Kion sure had a fun time with Rani at Adewale's home in the jungle distance, and best of all, he believes he has found love. Yet again, he didn't exactly know if he and Rani are soulmates, or if they were not really... thinking clearly once they had kissed one another. He didn't want to think about it too much or think too hard about the kiss. Besides, they ate both lions and mayhem they could he right for one another.
Honestly, he probably just needs to spend some more time with her to tell their supposed relationship. In the meantime, he looked at his surroundings as he was patrolling with his friends some more on this fine day.
Over in a distance, the kids saw Reirei and her family of jackals harassing a group of Fischer's lovebirds as they were high in the trees, where the jackals wouldn't be able to reach them all. "Let me take a look at that." said Ono. He flew overhead, and saw in the large tree that it was, indeed, a group of fifty Fischer's lovebirds, and the colorful leader, Siyabonga were hiding.
The egret flew back to his friends and he informed them by saying: "it's Siyabonga. He and the other lovebirds are being tormented by Reirei and her no-good family."
"Why don't the birds just fly away?" Bunga asked. "They can fly, jackals can't."
"Yes, but those jackals are relentless." Kion said. "They will just follow the lovebirds and they won't stop until they have what they want. We all know how they get when they wsht something to eat."
"Good point." said Beshte. "They are not as formidable as the Lion's Bane, but still dangerous."
"Come on, guys. We need to do something." Fuli remarked. Rushing to the birds' aid, the mids found the jackals and they were ready for another fight with them.
"Don't you kids ever give up?" Goigoi said.
"I ask you all the same thing." Kion remarked.
"Why can't you let us have our fun?"
"Because your fun is mean and wrong." the leader replied. "You terrorize the animals for your own amusement. How would you feel if someone did that to you?"
"Uhhhh... fat?" Goigoi modestly replied.
"You can't compare us with other animals, Kion. We jackals are our own type of animals."
"Granted, you are different, but it gives you no right. So this is my first and only warning to you all: leave now." the cub looked very serious and he was more than ready to emmit the Roar of the Elders to this band of troublesome canines.
The jackals just laughed and scoffed, but they didn't laugh like hyenas would, but they still scoffed at the kids. "The roar of the Elders don't don't scare us so much anymore, Kion." said Goigoi.
"Besides, you're just a bunch of kids." Reirei added.
Suddenly, from behind them, a male voice said: "just because they are children, does not mean they are incapable of accomplishing many things great." the famitm of jackals looked back, and to their horror, it was Akilah, Veya, and the family of wild dogs, ready to fight the jackals back to the Outlands.
"Oh no." Reirei remarked. "Not you guys again."
"Unless you want trouble, we suggest you all leave and Ember return." Veya firmly stated.
Without hesitation, the jackals ran away in cowardice, all the way back to the Outlands. It wasn't really because wild dogs were slightly bigger than jackals, but it was because Reirei and her family were outnumbered thirty, forty, or even fifty wild dogs to ten jackals.
The lovebirds were so relieved, they flew down and greeted the animals on the ground. Siyabonga landed in front of Kion, and he said: "thank you guys so much for taking care of those friends. We owe you one."
"And to the wild dogs as well." said Neeni, his mate.
Akilah, his wife, and kids smiled and the leader said: "we're glad to help. Why can't those jackals leave well-enough alone?"
"I ask the same." said another male lovebird.
"Well, thanks for helping us." Kion said to the dogs.
"You are quite welcome, Kion. How are you all fairing?"
"Just fine." said Fuli. In a teasing voice, she said: "and Kion's got a girlfriend now."
The cub flushed, and the two wild dog leaders gasped with excitement. "Girlfriend?" he said, looking a little embarrassed. "She's not my girlfriend."
"Why did you kiss then?" Fuli asked.
"Well... it was... I was nuts."
"Come on, Kion." said Veya. "It's nothing to be embarrassed about. I think it is really adorable."
"Well... we only recently met, and I'm still a little confused if she is actually my girlfriend or not." Kion stated. "I mean, the kiss was nice."
"Kion, it is perfectly alright." Akilah said. "Love is a beautiful thing. Of course, it cannot be rushed."
Kion was silent for a moment and then Fuli said: "ah, come on, Kion. I was just kidding with you. Come on, smile."
The cub ultimately chuckled and smirked. "Okay, okay. But I don't want to he too fast on her." he admitted: "I know they don't like it when it moves too fast."
"You are right on that one." Siyabonga remarked. "Yoy just need to let it come you to you naturally. As long as you do not stay up all night thinking about her."
"Pfft, that's ridiculous." said Ono. "Kion is way smarter than that."
"I can help you understand what she would like." Akilah offered, "and my wife too."
"All you have to do is be yourself. That's all a girl wants." Veya added. "And they like honesty."
"I see. Thanks for the help. I... might find you if I need tips." the wild dogs smiled gratefully.
"Don't forget about us." said Neeni.
"We are lovebirds after all." Siyabonga added. "The name love in bird is a dead giveaway."
The kids laughed and they bid their friends bye to go one another patrol. As patrolling, Bunga heard something rustling in the tall grass. A small growling was heard, and it was not a good sound at all. A predator was stalking all five of them.
"Who's there?" Beshte called.
As the kids waited in silence, they waited for something scary to pop up. Something grasped Kion and it was a face from yesterday. "We meet again, Kion!" it was Mjinja. Yes, he was back, and this time, Adewale wasn't there to save the cub this time.
