I do not own Harry Potter only the OC

Hello guys, Badger here. I hope you are well. I have some news, I have scrapped my gaming channel. Well, no really. As I am a poor boy, I can only use whatever I have at hand and whatever editing software I can acquire. I am going to have to do a lot of tests before hand. However, I do have another channel, where I post short videos that are under a minute, whether it be comedy skits, or just random vids. There isn't much their right now, but if you are interested look up Badger_Shorts on YouTube. Of course, you may find the videos cringe and send me death threats in the comments...oh well, I have fun making the videos, so that's all that counts right?

Anyway, I'm sure you're not interested in me rambling. So, here is the new chapter. I'm glad people enjoyed the previous one and I hope you enjoy this one just as much. That is all for now, I will see you, at the end.

Chapter 61

The art of dodging

The trio soon found themselves sat in their first Defence lesson. Needless to say, they weren't looking forward to it. In fact, neither did most of the class. They weren't waiting long until Umbridge entered the classroom, disintegrating a small paper butterfly, flying around the room, effectively killing the mood at the same time.

"That's better" She said "Good morning class"

There was a small murmur of response, which made Umbridge frown.

"No, no, that won't do now will it?" Umbridge asked, talking to the students as if they were nursery children "When I say 'good morning class' you say, 'good morning Miss Umbridge', so, good morning class"

"Good morning Miss Umbridge" The class responded in unison

"That's better" Umbridge smiled, which sent shivers down the spine of many

"Mother of Merlin, help me" James whispered

Umbridge walked round behind her desk and with a wave of her wand, a large stack of books appeared, each one floating to every student. Harry looked at the book and felt bile rise to his throat. The book looked like something you will find in a primary school, or even nursery, with a bright yellow colour and text that was a lime green.

"Now, you will not need your wands in this classroom" Umbridge said "Based on reports for the last years, I will be teaching you how to protect yourself in the nicest and safest way possible"

"So, what kind of spells will you be teaching us?" Ron asked

"If you want to speak you will put your hand up, Mr…"

"Weasley, Ron Weasley" Ron answered "And I was just asking what kind of defensive spells will you be teaching us?"

"Defensive spells?" Umbridge laughed "Dear boy, you will not be learning such things"

"We're not going to learn any magic?" Harry asked

"Why would you need to learn magic?" Umbridge asked in return "What reason could you need to learn magic?"

Harry went to respond, but stopped, when he felt James' hand grab his shoulder. He looked at his friend, who shook his head slightly. Happy that Harry had no response, Umbridge smiled and continued with her lesson.

"Why did you stop me?" Harry asked

"She wants to get a rise out of you" James replied "I'm not sure what she hopes to gain, but she will do, or say anything to get you into trouble, so just keep your head down…we still have those private lessons after all"

Harry nodded, reluctantly, and turned his attention back to Umbridge, who continued speaking.

"Yes, I know that You-Know-Who has indeed returned" She said "But you do not need to worry, the Ministry and its Aurors are more then capable of handling the threat…no matter what the Quibbler says, you lot are safe…not that anyone reads that trash anyway, the people who run it are nothing but crazies who have gotten into the Firewhiskey"

Harry felt the temperature drop slightly. He knew what Umbridge was trying to do. James and Luna weren't always so subtle about their relationship, no doubt Umbridge heard from someone. Umbridge may have been trying to provoke James into doing something, but to James, she had slandered his girlfriend and her father. His eyes were murderous and he was gripping the edge of the desk so tightly, his knuckles were turning white. Harry nudged James, with his knee, which seemed to snap him out of his thoughts and help him calm down, but only just. The sight made Umbridge smile, before she continued with the lesson.

"Now, today I want you to read through the first chapter of your book" Umbridge said "There will be a test on it next week…off you go then"

Harry turned the page and began reading. He knew that, despite James having his book open, his thoughts weren't on the words in front of him. If Harry didn't know any better, he'd say that James was plotting the woman's murder.

Umbridge smiled, as she watched the students leave at the end of the lesson. She was hoping that either Potter or Badger would end up saying something. But, despite her best efforts, neither were provoked. That was a shame, as Umbridge recently acquired some new Blood Quills and was dying to test them out. Still, watching them stew in anger was satisfying enough. Still, she needed a way to provoke them. As she thought, she rubbed her arm, which began to itch. She knew that the two were having private lessons. Nothing she could do about that. She would have to dig a little deeper, before she can plan her next move. For now, a nice cup of tea until the next load of brats. She has always hated children.

"So, how was Defence?" Sirius asked

It was time for their first private lesson and Sirius was leading Harry and James to an abandoned classroom, magically expanded and silenced to not be interrupted.

"The lesson is a joke" James replied "Umbridge seems to think that Voldemort and his Death Eaters won't attack innocent children, constantly telling us how we are all safe, talking to us in a way an adult would to a toddler"

"That bad, huh?" Sirius grimaced

"You should of read the book she gave us for this year" Harry spoke up "The first page read that, in an attack, we should report it to the Ministry and hide until the Aurors sort out the problem, 'bad' is an understatement"

Sirius winced as he lead the two into the classroom in question where, as soon as the door closed behind them, two stunning spells were fired their way. James was only just about to grab Harry and drop both of them to the ground, as the spells his the wall, before a laugh rang across the room.

"Well done Badger" A familiar, gruff voice said "well done indeed"

Harry and James looked up, to see Mad-Eye Mood standing in front of them, wand in hand a pleased smile on his face. Harry's eyes narrowed in suspicion, whilst James' wand flicked into his hand.

"You don't need to worry boys" Dumbledore spoke up, appearing from the shadows of the room "This is the real Alastor Moody"

"Forgive us sir, but considering last year we spent a good few months in near proximity to a Death Eater disguised as a Moody, we'd rather not take chances" James replied

"Constant Vigilance!" Moody laughed "I'm starting to like you Badger"

"Of course, what's not to love?" James asked, feigning a look of confusion

Harry rolled his eyes, nudging his friend in the ribs, before he looked to the men in front of him

"So, what are we learning today?" He asked

"Dodging" Sirius replied "It's all well and good using shields or summoning slabs of concrete, but sometimes it won't be enough and your only option is to dodge, and dodge effectively…James, after all, has a reminder for sloppy dodging"

James winced, as he subconsciously rubbed the scar on his cheek. He knew Sirius meant nothing by it, but James didn't like talking about it. In all honesty, he was a little self-conscious about it.

"For your lesson today, you will spend the next couple of hours dodging stunners, as a way to prepare yourself in future, should the time call for it" Sirius continued "should you get stunned, we'll revive you and we'll try again…we want to see how long you two can last…get ready"

"Something tells me we aren't going to like this" James whispered to Harry as they stood in the center of the room, as Dumbledore, Moody and Sirius pointed their wands at them.

Moody stood next to Dumbledore, as they watched Sirius leave the classroom, with Harry and James following behind, both boys feeling absolutely exhausted.

"I must say, they've impressed me today" Moody said

"Same with me, old friend" Dumbledore nodded "I know that Harry was received some training from both Sirius and James…James, I believe he just taught himself"

"Whatever they learnt, they are good" Moody replied "To start with they were only able to dodge for three minutes at least, but as they kept going they were able to last for over ten…hell, in the last session, they lasted about twenty minutes…still, despite being good they aren't perfect"

"Indeed, which is why I will make sure they are taught some spells next lesson" Dumbledore said "Only a few stunners and other non-lethal spells, I have seen both of them use dangerous and deadly spells, they need to learn that violence and death isn't always the answer"

Moody nodded, though he didn't say anything. He knew better then to argue with Dumbledore by this point. The old man was as stubborn as a mule.

"Do you really think Potter is the Chosen One?" Moody asked

"Ever since that Halloween night in 1981" Dumbledore said "Voldemort marked him as his equal…with enough training, I believe Harry will grow into a powerful wizard, strong enough to fight Voldemort"

'Before he has to sacrifice himself for the greater good of the wizarding world' He sighed, remorsefully

New chapter done!

I must say, I didn't expect to hate myself whilst writing Umbridge's character. I hate her so much and I found myself annoyed whilst writing her lines. She also pressed a few of James' buttons it seems. That could be bad. Unfortunately, there is no QUESTION OF THE CHAPTER this time. Sad I know. If there was a QUESTION OF THE CHAPTER, it will most likely be similar, if not the same as the one in the previous chapter. Don't worry though, I'll try to add one in for the next one.

We have also seen the first private lesson. These will have a few appearances in Order of the Phoenix, though I don't know how many. I will say though, the private lessons is a key role for a subplot during the Order of the Phoenix, though I'm not saying what. I will say though, I was supposed to introduce two other characters in this chapter: Bill Weasley and Nymphadora Tonks. They were going to appear in this chapter, but I forgot about them. Sorry. They'll feature in the next private lesson though, don't worry.

That is all for now, I hope you enjoyed and I will see you, next time.
