Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu were really scared and surprised by the sight of an Emela Ntouka. Of course they have never seen one before. To them, it looked like a deformed rhino or a freak of nature of some kind. Jania tried his best to be brave, but it didn't really work. "Leave my friend alone poachers." said Adewale threateningly.
The three hyenas made a small whimper like a triplet of scared dogs, and felt like thinning away. "Who and what are you?" Asked Janja
"I am Adewale. A good friend of Kion, and he told me a little bit a bit you and your little clan causing nonstop mayhem and trouble, Janja." the Emela-Ntouka introduced himself. "Why do you do this?:
"Why? Because we're hyenas. We should eat what we want!"
"What Janja said." Cheezu was obviously the one who was most scared of the fight at Adewale. "I mean, please don't hurt us!"
"Yeah! I'm too young to die, rhino!" Chungu added.
"I am no rhino." said the beast. "I may look like one, but i am a completely different species."
"Whatever, doctor science." Janja taunted. "You might be bigger, but I am not scared of ya! Unlike these two knuckleheads on my side!" he tried looking brave again to show his comrades that they needed to fight their enemies too. "I won't let ya get in the way of me trying to kill that stupid, meddlin' cub! You hear me!?"
"So, you are the one that Kion told me about. You hyenas are nothing but a triplet of trouble."
"We take pride in that." said the crazy one of this small group.
"Oh shut up, Cheezi. I don't care how powerful you are, you freak! Come at me with everything you got!"
Adewale simply looked down on the hyena, who was still trying his best to be bold. "You try being brave." he said. "Yet, I can plainly see that you, and your comrades are afraid of my appearance, and how intimidating I look."
"What? That's nonsense! I am Janja, I ain't afraid of nothing!"
"Is that so?" said Adewale. He then grew a smug look on his rhino-like face. "Well, in that case," he took a deep breath, and opened his mouth. He then let out a low, deep and low demonic roar from his throat, a roar so loud, that it was heard for miles and Kion had to cover his ears.
Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu looked on with wode eyes, and there were being blown from the impact of the roar, as if a strong wind was blowing against them all.
As soon as Adewale stopped roaring, the hyenas froze, and Cheezi's right eye began twitching. Yet again, Cheezi was one to twitch his eyes frequently out of nowhere. After three seconds, the three nitwits began yelping and screaming like a triplet of little girls, in funny screams, and tbeh all ran away from Adewale, all the way back to the Outlands.
Kion and Adewale laughed, knowing that they had won against those hyenas. "Heh. They are cowards." The Emela-Ntouka scoffed at Kion's biggest enemies. "I actually thought they would be much more of a challenge, but, it is clear that they were nothing compared to the more sinister Lion's Bane."
"Nope. The Lion's Bane is way more tough and cruel." the cub agreed. "Still, you managed to show those hyenas a thing or two."
Simba, Nala, the rest of the lions, along with Beshte and Basi, came over to see the commottion. "What happened?" said Simba. "We heard this roar."
"Nothing dad." said Kion. "Janja and his friends came, and Adewale scared them away with a roar."
"Ah. Perfect." said Nala. "Those hyenas need to find a new hobby
"Totally." Vitani agreed while rolling his eyes. "They are a bunch of meatheads."
"Either way, they are gone, and I hope they will never come back here after I scared them off." Adewale speculated. "I scared them kid real good, like a little squirrel running away from a cat hunting it."
"I think they will come back." said Kiara. "Those three may be stupid, but they are also relentless.'
"Kiara's right," said Kovu, "they'll come back one of these days."
"Still, they're gone." Kion remarked. "Let's see Reirei try and to stand up to him."
"Hehehehe, I think they would act like a big family of puppies crying for their mommy." said Simba with a chuckle. "Maybe they will think twice before interfering with the Circle of Life with Adewale helping us."
"Forgive me, your majesty," said the Emela-Ntouka. "But I would prefer not to be used as a living weapon for anyone's advantage."
"Oh no no, I didn't mean it like that. I was just joking."
"Ah."
"Well, I think you are an interesting animal, Adewale." said Basi. "You said you can swim, right?"
"I did."
"Perfect. Maybe one of these days, we can graze together and have a talk."
"I would like that. And... I am glad that I am already gaining some friends in my life. And I am glad none of you are attacking and antagonizing me because of how I look."
"Of course. You're already a friend." said Beshte. "And we like you already."
The smile on the Emela-Ntouka's face grew wider and he was looking more grateful and less alone. "Thank you all. However, I doubt that everyone in these Lands will like me."
"Don't let that get to ya, big guy." Kovu reassured him. "That's something you can't change. You're right, not everyone will accept you."
"Like grandfather Mufasa told me," said Kion, "you can't say anyone that you meet in your life. Whether it's from saving them from falling off a cliff, or convincing them to change their ways."
"That does sound like my father alright." Said Simba proudly. "And Kion's right, most animals will accept you out here. Just ignore the comments of the few who will still fear you, or hate you. Some animals here cannot be reasoned with. Like the Lion's Bane, or my evil uncle."
"I do believe that."
"Good."
The Emela-Ntouka bid bye to Basi and his pod of hippos before walking with the lions and Rafiki some more to look for more animals for the creature to warm up to. At the far distance, probably from five-hundred yards away from where Adewale was there was a small family of black rhinoceros.
Kion smiled, and he recognized who those two rhinos were. It was Limali, and her son, Drani, who were grazing in the fields ahead. When the young rhino looked at Adewale, he looked a little scared. "Mommy, what's that?"
Limali stopped her grazing and looked over at the distance where her son was pointing to. "I... do bit know. I can't see very well."
For it was true, rhinos do have rather poor eyesight, and it was difficult for her to see what that animal was. As soon as Adewale got closer, she gasped, and was ready to charge defensively defending her baby. When it comes to black rhinos, male ones who were not the calf's fathers can usually pose a threat to them, and she thought the Emela-Ntouka was a rhinoceros too."
"Who- who are you?" she asked with her right eyebrow raised. "Do not hurt my child."
"It's alright, Limali," said Simba. "This is Adewale. He is a new animal to the Pride Lands."
"Yes. I mean you, or your son no harm." said Adewale. "Now, I know what you are thinking: 'is he a rhino'? Well, truth be told, I am not. I am actually an Emela-Ntouka. Do not get alarmed when I tell you; but my name actually means Elephant Killer, but I am not a mindless brute or a monster. I am an animal like everyone else here."
"Wait, were you making that roar a little while ago?" asked Drani with realization.
"Yeah, we heard some kind of monstrous roar before. Was that you?"
"Well... yes. But I only did it to drive out Janja and his friends."
"Janja?" Limali recogized that name. "Grr, those stupid poachers never seem tl give up when causing senseless mayhem, do they?"
"Apparently not." said Vitani.
"Where did you come from?" asked Drani in a mildly nervous voice.
"Do not fear me, young one." said Adewale. "I will not hurt you. I can assure you that I am a gentle creature. If you do not believe me, then ask king Simba and Queen Nala."
"He's telling the truth, Limali." Nala reassured. "Adewale is a real sweetheart. As a matter of fact, he did something so heroic, that he is worthy of being a hero of the Pride Lands."
"A loyal hero." Simba added.
Kion stepped up and told the two rhinos that happened with him and Adewale, from the Lion's Bane attacking him, Kiara and Kovu, to the point where Adewale saved them from being killed by the sinister group of animals.
Both of them were as equally surprised as other animals who have met him so far. They never thought that the Lion's Bane would return too soon like this. Well, they knew another attack would come, but it caught them both by surprise like the other animals that have heard of the news. "That's... quite surprising." Limali said in utter disbelief. "I'm just glad you three are alright. Those brutes make Janja and his merry band of hyenas look like harmless impalas."
"That's a rather mild way to describe the situation." said Rafiki. "At least we will see the last of them for a little while, now that our good new friend, Adewale, has scared them off to the Outlands. Of course, they will plan another attempt to hunt down and eliminate Kion and his friends. We have to all be cautious around them, and they could attack from the grasses in these lands."
"Well, I won't let anything bad happen to my baby here."
"Mom!" Drani groaned. "Not in front of them."
"Sorry."
"Well, the next time they try to kill me, i'll be ready for them." Kion said. "But, what if they watch my every move? Is there any place safe for me? Gah, what am I saying? I can't say these kind of things. I'm a leader of the sacred protectors of the Pride Lands. I can't be afraid of them. I need to be brave."
"Kion, calm down." said Nala with a chuckle. "It's okay to be scared."
"Yeah, i wouldn't blame for so much." Kiara added. "I mean, if there was a group trying to kill me because I had the Roar of the Elders, i would be a little scared too. But, you're never alone. We'll help you fight against them if they ever try to come back and attack again."
"As long as I do not have to go out there and attack them again. Those brutes are no pushovers." Zazu said. "Look at what they did to my wings!"
"Don't worry, Zazu. That was my fault." the king said. "I promise, we will try to send someone with more fighting experience. against them in an aerial raid."
"Just don't include me. Sorry, sire, but I will not participate in any more aerial raids like that again. I will when it comes to Janja or Reirei, but the Lion's Bane is simply too much for me. Not to mention that, I am not as young as I once was."
"I understand, Zazu. I might have someone with more fighting experience be the lead in that. I promise." Simba vowed. "But, i think it will take a while for those guys to come back. Probably a week, or two. We'll never know when they will come back and strike back."
"Well, as long as you are not a monstrous beast that would kill for fun." said Limali. "Forgive me for saying that,"
Adewale made another chuckle, and he said: "No, it is quite alright. You're not the only one to call me that. And I assure you, I am a normal animal like everyone else in this plain of existence. I hope we can meet each other again and probably graze in the fields together.:
The female black rhinoceros smiled gratefully. "I would like that."
"Excuse me, Adewale," said Drani. "But, do you have a family?"
The Emela-Ntouka made a small laugh, and he replied: "I do. As a matter of fact, I have a mate, and a son of my own. I do live in my own herd, but my species are... rare Drani, and often misunderstood because of our names and appearances. But we are a very friendly tribe. I promise you that, Drani. As a matter of fact, you would like my son, Kobee. He is one if a kind, and he always loves to play."
"Huh. I guess I should meet him some time."
"You should. I guarantee you will like him. Great deal."
Drani smiled hearing that.
The two rhinos bid Adewale, and the lions and Rafiki bye before the Emela-Ntouka was taken to meet other animals to show them that he was no different than them all. From some servals, to expand, to kudu, to Makuu and his band of Nile crocodiles, to some cranes and shoebill storks, and other animals that were open to him.
A few animals were hostile, but those were just some grumpy and ill-tempered ones who hated pretty much everything, and were the opposite of social. Still, Adewale got along with most animals nicely and he was already feeling accepted.
Now, he actually did have friends in his life. Deep down, Kion knew that he had accomplished another great feat, and he smiled. Now, he was wondering what the other Emela-Ntouka would he like when he meets them somewhere in those jungles.
