It was hitting hard in the Pride Lands eith the rain and storms hitting the whole soil and grass. Luckily, for the lions that ruled over these lands, they had the caves within Pride Rock and it would give them shelter from the pouring rain outside. Kion was looking out at the cave entrance and stared at the drops of water coming down from the dark clouds, almost making it spooky for him to think about.

But he was a powerful cub, and he faced great dangers over the days as the leader of the Lion Guard. The last thing he wanted was: getting his fur and small mane wet from the rain, for it was pouring and probably going to fill the lakes and rivers once this all stops.

Deep down, Kion wondered and hoped that Bunga, Fuli, Beshte, Ono, Kifaru, and other friends of his were doing okay in this weather. He wanted to go out and make sure they had shelter, if not for the waters pouring on Pride Rock, he would have done it in a heartbeat, but it looked horrible outside, and his parents would disapprove of him doing something like that. For now, he can just stay here and just try and relax and take it easy.

"Are you doing alright, Kion?" asked Nala

"Just fine mom." Kion replied flatly. "I'm just hoping that my friends are okay in the rain." He let out a small breath.

"Don't worry about them," said Nala. "They're alright, I know it." she sat down next to him.

"Mom, do you know when the rain will go away?" Kion said

"I have no idea, to be honest. Probably tonight, or tomorrow morning. We'll just have to wait and see what happens."

"Looking at the rain, Kion?" asked Simba, who walked up to him and laid next to him on the other side.

"Yep. Just watching the rain." Kion replied. "I mean, look at it out there."

"I concur, but it's a good thing, because there will be more water for all the animals to drink, and it's that time of season again. Besides, we will have more water here than we can imagine last season."

"I know, dad. I know." Kion replied. "But I'm a little bummed because I didn't get to tell Rani how I felt. Why did the rain have to ruin it?"

"Come on, Kion," the king smirked. "The rain is just doing its job."

"Yeah. I got that." He sighed and laid his chin on his arms. "Although, I'm still conflicted if I still love her or not."

"Like we said," Nala stated, "you and Rani are still young, and you still have plenty of time to think about each other."

"Yeah, just wait until the rain stops, which will probably be tomorrow."

"Gotcha."

Suddenly, some complaining was heard in the distance and two figures approached the entrance. It was none other than Timon and Pumbaa, looking very wet from the rainfall and as soon as they arrived inside the cave, they got themselves comfy.

"Timon, Pumbaa, what are you doing here?" Simba smirked.

"Ah! We just needed a place to take a break from the rain for a while, Simba." Timon replied. He felt the red warthog shake his fur to dry himself of, much to the meerkat's dismay. "Gah, Pumbaa!" Said Timon, who looked wetter than ever, thanks to his best friend.

"Sorry. I did ya a favor, Timon. Otherwise I would stink right now."

"You mean besides your farting?"

"Well... yes." Pumbaa replied. "But hey, at least we're out of the rain, pal."

"Yeah, true. So how goes things?"

"I tried asking out a girl before the rain started." Kion relied "but I'll get that chance again."

"Ooh, ole Kion's growing up so fast." Timon sang.

"I'm happy for ya, Kion. Bunga told us that you got a girlfriend. Although, he wasn't so sure at first," said Pumbaa, "but I guess it's true!"

"You guys going to stay her for the night?" Asked Nala

"Nah, we just came here to take a small break from the rain." Timon replied.

"Yeah, we do like the rain, but we didn't expect it to hit this hard."

Kion got up, stretched, and he walked over to where Zira and Vitani were, and Zazu flew after him. "Kion," said the hornbill, "you're not thinking of just strolling out there, are you? Because I would deeply advise you not to do so."

"Relax, Zazu." said Kion. "You and I both know that I'm not like my dad."

"Right." Zazu remembered, "no, you are not. No, your father was one to break the rules at time when he was a cub, and all the pouncing lessons that he and his father would use on me for practice. Come on, couldn't they just do that with another bird? Or a decoy to say the least?"

"Calm down," Kion rolled his eyes. "Dad doesn't do that anymore."

"Heh. Thank heavens, too. I mean, I hold your father in the highest regard, but I could not bare the pouncing lessons any longer." then he was coughing a little.

Kion looked concerned for the major domo, and he asked: "what's wrong, Zazu?"

"Nothing. Nothing at all, Kion." said the hornbill. "I'm just... not as young as I used to be." and he coughed a little more."

"You're not sick, are you?"

"No, no, no, don't worry about me, my boy. I will still he around for a little longer." he gave Kion a pat on the side with his right wing. "So you do not have to worry about me."

"Who will take your place when you die?"

"Oh, don't think about that, my boy." Zazu said. "I may be old, but I still have it in me to be the Major domo for your parents."

"I see." the cub yawned and he looked like he was getting sleepy right now. Alas, it was almost the evening, and the clouds were dark enough to look like nighttime, but without the moon, or stars shining in the sky.

Deep down, he wondered about his stronger enemies, especially the deranged Ramses the unhinged lion. He was certainly not like Janja or Reirei. No, he is way more determined to crush or ki his enemies than any hyena or jackal that is an enemy of Kion. He could be out there, plotting his next, smarter, and determined attempt to kill Kion and get his revenge, and he would probably kill his friends, too.

Still, most lions were not big fans of the rain, and Rsmses himself was taking shelter from the pouring rainfall as most animals would. Although lions tolerated the rain becaue it helps them get shelter from the sun, they didn't really like all this pouring rain hitting the earth itself, and the same for the Lion's Bane as well.

"What are you thinking about, Kion?" Kiara asked him, who happened to be in front of him. Kion must have been thinking so deep in his hypothesis, he didn't even notice his big sister just in front of him. "Are you okay?"

"Oh yeah, yeah. I'm hoping that Ramses, and my other foes are out of action because of the rain here."

"Ah, I'm sure that they are." said Zira. "I have seen how many animals act when there is heavy rainfall. Granted, there is not enough rain in the Outlands as there is here, but you get the idea. I am certain that it is too wet for those brutes to try and law a claw on you."

"Besides, who would be stupid enough to break into Pride Rock?" Kiara said, "even when all of us lions are in here? It would he like thirty of us and only one against Ramses."

"Kiara is right, sweetie." said Zira. "They know that coming in here with all of us lions is here is certifiable."

Suddenly, a large clap of thunder was heard outside and it lasted for about two seconds, scaring Kion a little. He immediately got under Kiara and he was shaking a little.

"Kion, you're not scared of a little rain, are you?" she smirked.

"N-no! I mean. It just... I mean..."

"Oh, it's okay, Kion." Kiara said, kneeling down on her belly and snuggling her brother close to her. "I'll keep you safe through the night if you want."

"Well, I couldn't ask you to do that." Kion said.

"Really, I don't mind."

A few hours passed and it was getting darker and darker outside, except for the flashes of lightning that would go off every once in a while like ticking time bombs in the cloudy sky. Timon and Pumbaa had got back out and left Pride Rock, and Zazu was perching in a line branch inside the cave where no predator could reach him.

Most of the lions were tucking themselves in, and the royal family snuggled close together. Kion was more tired than ever and Kiara was humming him to sleep so that he wouldn't be scared of the lightning and thunder.

Not only that, but she cuddled him in her arms like his own blankets so he wound be warm through the night. Yes, she was happy to do this for her little brother again.

"Goodnight, Kion." said Kiara

He let out one last yawn before Kion said: "goodnight, Kiara." then he snoozed, and all of Pride Rock was asleep.
