Now, I know what you are thinking, everypony. You think it is an honor that you would be taught by the great Blueblood, and you are absolutely right!"

Both, Twilight and Applejack shared annoyed looks with each other as they started to wonder how Blueblood got this job in the first place.

"Today, you shall all know how I bravely captured some of the most dangerous creatures ever." Blueblood took out a cage that was shaking, thanks to the creatures inside. It had a sheet that was covering whatever was inside. "I must ask you not to scream, for it might provoke them!"

With that, Blueblood removed the sheet from the cage to reveal what was inside. The class took one look at the creatures before bursting into laughter.

"Parasprites?" One of the students laughed.

"Freshly caught parasprites! Don't be deceived by their cuteness! They might look sweet and innocent, but parasprites are mischievous creatures. Not to worry! As long as they are in this cage they are not going anywhere." As Blueblood said that, he accidentally knocked the cage over, unintentionally freeing the parasprites. "Oops!"

With the parasprites free, they flew around the room, causing as much trouble as possible. Not wanting to stay any longer, all of the students ran out of the classroom expect for Twilight, Applejack, Rarity, and Fluttershy. Before Fluttershy was able to escape, the parasprites grabbed her by her school robes and started to hang her from a chandelier.

"Somepony, please get me down from here!" Fluttershy yelled, struggling to get down.

Meanwhile at the top of the stairs, Blueblood noticed that one of the parasprites was flying away with a portrait of himself so he grabbed on to the portrait, desperate to get it back.

"No! Let go of my portrait of myself! It's one of a kind!"

It was too late since the parasprite yanked the portrait out of Blueblood's hooves and flew away. Blueblood looked down the stairs to see all of the chaos the parasprites were causing to the classroom. Twilight, Applejack, and Rarity were the only ones who were standing in the middle of the class.

"Um, you three seem to have everything under control! If you need me I'll be in my office."

Desperate to get away from the parasprites, Blueblood ran away to cower in his office. In the midst of the chaos, one of the parasprites flew in Rarity's mane, causing her to freak out.

"It's in my mane! It's in my mane!"

"Wait, hold still!" Twilight ordered before she grabbed a book and used it to knock the parasprite away.

Once the parasprite was gone, Rarity gave a relieved sigh. "Thank you, Twilight."

"I don't think we would be able to handle those parasprites! There are too many of them." Applejack explained.

It was at that moment when Rarity remembered a spell she can use on the parasprites. She took out her wand and chanted, "Immobulus!"

The moment Rarity casted the spell, the parasprites stopped moving, as if they were frozen in time. With the parasprites tamed, Twilight, Applejack, and Rarity sighed in relief knowing that the chaos is over.

Fluttershy, who was still hanging from the chandelier gave up on trying to get free and lowered her head in defeat before she said, "Why does stuff like this always have to happen to me?"
