Best Friend's Brother 4
Disclaimer: I do not under any circumstances own Naruto or any characters used aside from my OC.
After the events of the day, Natsumi wore a tired expression as she waited for Sasuke at the front of the school. She carelessly leaned against the wall outside the building, taking a moment to look towards the sky and let her mind wonder.
"Hey Natsumi!" an all too familiar voice rang out bringing the girl out of her daze.
"Naruto!" she said acknowledging the blonde that bounded up to her.
"What are you doing?" he asked leaning against the building beside the young girl, with his usual wide smile.
"Just waiting on Sasuke so we can finish our presentation" the girl replied running a hand through her locks.
"Oh are you guys gonna get the library shut down again?" the blonde joked raising his brows at the girl who's only reply was a stoic expression.
"We're supposed to go to his house to work on it" Natsumi stated with an unchanging expression as she watched Naruto's face change to that of astonishment.
"What? No way!" the boy exclaimed loudly, making the dark haired girl jump in surprise at his outburst.
"What's wrong?" Natsumi asked in alarm raising her hands to calm the young man, who further surprised her when he turned to her and grabbed her firmly by the shoulders.
"You're going to Sasuke's house!" Naruto exclaimed as if that justified his outburst.
"Hey dobe what are you doing to Natsumi?" Sasuke then asked approaching the pair with an eyebrow rose in question of Naruto's hold on the young girl.
"Sasuke!" Naruto exclaimed turning around while keeping his grip on Natsumi, to look over at the black haired male.
"What is it?" the Uchiha asked looking at the intense excitement radiating off Naruto and the startled expression worn by the girl with brown eyes.
"You're taking Natsumi to your house!" Naruto said still with his hands grasped upon the young girl.
"Yeah so what?" Sasuke asked letting his stoic expression return to his face.
"Why wasn't I invited?" Naruto asked dramatically with his grip still on Natsumi.
"I have a question" Natsumi suddenly asked leaning to the side to catch the attention of both boys.
"What?" both boys asked looking at the girl.
"Can you let me go?" she asked looking directly to the blonde that held her. Naruto immediately released Natsumi before giving her a sheepish smile as he scratched the back of his head.
"Sorry" the blonde apologized.
"Anyways what's the big deal with Sasuke's house?" Natsumi asked adjusting the strap of her bag on her shoulder as she looked between the two boys.
"Sasuke's house is the best!" the blonde stated excitedly. "We could go swimming, we play games, we eat …" Naruto began to list, before being cut off by Sasuke.
"We are running late" the black haired boy said now taking hold of Natsumi by the hand and pulling her away from the blonde boy beside her.
"Wait!" Naruto exclaimed as he watched Sasuke pull away the young girl to lead her to his car. "Why wasn't I invited?!" Naruto yelled after the pair.
"You're annoying!" Sasuke called back in reply over his shoulder.
"Sasuke, Mikoto-ma probably misses me!" Naruto called as he watched the young teens continue to venture toward the parking lot.
"Stop calling her that!" Sasuke yelled back, making the blonde slump his shoulders in defeat.
"You guys really know how to gather a crowd" Natsumi commented looking toward the mass of afterschool traffic that had stopped to watch Sasuke and Naruto yell. The black haired young man simply rolled his eyes in response before halting in front of a black car that Natsumi could only assume was his.
This was only confirmed when she watched the black haired boy release her hand to take his keys out of his pocket to unlock the vehicle. He nodded at her to get in, to which she complied. Sliding into the car she noted the dark leather interior and the scent of all around clean. She quickly pulled on her seat belt, and proceeded to examine the car.
'He's really clean' Natsumi noted looking around, just before Sasuke entered the car and proceeded to start it.
The car ride to his house wasn't terribly long, but it was a ways from the school. The pair had gone a while in silence before Natsumi decided to speak.
"So do you not like music?" the girl curiously asked looking over the boy, who remained stoic as usual with his eyes focused on the road.
"You can connect your phone if you want" Sasuke offered taking a moment to glance at the dark haired girl beside him.
"Ok" Natsumi replied taking out her phone from her pocket before starting to connect her phone to his car's Bluetooth.
"No love songs" Sasuke then said abruptly, causing Natsumi to give him a questionable look.
"Why?" the girl asked catching the boy's eye. He released a deep sigh before he turned on the radio.
"And here we have another love song request going out to Sasuke fro-" the radio announcer began before the Uchiha turned off the radio and raised his brows at Natsumi.
"Ah yes the fan club" Natsumi stated knowingly, earning an eye roll from the boy. "Well I should warn you that my music selection is a little adverse" she continued, making Sasuke raise a brow at the girl.
He was only met with a closed eyed smile as he looked to her. Natsumi confidently pushed play and waited for the Uchiha to react as the music began. He listened as the immediate playing of guitars filled his ears, followed by the voice of the male lead singer and the tempo picked up, including the other instruments. He'd heard music like this before but he couldn't place it now as a look of perplexing crossed his face.
"What is this?" Sasuke asked returning his attention to the road.
"A Love like War by All Time Low" Natsumi answered simply.
"I didn't peg you to listen to this kind of music" Sasuke replied taking in the song.
"I listen to all kinds of music" the girl replied looking out the window, before continuing. "My playlist ranges from punk rock, to early 2000's r&b, to Disney music, to k-pop to pretty much anything" the girl explained.
"Hn" Sasuke responded in understanding, as the two continued on listening to the music in silence.
When they had arrived at the destination, Natsumi found herself in awe as the pair pulled up to a pair of large double gates surrounding a massive grassy property with a huge driveway leading to the house. The Uchiha household was a huge 2-story ivory colored house with large windows and two large circular red/white symbols she could only assume to be the family crest on a either side of the huge doorway.
Sasuke pulled in closer to the building and pushed a button above him in the car, prompting the garage door to open revealing a silver car and space enough for more vehicles. Stepping out of the car, Sasuke led the duo back out of the still open garage door and to the front of the house. They walked up the steps and upon entering, the young girl was amazed by the grand foyer with its marble tile floors, high ceiling, enormous glass chandelier, and a small coat closet off to the side as well as an area for shoes. As the teens began to take of their shoes and school jackets, a few shuffling noises were heard from further inside the home.
"Sasuke is that you dear?" the voice of a women called out, and then followed further by the sounds of what sounded like pots and pans being moved.
"Yeah mom we just got in" Sasuke yelled back as he motioned for Natsumi to follow him.
The room he brought her to was massive, showing the second story ceiling, walls painted in a light grey color, the couch was a huge darker grey sectional with a large matching ottoman. The tile floors were replaced with black smooth wooden floor boards that were so glossy that they perfectly reflected the sunlight coming in from the three tall windows which had tall white curtains drawn back. The entire room was beautiful as it had the theme of black, white and grey colors, although the floor was a dark contrast it had a large grey rug beneath the ottoman, as well as white fluffy square pillows decorating the couch in various areas. The walls had minimal décor, except for the empty black and white picture frames placed in a pattern of black then white. Yet even with this entire stunning ambiance, the main attraction was the black entertainment center housing a large flat screen TV and various shelves with different councils and a receiver box.
"Wow" the girl commented letting her eyes wander around the room more as the pair sat on the couch. It was then she noticed the drawer built into the ottoman in front of her. Taking notice to where Natsumi was looking, Sasuke reached down and opened the drawer revealing a few house decorating magazines and the various remotes.
"Feeding an army?" Natsumi commented raising a brow as she looked over the many options on the tray with snacks such as said hot wings, chips, dip, pizza rolls, and one stick of sweet dumplings from a small table beside the couch that she'd not noticed before.
"My mom always makes extra for Naruto" Sasuke responded placing the tray down in front of the two teens, on the ottoman.
"But Naruto's not here" Natsumi said picking up a wing and beginning to eat.
"She doesn't know yet" Sasuke replied earning a stoic expression from the dark haired young girl.
"Ok boys we have fresh lemonade!" A woman with long black hair parted down the middle with a light complexion and a kind closed eyed smile said walking into the room wearing a white long sleeve with a long black maxi skirt, and carrying in two glasses of lemonade. Natsumi found the woman to be beautiful and poised with how she carried herself. As she walked over, she carefully set down the two glasses on the tray and began to open her eyes, revealing a set of beautiful onyx eyes that were exactly like Sasuke's. Yet when the woman's eyes met with Natsumi's brown hues, a look of shock crossed her face.
"A girl!" the woman exclaimed standing up straight abruptly and making Natsumi jump in surprise.
"H-hi" Natsumi said bringing her hands to the middle of her chest to calm her beating heart rate.
"Oh I-I'm so sorry dear" the woman said in a more gentle voice, taking hold of the young girl's hands as she seated herself between the girl and her son. "I didn't mean to startle you, but my little Sasuke hasn't brought home a girl before. Up until now he's only brought Naruto over." The women explained, catching her son's attention at the mention of the blonde.
"Mom" Sasuke said in a tone of embarrassment, only to earn a reaction of the woman simply waving him off in a dismissive way.
"I'm sorry I'm being so rude. I'm Mikoto Uchiha and I'm Sasuke's mother." The woman introduced herself with a kind smile as she squeezed the teen girl's hands.
"It's nice to meet you Mrs. Uchiha, my name is Natsumi Nakamaru and I'm-" the girl began before being cut off.
"Classmate" Sasuke said.
"Classmate?" Mikoto asked turning to look at her son with her brows raised.
"Yes" both teens responded in unison.
"I thought Natsumi was your girlfriend" Mikoto said dejectedly, alarming both teens as both had shocked expressions on their faces.
"No" both teens said in unison again.
"Oh I-I'm sorry" the woman stated bringing her hands to her mouth in embarrassment.
"Natsumi's only here so we can work on a presentation" Sasuke explained.
"What's the presentation about?" Mikoto asked looking between the two teens.
"An introduction of each other that's more detailed than just our names" Natsumi replied.
"Oh I have the perfect thing to help!" Mikoto said standing up excitedly and exciting the room hurriedly. The teens exchanged worried looks before the women rushed back in holding two large light blue binders like books, which caused a look of utter horror to cross Sasuke's face.
"What's that?" Natsumi asked as the woman sat between the teens yet again and started laying out the books on the ottoman.
"What better way to get to know Sasuke than looking through his baby pictures!" Mikoto said opening one of the books onto Natsumi's lap revealing a picture of baby Sasuke.
The black haired teen found himself paling under the circumstances in the room as his mom flipped through the pages showing the various pictures of him.
"Oh he's so cute!" Natsumi cued along with his mother, further mortifying the young man.
"Here he is in the tub, and here he is taking off his diaper by himself, and –"Mikoto said pointing at different pictures, making Sasuke jump to place a hand over the page before anything else could be said.
"Sasuke!" his mother exclaimed turning to the boy, who wore a frustrated look with a slight blush across his face.
"Oh Sasuke you were such a happy baby what happened?" Natsumi asked taking her hand over his and pushing it to the side to point at a picture of him as a baby sitting up smiling with his gums while clutching a stuffed duck. "Is this what inspired your hair style?" the girl asked playfully letting a coy smile play onto her lips, as Sasuke glared at her.
"Sasuke don't be shy" Mikoto placing a caring hand on the boy's cheek. "Natsumi seeing you naked as a baby is no big deal … if it's now then that's a different story" The woman joked with a closed eyed smile making the teens raise their brows in astonishment.
"No more baby pictures!" Sasuke stated trying to close the book, before being stopped by his mother.
"Oh fine, no more naked pictures then" Mikoto said pushing her son away, who only sighed in defeat. He then proceeded to take out a notebook and pen to start rewriting the notes from their questions from earlier.
'This is going to take a while' the Uchiha thought rolling his eyes as he watched his mother move onto another book.
"Oh this one is one of my favorites" Mikoto said placing a hand over her heart as the other grasped Natsumi's. "This was the first time Itachi held Sasuke" the woman said releasing the girl's hand to point to young boy about 4 years old with short black hair that messily fell into his innocent onyx eyes as he smiled happily to the camera while holding the infant Sasuke.
"Itachi" the young girl repeated looking over the picture in wonder as her thoughts traveled back to all she'd heard about the young man from that day.
"He's my oldest son, Sasuke has always been closest to him since he was a baby and it's the sweetest thing" Mikoto explained.
"Oh" Natsumi said nodding in understanding.
"I wish he were here, he would have been perfect to help you learn more about Sasuke" Mikoto said with a far off look on her face.
"Where is he?" Natsumi asked curiously, earning a sideways look from Sasuke.
"My husband had him head one of our smaller branch companies over the summer to get in some experience. He and my husband should be returning soon so Itachi can attend his business classes at the local university." Mikoto explained.
"Oh that's really impressive" Natsumi commented.
"Are you guys done with the pictures yet?" Sasuke asked with irritation evident in his voice.
'What's his problem?' Natsumi thought raising a brow at the boy's sudden attitude.
"Oh dear I'm sorry I didn't mean to get off topic" Mikoto apologized, ignoring the tone in Sasuke's voice.
"Oh no it's ok" Natsumi said with a light smile.
"Sasuke why don't you give Natsumi a tour of the house?" the boy's mother suggested, standing up with the books.
"Yes mother" Sasuke replied releasing a sigh as he put his things to the side and stood to stretch.
"I'm going to start dinner" Mikoto announced walking off from the teens.
'Itachi seems like a touchy subject to Sasuke, even if they are close" Natsumi noted as she stood and began to follow Sasuke as he led the pair out of the living room.
The teens walked down the large hallway in silence until approaching a large opening.
"This is the dining room" Sasuke announced as the teens entered the large maroon colored room with a huge black dinette set. The table was long with room enough for 10 or more people.
"Impressive" the girl commented looking at the many chairs. "How big is your family?" she asked turning to the boy with a curious expression.
"My father, my mother, Itachi, and I" Sasuke responded beginning to walk out of the room and beckoning the girl to follow. In doing so, they entered the large white kitchen to find his mother happily cutting vegetables.
"Hello again" the woman commented before returning to work.
Natsumi was in awe of the room with its marble counter tops, white cupboards and drawers, as well as the black kitchen appliances, and the large white tiles.
"This kitchen is gorgeous" Natsumi complimented earning a simple 'Hn' from Sasuke and a smile from Mikoto.
The teens then exited the room, going through a variety of other rooms downstairs such as a game room, a library, an in home theater, three bathrooms, and finally a music room.
"This is the music room" Sasuke said as they entered the pale grey room.
"Wow" Natsumi commented looking at the many instruments, they had several guitars lining the walls hung on racks; a massive dark case housing trumpets, clarinets, and flutes; a cello stood in the corner; next to that a violin in a glass case; a drum set in another corner; and finally at the center of the room a grand black piano.
"Hn" Sasuke stated leaning onto the piano as Natsumi wandered the room.
"Can you play every instrument in this room?" the girl asked looking to the boy with his arms folded.
"Nearly" Sasuke responded honestly. "Itachi can play every single one, but I mainly specialize in guitar and the piano" he further explained, as Natsumi nodded in understanding.
"Wow he can play every single one" Natsumi said looking around again. "But that's still really cool that you're able to play the guitar and piano" the girl said as she sensed an impending glare from the boy's onyx eyes.
'Really you're the one that brought him up?' Natsumi thought sighing as she looked away from Sasuke.
"Can you play something?" Natsumi asked looking back to Sasuke to change the subject. The boy then stood abruptly from his position leaning against the piano and walked over to sit on its bench to begin playing. The melody was soft and calming, making Natsumi feel at ease as she looked over to see the focused look that played onto his face. Sasuke continued on for a while until he drew his song to a close, looking at the girl expectantly.
"Well?" the Uchiha asked.
"What do you mean well?" Natsumi asked raising a brow at the young man.
"You could applaud or at least compliment it" Sasuke said with a stoic expression, looking at the girl.
"Cocky much?" Natsumi replied rolling her eyes before sitting beside him on the bench.
"You're saying you could have done better?" he asked raising a brow at the girl.
"N-No I didn't say that, I was going to say 'Good job' until you had to get a big head about it" Natsumi replied in an annoyed tone.
"Whatever" Sasuke said letting his fingers fall back to the keys, as Natsumi watched him play.
The teens were silent until Sasuke finished his second song, and Mikoto entered the room.
"Sasuke dinner is going to ready soon, does Natsumi want to stay?" the woman said with a smile.
Sasuke simply turned to said girl, as he waited for a response.
"I'll call my mom to let her know" Natsumi said.
"Ok" Mikoto said. "How do you like the tour so far?" she asked curiously.
"You have a beautiful home Mrs. Uchiha" Natsumi complimented.
"Natsumi I told you its Mikoto" the woman corrected, earning a smile from the teen girl.
"We're just about finished" Sasuke commented turning to his mother.
"Oh yeah? Did you show her the pool or the upstairs rooms?" Mikoto asked doubtfully as she read the look on her son's face. Releasing a sigh, Sasuke stood as he grasped Natsumi's wrist and led her out to the back yard. It was here, the young girl saw the massive porch with stairs leading down to a large green yard with many trees and a huge deep pool with a diving board and a hot tub off to the side.
"Cool" Natsumi commented looking around before following Sasuke back into the house. The teens stopped in the living room to gather their things, and allow Natsumi to call her mother. The phone rang for a while before the girl received the answering machine's dial tone, making a sigh escape her lips and the dark haired boy look at her with a questionable expression.
"Hey mom it's me. I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to be staying over at Sasuke Uchiha's house for dinner tonight, so don't worry about me, but make sure to eat something. Love you." Natsumi spoke into the machine, before hanging up and placing a fake smile onto her face.
'Guess she's too busy with work again' Natsumi thought trying not to let it bother her as she turned to face Sasuke, who simply looked over the young girl with his same stoic expression as he analyzed her.
'She's upset about something' Sasuke thought turning to lead the pair up the staircase, as he noted Natsumi's silence.-
"The other stairway leads to my father's personal study and my parent's room" Sasuke explained as the teens climbed. "This one leads to the guest room, Itachi's room, and my room" he continued as they reached the top and he led the pair to a door which she assumed to be his.
Entering the room, Natsumi was amazed at its size. It was large with plain white walls and three tall windows taking up most of the space from the right side wall. The next wall had the family crest painted largely above the queen sized navy blue bed, then off to the side a TV was mounted on the other wall, with a small grey couch in front of it. Next to where the TV was, was a door leading to a bathroom, and in the far corner closest to the entrance was what Natsumi assumed to be a closet.
"We should try to finish before diner" Sasuke stated as he entered and motioned for the girl to sit beside him on the couch. Natsumi didn't waste time in doing so, as she sat and pulled out a notebook from her bag.
"Ok your turn for questions" she said readying a pen as Sasuke leaned back and nodded in understanding.
"What else do you need to know?" Sasuke asked.
"I would like to know more than the basics that everyone does" Natsumi replied.
"Hn" he responded placing his hands behind his head.
"Favorite color?"
"What?"
"Oh come on just answer the question"
"Ask something better"
"Fine." Natsumi replied with an annoyed huff. "Hopes? Dreams? Likes and dislikes?"
"I don't like a lot of things, but I do dislike many things. As for dreams, I have none because I have goals that I intend to make real" he stated simply.
"Ok drama queen" Natsumi responded rolling her eyes at the young man's response, to only earn a glare in return.
"Why were you upset earlier when you left that message for your mother?" Sasuke suddenly asked making Natsumi's eyes widen.
"W-what do you mean?" the girl responded, obviously astounded by the question.
"You know what I mean" the boy stated simply making the girl stiffen. Natsumi released a large sigh before turning her head away from Sasuke's gaze.
"My mother works a lot and sometimes it seems like I hardly see her" she answered.
"My father's the same way" Sasuke said, causing the girl to turn back to meet his onyx eyes. "Does it bother you?" he now asked.
"I guess I'm just not used to seeing so little of her" Natsumi replied truthfully. "Before her and my father worked under the same company and they didn't require her to travel so much, but now this new company has her closing deals almost weekly." She continued as Sasuke nodded in understanding.
"Do you miss your father?" the Uchiha asked curiously, immediately making the girl shake her head in response.
"I'm pretty much used to not seeing him because of work, but my mom is different" she replied with a sigh.
"I understand that, my mom is always around except when she goes on get a ways with my father" Sasuke said nodding in understanding.
"That's nice" Natsumi said beginning to twirl the pen in between her fingers.
"What's your father like?" Sasuke asked, causing the girl to cease her actions abruptly.
"He's very hard working" she began cautiously, making Sasuke shift in his seat to face her more. "So much so that his work is his top priority" she finished.
"And his family?" Sasuke asked making the girl shift uncomfortably in her seat as she averted to gaze away from him at the mention of this question.
"Work is his top priority above all else" she managed to say letting her eyes fall to the wall.
"Hn" Sasuke said noting the change in her body language.
"What about you?" Natsumi asked, turning to face Sasuke again.
"My father is a serious man. He's both hardworking when it comes to his company and caring when it comes to his family" Sasuke explained letting his eyes wander away from Natsumi. "He and my mother have always been compassionate and he's always encouraged Itachi" he went on, with Natsumi noticing how he clenched his fist towards the end.
"Wow your parents have nothing but boys" Natsumi stated awkwardly trying to change the subject.
"Yeah and you're an only child" Sasuke stated raising a brow at Natsumi.
"Yeah" Natsumi replied looking away awkwardly as silence befell the teens. It seemed like it would last forever, until it was interrupted by the sound of Natsumi's phone receiving a text. She immediately opened it, earning a look of curiosity from the Uchiha.
"Everything ok?" he asked.
"Yeah my mom just wanted to let me know its ok because she's working late and it would've been take out anyways" the girl said alluding to dinner.
"Hn" the boy said in acknowledgment.
"Hey Sasuke" Natsumi suddenly said, making the young man turn to meet her gaze. "What's your favorite color?" the girl asked reiterating her previous question, making the boy roll his eyes.
"Blue" he answered in a bored tone, as she started writing.
"Best friend?" she asked, noticing the look of confusion fall onto his face.
"Naruto" he stated after a while, but quickly placed a hand over Natsumi's to stop her from writing it down. "But he doesn't need to know because the dobe doesn't need the ego boost" Sasuke explained making the girl give him a questionable look.
"Ok … favorite dessert?" she now asked.
"I don't like sweets" Sasuke immediately responded making the girl raise a brow.
"Are you allergic?" she asked in wonder.
"No just don't like them" he answered shrugging his shoulders.
"Hn that's weird" Natsumi commented beginning to write again.
"It is not" Sasuke said.
"Yeah it is but we're not going to get into that now" Natsumi said raising her brows as she continued to write.
"Oh yeah and what about you?" he asked raising a brow at the young girl, who immediately looked up to meet the gaze of his onyx eyes.
"I like everything sweet especially dango" she immediately replied shrugging her shoulders, making the boy scoff as looked away from her.
"Just like Itachi" Sasuke mumbled under his breath, hoping the girl did not hear, but she did.
"What?" Natsumi questioned leaning toward the boy with her brows raised in question.
"Nothing" Sasuke immediately responded, making the girl huff in annoyance.
'Again with Itachi, when he's the one who brought him up' Natsumi thought looking over Sasuke.
"What?" the boy asked in an irritated tone as he noticed the perplexing look she gave him.
"N-nothing" Natsumi responded shaking her head in dismissal. "Anyways I have another question that leads into another topic" she stated, causing the young man in raise a brow in question.
"And that is?" he asked letting his curiosity get the best of him.
"I'm really the only girl you've ever brought home?" Natsumi asked.
"Yes" Sasuke answered wearily, suspicious of the direction she was steering the conversation.
"So up until now you've only brought Naruto over?" Natsumi asked slowly.
"So what?" Sasuke asked narrowing his eyes at the dark haired girl next to him.
"Are and Naruto … you know-" the young girl began before a small couch pillow hit her in the face, interrupting her.
"Stop" Sasuke said obviously angered by the direction of her questions.
"It's just your mom made it seem like you might not be all that into … well not Naruto" the girl went on holding up her hands as she slowly explained.
"I'm not with Naruto" Sasuke stated glaring at the young girl who could only offer him an awkward smile.
"So Naruto likes girls?" Natsumi asked suddenly with a serious tone.
"Yes Naruto likes girls" Sasuke answered studying the look on Natsumi's face as she took in the information.
'That's good for Hinata, for a second Sasuke's mom had me worried' the girl thought letting her mind wonder to her quiet friend and the loud blonde.
"Well?" Sasuke's voice suddenly rang out as he moved closer to the teen girl, waving a hand in front of her face, to regain her attention.
"What?" Natsumi asked turning to look at the onyx eyed boy.
"You're questions aren't supposed to be about the dobe" Sasuke stated obviously annoyed.
"Oh yeah sorry" Natsumi said with a closed eyed smile as she casually scratched the back of her neck.
"You really are annoying" he stated, making the girl glare at him, he simply stared back both willing the other to look away first in an unspoken staring contest, just as his mother suddenly emerged into the room.
"Uh I'm sorry I should've knocked" the woman said with a confused look taking over her features and making her son scoot away from Natsumi, who tried her best to stifle a laugh at how fast he moved to look away from her.
"No" both teens replied waving off the subject, making a smile cross the woman's features again.
"Well I just wanted to let you two know dinner is ready" the woman stated with a closed eyed smile, as the teens stood and followed her down to the dining room.
Dinner between the three was nice as Mikoto used the time to graciously answer all questions Natsumi had, much to the disdain of her son. In the time allotted for the meal, Natsumi was able to learn a lot about the young man as his mother shared more information than he cared to share. Natsumi was able to find out Sasuke had wanted to go into business much like his father, was a dog lover, had his first kiss with Naruto, and admired his older brother most. Sasuke was a mix of anger and embarrassment by the end of the meal, while the two females were only laughs and smiles. Afterwards, Natsumi had offered to help Mikoto with the cleanup but, the woman declined as she had wanted the teens to finish their work. So the teens nodded, quickly making their way back up the stairs and into Sasuke's room.
"Shut up" Sasuke immediately said as he had shut the door and Natsumi smiled brightly at him.
"So your first kiss was with Naruto" the girl stated in a sing song voice, making the boy shudder at the memory.
"Shut up" he said once again as he walked to his bed and threw a pillow at the young girl, who simply laughed as she dodged it.
"I'm only kidding" the girl said with a playful smile as she picked up the pillow and tossed it back to the boy who now sat on his bed. "Actually I want to ask you something else" she continued walking to the bed and sitting at the foot, and looking at the boy.
"I think you've asked enough questions for the presentation" Sasuke said raising a brow at the girl.
"This isn't for the presentation" Natsumi said truthfully, further intriguing the young man.
"Fine" he stated letting his curiosity get the best of him.
"Your mom kept mentioning how close you are to your brother, but whenever he gets brought up, you don't seem happy" Natsumi began slowly, taking notice as a scowl found its way to Sasuke's face.
"Get to the point" the boy stated with irritation evident in his tone, making the young girl jump slightly.
"Well why?" she immediately asked, as she noticed a look of concentration cross Sasuke's face as he debated his answer. He seemed to be taking his time processing the question and what he might want to say, making Natsumi nervous as silence encompassed the teens.
"Itachi has always been perfect in my father's eyes. He skipped a few grades and was able to graduate early. He excels in all he does, whether it is in his studies or his own personal hobbies. He's always receiving such praise for everything. Meanwhile he's setting the bar so high that I'm left trying to play catch up. But no matter how hard I try I'm always second best and never good enough when compared to him" Sasuke explained with a far off look in his eyes. All Natsumi could do was nod in understanding.
'My father is always going on about how proud he is of him and- saying 'that's my boy' when it comes to Itachi, but that's never been the case with me' Sasuke went on in thought, making Natsumi feel as if her stomach was turning with the ongoing silence.
'So Mr. Perfect has his own problems' Natsumi thought looking over Sasuke as a dark aura surrounded him.
"That's really tough" Natsumi admitted as she watched Sasuke fold his hands in his lap.
"It's not important" he said abruptly, as if to brush aside the topic, but was surprised when he felt a hand on his shoulder. Looking to the source, he saw Natsumi offering him a kind half smile as her small hand squeezed his shoulder in comfort.
"You'd never know you were under so much stress" she commented taking her hand back, as Sasuke showed no sign of changing his stoic/upset expression.
"Hn" the black haired male replied, as a silence once again fell over the teens, before Natsumi decided to speak again.
"But I'm still confused about something" Natsumi said, making the boy turn once more to meet the gaze of her brown hues.
"And what's that?" The Uchiha asked.
"Those seem like more reasons to be upset with your father than Itachi" Natsumi reasoned furrowing her brows in confusion as she looked into Sasuke's onyx eyes.
"I understand that, but I'm still going to keep trying to earn his approval. In the meantime though, Itachi is only raising the bar, and making it harder for me" Sasuke explained leaning back into the pillows on his bed as he starred up to the ceiling. Natsumi had no words for him, so she simply hummed in response, before leaning back as well, leaving the teens in silence to stare at nothing.
"We should finish up with writing up the presentation" Sasuke suddenly said interrupting the silence, as Natsumi nodded in agreement before the pair arose from the bed and busied themselves in turning their notes into written speeches.
"What do you have so far?" Natsumi asked curiously ceasing her writing to rub out a cramp in her hand.
"You'll see tomorrow" Sasuke replied not taking his eyes off his paper, making the girl glare at him in response.
"Let me guess I'm still annoying" Natsumi commented, running a hand through her hair and earning a knowing look from Sasuke.
"You learn fast" he commented, before being hit with a pillow and dropping his pencil from his hand. Looking up he was met with a playful smile on Natsumi's face as he had a brow began to twitch in irritation.
"I sure do" the girl said, as she watched Sasuke narrow his eyes at her.
"Well since you interrupted me, what do you have?" the boy asked beginning to reach a hand towards Natsumi's notebook, before being slapped away as the young girl turned away from the boy on coach, clutching her notebook to her chest.
"If you're making me wait until tomorrow, then so are you" the girl shot back, shocking the young man.
"How original" he said sarcastically, as Natsumi simply rolled her eyes, before the two continued on.
"Hey I actually have another question" Natsumi suddenly said, catching the attention of Sasuke as he turned his head to look at the girl.
"Does Naruto have a girlfriend?" she asked making Sasuke scrunch his face in disinterest.
"Do you like the dobe?" he then asked, making Natsumi turn to look at him.
"No I'm just asking" the girl replied with her brows raised.
"Why?" Sasuke then asked curiously.
"I was just wondering" Natsumi said holding up her hands in surrender, as Sasuke focused his full attention on the young girl.
"But why do you want to know?" Sasuke now asked leaning forward to study the young girl's expressions closely.
"For someone who's not with Naruto or says he likes girls, you sure are possessive of him" Natsumi said narrowing her eyes at the boy.
"I just want to know if you like him" Sasuke said abruptly sitting up as Natsumi gave him a look of disbelief.
"Are you sure?" the girl asked with a smirk, making Sasuke glare at her. "I'm kidding" the girl said with a light laugh escaping her, as the boy rolled his eyes.
"I'm being serious Natsumi" Sasuke said in a serious tone.
"No I don't like Naruto" Natsumi replied honestly.
"Then why all the questions?" Sasuke asked.
"Just trying to get an idea on some things" she admitted letting her thoughts wonder to Hinata.
"Are you only asking for Hinata?" Sasuke suddenly asked, making Natsumi snap her head up as her eyes went wide.
"What?" she asked in disbelief, wondering if the Uchiha had been able to read her mind? As she looked at him, she was met with a smirk before the boy decided to answer.
"Everyone knows she likes him" Sasuke said, making Natsumi's eyes widen. "She's liked him forever" he went on further surprising Natsumi as her head dropped to look at the pillow in her lap. "Don't tell me you didn't know the only person who doesn't is the dobe because he's so dense" Sasuke continued to explain as Natsumi processed.
"What do you mean everyone knows?" Natsumi asked looking back up to meet Sasuke's onyx eyes.
"Everyone has figured it out with how often she looks at him or even with how nervous she is around the idiot, but he's the only one that's completely oblivious" Sasuke responded.
"How can everyone figure it out except Naruto?" Natsumi asked in disbelief as she ran a hand through her hair.
"He's an idiot" Sasuke replied as if it was obvious, and in this case Natsumi had no problem in nodding in agreement.
"So Naruto is just completely unaware of any sort of romantic feelings?" Natsumi asked, before earning a long sigh from Sasuke.
"He likes Sakura" Sasuke said, making Natsumi's jaw drop in shock.
"That fucking idiot!" the girl exclaimed holding her head in her hands.
'Poor Hinata' Natsumi thought thinking over the new information she was given.
"The dobe will figure things out eventually" Sasuke said shrugging his shoulders.
"Hn" Natsumi responded with a nod of understanding before the teens returned their attention to their respective notebooks and worked in silence.
Not long after this, the teens had decided to call it a night. They quickly gathered their things before making their way down the stairs and running into Sasuke's mother.
"Oh Natsumi you are welcome back any time, it was a pleasure to have you over" the black haired woman said bringing in the teen girl for a hug, which had caught her off guard, regardless though Natsumi smiled happily as she too wrapped her arms around the woman to return the gesture.
"Thank you for having me over" Natsumi said.
"We have to have you over again to meet my husband and Itachi" the woman said releasing Natsumi from the hug, and earning a polite smile and nod in response.
"I would love to" the girl said, before Mikoto excitedly tightened her grip on the young girl.
"We could have you accompany us to Sunday Brunch when my husband brings Itachi home for the school year!" Mikoto suggested surprising both teens as Natsumi's eyes shot open and Sasuke raised his brows.
"I'd hate to intrude" Natsumi responded honestly, hoping to get out of the invitation, as Sasuke released a sigh of relief.
"Not at all, I'm sure Sasuke would love the company" the woman said, turning to look at her son, who visibly stiffened before he could only nod in agreement dejectedly. "So it's decided, I'll have Sasuke pick you up and meet us there" Mikoto continued planning happily as the teens inwardly groaned.
There were no words between the teens as Sasuke drove Natsumi home. After a while, it was the young black haired girl to break the silence as she began directing Sasuke to her house. Aside from the occasional 'turn here' or 'take a right' Natsumi gave, there was silence until Sasuke pulled up to the front of her house.
It was no mansion like he had, but it wasn't exactly small. It was a large light brown house, with a large driveway leading to the garage. From the front there were many windows and the porch was well lit revealing the white front door.
"You don't have to come Sunday" Sasuke said, nervously clutching the steering wheel of his car.
"It's fine" Natsumi responded making the dark haired boy turn to look at her.
"She's just excited that I have a friend besides Naruto" Sasuke stated looking at the girl with a stoic expression, she had grown used too. Yet instead of a response in agreement like he had expected, Sasuke was surprised when he was met with a smile.
"You said friend" the girl explained as she noticed the confused look Sasuke wore.
"W-well-"he began to try and explain, before being stopped as Natsumi held up a hand to stop him from talking further.
"I don't mind coming, besides my mom is going to be pretty happy that I actually have plans this weekend" Natsumi explained.
"The place we're going has a dress code" Sasuke informed the girl, giving in and accepting that she would come.
"Ok" Natsumi replied as she nodded her head in understanding.
"Are you sure you want to come?" he asked, turning his head to the side in wonder, only to earn an eye roll from the young girl.
"Goodnight Sasuke" she said quickly before making her way out of the car and starting up her driveway. Upon getting to the door and unlocking it, she turned back around and waved the boy off, before entering.
It had been a long eventful day indeed, the teen thought leaning against the door, before making her way to her room and began to prepare herself for the night of much needed rest she would need. Her mind immediately went to homeroom and the presentation that was due, making her stomach turn. She finished her night routine, crawling into her bed, and letting her mind wonder to all the events she'd experienced thus far leading to this presentation. She was nervous, but she was ready. She only hoped that tomorrow would go as smoothly as possible, before she allowed slumber to overtake her and she'd been able to shut her brown eyes as she fell asleep.
'I hope tomorrow is fine' she thought sleepily, before finally drifting off.
