Best Friend's Brother 5

The next morning seemed to be a blur as Natsumi made her way to school. She'd walked slowly in route to school, anticipating the upcoming events to take place in homeroom.
'I hope everything turns out ok' Natsumi thought as she made her way down the streets of Konoha.
She released a heavy sigh as she mentally reviewed her presentation in her head.
'I hope the fan girls don't attack me afterwards' she thought nervously, adjusting the strap of her bag.
"Hey Natsumi!" an energetic voice suddenly shouted catching the young girl's attention as she turned to meet the source and was met with the sight of Naruto running after her.
"Naruto" the girl exclaimed as the boy rushed to her side breathlessly.
"I've been calling after you for a while" the blonde said after taking a while to catch his breath making the girl give him a confused look.
"Really?" the girl asked perplexed by his statement.
"Believe it" the boy said, pulling a bottle of water out of his bag and beginning to drink some, as Natsumi watched.
"Oh" the young girl said shrugging her shoulders before the teens started walking again.
"Are you alright?" Naruto asked curiously furrowing his brows in concern as he looked at the far off look in the young girl's eyes.
"Yeah" Natsumi replied wearily as she looked over and saw the concern radiating from Naruto's blue hues.
"Are you sure?" Naruto asked raising a brow in suspicion.
"Why do you ask?" the teen girl asked shifting her gaze away from Naruto's concerned look.
"You seem like your head is somewhere else" he admitted folding his hands behind his head casually.
"I guess you could say I'm nervous about the presentation" Natsumi replied honestly while shrugging her shoulders.
"I feel like you'll do ok" Naruto said placing an encouraging hand on Natsumi's shoulder and giving it a light squeeze.
"Thanks Naruto" the young girl said offering him a light smile as the two teens continued on.
"Actually I'm glad I was able to catch up to you because I was wondering if you had any plans this weekend?" the blonde asked.
"Uh not really" Natsumi replied. "I guess I do on Sunday" she said after pausing to think, and causing a new smile to cross Naruto's face.
"Really?" Naruto asked excitedly.
"Yeah" Natsumi said running a hand through her dark locks.
"That's great because I was wondering if you wanted to hang out on Saturday, so I could show you around Konoha." Naruto said looking away from the young girl.
"That would be great" Natsumi said letting a smile cross her face, as she was happy that he had offered to show her around, something she'd hope to do with her mother, but realistically knew that that might not be an option.
"That's great!" Naruto exclaimed happily. "I'll show you the old elementary school, the arcade, the park, and best of all Ichiraku Ramen!" he continued on, slinging an arm around Natsumi's shoulders and listing out the options on his other hand.
"That sounds like fun" Natsumi admitted, growing excited at the plans Naruto had.
"Awesome I'll text you then" Naruto said happily removing his arm from the young girl and returning to his relaxed composure.
Natsumi couldn't help but smile, as Naruto went on with his same excited tone and taking the conversation in many new directions. The blonde talked on, making Natsumi forget about the impending anxiety that seemed to build as she contemplated the first hour presentation, was now pushed far to the back of her mind. The teens went on in conversation the rest of the way to school. Bringing the young girl a nice relief as she enjoyed the company of the cheery blue eyed Naruto.
…
"Alright well done you two" Iruka-sensei praised, as the pair of students made their way back to their seats and the class gave half-hearted applause until the two teens took their seats.
"I thought the point was to tell us more than a name"
"Weren't we supposed to know more than we knew before?"
"So far everyone's just saying the same thing"
"These presentations suck"
The various voices of the students in the classroom sounded off in criticizing tones, making the teacher inwardly groan at the lack of compliance.
"Oh come on guys" Iruka said holding his hands out in front of him in an attempt for trying to up lift the spirits of his students who only offered more criticism for the man who had dropped his head dejectedly.
"Iruka-sensei this whole assignment was pointless since we all know each other" Naruto said lazily raising a hand and causing a sigh to escape Iruka.
"Yeah that's a good point"
"Especially coming from Naruto"
"It's not like it takes a genius to figure that out"
The various voices of several students chorused in agreement, further upsetting the teacher as his shoulders slumped.
"Alright guys I understand this assignment wasn't the most exciting but can you at least wait to criticize it until after every pair has gone?" The teacher pleaded pinching the bridge of his nose in annoyance.
Various groans and scoffs were heard in agreement from the students before Iruka-sensei was able to take a deep breath and regain his composure.
"Ok our last pair for this assignment is Sasuke and Natsumi" the man announced as he sat in his chair and used his legs to push himself back using the wheels at the bottom. Meanwhile the entire class quieted down in anticipation upon hearing those names as all eyes turned to the pair.
'Here we go' Natsumi thought dejectedly as both she and Sasuke rose from their seats and slowly made their way to the front of the classroom.
"Whenever you guys are ready you may start" Iruka said offering an encouraging smile to the teens along with two thumbs up. In theory it was a nice gesture, but it held no impact, especially after the first six times he had used it.
Natsumi felt as if her stomach was dropping, as she looked up and saw the many eyes of her fellow classmates boring into her and making her feel exposed in the worst way. She clenched her fists tightly, hoping that she still seemed as stoic as ever, although inwardly she was a mess. And although Natsumi appeared completely normal on the outside, Sasuke noticed the way her fists had turned white from her clenching them, as well as the slight jaw clenching she was doing, she seemed on edge. But the Uchiha wasn't the only one to see through the facade, as Naruto too had been super vigilant as he remembered that the girl was nervous.
"I'll go first" Sasuke offered leaning over and speaking lowly so only the dark haired teen could hear him. She shyly nodded in response stepping back and bumping her back into the whiteboard behind her with a loud thud, which made the class break into laughter. An immediate blush crossed her face, before the young girl closed her eyes and took a deep breath to calm herself. When she opened her eyes, she gazed around the class taking in the various laughing faces of her classmates, further to her own mortification.
'Real smooth' she thought freezing up as she couldn't take her eyes away from the class. That was until she heard the slight scoff off to the side slightly ahead of her. Immediately she was able to shift her eyes away from root of her terror to meet the boy's onyx hues.
"Idiot" Sasuke said softly as he turned his head to look at the girl with no expression on his face and although this could be seen as typical Sasuke Uchiha behavior, Natsumi knew it was his way of normalizing the situation to take her mind off the embarrassment and focus it on him.
'He's distracting me' the young girl thought continuing to look into the dark eyes of the Uchiha.
So she gave him the thing he wanted and scoffed something he had waited for, before turning back around to face the class and clearing his throat loudly. The class immediately quieted in response as they all waited for the black haired male to begin his presentation.
"As you all know this is Natsumi Nakamaru" Sasuke began motioning to the girl behind him, earning whispers and wolf whistles from the class, before Iruka-sensei cleared his throat and quieted the commotion for Sasuke to continue. "She's 17 years old and an only child. She lives with her mother, who is actually from Konoha originally, but they've just recently moved from Kyoto, where Natsumi grew up. As far as teenage girls go she likes pretty much all the basic things like sweets. Natsumi also comes from a corporate family, thus her driven work ethic. But even with all this new information I know this week everyone has come to their own conclusions on her" he went on.
'Here we go' Natsumi thought sarcastically, while clenching a fist as her thoughts raced through and replayed everything she'd heard about herself from the various bits of gossip she'd heard.
"… but they're wrong" he said surprising the young girl as she unclenched her fist and looked at the young man. "… because I was able to get to know her first hand and from that I know…"
'She's annoying' Natsumi thought trying to guess what the boy would say.
"… she's different" he said, making the girl's eyes widen in surprise.
'What the hell is different?' Natsumi thought as she starred at the Uchiha.
"As you all know, Natsumi and I didn't get off on the best foot and at first I thought that was because she was stubborn or stupid." Sasuke said shrugging his shoulders as some of the class released snickers and Natsumi glared at him. "Yet over the course of the week I've learned it wasn't a question of stubborn or stupid, but if I was looking at the whole thing the wrong way. Natsumi doesn't fall into one category so easily, because she's way more complex than that. She's annoying …"
'There it is' Natsumi thought raising her brows as she crossed her arms in front of her chest.
"But she's not as bad as everyone else." Sasuke said once again surprising not only Natsumi but the entire class. "I don't like a lot of things, but I don't mind Natsumi. She treats me normal, unlike everyone else. She talks about things that matter like family or friends and not the typical superficial things. She jokes with me and makes fun of me which is more than anyone besides Naruto does. Even if her critique can seem overdone, she means well because I've yet to meet someone who was so confident to share their playlist with artists like All Time Low, BTS, and Twenty One Pilots so soon to a person or even face all the rumors it takes being the center of attention" he said making a few of the students nervously glance away with guilty looks on their faces.
'Assholes' Natsumi thought as she narrowed her eyes at the select few who turned away.
"But the bottom line is Natsumi treats me like a friend" Sasuke finished shocking the entirety of the room, before Iruka-sensei began a slow round of applause which quickly caught on amongst the class.
"Good job Sasuke. Really well done" Iruka praised as Sasuke nodded in response before taking a step back and motioning for Natsumi to move forward.
"Wow that's going to be hard to beat" Natsumi admitted quietly as she moved forward, and Sasuke offered a smirk that made her roll her eyes.
Looking over the masses of students who all watched her, Natsumi could feel her nerves return at full force as the sweat collected in the palms of her clenched fists. She could sense the scrutiny from each set of eyes as she looked over the students who all watched in awe of her next move. She felt so uneasy as avoiding the public was something she'd wanted to do at all costs. Yet here she was front and center feeling over exposed with the eyes of about 30 or so students all focused on her. She could feel her breath hitch in her throat as she opened her mouth to speak but no words escaped.
'Oh god I can't do this' Natsumi thought panicked as her gaze shifted downwards before returning to the class.
Yet in that moment when she had looked up, all of the panic disappeared as she was met with the sight of Naruto trying to word something to her.
You've got this Believe it!
Natsumi smiled as she figured out the blonde's message and nodded. This which prompted him to offer her a large smile with thumbs up. A gesture so kind and in true Naruto fashion, being exactly what she needed encourage her to take the big leap.
"Hey guys so I'm not too sure how to follow that up but um this is Sasuke Uchiha, which everyone already knows." Natsumi said using her thumb to point back at the dark haired teen with an awkward smile on her face.
"Obviously" a random voice said earning a few laughs, a making Natsumi shift uncomfortably before Naruto offered an encouraging nod for her to continue.
"Now I could try and tell you something you don't know about him, which is highly unlikely considering how much you all adore him. And don't get me wrong I can see that Sasuke is ..." Natsumi started before shaking her head. "... well he doesn't need the ego boost from me and there's really no point in repeating what's already been said about hundred times. Chances are you all know his favorite color is blue, he's 17, grew up in Konoha, and isn't an only child. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to put together what everyone says about him to figure what kind of person Sasuke is, but anyways when we first started this I wasn't fan of Sasuke Uchiha and as the week went on I wasn't really being won over yet somehow throughout the week I was able to get know Sasuke differently than all the things I'd heard." Natsumi went on unknowingly earning a smirk from the Uchiha behind her.
"He's not perfect." the young girl stated simply earning gasps from most of the female population in the room and causing Sasuke's smirk to falter while hearing Naruto snicker.
"How could she say that?"
"Who does she think she is?"
"Sasuke is perfect!"
"She's the one that isn't"
"He's a human being with all the imperfections of being one." Natsumi stated abruptly regaining the attention of the class as the voices of the room quieted. "He's obnoxious, arrogant, entitled, and at times immature." Natsumi said listing off on her fingers and earning light laughs from the class.
"But the thing is even if it upsets Sasuke for me to call him out on all this, he wants it because Sasuke doesn't want to be put on a pedestal." Natsumi continued, making Sasuke stare at her in wonder. "At the end of the day Sasuke Uchiha is a normal teenage boy, dealing with normal problems like insecurity, living up to high expectations, or just being included. In the beginning I was pretty upset about the way this all worked out but in the end I'm glad everything happened the way it did or I wouldn't have been able to call Sasuke my friend." Natsumi finished. There was silence for a while, until she heard the clapping start, but this clapping wasn't coming from Iruka-sensei as it did before. Much to the young girl's surprise it originated from Sasuke himself. As she turned around, she found herself in shock at the sight. Soon it had started a chain reaction as the next to clap was Iruka-sensei and then Naruto, the girl observed as she turned to face them, before the entirety of the class joined in.
"Wow great work!" Iruka-sensei exclaimed standing from his seat as he brought the teens in under his arms. "I'm glad you didn't all hate this assignment!" he went on excitedly pushing the two dark haired teens back into the direction of their seats.
"So we're friends?" Sasuke asked in a low voice for only Natsumi to hear as the pair sat in their seats.
"Well what would you call it? After all aside from Naruto I'm the only person you've brought home" Natsumi said leaning toward the boy as she replied in a tone just above a whisper. But her only response was a sideways glance, before Sasuke returned his attention to the front, making the young girl huff.
'As per usual I do not get an exact answer' the young girl thought sinking back into her seat as she tried to focus her attention to the front as well.
...
As to be expected Natsumi seemed to be on everyone's radar following the presentation during first hour as she made her way through the halls of Konoha High. Then again, what was to be expected after she and Sasuke made a public declaration of friendship. She heavily sighed as she made her way to her fourth hour class.
"What do you think is going on with the new girl and Sasuke?"
"Did you hear about their presentation this morning?"
"How could Sasuke consider HER a friend?"
"I don't know how she did it but she became Sasuke's friend after just a week"
The various voices filled the halls as the dark haired girl passed, making her inwardly groan.
'Seriously?' Natsumi thought with an annoyed huff before the sound of her name being called caught her attention.
"Natsumi" Hinata greeted her friend as she walked alongside the girl. "I heard about your presentation, is everything alright?" the quiet teen asked with concern as she noted the visible stiffness of Natsumi.
"Y-yeah" the teen managed to reply, relaxing in the presence of her friend before proceeding to tell her about the events of that morning's class assignment.
"That's good" Hinata exclaimed with a smile. "I'm so happy that it all worked out" she went on encouragingly as the pair continued on to their way to Shizune-sensei's class.
"I guess, but even I'm not happy with all the attention it's bringing on" Natsumi said as the girl's entered the mostly empty room.
"People would've been talking regardless of anything you said" Hinata replied honestly making Natsumi bite the inside of her cheek in thought as the two took their seats.
"You're right considering it's Sasuke, but even so I wish what I said would've been taken more seriously" Natsumi replied thoughtfully.
"What do you mean?" Hinata asked curiously.
"Well it's not like I thought it would bring Sasuke down to everyone's level so they would treat him normally, but I thought it might at least take him down a peg so they all know that he's normal" Natsumi explained.
"I think the opposite might've happened with him calling you his friend" Hinata admitted earning a taken aback look from Natsumi.
"What?" Natsumi asked.
"It's never been easier to catch up with you than it is now" Hinata stated, making Natsumi raise a brow in disbelief. "Especially when you're parting the hallway's traffic the way Sasuke does" Hinata explained further bringing a look of alarm to Natsumi's face as she realized that she'd been so distracted by the voices, that she failed to notice she done less weaving through the normally crowded halls.
"I can't believe it" the dark haired teen admitted dejectedly leaning back in her seat with a blank look on her face as Hinata released a light laugh at her friend's actions.
"But speaking of Sasuke, how have things been with him since this morning?" Hinata asked curiously, bringing Natsumi's attention back to her.
"Well I don't think much has really changed ..." Natsumi thought aloud, with a thoughtful look on her face. "He kind of ignored me after the presentation but that's nothing new. Actually if there has been a change it's really small" she went on thinking back to the black haired boy's actions from last hour.
"What do you mean?" Hinata asked.
"You understand how rude Sasuke is right?" Natsumi asked, earning a nod of understanding from Hinata.
"Is he being a lot nicer?" Hinata asked with wide eyes, making Natsumi lightly scoff.
"Well we're definitely not having slumber parties and movie nights, but it's the little things, you know?" Natsumi asked earning a confused look from her dark haired friend. "Like before he and I didn't really greet each other in class, when I would talk he'd sometimes ignore me, and he almost never says goodbye, but today in third hour he nodded to me when I sat down, when I talked he gave light hums to let me know he was listening, and when class ended he waited until I packed up and walked out with me" Natsumi explained as a look of wonder crossed Hinata's face.
"He's being really nice to you Natsumi" Hinata said with a smile. "To think he'd change his cold nature by being your friend is really incredible" the girl went on, earning a perplexed look from Natsumi.
"Well don't go nominating him for a Nobel Peace Prize yet, he's still the same jerk who has way too much arrogance" Natsumi replied waving off the subject as the bell rang signaling the beginning of class.
"Alright class let's get you all started on your work today so I can get back to mine" Shizune-sensei announced with a determined resolve, making most of the class stare awkwardly at her.
...
After the revelation Hinata revealed in their fourth hour conversation, Natsumi spent the rest of the day trying to blend into the background as she'd done before, but found this to be hopeless as she could no longer blend in amongst the large crowds, that now made way for her.
'I guess things have changed' Natsumi thought critically as she walked down the halls at the end of the day, taking a second to look up she saw that the crowd still divided but not just for her as she observed Sasuke making his way in the other direction, taking a moment to glance over Natsumi before rolling his eyes and making a small smile cross her lips as she walked by the dark haired young man. 'I guess we are friends' she thought exiting the school.
"Hey Natsumi!" an energetic voice called, making the young girl turn to look, seeing a smiling Naruto bound up to her.
"Hi Naruto" Natsumi greeted the blonde with a small smile.
"You heard me the first time" the blonde boy exclaimed happily, making the girl roll her eyes.
"Very funny Naruto" she commented as he started to walk beside her.
"I'm just saying Natsumi it's a nice change than yelling and playing catch up" he went on making a smile cross the young girl's face.
"Is there any specific reason for you following me?" Natsumi asked raising a brow at the blonde, who smiled sheepishly while scratching his cheek.
"Well I was hoping I could walk you home so that I knew where to pick you up tomorrow" Naruto explained awkwardly with a closed eyed smile as he ran a hand through his blonde hair nervously.
"You know if you weren't so nice or the guy everyone called an idiot, that might come off as creepy" Natsumi said as Naruto nodded in agreement before opening his eyes as he'd processed what she said.
"Wait a minute who's calling me an idiot?" Naruto asked furrowing his brows and making Natsumi laugh.
"Of course you can walk me home" Natsumi said with a smile, making the blonde smile yet again as the teens continued their walk.
"I still want to know who called me an idiot" Naruto inquired folding his hands behind his head.
"Don't worry about it" Natsumi replied calmly earning a grunt of annoyance.
"Come on Natsumi you can tell me" the blonde whined earning an eye roll from the dark haired girl. "It was probably Sasuke right?" he asked knowingly, earning another eye roll from the teen girl, before releasing a heavy sigh and changing the subject.
The walk went well as expected as Naruto kept the conversation pretty lively. It wasn't long before the pair had arrived at Natsumi's house. As the two teens came to a halt outside the front, the conversation ceased as Naruto took in the home.
"Did you want to come inside?" Natsumi offered as she stood in front of the blonde.
"Yeah that sounds great" Naruto said excitedly as the young girl began to lead him up the driveway toward the home.
"Hm" Natsumi said in acknowledgment of his comment as they neared the front door, and she readied her key to unlock it.
"I'm actually really happy you invited me in because I really have to use the bathroom" Naruto admitted, making Natsumi freeze.
"Why didn't you say something sooner?" Natsumi asked turning to look at the blonde, who was now nervously shifting from one leg to another.
"Nature calls" he said offering a slight chuckle before Natsumi returned her attention to fidgeting with her key to unlock the front door.
She struggled obviously not used to her new key or the new lock for the matter, as it took some time to finally make some progress and in that time making Naruto awkward shifting of his feet turn into a full blown dance. As she's finally managed to open the door Naruto immediately rushed in.
"Which way?" he asked quickly as he pushed past the young girl.
"Take a right down the hall then it's the last door on the left" she immediately directed as Naruto nodded vigorously in understanding before darting away in the direction Natsumi gave him.
The blonde took in what view he could of the home as he raced through the foyer of the home passing a large coat closet, then turning right down the hall as instructed passing by a door on his right that was left slightly ajar to reveal what looked like a laundry room. Finally arriving at the door on the left at the far end of the hallway, he entered seeing a very clean white bathroom that was of average size.
Natsumi released a deep sigh as she turned around and picked up Naruto's book bag that he had carelessly left abandoned on her front porch. Throwing the strap of his bag over her shoulder, Natsumi noted how heavy the two bags were as she entered her house, walking left over to the living room and tossing both bags onto a chair, before falling onto the sofa tiredly.
...
Meanwhile across town, Sasuke sat lazily on the couch of his living room, flipping through the channels of his television with boredom evident on his face.
"I brought a snack for you sweetie" His mother suddenly said entering the room and placing a tray next to him with a glass of juice and a small plate of dumplings.
"Thank you" he said with a small smile as his mother reached over and patted his head affectionately.
"I was hoping you'd bring Natsumi home with you again" the woman commented standing upright, and making her son look at her with raised brows.
"Just me today" Sasuke replied reaching toward the tray and picking up the glass to take a sip.
"Maybe you should invite her for dinner" Mikoto suggested letting a sly smile cross her lips, much to her son's annoyance.
"I think I'm going to head over to Naruto's for dinner" Sasuke then said abruptly standing.
"Sasuke! Sit down and finish your snack!" his mother commanded with her hands on her hips and making the boy do so with an aggravated huff. "I'm not trying to upset you, I'm merely making a suggestion" Mikoto continued while Sasuke made quick work of the contents of the tray.
"I'm not upset" Sasuke said stoically.
"Are you and Natsumi fighting?" the woman asked furrowing her brows in concern as she placed a hand over her heart when she sat beside a very annoyed Sasuke. He immediately stood, as she looked at him with a look of sorrow.
"Naruto is expecting me" Sasuke lied making his way up to his room to change.
'Everything is going to be about Natsumi for a while' he thought while rolling his eyes.
After the abrupt exit of her son Mikoto released an aggravated huff before beginning to gather the tray and to take back to the kitchen, when she was interrupted by the ringing of her phone.
"Hello" the woman said sweetly, after checking the caller ID.
"Hello dear" the voice at the other end of the line said, making a bigger smile cross the woman's face as she leaned back onto the couch.
"Fugaku how are you?" Mikoto asked.
"All things are going smoothly with the branch. I really believe Itachi has made great strides this summer." The man responded.
"Oh how is he?" Mikoto asked happily.
"He's doing well here but he's looking forward to coming home" Fugaku replied.
"That's nice I assume he must miss his friends" Mikoto commented earning a scoff from her husband on the other line.
"Those 'friends' are nothing but a distraction. He needs to focus on his studies if he wants to stay on track to take over the company one day." Fugaku responded gruffly earning an eye roll from his wife as she stood with Sasuke's tray and started to head back to the kitchen.
"Itachi is still young dear. Let him enjoy his youth, besides all that stress won't do him any good" Mikoto said frankly as she set down the tray on one of the kitchen counters with an abrupt bang, that her husband surely heard.
"Mikoto he has responsibilities as the heir to the Uchiha Company and family" Fugaku tried in a softer tone, but only to earn an annoyed huff from the other end of the line.
"He's still your son and he deserves a break, stop smothering him, we have more than one child" Mikoto said in an annoyed tone. "Besides Itachi is probably looking forward to seeing Sasuke when he returns, you know how close they are" Mikoto continued in a softer tone.
"Hn" the man replied solemnly. "How has Sasuke been?" he asked curiously at the mention of his younger child.
"He's doing well, school's just started but he's really made the most of it" Mikoto said excitedly.
"Oh are he and Naruto eating us out of the house already?" the man said earning a light laugh from his wife.
"No he hasn't brought Naruto over yet, actually he mentioned going to Naruto's for dinner tonight" Mikoto informed her husband as she placed the dishes into the sink.
"Naruto hasn't been over yet, that's odd" Fugaku commented.
"No but he has brought someone else" Mikoto said with a new smile crossing her face.
"Who?" asked her husband with a new found curiosity.
"A girl from school" Mikoto answered earning silence as she could tell her husband wanted to hear more.
"He brought a girl over?" the man asked breaking the long silence and making his wife stifle a giggle at how she was right.
"Yes and she was quiet lovely too." Mikoto commented. "She was so kind and they seemed to get along very well" the woman went on.
"Sasuke's never brought home anyone besides Naruto" her husband commented with astonishment evident in his voice.
"That's exactly what I said" the woman replied.
"Who is she?" Fugaku asked.
"Her name is Natsumi Nakamaru" Mikoto replied before telling her husband about the meeting excitedly, and giving Sasuke enough time to sneak out unannounced, but also unaware of his mother's phone call.
...
When Naruto had made his way out of the bathroom he walked back down the hallway of the home, noting the plain walls bare of any family photos and instead having simple art work decorating the walls. Upon passing the foyer, he saw the large archway connecting to what appeared to be the connected dining room and Kitchen. As he enter the large living room, he took in the space, noticing the staircase at the far end and the room itself with a large television mounted to the wall with a couple reclining chairs, an ottoman, and a large soft brown sofa where he was surprised to see the sleeping form of Natsumi on couch curled into a ball. A smile immediately crossed his face as he observed how peaceful she looked, but also a slight blush as his eyes wandered down to reveal how little the school skirts actually covered. He quickly averted his eyes, looking elsewhere in the room and reacting quickly. The blonde quickly made his way across the room, taking hold of a blanket that was draped over the corner of the ottoman, and used it to cover Natsumi's sleeping form.
"There" the blonde said happily stepping back from the young girl, but that was soon interrupted by the sudden ringing of his phone, making the blonde jump as he scrambled to answer the call before the ringing would disrupt Natsumi's slumber.
"Hello" Naruto said frantically as he accepted the call and held the device to his ear, making his way to what assumed was the dining room.
"Hey dobe I'm on my way over now" Sasuke said on the other line, surprising the blonde.
"Wait what? What do you mean you're on your way over?" Naruto asked in a confused tone.
"I couldn't handle my mother's questions about Natsumi, so I told her I was going to your place for dinner tonight" Sasuke explained, making Naruto release a nervous laugh. "What?" Sasuke immediately asked in an annoyed tone.
"Well you see it's actually a pretty funny story" Naruto said with a slight chuckle, before being cut off by Sasuke.
"Naruto what did you do?" Sasuke said with an annoyed huff of frustration.
"I'm not home right now" Naruto admitted earning another annoyed huff from Sasuke on the other end of the line.
"Where are you dobe?" Sasuke asked with annoyance evident in his voice.
"I walked Natsumi home and she fell asleep so I'm still here" Naruto blurted out his explanation.
"I'll be there to pick you up in five minutes" Sasuke said before hanging up abruptly.
Naruto released a heavy sigh before pocketing his phone and returning to the living room. Much to the boy's surprise the young girl was still sleeping peacefully, sighing in relief Naruto had decided to take a seat in one of the recliners beside the sofa, but much to his horror as he leaned back, he found it to be not only a recliner but a rocking chair which creaked loudly. The abrupt sound immediately stirred the sleeping girl who suddenly sat up and further surprised Naruto. The blonde jumped in his seat in fright as the girl slowly turned and gave him a confused/annoyed look.
"I'm sorry I woke you up!" Naruto stammered out loudly, earning a couch pillow to the face.
"Why are you so loud?" the dark haired girl asked rubbing her eyes tiredly, before looking down to her lap and taking notice of the blanket that wasn't there before and giving the blonde a questioning look.
"Oh I saw up your skirt so I covered you" Naruto said trying to wave it off casually, before realizing what he had said and immediately clamping a hand over his mouth as his eyes widened in horror.
"You what?" Natsumi asked registering what the blonde said and snapping her head to look at him, which further terrified the young man.
"N-Na-Nats-Natsumi calm down!" Naruto stuttered out in fear as the young girl stood slowly and started towards him, making the boy try to hold his hands up, but as she stood in front of him, he could feel himself tremble as her eyes seemed to glow red and a dark aura surrounded her.
"Naruto" the girl seethed in anger before the blonde boy released a horrific shriek as he threw the pillow from earlier at her in an attempt to run, but that was thwarted as she caught it and removed her shoe, chucking it at the blonde's head.
"Natsumi don't be mad. It's not like I saw a lot" Naruto pleaded further angering the young girl who was now chasing him throughout the house.
"Shut up Naruto!" Natsumi said angrily cornering the boy and leaping onto his back as he released another terrified scream.
...
Meanwhile outside the residence, Sasuke had pulled into the driveway, sending a text to his blonde friend but receiving no reply. He sighed obviously annoyed at Naruto for most likely not checking his phone when he was told to be expecting him. Sasuke glanced over to the home of Natsumi, debating on whether he should go to the door to retrieve his friend, before ultimately deciding that to be the best choice as Naruto wasn't the most responsible when it came to answering his phone. Releasing another sigh, Sasuke slowly made his way out of his car and towards the house, until he heard the panicked scream of the blonde boy. Sasuke immediately rushed to the door in worry, shaking the door knob and discovering it to be unlocked, he rushed in and followed the pained yells into the home through a large archway to what he assumed to be the kitchen. Once there he released a deep breath of relief as he saw the cause was an angry Natsumi on the back of Naruto, pulling his hair while the blonde tried to untangle her hold on him.
"What are you doing?" Sasuke said in an annoyed huff, gaining the attention of both teens.
"Sasuke help!" Naruto pleaded as Sasuke raised a brow in question.
"Help and you die too!" Natsumi said in a warning tone, making Sasuke furrow his brows in confusion.
"What is going on?" Sasuke asked as the teens resumed their previous tussle, much to his annoyance.
"Natsumi" Naruto pleaded trying to unhook her fingers from his hair.
"No!" the girl yelled stubbornly tightening her grip on his hair and tightening her legs that were wrapped around him to keep her up.
"Would you two knock it off!" Sasuke said now entangling himself in the situation as he took hold Natsumi's waist from behind and started to pull the young girl loose.
"Ow!" Naruto exclaimed louder. "Sasuke don't pull so hard she still has my hair!" Naruto said angrily, earning an eye roll from the Uchiha who ignored him as he kept tugging the young girl away.
When Sasuke had finally managed to pry Natsumi from Naruto's back, the blonde scurried off to the other end of the kitchen in fear, still clenching his head, as Sasuke held Natsumi tightly from behind.
"What happened?!" Sasuke finally yelled as he tried to not lose his grip on the young girl who still thrashed around.
"It wasn't on purpose!" Naruto suddenly shouted before cowering back again as Natsumi seemed like she might break free from Sasuke's hold.
"What?" Sasuke asked.
"It was an accident!" Naruto said opening a cupboard and digging out a pan's lid to hold up as a makeshift shield.
"What?!" Sasuke said once again raising his voice, as Natsumi finally stopped struggling against him and stood still.
"Naruto looked up my skirt!" the girl exclaimed pointing angrily at the blonde and making Sasuke raise both brows in astonishment. Sensing Sasuke's shock Natsumi found new strength as she placed her hands over Sasuke's in an attempt to pry open his grip from her waist.
"Hey calm down!" Sasuke said tightening his hold as Natsumi released an aggravated huff, before falling limp in Sasuke's arms.
"I'm sorry!" Naruto exclaimed before Sasuke picked up an apple from the fruit bowl he noticed on the counter and threw it at the blonde, hitting him in face.
"Ow Sasuke!" Naruto exclaimed gripping his now bleeding nose.
"You act like you didn't deserve it dobe" Sasuke said gruffly, before slowly releasing Natsumi from his hold. "Problem solved" he said as the girl turned back around to face him in disbelief.
"Hey why'd you do that!?" Natsumi asked immediately looking at Sasuke with an angry look that made him give her a look of bewilderment. "I didn't need your help Sasuke. I could've handled that on my own" the teen girl continued placing her hands on her hips before turning her head and making Naruto flinch as he curled into the feeble position awaiting her attack which didn't come.
"You're not going to hit me, are you?" Naruto asked in terror. Much to his surprise Natsumi gave an annoyed huff as she watched the blood from his nose drip down to the floor prompting her to leave the room briefly before returning with a roll of tissue, and kneeling down beside the blonde and beginning to tend to his bleeding nose.
'I should've known she'd forgive him' Sasuke thought rolling his eyes at the sight.
"You're not mad anymore?" Naruto asked in disbelief as the girl held his chin in one hand and wiped the blood away from his face with tissue in the other.
"I forgive you, just stop bleeding all over my kitchen" Natsumi said in a still annoyed tone, taking another tissue and dabbing his face.
"Thank you" the blonde exclaimed thankfully letting his head fall as he released a deep breath of relief.
"Hey! Keep your head up!" she directed pushing the blonde back immediately and making him laugh.
...
After finishing tending to the blonde boy's nose, Natsumi quickly began cleaning the mess as Sasuke announced that he would be heading out with Naruto.
"Lock the door" Sasuke said in a commanding tone as the boys made their way out the door.
"The only reason it wasn't was because my hands were full" Natsumi shot back.
"Your bag doesn't take up that much space" Sasuke said in a snarky tone.
"For your information I had to carry in two bags or Naruto would've peed on my porch!" Natsumi yelled after the boys, making Sasuke freeze from entering his car as he gave Naruto a look of confusion and judgment.
"Just lock your door!" Sasuke yelled back as Natsumi loudly shut the door.
"What a loser" Natsumi said angrily as she locked her door and trudged to the living room beginning to take out the assignments she needed to complete. "Where does he get off thinking he can tell me what to do?" the teen girl thought out loud falling back onto the couch with an angry huff. "I should've told him to – ugh I hate this! Why do I always think of things I could've said in an argument!?" the teen asked herself crossing her arms, before shaking the thought from her head and deciding to work on her homework.
...
"What a loser" Sasuke said in an annoyed huff after watching the dark haired teen girl slam her door.
'She's so annoying I can't believe how stubborn she is' Sasuke went on in thought as he drove down the road, blocking out whatever topic the blonde went on about, as his thoughts couldn't help but wonder back to what he could've said to the teen girl. It wasn't until arriving to Naruto's that he decided to try and distance the thought.

A/N: So that was chapter 5 and again I'm sorry Itachi has yet to be introduced but it's important that she builds her friendship with Sasuke before all the drama takes place. The tension is definitely building and I hope you don't mind the wait because trust me it will be worth it. Anyways I hope you like what I've written so far because I had this whole moment of "Oh my god I suck at writing" and on top of that I found my old account with this Inuyasha story I never finished, so I felt pretty much like a failure. That's not the point though I hope you all enjoy and continue the ride and please remember to read and review because they are much appreciated
