In the usual Watering Hole that Basi and his pod of hippos were bathing and relaxing in, the hippo family were meeting Adewale, who was still with the Lion pride, and the wise old baboon, Rafiki. Most of the hippos were a little afraid of Adewale at first, like most animals that were meeting him for the first time. Of course, he had little to worry about, since be got on well with a crash of white rhinos, and a pack of painted dogs, he might hit it off with Basi, Beshte, and his family.
Hippos and rhinos of course, were different animals, and they had different ways of life. Emela-Ntouka also had a mind different from hippos. Still, everyone had to follow the Circle of life, and they had to follow the laws of it from going out of balance, unless am animal wants it to he like the way Scar was when he was the usurper king.
While most animals followed that golden rule, there were some, who did not, and do not believe in the Circle of Life, not even caring about the disastrous results of what would happen if it was broken somehow. Basi and Adewale Adewale weren't really fighting or bickering, but they didn't exactly smile at first, but they were rather having a good time a few minutes after.
"well, you're quite intriguing." Basi said.
Meanwhile, Kion and Beshte were watching as the two mammals were having a nice talk and conversation in exchange. "I think this is going well, Kion." Beshte admitted. "I mean, I didn't think dad and this guy wouldn't get along."
"Heh. Me neither," the prince admitted. "I actually think that they wouldn't get along at first either. But still, I am glad that they are talking and not fighting."
"And I've never seen an Emela-Ntouka before." Beshte added. "I've heard tales about them from birds on my back, but I never thought they would actually exist."
"Well, it's like that because Emela-Ntouka are very rare, and prefer to stay in their home. I kinda feel sorry for Adewale and his whole group. I hope that he and his kind were almost wiped put to extinction because of animals judging them before knowing them."
"Nah. Maybe Renderpest. That wiped out another pod of hippos a long time ago, ten years before I was born. Renderpest can kill an entire group of animals if it spreads like fire."
"Huh. Never heard of that before. An entire disease like that wiping out an entire herd of animals? Who would thought it. How do you know about it?"
"My great, great, great, great grandparents were victim of renderpest. My grandpa told me about it, and my dad told me about it months ago. It... only happens to hoofed mammals or herbivores most of the time. But, you don't need to worry about it. It is very, very, very rare. Besides, it hasn't hit any animal for many generations now. Probably about... a hundred years or more than that. It's as rare as the chance of Mt. Kilimanjaro erupting again."
Kion made a small laugh before saying: "yeah. You're probably right. I should worry about that. What I should worry about: is the Lion's Bane that attacked me a few hours ago."
"What? They came back?" Beshte sounded berh surprised. "I should warn the others about this."
"Yeah, but, that's when Adewale came and saved me. I wouldn't still he alive if not for him. They were all pretty scared when they saw him and his menacing horn."
"Yeah, I bet. Look at this guy, he looks so tough. He would make most rhinos lool like antelopes with that horn. Still, we should do something about the Lion's Bane trying to kill us again."
"It's nor really us, Beshte. They just want mostly me."
"If they wan to try and kill my best friend, they will have to do it over my cold, dead body. I'll even fight till my last breath in trying to stop them from killing you."
"Thanks, Beshte." Kion remarked gratefully. "For now, I think this is going pretty well for Adewale. Him and your dad are slowly starting to get along. Though, he and Chikelu got along wwybbetter than this."
"Maybe because they are similar a little?" Beshte asked.
"Yeah, maybe. Not that similar, but they are huge. I can see why he is called an Elephant Killer in the first place."
"Well, look at the Elephant Killer now, Kion." Beshte smiled, looking at Adewale and the call's father talking with one another." Yes, these two are starting to hit it off more and more every second they were interacting.
"Heh. So Draak was once a part of your pod?" Adewale said.
"He used to be, yes." Basi admitted. "Until he tried to overthrow and kill me and claim my pod for himself. I won, obviously, and I banished him from my family. He was quite a dangerous, and aggressive hippo to reckon with."
"Good thing I was there to save Kion, and his sister, and brother-in-law. If not for me, tbeg would have probably been killed, and have their bodies fed to the vultures in the sky."
Basi made a small chuckle. "It makes me happy to hear my old adversary has been defeated and disgraced again. He had utter disregard for animal life around him. I hope that Kion, Kiara, and Kovu haven't been badly injured by those lowlifes."
"No." Kovu reassured. "We got some bruised and scratches, but nothing too bad."
"Yeah. Thanks to Adewale, we're still alive."
"I am certain that those cutthroats will think twice before trying to murder innocent animals out here."
"That's... what I'm worried about." Simba admitted. "They will get smarter, and might make a more crafty plan to kill my own son."
"They did almost kill him, and our daughter." Nala pointed.
"And they almost killed me too." Zazu added. "Just look at my poor wing! I won't be able to fly with these for about a week or two! Or even three weeks!"
"Calm down, Zazu." Vitani sighed. "Don't get your banana beak in a bunch."
"Oh, why does everyone keep calling my that name? My beak looks absolutely nothing like a banana."
"Easy Zazu." said Kovu. "We need to just figure out a way to fight back and make sure they never mess with us again."
Kion and Beshte went up to ybr group talking, and the cub stated: "they might never stop trying to kill me. They are not like Janja or Reirei. They are way worse and way more cunning and sneaky."
"Who are Janja and Reirei?" Asked Adewale.
"A hyena and a Jackal that are annoying and are enemies of mine. Not as dangerous as the Lion's Bane, but still dangerous." he heard some voices in the distance and he heard a familiar voice talking with two other animals. "Wait, what's that?"
"Come on Janja." said Cheezi. "We've done this many times. Kion does the Roar at us, and we always lose."
"Yeah, maybe we should just go back." Chungu added
"Guys, relax. We can't just give up on finding food for ourselves just because of a group of stupid, idiotic, snot-nosed, annoying, pesky kids playing dress-up in the Lion Guard's legacy."
"Can you run that by me again, Janja?" Kion went up to them, looking tough and ready to fight them as usual.
"You heard me, twerp." Janja mockingly sneered at him "I see you're alone as well. Well, that Beshte is with ya, but you're outnumbered, three to two." It was just then Adewale came to the kids' aid and looked down on them, letting out a breath from his nostrils.
Poor Janja and his cronies never looked so scared in their lives and they were in for some trouble.
