The wind was still chill in the Pride Lands, and the sun was still shining in the Sapphire sky that hailed above the earth. Ramses, the overly-aggressive and dangerous lion, was still in the Outlands on this fine day, but a very villainous and unstable lion like him, did not care for most things, but to take revenge on the Lion Guard and their followers.

Boy, this lion had a big blood lust in him, and there would be nothing short of Kion and his friends own deaths that will calm the anger and hatred in Ramses' heart. Still, he thought of the little offer that Harif and the Lion's Bane had given him. He couldn't believe that animals that he believed to be lower than a lion would ask him such a stupid offer.

"Why in all of Earth would I want to join those freaks?" he said to himself while pouting on the rocky ground. "Grah! I wouldn't even be caught dead joining forces with any other animal out here. Everyone knows that lions are the mightiest animals, and the most noble. Nobody else. Besides, I can take on that pesky Kion and his meddling friends all by myself. All I have to do idnkake sure that they are all alone with no one to protect them, but themselves."

While walking a few miles from where he was sitting at, he found a small water hole that looked more like a giant puddle. Despite that, he went over to it, and got himself another drink to fare in those lands.

"I mean, how hard can it be to kill five stupid kids?" he continued talking to himself. "Roar of the Elders or not, I am still a stronger animal. Lions are supposed to be over all living creatures that exist in these Lands."

"Excuse me," said a female voice. "But, did I hear you say you hate the Lion Guard?" Ramses perked his ears up, and he made a small growl as he turned around, revealing to he Reirei and her family of jackals.

"Perhaps." Ramses flatly replied. "What would you like to know?"

"Well, ne and my family hate those kids as much as you."

The unhinged lion made a mocking chuckle before saying: "you cannot have as much hatred for them as much as me. I want them all dead more than you little dogs do."

"We're jackals." said Goigoi. "Get your facts right!"

"Hey!" Ramses barked at the father. in a more calmer voice, he added: "I wouldn't talk like that to me if I were you. I can rip up your throats quickly."

"Look. We just want to know if you would like to work with us. Anyone who is an enemy of the Lion Guard is a good friend of ours." Reirei said.

"Well, not me." said Ramses in a flat voice. "I am a lion. And I prefer to work alone for myself."

"Aren't you a lion?" asked a pup.

"Yes."

"You don't have a Pride?" asked another pup.

"I used to. Until my nemesis and the meddling Lion Guard came and took that away from me. Thanks to them, I have no pride, and I am forced to go wander here in these Outlands. So, how can I form my own pride in a place like this?"

"So, i guess you don't want to work with us." said Reirei

"Of course not. Lions usually serve themselves and all animals showed bow down to us lions like the kings of the animals we are."

"Well, there are no kings and queens in the Outlands." said Reirei.

"Bah. I know that." Ramses closed his eyes. "Just stay out of my way, and hope we do not cross paths again."

"Very well. Come on, family. Let's leave him alone." the jackal family then went off and got a drink before they left him. Water was, after all, a little scarce in the Outlands, and the probably needed the water they can get.

Meanwhile

back in the Pride Lands, Kion and Rani were having a drink of water from a nearby lake, and they looked for shelter under the warm sun. Rainy season was a little close to the Pride Lands, and that meant: some areas will be flooded, and new life, such as fish, will dwell upon the new rivers and lakes.

Not only that, but new prey will probably come and more food than predators can imagine. "Rani, can I tell you something?" said Kion.

"Hmm?"

"We might have been over this before, but sometimes, I question myself as the leader of the Lion Guard. I know I do a good job and all, but i worry about myself sometimes. What if I don't save my friends in time if something bad happens and I can't save them in time?"

"Well, you don't really have to he a king over your home like I will be queen of my home one day, so, that's a little different. And, my parents told me that: you can't save everyone. Sometimes it's too late to save someone from dying or getting hurt."

"Yeah. I know. It's sad to think about."

"I know."

"You know, my dad says a lot of times on how he wished he could have saved grandfather Mufasa from being killed by great uncle Scar."

Rani made a small frown. "Well, I guess they were close together."

"Really close." Kion agreed. "My dad would suffer from nightmares about when his dad died that day."

"Well, I lost family too."

"Really?"

"Uh-huh. Ramses killed my grandparents, who were opposing him and his rule over the Night Pride."

"What?" Kion gave her a sympathetic look. "I.. I'm sorry to hear that."

"It's okay. Don't worry about it. I was just a very little cub when it happened. My parents said there was nothing I could have done to save them. If I tried, I would have been dead too."

"That's what dad said when grandfather died. He said that he was just a cub, and Scar manipulated everyone behind his scheme. I told dad it wasn't his fault, and Scar was to blame."

"I see."

"Well, you want to look for Adewale and his Emela-Ntouka family now?"

"Sure."
