The next morning had come, and little Kion was feeling much better about that little nightmare he had last night, thanks to his family keeping him close and never putting him in any danger. Yes, he could always count on his family to help him out, along with all his friends that he knew the closest as well.
He yawned and looked over the horizon and he needed to get a drink of water from the nearby waterhole to start the day, and feel hydrated. Nala and Simba went up to check on him about this whole thing.
"Are you feeling alright, Kion?" asked Nala. "You didn't have another nightmare, did you? You can tell me and your father if you did."
"I'm okay mom." Kion replied, turning around to face the king and queen. "I'm perfectly fine. I had... better dreams as a matter of fact."
"Perfect." said Nala. "You gave us quite a scare last night."
"Yeah, but if you ever want to talk about anything that's bothering you, you can always come tell us and talk to us about it. I know I shouldn't say that, because you already knew that." said Simba. "I'm feeling a little thirsty. Mind if I join you at the Water hole, Kion?"
"Sure, dad." said the cub. "That would be nice."
"Are you sure, you're feeling alright, Kion?" asked Zira
'Yeah. I'm okay. I promise. Besides, I'm a pretty terrible liar if I was lying."
"Well, I wouldn't call you a terrible liar." said Vitani. "Remember when you were trying to he at two places at once to make your parents, my brother, and your sister happy."
"You weren't that bad a liar, buddy." said Kovu. "Not trying to make it sound bad. I was just a little impressed with that."
"Yeah. But I regret it." Kion admitted sheepishly. "I prefer not to talk about it right now."
"Sorry." said Kiara. "Well, me and Kovu are off to hunt some breakfast. Want to come with us after you're done with the waterhole?"
"Sure. I'm feeling hungry too." then Kion went with his father and they got some decent amount of water in their bodies so they wouldn't dehydrate in this usual, warm day in the African savanna. "Dad, I'm sorry I woke you and everyone up from a nightmare..." he looked a little embarrassed and ashamed of himself. "...again." he cringed.
Simba smiled sadly. "There's no need to apologize, Kion. Really. Nightmares just happen unexpectedly, and you never know when they will hit you." he suddenly frowned and looked away with a sigh. "I... don't really like to tell you this, but... I have a few nightmares once in a while."
"Really? But, you're a king." Kion raised his right eyebrow in confusion. "I haven't seen you get scared of anything before."
"Well... I am a king, but even kings and queens have a weakness. I can get scared, son. I was scared when I heard about Zira returning back to her normal self, i was so scared and i was afraid that she would eat you mercilessly. Not to mention that every time you go out there patrolling and all, I worry about your safety, because you're my son, and I love you. Very much."
"Thanks dad, but what's this about nightmares?"
"Well... I really... don't like to talk about it, but... sometimes, I have nightmares about my father. Wishing that I could save him from... you know what I mean."
Kion gave him a sympathetic look, and he rubbed his head against his right arm. "I know how you feel dad. But, you were as old as me then, and you didn't know of Scar's plot."
"I know. Still, I have the rest of my family here and... no one is ever really gone." he smiled and hugged his son close to him. "At least I'm here to make sure nothing bad ever happens to you, and your big sister."
"And you're not worrying to much about me and Kiara, are you?"
"No. I am trying, I promise you that."
Suddenly, there was a very loud, blood-curdling screech from above, which startled both Kion and Simba. From above, something swooped down on them, but didn't touch touch the two lions. "What the heck was that?" Kion exclaimed.
"I don't know. Get behind me, Kion!" Simba said. He looked at the sky, but there was no one in the sky. It was rather frightening for something like this would happen. It was probably Mzingo and his merry band of vultures again, which Simba had dealt with before, and Simba looked confident.
Kion stayed behind his father at all times and waited for something to happen. After a few long seconds, the thing swooped at the two again, but Simba was using his claws to try and swap the winged fiend while growling and roaring and baring his teeth.
He couldn't quite make out what this flying creature was, for it was dive-boming too fast. It was a little too hard, and Simba was still looking around for the creature. "Well, ain't this a surprise." said a Male voice that sounded a little gruff.
"Who's there?!" Simba said.
"Just look at my dinner growing up. Yet again, you have not grown that much, Kion."
"How do you know my name?!" said the cub. "What do you want from me?!"
"Don't you recognize me, kid?" the voice taunted him. "I tried to have you as my next dinner months after you were born."
The creature landed on the ground and revealed to be a gigantic, martial eagle looking menacing, and ready for a type of revenge. Simba growled, and he was baring his teeth again. "Siyanda." Simba said.
Yes, it was that very eagle that tried to eat Kion some time ago, but failed. "Flattered, you remembered my name, your highness." he sneered at Simba. This bird looked bigger than an average martial eagle, and these birds were know for their crests on their heads, but this one had a longer Crest on his head, and his black feathers were more black than any martial eagle.
Blood stained his claws, revealing that he was some kind of sadistic avian. Whatever this eagle was up to next. It was not going to be pretty.
"Siyanda?!" said Kion. He appeared next to Simba. "What do you want?"
"What I wanted from a long time ago since I laid my eye on you." Siyanda replied flatly. In a more aggressive and evil voice with a frown, he added: "your meat."
