Best Friend's Brother 3

Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto or any characters used aside from my OC.

Two days had gone by since Natsumi's first day, and the young girl found herself adjusting fairly well to the new school, or at least better than she thought she would at first. She felt that the new friends she had made had greatly influenced the process. She had continued to grow closer to Naruto and Sasuke's group of friends (excluding Sakura and Ino of course), as well as Hinata, who she considered an especially close friend.

The dark haired girl was currently sitting in her homeroom awaiting a certain boy. When the sudden squeals of many girls' rang out, Natsumi knew he was near. Her brown eyes flickered towards the door in anticipation, as the coos of fan girls increased. Then there he was, Sasuke Uchiha.

His onyx eyes immediately met her brown ones and he somehow knew what was she was thinking. So he slowly made his way over to the young girl and took his seat next to her before speaking.

"It's not my fault" the boy immediately let out looking over the young girl.

"Sure it isn't" the girl replied coldly, looking away from his gaze.

"How was I supposed to know?" the boy sighed in irritation as he leaned back in his seat.

"We have not been able to work on this presentation for the past two days because of YOUR fan club" Natsumi said turning back to the boy, obviously irritated.

"So choosing to work on campus has been a bad idea" Sasuke stated looking to the front of the class.

"Is there any place we can work where you won't be fawned over by your 'adoring fans'?" the dark haired girl asked using air quotes around 'adoring fans'. The Uchiha glared at the young girl, who responded with a blank face.

"Fine, we can work on it at my house. Just meet me at the front of the school after today." Sasuke said, running a hand through his black locks.

"Ok because you realize its due tomorrow" Natsumi simply responded, just before the bell rang and Iruka sensei started his class.

Homeroom was rather uneventful, as Sasuke and Natsumi had learned to avoid confrontation with one another, at the risk of being made a spectacle by the class.

It had become a habit of walking to history with Naruto. The hyperactive blonde had a certain charm about him. He could so easily make you feel comfortable as he talked so freely.

Natsumi noted that Naruto was the type of person who could make friends with anyone, which explained his large group of friends. He was so outgoing and so kind; it was no wonder Hinata liked him. Natsumi was at first a little weary of the blonde, as he had a way of attracting attention, something she wanted to avoid, but Naruto was a good friend and he made her feel welcome.

As the teens had finally made their way into their class, Naruto had finished his tale, and although Natsumi hadn't fully kept up with his conversation, she nodded and smiled, which then prompted the blonde boy to excitedly begin a new story. Taking her eyes off the young man, Natsumi eyes quickly scanned the room of the students present, causing the young girl to sigh, as her eyes fell upon the depressed figure of Kiba. The brown haired boy had a certain dark aura about him since, Natsumi had denied his invitation to hang out, and the fact that every time after was interrupted by the fact that she and Sasuke had yet to finish their presentation.

'At this point he probably thinks I'm blowing him off just because of Sasuke' the dark haired girl thought, biting her lower lip in thought.

"Everything ok, Natsumi?" Naruto suddenly asked placing a hand on the young girl's shoulders and causing her to jump in surprise.

"I'm good" the girl lied, as the two made their way to their seats.

"Natsumi" Naruto said knowingly, giving the girl a serious look.

"It's just the presentation with Sasuke, everyone's pretty much done but it's like we haven't even started." The girl complained.

"Really?" Naruto questioned, before a smile crossed his face.

"What?" Natsumi questioned raising a brow at the blonde's reaction.

"It's nothing" the boy obviously lied, scratching his cheek with his index finger. Natsumi released an annoyed sigh as she looked over Naruto, who seemed to be avoiding her gaze.

"Naruto" she said in a warning tone.

"Oh it's nothing Natsumi" the Uzamaki boy replied letting out a slight chuckle, before jumping in his seat when Natsumi suddenly slammed her hand on his desk. His blonde eyes immediately shifted to meet her brown orbs, and the boy filled with fear seeing her grim expression.

"Naruto" she said once more in a low voice that made the blonde's hair stand on end.

"W-well it-it's just … I-I never thought I'd ever be finishing an assignment before Sasuke" Naruto sputtered out, managing to hold his hands up in defense.

"You're already done?" Natsumi asked in disbelief, suddenly changing her demeanor, from that of darkness to gloom.

'This is a disaster' the dark haired girl thought running a hand through her hair.

"Well not yet, but if you two haven't started then I think I'll finish first" Naruto explained scratching the back of his head. Natsumi had no response as she placed her head on her desk.

"You ok?" Naruto asked in a concerned tone, placing a careful hand on the girl's back. Natsumi simply sighed in reply, before lifting her head to rest her chin on the desk, and wait for their teacher.

'I hate this project' the girl thought in defeat.

"Hey it's going to be alright." Naruto said offering an encouraging smile.

"And how do you know that?" Natsumi questioned in a serious tone.

"Because I've known Sasuke a long time and even though he seems like a huge showoff, he's actually really focused and he cares about getting things done."

"If you say so Naruto" the dark haired girl said sitting up.

"Besides, you seem scary enough to keep him motivated." The blonde joked, causing a smile to grace the girl's lips, before realization sunk in.

"Wait what?" Natsumi asked, just before Asuma entered the class to begin his lesson.

"Oh nothing" Naruto chuckled giving the girl a bright smile, to which she rolled her eyes, before the teens focused their attention on their teacher's instructions.

'I really hope Naruto is right' the dark haired girl thought as she weaved her way through the crowded halls to her next class.

"Penny for your thoughts?" a smooth male voice then sounded, breaking the girl's thoughts. Turning to the source, she was pleased to see the familiar face of the teacher's intern, Kabuto.

"Hey" Natsumi greeted the young man, with a smile, as she observed the stack of papers he held.

"A lot on your mind?" the white haired boy questioned as he walked alongside the girl.

"Just school" she replied back, trying to avoid the eyes of some that passed by.

"That never changes" he admitted with a smile. "What class?" he asked looking over the young girl.

"Um Homeroom" the dark haired teen replied sheepishly.

"What do they have you doing in there?" he asked raising a brow at her answer.

"This presentation where we have to present our partner to the class." Natsumi explained.

"An introduction?" Kabuto asked with a confused expression.

"Basically" Natsumi replied.

"Oh … so do we not like our partner?" he asked turning his head.

"Not entirely" Natsumi admitted as the pair approached Orochimaru's classroom.

"Who is it?" Kabuto asked curiously, as both came to a halt outside the door.

"Him" Natsumi stated flatly motioning towards the dark haired Uchiha.

"Don't tell me you're in love with him" the tall male said leaning down to whisper in the young girl's ear. She quickly turned to him giving him an offended look.

"When hell freezes over I'll be that dumb." Natsumi said holding up a hand towards Sasuke and as if right on cue, Karin walked over twirling her red hair around her finger in an attempt to flirt with said boy. Natsumi and Kabuto immediately broke out into laughter, catching the attention of the red head and Uchiha who shot the pair a dirty look.

"Could you have taken any longer?" Sasuke said angrily as he suddenly approached the two, and took hold of Natsumi to drag her to her seat.

"Nice to see you too" Natsumi replied sarcastically, earning another dirty look from Sasuke.

"Sasuke why do you even bother with this mess?" the red head said in a snarky tone as the boy pushed Natsumi into her seat.

"Mess?" Natsumi asked quickly turning to face the red head.

"Just ignore her" Sasuke immediately instructed, sitting down in his usual composed posture.

"I really can't see how a girl like you gets to sit next to Sasuke" Karin stated leaning in close to inspect Natsumi, while adjusting her glasses.

"Maybe you've got the wrong prescription then" Natsumi replied leaning back from the red heads gaze.

Immediately Karin's face turned bright red as she stepped back from Natsumi in embarrassment.

"How dare you imply that I have the wrong glasses!" Karin all but shrieked adjusting them yet again in a dramatic fashion.

"Excuse me students, but Orochimaru-sensei has just informed me he'll be running late so he wanted me to start the class." came the voice of Kabuto.

"It's not like the bell rang yet or that you're a teacher" Karin now stated rudely turning to face the white haired intern.

Kabuto simply smirked and crossed his arms, and as if on cue the bell rang. The remaining students scurried to their seats, but Karin didn't move, as she stared defiantly at the intern.

"Miss Uzamaki please take your seat now or make your way to the office for insubordination." Kabuto stated firmly with a voice much more demanding than the kind one Natsumi knew.

"You c-can't do that" Karin replied nervously taking a step back.

"Would you like to try me" the young man challenged with a dark look crossing his face. He had an immediate response as the red headed teen went to take her seat. His dark eyes scanned the entirety of the class to make sure everyone else was falling in line, before he chose to speak again.

"As you all know Orochimaru-sensei is a very busy man, as he splits his time between both schools and his own research experiments. So on the days he is running late or unable to make it, he has given me the authority to run his class and all discipline as I see fit" he said taking a moment to glare towards Karin at the end.

Natsumi wore no expression as she continued to listen to Kabuto's instructions for the class. The class worked quietly for most of the period, until the intern mentioned that he needed to take a call outside and exited promptly. The class then broke into various conversations.

"Can you believe how fast he shut Karin down?"

"I never knew he was the take charge type"

"I know he's usually so quiet"

"Do you think he would release us early?"

"Not after Karin put him in a mood" the various voices of the class sounded.

"It's not my fault!" Karin suddenly said catching the attention of the students. "If the new girl hadn't been such a pain then maybe he wouldn't have gotten mad at me" the red head tried to defend herself.

"You know the new girl is the only one I've seen him talk to"

"But I thought she was into Sasuke?"

"I heard she was going out with Naruto"

"I saw her sneaking around with Sasuke after school yesterday though" the chatter now went on, much to the dismay of Natsumi.

'Seriously why does everything revolve around Sasuke?' the dark haired teen thought starting to drop her head on the desk, only to be stopped by a hand. When she turned her head to the side to see the owner, she sighed seeing Sasuke.

"Can I help you?" she asked narrowing her eyes at him.

"You know you shouldn't be sleeping in class" the Uchiha stated in a bored tone.

"You know you should mind your business" the girl shot back in the same tone, before lifting her head, taking hold of Sasuke's hand with both of hers and pushing it away. The action caught the young man by surprise, so in response, he tried to stop her by placing his other hand on top of the young girls.

"Oh children I leave you in the care of Kabuto for one class and I come back to a report of defiance, find unapproved socializing, and hand holding" Orochimaru sensei suddenly said walking through the door, causing the class to freeze and turn to look to him, as well as Natsumi and Sasuke who still had each other's hands intertwined. Both teens immediately released one another, as they could feel the immediate rush of red to their faces.

"Children we're going to have a long talk on appropriate classroom behavior" the teacher then said, making the students groan in annoyance. "Now open your school handbooks to page 12 where we will read and write a comprehension essay due next class, along with your regular homework" he announced, making more groans escape his students.

The rest of the class was silent as the class worked vigorously to complete as much as they could to avoid extra work at home.

"I wonder why Kabuto never came back to class after that call" Natsumi thought as stared at the clock, waiting until they would be dismissed for lunch.

"Are you alright Natsumi?" Hinata suddenly asked, breaking the young girl's thoughts.

"Uh yeah I'm fine" she answered quickly.

"You seem so distracted, is this about what you and N-Naruto were talking about this morning?" Hinata asked nervously, looking down shyly when speaking of the blonde.

"That was just about the presentation with Sasuke" Natsumi replied releasing a heavy sigh, as she remembered to lack of progress the pair had made.

"Has it really been that difficult to finish it?" Hinata asked furrowing her brows in concern.

"We haven't even started" Natsumi admitted dully, causing Hinata to raise her brows in surprise.

"Are you two fighting two much to start?" Hinata asked in disbelief.

"It's more of finding somewhere his fan club won't follow" Natsumi answered.

"The library" Hinata suggested.

"We tried there, until his fan club knocked over a shelf trying to climb on it to watch us"

"That's what happened" Hinata responded in disbelief again.

"Yeah and when we tried to sneak out in the chaos we were chased through the whole school and left ducking and hiding like idiots" Natsumi went on obviously irritated by the memory. Hinata simply laughed.

"Any other girl would've died to be in that situation" Hinata went on.

"Yeah well I don't think I'm as crazy about the whole thing as Sakura or Ino would've been" Natsumi replied.

"Or Karin" Hinata said jokingly, but making Natsumi stiffen at the name.

"I swear if this presentation with him doesn't kill me, then one of them might" Natsumi sighed closing her eyes in frustration.

"Wow and this whole time you really had us all believing that you weren't sweating the attention, what a drag" the monotone voice of a young man suddenly said approaching the young girls.

"Shikamaru" both girls said in unison as they acknowledged the young man's presence.

"The week will be over soon and you two have barely noticed I'm in this class too?" the boy asked scratching the back of his neck casually.

"Oh we're sorry Shikamaru" Hinata automatically replied while Natsumi simply raised a brow.

"What?" Shikamaru questioned turning his attention to the brown eyed girl.

"Oh I'm sorry but with that line, I almost mistook you for Shino" the girl replied sarcastically, causing Shikamaru to coil back slightly and Hinata to release an involuntary snort as she tried to avoid laughing.

"Natsumi" Hinata said before clasping a hand over her own mouth in embarrassment at the sound that escaped previously.

"So she can bite back" Shikamaru responded with a sideways smile.

"It must be such a drag" Natsumi responded offering the boy a playful smile.

"And she's funny too" Shikamaru replied surprised by the girl's remark.

"Hn" Natsumi replied leaning back in her seat as she turned her head to check the time again.

"Are you looking forward to lunch?" Hinata now asked interjecting herself into the conversation again.

"Yeah I'm looking forward to not sweating all the attention" the girl responded sarcastically, just before the bell rang and the other students began to file out.

"Well if that's the case we should walk together" Shikamaru offered as the girls stood.

"I'm sorry but I'm meeting Neji beforehand" Hinata had replied.

With that said, she had made her leave now it was just Natsumi and Shikamaru, slowly making their way through the halls.

"So how do you like the school so far?" the boy with the spiky ponytail asked, folding his hands behind his head.

"It's not too bad" the dark haired girl replied honestly running a hand through her hair.

"Oh yeah, are you enjoying the extra alone time with Sasuke?" Shikamaru now asked looking over the girl, only to see a dark aura suddenly surround her at the mention of the Uchiha.

"Of all the things to like about this school, he's not one of them" the girl replied, catching Shikamaru off guard.

"That's not what most of the girls here would say" he replied honestly.

"Most of the girls must not know about something called self-respect" Natsumi admitted with a blank expression, further alarming Shikamaru.

'Kind of scary how much she's like Sasuke, even if she's not all that crazy about him.' Shikamaru thought as the pair continued on in silence. He eyed her carefully, subconsciously comparing the two dark haired teens. 'Not only do they both have pitch black hair, stoic expressions, but the same attitudes as well.'

"See anything you like?" Natsumi suddenly questioned, alarming Shikamaru, as he tried to avert his gaze, luckily for him the pair had finally made it to the front of the lunch line and the food options made a pretty good distraction.

"If Choji were here he'd always go for the barbeque" Shikamaru commented looking at the display of food.

"Hn" Natsumi replied, ignoring the fact that the boy had avoided her question's reference to him observing her.

It was strange arriving so early with Shikamaru, as they'd beat almost everyone to their table. The next to arrive was Choji, who'd eyed the two for a moment before occupying himself with his tray. After were the Sand Siblings, Kankuro simply nodded in greeting, Gaara seemed indifferent as he ignored everyone, and Temari had started to say hi, until Natsumi noticed how her eyes lingered towards her and Shikamaru.

'Is there something I'm missing?' Natsumi thought looking between Temari and Shikamaru, as she could feel an awkward tension in the air. Shortly afterwards the awkwardness was soon pushed to the side by the oncoming commotion of the arrival of two boys.

"Sasuke!" the squeals of various girls sounded off, making Natsumi sigh in frustration as she waited for Sasuke and Naruto to arrive.

"Natsumi!" Naruto said excitedly as the boys approached the table.

"The idiot thought you wouldn't show up and he got more worried when we stopped by your last class" Sasuke said in a bored tone.

"You guys stopped by my class?" Natsumi asked raising a brow as the boys begin to take their perspective seats (Sasuke sitting next to Natsumi and Naruto squeezing between her and Shikamaru).

"It was the dobe's idea since he knew your schedule" Sasuke defended himself, making the young girl turn her attention to the blonde, who laughed nervously. Natsumi could see as his blue eyes shot the Uchiha a dirty look before starting to fumble with his words and with each passing moment becoming more flustered in embarrassment.

"We walked from there together" Shikamaru suddenly said cutting in, and saving Naruto from the girl's prying eyes.

"That's why you two were together?" Temari now followed up, surprising Natsumi as she noticed that even though the Sand Siblings sat with this group, they were very quiet. When her brown eyes met Temari's sea blue eyes, she felt a chill, as the blonde girl snapped her gaze away immediately.

"Why does that matter?" Shikamaru asked, a question so simple, yet as soon as it was uttered, silence fell upon the table of students. Everyone exchanged knowing looks of discomfort.

"Well would you look at the time I just remembered we have that thing in the library- gym I mean" Kankuro nervously announced standing up.

"Library-gym?" Gaara asked giving his brother a confused look.

"Uh yeah and I forgot Asuma-sensei asked to speak to me and Shikamaru" Choji then interjected earning a questionable look from Shikamaru.

"When was this?" Shikamaru now asked in disbelief, turning to his friend.

"Uh earlier, so we got to go now" Choji now said standing up and beginning to gather the contents of his tray into his arms.

"What a drag" Shikamaru responded, starting to stand as well. Meanwhile both Kankuro and Gaara started to pull their sister along.

"Hey where's everyone going?" Sakura said now approaching the mostly empty table.

"Choji? Shikamaru? Where are you guys headed?" Ino now asked as the boys passed by her.

"Apparently Asuma-sensei wanted to see us" Shikamaru responded, looking over the blonde girl.

"Maybe I should go too" Ino thought out loud, before taking her boxed salad and water bottle under her arm and following the boys out.

"And then there were fewer" Natsumi said quietly, as she looked around to the few that remained at her table.

"Move it!" Sakura then said aggressively shoving Natsumi aside as she pushed her way next to Sasuke.

"Sakura" Naruto whined as Natsumi was pushed into him.

"Shut it Naruto" Sakura said giving the boy a dirty look, it was as if you could see the fires of rage from her eyes, something that made both Natsumi and Naruto cower back, until the pinkette turned her attention back to the annoyed looking Uchiha.

"Touchy" Natsumi commented, before realizing the timid way Naruto held her, like the way a child clutches a teddy bear. She gave him a stoic look, before he himself noticed, and he immediately released his grasp on her.

"Heh sorry about that" the blonde boy apologized nervously scratching his cheek.

"Mm Hm" the dark haired girl replied scooting away from the blonde and inevitably bumping into Sakura, who in turn looked at her with a deadly gaze and growled.

'What the –' Natsumi began, before her thoughts were interrupted.

"I don't have time for this" Sasuke suddenly said standing from the table. "Come on we shouldn't be wasting time with this" The boy went on, taking hold of Natsumi's forearm and making the young girl rise to follow, along with her tray.

"W-wait a minute Sasuke! Where are you going?" Sakura asked.

"We're eating outside to get away from the noise so we can start our presentation" the dark haired boy replied. Sakura nodded in understanding before gathering her things to stand, until Sasuke spoke again. "No, just Natsumi and I. We don't need the distraction so stay here" he said in a commanding tone, which automatically seated the pink haired girl.

The two dark haired teens then quietly exited, leaving Naruto and Sakura alone at the empty table.

'What good luck' the blonde thought scooting closer to the girl with a wide grin on his face.

"Don't even think about it Naruto!" Sakura said in a warning tone, making the young man freeze before proceeding to move away again.

"Hello friends I finally have my schedule sorted out!" Sai suddenly said approaching the table, but stopped when he noticed the entirety of empty seats that were usually occupied by the various friends.

"Oh great now Sai is here!" Naruto exclaimed letting his head fall to the table dramatically.

"Oh shut up Naruto!" Sakura then said raising her voice as she turned to the blonde while balling her fist angrily.

"Oh great I'm glad you two are happy to see me" Sai responded with his signature smile as he sat in front of the two gloomy looking teens (but in true Sai fashion, ignoring the emotional turmoil and preceding to try and chat happily).

"That was dramatic" Natsumi commented after the pair took a seat under a tree behind the school.

"They have no idea how difficult they make things" Sasuke responded as he closed his eyes and leaned against the tree. Natsumi watched the young man breath slowly, as she took in his features further. His fair skin and how it contrasted with his dark hair.

'I wonder what's going on with Shikamaru and Temari?' the girl thought turning her attention to the sky and beginning to watch the clouds. 'I wonder if Sasuke knows or if he'd even tell me if I asked?' she went on in thought.

"Well we might as well start" Sasuke said bringing the girl back.

"Mm" the girl hummed in response.

"You go first" the boy said, as Natsumi returned her attention from the sky, having her brown eyes meet his onyx.

"What do you have so far?" the girl asked picking up an apple from her tray and beginning to eat it.

"Natsumi Nakamaru, a junior, black hair, brown eyes, advanced academic student and annoying" Sasuke responded, earning a glare from the girl and giving her his signature smirk in return.

"Oh you have it all figured out Mr. Attitude" Natsumi retorted sarcastically, before taking another bite of her apple.

"Hn whatever" Sasuke said now opening his water bottle to take a sip. Natsumi narrowed her eyes at the Uchiha, but just as she opened her mouth to speak, a bit of her apple lodged itself in the back of her throat and the young girl began choking. Immediately her eyes went to her tray, when she then realized she'd forgotten to bring her drink. She imagined it back in the cafeteria, left abandoned next to Naruto. Panic began to set as she tried to clear her throat but to no avail.

'Shit!' She thought bringing a hand to her neck as she continued to try and dislodge the object.

Sasuke's eyes grew wide at the sight. At first he believed she was messing around to get back at him, but it went on too long. Her once fair skin, was turning blue, so he acted fast, bringing down a hard hand to her back, repeating the action twice, until the girl spit out the apple piece. Natsumi coughed a few times before managing to take in a few deep breaths.

"Thanks" the girl managed to say breathlessly after a while, wiping her mouth in case there was any sign of saliva.

"Here stupid be careful next time" Sasuke said holding his water to Natsumi's mouth, making the girl take down the substance. After the few first gulps, Natsumi pushed away his hand and shot the boy a glare.

"Who do you think you're calling stupid?" the girl replied hotly.

"I'm not the one who forgot how to chew their food" Sasuke retorted playfully patting her on the back to mimic his action from before.

"Oh shut up" Natsumi replied pushing Sasuke's hand away, while the boy took another sip from his water.

'He's so irritating' Natsumi thought, letting her eyes wonder back to her tray, now picking up her slice of pizza and taking a small bite.

"Don't choke" Sasuke said in a cocky tone, earning a glare from the young girl yet again, which was then again met with his smirk.

"Let's just get back to the project" the girl said taking another bite before placing it back down and pulling out a blank paper, to hand to the Uchiha. "Ask me anything" the girl said as he took the sheet.

"Do you always almost die when you eat?" He asked with a playful smirk as he took a pen out to write with and then a book to write on.

"Sasuke" she replied in a warning tone, making the Uchiha laugh. It was something that sounded so foreign, yet it was nice. Natsumi simply rolled her eyes, before a smile found its way to her lips. "It's not that funny" she then whined, hitting the Uchiha on the arm, an action that only made the laughing continue, but from both teens.

"Ok I have one, if I didn't save you, what would your gravestone have read?" Sasuke now asked returning to his regular stoic expression.

"Well as dark as that is, it'd probably say: Natsumi Nakamaru, Beloved daughter, with a picture of an apple in the corner" the girl replied shooting the boy a playful smile, making the two break into laughter again. When the teens had finally ceased, silence befell them, as Natsumi watched Sasuke in deep thought.

"You said 'Beloved daughter'?" he then asked, thinking out loud. "Does that mean you're an only child?" Sasuke reasoned, looking to the teen girl beside him for confirmation.

"Yeah just me" she responded shrugging her shoulders.

"Hn" Sasuke replied, nodding in understanding. "What do your parents do?"

"They're both in business in a way" the girl began. "My mom travels a lot for her company and my father is an executive board member for his" Natsumi finished.

"They don't work for the same company?" Sasuke asked raising a brow.

"Not anymore" Natsumi said, looking away from Sasuke awkwardly.

'Maybe their work life is a touchy subject for her' the boy thought observing Natsumi's actions, like the way her eyes shifted uncomfortably from his gaze.

"How'd they meet?" Sasuke now asked trying to change the topic.

"Arranged marriage" the girl replied placing a hand on the back of her neck. Sasuke's eyes grew wide as he looked over the young girl, he didn't know what to say.

"Mine too" he suddenly said, catching Natsumi by surprise, as she quickly turned her head and their eyes met once more.

"Really?" Natsumi asked furrowing her brows.

"Yeah, my grandparents were kind of old school, but it wasn't a problem since they'd grown up together" Sasuke explained, picking up the bowl of fried rice on his tray and beginning to eat it.

"Oh" the girl responded, looking down in a way that the Uchiha could only read as sad. "Are they happy?" Natsumi abruptly asked, surprising both her and Sasuke, as she brought a hand to cover her mouth shyly. "I'm sorry you don't have to answer that" the girl said urgently shaking her hands to wave off the question.

"I've never seen anyone happier" he replied honestly, watching as Natsumi met his gaze and nodded with a half-smile, before looking towards the ground again.

"That's really good" she said yet even if the words she spoke were positive, Sasuke still felt the underlying sorrow beneath them.

"What about yours?" he asked curiously, as he watched the girl's gaze shift again.

"Divorced this past summer" Natsumi replied picking up her pizza again.

"Is that why you moved here?" Sasuke then asked, as both teens ate more.

"Yeah, when I decided I wanted to live with my mom, she figured the best place to do the whole single parent thing would be her hometown." Natsumi responded.

"Where did you move from?" Sasuke now asked setting down his bowl.

"Kyoto" the girl responded taking another bite from her slice.

"That's a far way from Konoha" Sasuke commented picking up an orange from his tray and beginning to peel it.

"Yeah" Natsumi replied taking a few more bites of her food as silence fell upon the teens again.

"Do you like the school so far?" Sasuke asked, trying to change to topic.

"Yeah" Natsumi answered placing her pizza crust back down.

"Have you made any friends?" the dark haired boy asked, handing the girl a slice of his orange.

"Naruto" the girl responded slowly accepting the fruit.

"He doesn't count, he's friends with everyone." Sasuke replied with a smirk.

"Hinata Hyuga" she said popping the fruit in her mouth.

"That quiet girl?" Sasuke asked raising a brow as he handed the girl another orange slice.

"Yup" Natsumi answered letting a smile cross her lips at the thought of her friend.

"Anyone else?" Sasuke asked sticking an orange piece into his mouth.

"…"Natsumi was quiet, making the boy turn his attention to her, but upon feeling his gaze, she could feel her face start to heat up.

"You haven't made more friends?" Sasuke asked in minor disbelief.

"Shut up" the girl said, taking another orange slice from Sasuke's open hand.

"What about Orochimaru's intern?" Sasuke asked leaning toward the girl. "Kabuto?" The Uchiha continued knowingly, as he leaned in toward the young girl. He was slowly observing Natsumi, testing a theory on how the girl would react if she liked the white haired intern.

"I guess" Natsumi replied shrugging her shoulders with a blank expression.

'I guess not, but a lot of the other girls seem to be infatuated with him already. I could've sworn with how chummy the two of them seem in Orochimaru's class.

"Kiba?" Sasuke now asked, as the brown haired boy with fangs came to mind. As well as the amount of times he'd try to ask out Natsumi, only to be rebuffed.

"I hope so" the girl admitted truthfully, as she too thought about the brunette male. Her thoughts only worsened when she remembered his depressed demeanor that morning.

"What do you mean?" Sasuke asked taking notice of the dark aura that now surrounded his dark haired companion.

"You realize every time he comes up to talk to me, you interrupt" the girl said, giving the dark haired boy a blank stare.

"That's so pathetic" Sasuke commented on the girl's short list.

"Oh Kankuro talked to me a lot in my art class!" Natsumi exclaimed, catching the boy off guard as he drank from his water and began choking again.

"You take art?" Sasuke asked after clearing his throat, hoping that Natsumi wouldn't notice, but she had.

"Yes" the girl replied trying to stifle a giggle but failing and earning a dirty look from the Uchiha.

"Hn" he responded looking away, with an embarrassed expression on his face.

The action which made Natsumi shake her head, before watching the Uchiha push his tray to the side as he leaned back onto the grass to watch the clouds above. Following his lead, Natsumi soon did the same, lying down beside the dark haired teen, to look up at the passing clouds. The sky was a brilliant shade of blue, with the rays of sunlight's shining down and bringing warmth to the teen girl's exposed skin. She found herself caught looking at the slow pace the clouds had as they drifted by the branches of the tree, the teens lay under. It was peaceful and quiet, with the ever so light breeze of air that blew loose blades of grass and leaves through the air. Yet as nice as it was, Natsumi couldn't help but feel the nervous feeling in her stomach as she thought about how much time the pair had left for lunch.

"Anyways I think we should head back now" Natsumi said sitting up to stretch.

"I think you're right" Sasuke said with a deep sigh as he rose from the ground and began to gather his belongings.

Natsumi did the same, leaving the two teens in silence as started their walk back to the building of the school with not much else to say. Sasuke found the silence to be peaceful and was grateful that the young girl wasn't the talkative type, as they made their way into the building filled with the bustling after lunch traffic. They continued on for a while, before exchanging silent nods of goodbye as they parted to make their way to their different locations.

"And so my interns sincerely apologize but they will be unable to make it to down this week" Kurenai-sensei explained, after one of the female students in class asked. The majority of the girls in the class released sighs of disappointments at the news. Natsumi simply rolled her eyes.

'Why are the girls in this school so hung up on guys?" she thought as she let her eyes wonder around the class, seeing that most of the unoccupied seats from before were now mostly filled, and to her disappointment with these girls that seemed more interested in these interns than the subject itself.

"Everything ok Natsumi?" Sai suddenly asked catching the attention of the young girl.

"I'm fine" Natsumi lied turning to the boy pale boy that was assigned next to her.

"I'm not the best at social situations but I can tell you're lying and you shouldn't lie to your friends Natsumi" Sai said offering the girl one of his classic smiles, making her eyebrow twitch as she stared at him.

"W-well I get enough of fan club types being around Sasuke so I like coming here and not dealing with any boy crazy antics" Natsumi explained slowly, watching as Sai processed the information before nodding his head in understanding.

"Excuse me everyone" Sai suddenly said standing up and gathering the attention of the class. "But if you could all tone down your hormonal impulses, my friend Natsumi and I would greatly appreciate it" the boy announced with a closed eyed smile, making Natsumi have a mini heart attack as the class then chorused in laughter.

'Damn it Sai' Natsumi thought turning her body away from the teen, in hopes to ignore the problem.

"Oh that's rich"

"Especially coming from the junior that hangs out with Sasuke Uchiha"

"Oh he's cute, but even he can't compare to his brother" A few voices of the senior girl's sounded off, catching Natsumi's attention at the mention of a brother.

'Sasuke has a brother?' Natsumi thought tuning in more to the gossip.

"It's such a shame that he left"

"I heard he's going to the local college this year"

"Yeah and I heard him and his friends started a band"

"They really have no idea about the interns do they?"

"That's so cute that they actually want to take this class serious"

"What do you expect from a couple of juniors?"

The masses of senior girls laughed, making Natsumi sink back in her chair, but Sai was completely oblivious, he went about sketching in his small book with his same closed eyed smile. The rest of the class eventually quieted down, when Kurenai- sensei cleared her throat, prompting the teens to work quietly until the bell.

Sitting in Kakashi-sensei's class, Natsumi couldn't help but let her eyes wonder the form of the Uchiha next to her. The young man was currently attentively looking forward in the same composed posture as always. His black bangs slightly fell into his onyx eyes, yet he still seemed so focused, with his hands folded and him resting on his elbows.

'He has a brother' Natsumi thought, looking over Sasuke more, as she thought back to the comments of the senior girls from her art class ran through her head.

"Oh he's cute, but even he can't compare to his brother"

'What does Sasuke's brother have to do with the art class interns?' Natsumi thought falling further into her thoughts.

"What are you looking at?" Sasuke suddenly asked, catching the girl off guard, immediately turning her eyes towards the front.

"N-nothing" she managed to stutter out nervously as she plastered on a fake smile, that could've mirrored Sai's.

"Hn whatever idiot" Sasuke replied in his regular monotone voice and stoic expression, as he returned his eyes to the front of the class.

'I wonder what they met when they said Sasuke doesn't compare to his brother' Natsumi thought releasing a sigh as she tried to focus her attention on the notes Kakashi-sensei was currently writing down on the board. But her mind wouldn't let her as she began to try and imagine a better version of Sasuke. 'Older, Taller, Handsome, and overall with a better attitude' the girl began to mentally list as she started trying to envision to older Uchiha brother.

"Natsumi!" Kakashi-sensei's voice suddenly rang out bringing the teen out of her daze, harshly. "If you would so kindly join us back from La-la land, I asked a question" the silver haired man said, crossing his arms as he looked to the dark haired student.

"S-sorry Kakashi-sensei" Natsumi immediately apologized.

The class went on without much incident after that, the students continued on with the notes and Kakashi-sensei saying the class was to be dismissed when the bell rang, before exiting.

"Oh great now he's going to come back late for math" Naruto commented loudly, breaking the silence of the students.

The class then chorused in various conversations until the bell rang and the students filed out.

"Hey Natsumi are you ok?" Naruto suddenly asked catching the attention of the girl beside him.

"Uh yeah" Natsumi replied back in a monotone voice, accompanied by a blank expression.

"Are the hormones bothering you again?" Sai suddenly interrupted leaning forward in his seat to look over Naruto to the dark haired girl that immediately turned two shades redder.

"Shut up Sai" Natsumi immediately responded holding up her hands to stop the young man from talking any further.

"W-what are you talking about?" Naruto then asked as a confused look crossed his face and he began to scratch the back of his head.

"Nothing!" Natsumi immediately answered looking to Sai, in hopes that he would get the message, but he did not.

"Natsumi is uncomfortable with the teenage hormones" the pale boy said with his normal closed eyed smile, making Natsumi fall out of her chair in embarrassment. Naruto had nothing to say as he simply chuckled awkwardly at the answer he was given.

"That's not it at all!" Natsumi said rising up and shaking her hands vigorously in embarrassment to stop the discussion. Just then the bell rang, giving the girl a temporary reprieve as she sat, but once again she was sadly mistaken as the class now erupted in chaos over the new topic.

"Sounds like the new girl is a prude"

"That's too bad considering how hot she is"

"Ha good luck getting anywhere with her"

"I bet she'd give it up with the right guy"

"You have to admit it's a nice change from all the sluts at this school"

"Are you kidding it's probably all an act to get Sasuke's attention"

Hearing the various comments of her classmates, Natsumi dropped her head into her arms on her desk in defeat.

'And I thought the first day gossip was bad' the teen thought taking a deep breath to calm her nerves.

"Sorry I'm late guys, the craziest thing happened, this black cat crossed my path so I had to take the long way" the silver haired man said entering the room with an awkward smile, but much to his surprise there was no usual backlash, as he noticed that his students were currently ignoring him as they conversed.

"Oh Kakashi-sensei!" one the male students at the back, suddenly exclaimed catching the attention of the class.

'Thank god' Natsumi thought looking up to the teacher, who she knew would calm the class and start a lesson on math that was as far away from this topic as possible, but yet again she was wrong.

"Kakashi-sensei what can you tell us about our hormones?" Sai suddenly asked while raising his hand, he was serious, but his question silenced the class and alarmed not only Natsumi, but the teacher as well.

The silver haired man, usually seemed so laid back and composed, but even he was thrown off as the students observed the pink blush that crossed his face just above his mask.

"W-well that's not really in my pay grade or curriculum" Kakashi-sensei responded nervously smiling at his attentive class, as he scratched the back of his head.

"Yeah but you're the best person to ask" another random student now commented, making the silver haired man raise a brow in disbelief.

"Especially with all those dirty books you read" Naruto now commented, catching the teacher off guard and making the class erupt in giggles.

"That's not up for discussion" Kakashi-sensei now said holding his hands up to stop the commotion, but he could feel the nervous pit in his stomach as he watched Sai raise his hand again.

"Who do you think would be the best person to ask?" Sai now asked quieting the class as they all waited for Kakashi's response.

"Your parents" he replied in a monotone voice.

"But why can't you tell us?" Sai now countered, making the teacher release a nervous sigh.

"Guys usually there'd be a Sex-Ed class for these things but since there's not maybe you should ask your health teacher" Kakashi-sensei suggested, hoping to end the conversation.

"You really want us to ask Bushier brow-sensei about this?" Naruto now asked with a tone of disbelief.

"Better him than me" Kakashi-sensei replied turning to the board to try to begin the lesson.

"But sensei we want to hear from someone with more expertise" Naruto now said making Kakashi freeze.

'Are they implying our teacher is a man whore?' Natsumi thought as a red blush crept across her face, and once again the class quieted to wait for the teacher's response.

"I'm sure Guy can handle this topic" Kakashi now said with a halfhearted smile.

"Kakashi-sensei you shouldn't tell such blatant lies" Sai now said calling out the silver haired man's false smile, and making him stiffen.

"Yeah Kakashi-sensei, we all know that Guy-sensei is just going to go on a rant about youth and that message could be translated a number of ways and give us the impression to have unprotected sex" Sakura now reasoned out, making Kakashi's eyes widen, as his head turned to her direction.

"Yeah the 'power of youth' thing might make us want to experience youth to the fullest" Naruto now agreed, catching Kakashi's attention as his head now turned to the blonde.

Natsumi's eyes were now wide as saucers as she too gave Naruto a look of disbelief, something about this was odd, but upon receiving a wink from the blonde, it all started falling into place.

'They're just messing with Kakashi-sensei to waste time' the girl thought turning to look at the nervous expression the usually cool teacher now wore.

"Yeah we're still highly impressionable and you should be more concerned about our wellbeing" Ino now commented, followed by various agreements.

"Don't you have anything to say Kakashi-sensei?" Naruto now asked, casing their teacher to fall back in the chair of his desk.

"Wrap it before you tap it" the man responded dejectedly now avoiding eye contact with his class.

"What are we wrapping and what is it we're tapping?" Sai now asked raising his hand again, causing the class to erupt in laughter.

"We're starting the lesson!" Kakashi suddenly said springing up and beginning to write on the board as the class now chorused in groans.

'They almost had me for a second' the silver haired man thought turning back to look upon the faces of his students, that busily wrote down the information he presented. 'It's nice to see the class working so well together but it would be better if it was more focused on the actual subject' the man continued on in thought releasing an exhausted sigh.

Hinata couldn't hold back the laughter that escaped her as Natsumi told her about the events that had taken place during the last class period.

"Oh poor Kakashi-sensei" Hinata replied, wiping away a tear from laughing so hard.

"I feel like it could have been much worst" Natsumi responded shrugging her shoulders as the two ran their laps. "Actually I have a question" the dark haired girl continued, remembering the events before Sai's abrupt interruption from the previous class.

"What's wrong?" Hinata asked, noting the change in mood from her friend.

"What can you tell me about Sasuke's brother?" Natsumi asked nervously shifting her eyes towards Sasuke's figure running up ahead.

"Uh Itachi?" Hinata asked, catching Natsumi's attention as she turned to meet Hinata's pale purple hues.

"Itachi?" Natsumi repeated, watching as Hinata nodded in approval.

"Yeah he's a few years older than us. He's very nice and he's very busy. He's first in line to take over the Uchiha Company and he's been doing all kinds of internships with our school and their company." the Hyuga further explained.

'That explains why all the senior girls talked about him' Natsumi thought.

"Why do you ask?" Hinata asked curiously looking to Natsumi.

"I just heard some of the girls in my art class mention him" Natsumi responded waving off the subject with a smile, before the girls caught sight of their teacher catching up to lap them, and immediately picking up the pace to avoid him.

It went on like this for a while, until Guy-sensei did eventually catch up to the two, but offered no usual rant as they noticed he was currently enthralled in encouraging Lee to challenge Neji to a race of youth. Which gave the girl's a slight reprieve as they laughed lightly at the sight and finished their remaining laps in discussion over less mundane topics.

'I wonder what Sasuke's house will be like?' Natsumi thought.
