I do not own Harry Potter, only the OC

Hello guys, Badger here. Back again. Well, I haven't received any death threats, so that is a good sign, at least. Believe me guys, I never wanted to kill Sirius, but it had to be done for story reasons. I forgot to mention in the previous chapter, that there were two versions of his death, one was the Canon version, where Bellatrix kills him and the other was the AU version, where James' Uncle kills him. However, I chose to keep it canon, as I felt it wouldn't be right, having Harry wanting to kill Michael, as that is James' story arc for this story; wanting to avenge his parents by killing their murderer, even if the killer is his own uncle. Because of this, Bellatrix was the one to kill Sirius.

Also, I was reading through some old Fanfics I found, which I wrote a couple years ago and...yikes. They are...bad...but hey, if you would like to see some of the cringe I wrote let me know and I may post them on here, when this story is over, though no promises.

Anyway, that is all for now. What's done is done, time to read the new chapter. I hope you enjoy and I will see you at the end.

Chapter 74

The result of ones negligence

Time seemed to slow down, as Harry watched Sirius fade away into nothing. He didn't believe it. He couldn't be gone. He ISN'T gone! Harry took a few steps forward to follow after him, before he was grabbed and held back by Remus.

"Harry, no!" He said, voice cracking "He's gone…he's gone!"

"No, NO HE'S NOT GONE!" Harry yelled, tears beginning to pour down his cheeks

"It's the Veil of Death Harry" Remus said, tears falling down his own face, trying so hard to keep Harry restrained, from running into the Veil after him "Once someone enters, no one comes back out…he's gone"

That was it. Harry felt his world split in half, as something in him down. Unable to find the right words to say, Harry just let out a loud yell of anger, pain, sadness and anguish all at once, as Remus' words replayed themselves in his head. Looking up, through his strained vision, due to the tears, he saw Bellatrix smirking triumphantly at him. A black cloud covered Harry's heart as he saw her, his expression darkening and murderous. If one looked closely, the green of his eyes seemed to glow with cold fury, like that of a wild fire. As Bellatrix slipped through a doorway and running off, Harry pushed Remus off of him and went after her, leaving the rest alone, to finish the rest of the Death Eaters. Harry chased after Bellatrix into the Ministry Atrium, where she seemed to be frolicking, as she sang.

"I KILLED SIRIUS BLACK!" She laughed "Is little Potter coming to get me?"

"CRUCIO" Harry yelled

Bellatrix fell to the floor, screaming in pain, as she thrashed around on the floor. Harrys wand seemed to vibrate, blood running down his nose, as he listened to her screams. After a moment or two, he released the curse, freeing Bellatrix from the pain, though he kept his wand on her. The crazed woman looked at Harry in genuine fear, letting out a small whimper, as she paled slightly. The fear on Bellatrix's face shocked Harry. His wand arm shook ever so slightly, as the black cloud around his heart, slowly but surely, faded away. Worried, and a little scared, about what he had done, caused Harry to lower his wand slightly, as he panted heavily, beads of sweat and blood falling down his brow. It was that moment, his ears echoed with a whispering, raspy voice.

"You know the spell Harry…" It drawled "She killed him…your godfather…she deserves it, does she not?"

The fear on Bellatrix's voice disappeared and was replaced with glee, as she started to chuckle at something behind him.

"You know the spell…DO IT!" The voice urged

Harry turned around to see Voldemort standing behind him, wand in hand. Harry raised his to fire a spell, but Voldemort disarmed him, with a simple wave of his hand, sending Harry's wand clattering along the ground.

"Such bad manners Harry" Voldemort tutted in a condescending manner "I must say I'm disappointed…such a weak boy!"

Harry glared at the man before him. He opened his mouth to respond, when he heard what could be best described as a birdsong, before there was a torrent of flames, where Dumbledore appeared a second later, wand in hand. He looked at Harry, before his eyes narrowed, when his gaze turned to Voldemort.

"Foolish of you to be here Riddle" Dumbledore said, moving forward so he was next to Harry "Very foolish indeed…an alert has been sent…the Aurors are now on their way"

"Mere Aurors cannot defeat me old man" Voldemort sneered "Besides, by the time they arrive I will be gone and you…shall be dead!"

Voldemort gave no chance for a response, as he fired a killing curse at them. As quick as a flash, Dumbledore wandlessly pushed Harry away, to safety, before firing a spell of his own, causing the two to clash in a jet of red and green lights, connected by a glowing orb in the center. The result of the clash, caused sparks to go flying across the room. Bellatrix quickly shuffled backwards to avoid the sparks and ended up crawling into a fireplace, flooing away, disappearing in green flames. Harry, who had slid to a nearby pillar, remained crouched in his corner, unable to move as sparks flew around him, impacting the pillars, walls and floors, causing cracks and chunks to go flying. Harry wanted to help, but knew it would be impossible. Even if he did find his wand, he probably wouldn't be able to get to it, without being hit and therefore, stayed put for now.

Voldemort began to panic, as the orb of light began moving closer and closer to him. He could feel his spell weakening! Dumbledore was winning! Growling in frustration, he dropped the spell, severing the connection, before Voldemort flicked his wand, an arc of flames appearing in the air, which grew in size, taking the form of a giant snake. Voldemort laughed, as he took a step back, wanting to see how the old headmaster was going to stop this. The snake looked down on Dumbledore, before it lunged forward. Dumbledore quickly flicked his wand, causing the snake to recoil, as the flames began to warp and shrink, before Dumbledore sent the flames back at Voldemort. The Dark Lord snarled, as he flicked his wand to get rid of the flames, which was the distraction Dumbledore wanted, to flick his wand once more, making the water from a nearby fountain warp and move, trapping Voldemort in a solid ball of water, lifting him up in the air.

Harry remained where he was on the ground, choosing not to get involved for the time being, until he could at least find his wand. Voldemort was getting angry at the mockery Dumbledore was making of him and jabbed his wand forward, causing the water to splash to the floor, allowing him to land on his feet, where he brought his hands to his chest, before thrusting them outwards, with a yell, sending a wave of magic flying across the room, which sent Dumbledore and Harry tumbling slightly, as all the glass in the Atrium shattered. As the shards began to fall, he jabbed his wand towards Dumbledore, making the glass fly towards him and Harry, at lightning speeds. Not to be won over, Dumbledore produced a shield, causing the shards to turn to dust upon impact. The smile on Voldemort's face turned to a look of fury, as he saw this happen. As he looked upon Dumbledore and Harry, he thought. Dumbledore was too powerful. Voldemort could feel the mans magic and it was strong. If he was to kill Dumbledore, he will need a better way to do it. With that, still keeping his eyes on his two enemies, he Disapparated away, in a cloud of black smoke.

Harry was confused about Voldemort's actions. He just gave up? From the stories Harry had been told, he thought this was odd. It was then, when he fell to the ground, as he felt something enter his mind. Dumbledore immediatley noticed, rushing over to see if he was okay. Harry could feel Voldemort in his mind, slowly breaking through his barriers, seeing his memories, trying to take over as a small voice in his head told him to kill Dumbledore. Harry tried to resist. He may not like Dumbledore, but he didn't want the man dead. Remembering his lessons with Snape, Harry latched onto the small probe in his mind and forced it out, which caused immense pain, as he felt Voldemort's presence leave his mind. Harry opened in his eyes, to see Voldemort standing over him, looking a little hurt and furious. They seemed to be inside some kind of bubble, where everything outside seemed to be frozen, or at least, slowed down compared to them.

"How impressive…but not impressive enough" Voldemort sneered, pointing his wand at Harry "Now, I will finish what I started…"

James growled, as he watched his uncle and several Death Eaters, including Lucius Malfoy escape, in a black cloud. He couldn't be certain how long they were fighting for, but now, most of the Death Eaters were either dead, or apprehended. There was one Death Eater who was sat alongside his captured friends, with half of one arm missing and missing his hand on the other. Needless to say he was wishing he was dead. James' eyes narrowed in anger, as he thought back to his uncle. He knew he would never truly rest until he killed the man. Shrugging it off for now, he looked around for Harry. James had seen what happened and needed to see if he was okay.

"Remus!" He called, approaching the werewolf "Where is Harry?"

"He ran through that doorway" Remus pointed to the door opposite them, tears down his cheeks "He went after Bellatrix, when Sirius fell through the Veil"

James wasted no time and went running through the door, Remus pointed out, hoping his brother hadn't done anything stupid. However, he stood in shock as he saw Voldemort standing over Harry, the tip of his wand glowing green. James quickly fired a skin shredder at Voldemort, who quickly turned and blocked it. The man growled, but before anything else could happen, Aurors began arriving in the Atrium, shocked to see Voldemort standing there. Voldemort looked at those around him, before looking back at Harry.

"Another time Potter" He sneered, Disapparating away.

Harry quickly found himself in the Headmasters office in Hogwarts. They had just come back after giving all necessary information to Cornelius, who was less then happy about what happened, but declared to give Orders of Merlin for all those involved, as he believed they deserved it. Harry, however, remained quiet the whole time, letting others do the talking. He could only think about Sirius falling through the Veil. Even now he remained quiet, as Dumbledore looked at him concerned.

"I wish to give my condolences Harry" Dumbledore said, in a gentle tone "I really am sorry…I can only imagine what pain you must be going through right now"

"What I want to know…" Harry replied, voice quiet and cold "Is why you never told me about the prophecy"

"I thought you weren't ready to have such a burden on your shoulders" Dumbledore sighed "Besides, I wanted you to have a normal childhood"

"A normal childhood?" Harry repeated quietly, before he exploded in rage "A NORMAL CHILDHOOD! YOU PLACED ME AT THE DURSLEYS, WHO BEAT ME, STARVED ME, RARELY LET ME WASH, FORCED ME TO DO ALL THE CHORES AND PUNISHED ME IF I DIDN'T FINISH THEM IN TIME, OR IF THEY WEREN'T UP TO THEIR STANDARDS, WHICH WAS ALL THE TIME, ALL BECAUSE I HAD MAGIC, I HARDLY CALL THAT A NORMAL CHILDHOOD, SIR!"

A Harry went on with his rant, he paced back and force, where the objects and furniture in the room began to violently rumble and break and fly across the room.

"I DIDN'T HAVE A NORMAL CHILDHOOD UNTIL JAMES HAD THEM ARRESTED…EVEN THEN I WOULDN'T REALLY CALL MY CHILDHOOD NORMAL WITH A BASILISK, DEMENTORS AND A DARK LORD AFTER ME!" Harry continued "AND NOW SIRIUS IS DEAD…ALL OF THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF YOU TOLD ME ABOUT THE PROPHECY AND TRAINED ME FROM DAY ONE, BUT NO, I HAD TO LEARN…FROM A FUCKING DEATH EATER…ABOUT A PROPHECY…I MAY NOT BE THE SMARTEST, BUT I KNOW WHAT IT WAS SAYING, 'NEITHER CAN LIVE WHILST THE OTHER SURVIVES'…MEANING EITHER ME OR VOLDEMORT MUST DIE…YOU COULD HAVE TOLD ME ALL THIS A LONG TIME AGO, BUT NO…SIRIUS IS NOW DEAD, BECAUSE OF YOUR NEGLIGANCE!"

Harry then let out a maniacal laugh, as objects flew and shattered around him.

"And do you know what's even better…you expect me to trust you…I can tell, that's why you've been trying to get me trained and work with me ever since the Dark Wanker returned, but here is the thing sir…HOW CAN I TRUST YOU, WHEN YOU KEEP SECRETS LIKE THIS FROM ME? DID YOU NOT THINK I DESERVED TO KNOW SOMETHING LIKE THIS? I TRUST JAMES, BECAUSE I KNOW THAT, HE TELLS ME EVERYTHING, THE ONLY SECRETS HE HAD WERE PERSONAL THINGS FROM HIS PAST…COMPARED TO HIM, HOW CAN I TRUST YOU…TO YOU, I'M LIKE A PAWN IN WHATEVER CHESS GAME YOU HAVE GOING ON!"

With nothing else to say, Harry stormed from the room, slamming the door behind him. The office was a wreck. Dumbledore stayed where he was, remaining silent. At first, he allowed Harry to let out his rage, so he could get over his grief, but fell into shock at some of the things Harry said. Though it was probably a bad time, he would need to talk to Harry about the Horcruxes sometime soon. He and Harry needed to work together, even if Harry hated him right now. He was worried however. He took note of how Fawkes was reacting to Harry, and if Fawkes' trills were anything to go by, Harry was slowly going down a darker path. Dumbledore hoped he could stop that from happening.

James entered the dorm room, he shared with Harry. He had been very silent and James was worried. He saw his friend looking out the window, which had a view of the surface of the Black Lake, several fish like creatures swimming around.

"Harry?" He called out softly "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine" Harry replied, not turning around, no emotion in his voice

"Okay…well…we're all worried about you" James said "I just want you to know that we're sorry…and if you need…"

"I SAID I'M FINE JAMES!" Harry snapped, turning around violently

Harry immediatley felt guilty, as he saw his friend, his brother, visibly wince at his tone and take a physical step back. James opened and closed his mouth a couple of times before he nodded and left the room. James walked back into the Common Room, where Daphne was leaning against one of the sofa's. She jumped off, when she saw James.

"Well?" She asked

James closed his eyes for a moment, before opening them again. A single tear fell down his cheek, as he shook his head. Tears began to fall freely, down Daphne's cheeks, her calm demeanour shattered, as she fell against the sofa once more, thinking about the agony their friend must be going through, right now.

Done! Merlin, can you believe we are close to 80 chapters? Judging by the length of each era/movie in this story, I suspect this fanfic will be about 100 chapters long. The next chapter will wrap up The Order of the Phoenix, which I think has been the longest era in this story, but I could be wrong.

The only thing I want to talk about is Harry and Dumbledore, talking in his office. Whilst I thought the movie was better then the book at times, the scene where they talk about the prophecy was 10 times better in the book. To my recollection, in the book, Harry was raging and throwing things around, like you saw in this scene but in the movie, he was sitting and calmly talk to Dumbledore, as if they were discussing the weather. Every time I watch that scene I think: 'Harry, your godfather just died you know, "The only family you've got left", aren't you going to rage at least a little bit'. I feel like anyone would be raging in a moment like this. Of course, with Harry's distrust in Dumbledore, mixed with finding out about the prophecy, Dumbledore's reasons for keeping it hidden and Sirius' death, his rage was amplified just a tiny bit.

This can only mean one thing. What does this mean for the future? I guess we will just have to wait and see, when the next few chapters are published. I hope I'll see you then.

Badger out!
