Chapter 4: The Cursed Dungeon.
The darkness cloaked the night sky, with clouds blocked even the mighty moon, as down in the forest, a bonfire was lit.
It has been two days since Markus and Nariko had taken care of Berkon and his demons. Since then, they have been taking care of demons that either were part of the job, or randomly came in their path. After taking down a large, but weak demon terrorizing a village, Markus and Nariko decided to set their camp there and call it a day.
Nariko is currently cooking a stew of meat and mushrooms, as Markus, his back lay on a tree, thinking of the events two days ago.
"That Berkon, wasn't a demon unlike Giro. Meaning that not everyone Nightmare encounters turns into a demon." Markus thought, as he looked up the night sky. "Something must have happened when Nightmare and Berkon meet. He must have put some spell, or something inside of Berkon, otherwise he wouldn't have died when he was about to spill the beans." Markus thought.
"Luckily, I hope these men from the Magic Council may find something out. Despite their arrogant nature, they always want to help us when someone threatens their power and position." Markus thought, as he then got up and walked towards Nariko at the campfire.
"And it didn't happen to Giro when I asked him about Nightmare, meaning he truly didn't know where Giro was." Markus thought as he sighed. "This is gonna be a lot tougher than I thought." Markus thought and then sat down beside Nariko.
"So, Nariko. The stew´s going great?" Markus asked. "Yes, should be done about now." Nariko said. "Good to hear." Markus said, as Nariko prepared a bowl of stew for Markus, handing it over. "Be careful, it's warm." Nariko said. "You´re telling that to one who breathes flames literally hot as the flames of his mouth." Markus said.
"Well, sorry for my concern." Nariko said, and Markus took a spoon to taste it. "Huh, this is quite good." Markus commented. "Thank you, I have been practicing it for quite some time." Nariko said, blowing the steam off the bowl, before she took a spoonful.
A moment of silence was between Markus and Nariko, as they ate the stew Nariko had cooked for them, until she decided to break the silence.
"Tell me, are you going somewhere?" Nariko asked. "What?" Markus said confused. "With you wandering around, are you thinking about going to a guild? Demon Hunters may hunt independently, but when in need of money, they can take Demon Hunter jobs that the guilds have. Do you have any ideas?" Nariko asked, as Markus was silent before he spoke.
"Well, for starters, I have been thinking of becoming part of a guild, Fairy Tail." Markus said. "Fairy Tail?! The number one guild in this country?!" Nariko said in a surprised. "Yep, but then, I have doubts about it time to time." Markus said.
"Why? You know they accept anyone in their guild." Nariko said.
"It's not that simply." Markus said. "Do you have guild you want to be in?" Markus asked.
Nariko was silent for a moment, as her eyes shadowed, memories of a Fairy Tail emblem flashing before her eyes. But she quickly shook her head and got back to reality.
"Not yet, but I am thinking of Mermaid Heel. I am still not sure." Nariko said, going back in eating the stew. Markus looked blankly at her, but then sighed and went to eat the stew as well.
"Say, you have taken down pretty of demons recently, haven't you?" Nariko said. "Yeah, I have." Markus said. "I bet you must have taken down a lot, with the rumors spreading about you." Nariko said. "Well, with most of them being Rank Six and Rank Five, as well some Rank Four." Markus said. "Well, with your reaction to that earlier, it proved you handled Rank Four demons before." Nariko said. "Until today, I only fought one Rank Four demon Myself." Nariko said.
"I see. You do know these ranks have a meaning, right?" Markus said.
"Of course, even if I didn't have the education you Zyrdacks had, I have knowledge of the demon ranks." Nariko said, as she began to explain.
"Rank Six, are Demons who are threat to a house to a street at max. Rank Five are those are to endanger a village. Rank Four are those who are an able to level a town, while Rank Three are to have the power to take down a city without problems." Nariko explained.
"With Rank Two demons are strong enough to take on an entire country. And the demons of Rank One are those whose power is enough to shake entire continents." Markus said.
"And from what we been fighting before, it sure would be scary to see what even a Rank Three Demon can do." Nariko said. "But you wont back down for that?" Markus said. "Of course not. I am not one who runs from a battle that easily." Nariko said.
"Yeah, I agree. Whatever fate have in store for, I am not one to go down that easily." Markus said, as he began to lie down in his camping kit.
"But for now, let's get some sleep. We need to make sure to get enough rest for tomorrow, right?" Markus said.
Nariko was still silent, as he watched Markus going to sleep. "I don't blame you, with what you have been through." Nariko said. "I will guard the fire, as we will take turns, right?" Nariko said. "Of course, which is why I gonna sleep beforehand, as you can sleep the rest of the night." Markus said, as Nariko nodded in agreement.
Hours went one, as Nariko took the guard of the campfire, eventually she switched with Markus, with him watching the fire, as Nariko went to sleep.
Markus watched the bonfire that was lit before him, watched the flames dancing before his eyes.
Markus suddenly saw a flesh before his eyes, as despite being only for a second, he could see it clearly, being dead bodies, mutilated and covered in blood.
The burnt, black wood of the flames then began to form into faces, glowing golden from their eyes, mouth and nose.
Markus eyes were widened like saucers, as then voices were heard.
"You left us to die..."
"Weren't we your comrades...?"
"You abandoned us..."
The flames of the bonfire began to form hands, multiple and moved towards Markus, grabbing him by the arms and legs, and pulling him wards.
The flames began to form into the upper body in the form of a robe, as the faces then began to form a faces began to move on top of it, chanting as Markus was brought closer and closer, to horrified to even speak.
"You never came..."
"You let us die..."
"Now, you are going to join us..."
Markus snapped his eyes opened, as he saw an incubus right before his face, its tentacles ensnaring him. In the next second, Nariko impaled the demon with her katana, right on the ground.
"An Incubus? Don't tell me we rested near battlefield." Nariko said, as Markus got up as he looked at around the area.
"Sure this area is big enough for a camping spot, but barely for a battlefield. Incubus can be born from different kind of slaughter." Markus said, as a realization came to his head.
"We better move, now!" Markus said. "What? Why?!" Nariko said in confusion. But before Markus could answer her, the ground beneath them suddenly began to move. "Dammit, too late!" Markus said, as then a large, red rune, in the form of a pentagram, a star in a circle, began to glow beneath them.
The ground began to shake, before it began to crack open, as Markus and Nariko fell down the hole, screaming as they fell down.
A bright, red flash was shown, but only for a second, and when it died down, it shown the scene as if nothing had happened at all.
With Markus and Nariko, they were falling down the hole; Markus took out his giant sword, and then grabbed Nariko.
"Hold on tight!" Markus said, as he proceeded to impale the wall with the wall, slowly down the fall, until they stopped completely.
"Well, that's just great. I never expected the new day to begin like this, before it even started." Nariko said with sarcasm, while holding onto Markus. "Well, I know way better starts than hanging here all day." Markus said, as he saw an opening on the wall, on the other side.
"There´s an opening. Know any way you can go there without..." Markus said, but Nariko let go of him, jumped towards the opening, and landed in one go.
"...falling down the hole of endless death? Don't worry; I have been falling down cliffs and holes before in my life." Nariko said, jumped towards the opening as well.
"Well, you continue to surprise for every turn." Markus said, as he and Nariko began to walk down the corridor.
"I have met quite surprises in my days as a Demon Hunter too." Nariko said.
They looked around as they waked, as the rock brick walls, roof and floor seemed to go forever, with torches of fire that never went out, with the corridors seemingly going forever.
"This dungeon isn't your ordinary dungeon." Markus said. "Yeah, I agree. No ordinary dungeon would take anyone it come across and take it with them." Nariko said. "It's known as a cursed dungeon. Used by dark wizards or the cults, where they are performing wicked rituals, torturing kidnapped victims and sacrifice whatever they came across for their wicked acts." Markus explained.
"This is the first time I´ve been inside one." Nariko said. "Yeah, I have been in these before. This is the third time being in as well." Markus said. "I bet you aren't much of a fan in these Cursed Dungeons." Nariko said.
"Yeah, those often pop out when you least expect them, or are to take part in these jobs." Markus explained as they walked the corridors. "They are all different from each other, but will contain demons that reside within these walls." Markus said, as they eventually saw an opening leading to a large room, even if it was a bit far away.
"Demon or not, wouldn't they die of starvation if they didn't have nourishment?" Nariko said. "Yeah, but if they so, they are to eat the bugs or spiders, even themselves if needed." Markus said as he and Nariko went towards the opening. "Wouldn't that make them all disappear?" Nariko said. "Yes, but knowing them, they were to have a Spawner close by." Markus said, turning to her.
"But you aren't off for a challenge, are you?" Markus asked with a grin, and Nariko smiled. "Don't worry; I am not one to run off challenges easily." Nariko said, as she and Markus entered the large room.
The large hallway they were now in, were big enough to be an area with many torture tools spread out, as the roof had a chandelier hanging from the roof.
On the floor, there were several pieces of armor and helmets with cage-like structures. Close to them, were weapons like cleavers, round, spiked shields, or swords.
They walked in the area, as Markus grabbed the handle of his great sword, while Nariko grabbed the handle of her katana.
Either of them said a word as they walked in the corridor, quiet.
That unless if you counted a charging, empty set of armor charging with its two swords at Markus, who swung his giant sword, smashing the incoming, empty, walking armor into pieces. A soul came out of the pieces the cage like armor, wailing out in horror.
"Well, it seems they had a present in store for us here." Markus said, as more and more of the metallic armor began to walk up, holding weapons being the shields, swords and cleaver, with some holding no weapons at all.
"I never seen this kind of demon before." Nariko said. "They are known as Finis, souls who have suffered from gibbetting, are now trapped within the armor their body was in, either alive or already dead." Markus said.
"They even did gibbeting in dungeons like these? I thought it was a way to punish criminals like thieves to discourage people from doing crimes after being hanged? They even kept them alive to make it more frightening?" Nariko said.
"It seems the dark wizard or whoever was in this place used it on experimenting on their victims, to make their own set of soldiers, who could go on without exhaustion. I heard it from a rumor." Markus said. "This place must where they were testing it then." Nariko said, as the incoming Finis demons came at them, with Markus and Nariko standing in a battle position.
One Finis demon tried to slash him with his dual swords, which Markus blocked with his great sword, before deflecting the blades, raised his swords and then smashed it to pieces.
A trio of Finis demon came towards Markus, as he held his sword, back, proceeded to making sent his attack at him.
"Fire Devil´s Blade: Hell Crescent!" Markus said, sending a crescent formed slash of blue fire at them, sending them all ablaze!
The Finis demons fell down the ground with the fire burning their armor-like bodies, as more Finis demons came at Markus in a surrounding manner.
"No stopping? Then, how about this?" Markus said, as he swung his sword around himself, as a red ring of flames were created around him.
The Finis demons were charging at him, but before they could come at him, a stream of blue flames came and struck the Finis Demons, setting all ablaze.
Markus walked past their burnt bodies, looking after Nariko.
"You doing fine, Nariko?" Markus asked, as he saw Nariko fighting some Finis demons.
She cut the head of Finis demon, before she jumped over another that tried to stab her with its dual swords, whom she proceeded to slash from behind.
A group of five Finis demons came charging towards her, but she wasn't gonna be fazed by that, as she prepared her next attack.
"Abyss Devil´s Blade: Moon Storm!" Nariko said, as she slashed her sword before her rapidly, as several slashes of purple energy came at her enemies, slashing them to pieces.
Another Finis demon came at her, whom she swung her sword to cut it in half.
"Abyss Devil´s Blade: Dark Light!" Nariko said, as one of the Finis demons threw its shield at Nariko, as the spinning shields came like buzz saws at her, but she managed to dodge them as she jumped in the air, and as she landed, the spinning blade came back at her, attempting to cut her from behind. But she stopped it with her swords, as it managed to hold it still while it spun.
More Finis demons came charging at her with their dual swords, but Nariko made a flip towards it, as the spinning shield-buzz saw then came flying towards them, cutting them into pieces, eventually going back to the Finis demons which threw the shields, cutting it two pieces as well!
Nariko didn't faze as more Finis demons came at her.
At the same time, Markus swung his sword at another group of Finis demons, as they were shattered to pieces.
"Damn, there is no end to them. And I don't think it will end with just Finis demons." Markus thought.
"Knowing Cursed Dungeons, they have more than just one type of Demons." Markus thought, and then turned to Nariko.
"Nariko! I know this sounds like a coward´s move, but we need to run! They won't stop coming, and these demons intend to tire us out, and then take us down through numbers!" Markus said, striking down another Finis demon.
"I see. Then can you cut a path for us?" Nariko said, cutting of the arms and head of another Finis demon.
"It should work, but make sure to stand back!" Markus said, as he raised his sword in the air, covering it in blue flames. Markus turned to the see the gate, guarded by a group of Finis demons.
"Fire Devil´s Blade: Hell Crescent!" Markus said, as he swung the sword down, as a slash of blue flames cut down any Finis demon in its path, disintegrated by the flames. The blue flames' slash eventually cut down the gate as well into pieces.
"Alright, let's go, Nariko!" Markus said, as he landed on the ground, with Nariko nodding as she followed him.
As they cut down any Finis demon that came in his path, one Finis demon jumped towards Markus, with its chest opened, and trapped him within itself!
"Markus!" Nariko stopped on her tracks and cut down the Finis demons around herself.
Markus felt the Finis Demon trying to absorb its Magic energy as it began to glow, but Markus grinned.
"Don't worry; I have just the thing for this." Markus said, as he covered himself in blue flames, as a bright flash emitted, destroying the Finis demon that trapped into pieces.
The blast sends the other Finis demons away, with Nariko managing to stand on her ground, as she saw that Markus was once free again.
"Are you okay? Sorry if that hurt you." Markus said. "I don't need you to apologize for being hurt." Nariko said, and Markus turned around to run, with Nariko following him.
"It's not over yet however. There is often more than one layer of Cursed Dungeons, with more than one type of demon." Markus said, as he and Nariko went running in the corridors.
"With things being this easy, then it should be obvious that things as easy when you think." Nariko said, running alongside Markus in the corridors.
Soon enough, they were in another hallway, this one having several pillar surrounding itself, at the center was a fountain with water running.
"It seems that our next stop will right at the end of this corridor." Markus said.
"And it's awfully quiet here." Nariko said, as behind the pillars, dark figures were climbing and crawling behind them, before one of them jumped towards Nariko, who cut the demon´s head off.
The headed demon and its head landed on the ground. "Should have thought they have more demons here." Markus said, as more demons crawled out of the pillars, landing before them.
These demons were jet-black in color, had white, pupil less eyes, simian in appearance, sharp fangs and emitted black smoke from its back.
"Msira, Rank Four demons. Avatars of greed and savagery, mutated forms of those who have been consumed by evil." Markus said, as the Simian demons surrounded Markus and Nariko, more and more appearing around them.
"I am sure they aren't happy to have unexpected visitors." Nariko said. "I agree. Not as guests, but as their food." Markus said, as one of them lunged towards them, with Markus slicing it in half, with its halves disintegrating before it reached the floor.
More Msira lunged towards them, with Markus and Nariko charging towards them with their swords at the Msira demons, prepared to slice them.
One Msira came lunging towards Markus, who cut it in half with his sword, as two Msiras lunged towards him.
Markus wasn't fazed, as he charged his sword with blue flames, this time in the form of a pair of wings.
"Fire Devil´s Blade: Scorching Wings!" Markus said, as he slashed with his sword, cutting the two Msira in half.
Suddenly, a fire blast came at Markus, who turned around and was struck in the face by it!
"Markus!" Nariko screamed, as Markus stood still on the ground, but didn't fall over, as in his mouth, he had the fire blast in his mouth. He preceded take in its mouth, chomp it down and shallow it like it was piece of bread. "It's alright; I'm a Fire Devil Slayer after all." Markus said, as he watched who had fired the fire blast.
It was another Msira, only this had orange flames emitting from its body, most notably from its back, and didn't seem fazed by being burned at all, along with the other burning Msira around himself.
"Fire Msira, a fire elemental version of the original Msira, representing the burning desire its victims once had." Markus said, as more Fire Msira entered the scene.
"It seems we have more types of Msira incoming." Markus said. "I agree." Nariko said, as Msira who had nothing on their backs, and stood on two legs, were surrounding her.
One of them began to spit a purple liquid from its mouth, which Nariko dodged on instinct, and it hit the ground, it began to bubble and hiss as it melted the stone floor.
"Venom Msira, who generates and spits deadly venom from its ill-natured resentment." Markus said, as he sliced down another Fire Msira coming at him.
"These never ran out of surprises, are they?" Markus said, as Nariko remained unfazed by the Venom Msira, who hanged their tongues out.
"These demons have an advantage at close combat and are able to send long range attacks." Nariko thought, as she dodged the next spits of venom.
One tried to slash her with its claws from behind, but Nariko was faster, as she managed turn to it, and then cut off its right arm before impaling it through the throat.
It disintegrated as another one came towards her, but she proceeded to land a kick, with her foot covered in purple darkness.
"Abyss Devil´s Hoof!" Nariko said, doing a one hundred degree kick, landing it right at the demon´s abdomen, sending it straight to a pillar, cracking it to pieces upon impact.
Before the Msira could attack her, Nariko went to cut its head of, and then did a full three hundred sixty spin as she cut off the heads of the incoming Msira demons that charged at her.
"Abyss Devil´s Blade: Moon Ring!" Nariko said, as the heads of the Msira Demons fell to the ground, with the heads and their bodies began to turn into smoke.
A trio of Msira demons began to spit venom at her, but she managed to dodge it with her speed, as she then slashed her sword.
"Abyss Devil´s Blade: Dark Light!" Nariko said, sending a slash of purple energy at the group of Msira Demon, with most of them managing to dodge it, but one was cut in half.
The Venom Msira who survived went to charge at Nariko, who sliced them in half one by one, including normal Msira.
At the same time, Markus was fighting normal Msira, Fire Msira and Venom Msira, dodging spits of venom coming at him.
He took a deep breath and sends a blast of flames at the Venom Msira, disintegrating them on the spot.
Another one came at him from behind, but he elbowed it and then punched it in the face with a fist on flames.
"Damn, there are no ends to them either." Markus said, as a group of Fire Msiras fired blasts of flames at him, whom he managed to devour without any problem, before he swung his sword, slicing them all in half before impaling another one.
Markus then turned Nariko. "Nariko, I think it's time we should move to the next room! Unless you wanna stay here for a bit longer, of course." Markus said. "I kinda think I have enough with these for now." Nariko said, as she and Markus went to run towards the gates, with the Msira chasing after them. Just as they were right before the gates, Markus suddenly stopped and turned to them.
"Markus, what are you doing?!" Nariko said. "Just giving them a farewell gift." Markus said, as he took a deep breath, and sent a large stream of deep blue flames at the group of Msira demons.
"Fire Devil´s Rage!" Markus said, as the Msira demons were set on flames. The Msira were rolling down the ground in an attempt to pull out the flames in vain, as the other Msira fled away from the scene, with some of them having either been burned in half.
"Well, that should keep them busy." Markus said, as he and Nariko turned to the gates, which then suddenly opened before them.
"Well, it seems even the dungeons doesn't want us here anymore." Nariko said. "Either that, or they must be very confident in their security here." Markus said, as he and Nariko went towards inside. As they went inside, the white bandages wrapped around the blade of Markus large sword, before putting it on his back, while Nariko re-sheathed her katana.
"And you seem fine in going in just fine?" Nariko said. "Well, the sooner we are out of here, the better. But this is actually the first time this happened to me." Markus said, without turning to Nariko.
"Meaning they must be very confident in whatever they in store for us." Markus said, as he and Nariko walked through the corridors of the hallway.
"Meaning there will be something stronger than the Finis Demons and the Msiras." Markus said, as Nariko remained unfazed.
Time went on, the closer the walked to the other end, Nariko could feel herself becoming colder, shivering as her breath could be seen.
"Strange." Nariko said. "What?" Markus said, turning to her. "Is it just me, or is it getting colder here?" Nariko said. "Well, I don't feel the cold, being a Fire Devil Slayer." Markus said. "Well, not everyone is the Fire Devil Slayers." Nariko said.
"Well yeah, but with ice starting to appear, I can see what you mean." Markus said, as he and Nariko could see ice appearing around on the stone walls, floor and roof.
"What kind of demons lies next?" Nariko said. "I can think of more than one demon, I doubt any Cursed Dungeon would think numbers is enough to any strong intruders." Markus said.
Soon enough, they were entering through the end of the corridor, as they now were at a large hallway, which was covered with ice, sharp icicles hanging from the roof, and rising from the floor.
What got the attention the most, was a large statue of ice, standing on four legs, had three heads and has several chained spikes on attached to its back.
As Markus and Nariko walked towards the large ice statue, the area suddenly around began to shake like it was an earthquake.
"What's going on?" Nariko said, as then the statue began to crack, before then began to move.
Ice piece after ice piece broke apart, showing the statue as a giant, black-furred, three headed dog, with three heads, each having white eyes and a maw full of razor-sharp teeth.
With a mighty roar, the giant three-headed dog managed to push Markus and Nariko slightly away, who covered their ears.
It then began to glare down from its three heads, looking at the two Demon Hunters that stood before it.
"You shall not escape this place, Mortals! Anyone who comes pass me are fated to die by my jaws!" The giant three-headed demon dog said, with all the heads speaking at the same time.
"Well, well, well. This is the first time I see a giant dog, who is talking." Markus said. "It's a Cerberus: three-headed demonic dogs from the Underworld." Nariko said. "You know these things?" Markus said. "Yeah, but barely. I know they are either work as guard dogs for facilities or roam wildly. They are feared for their ferocity and power. They are Rank 4 in lowest number, being this one." Nariko said.
"You compare me to such a low rank? I have you know I am far greater than some measly Rank Four!" The Cerberus said. "Well, if your rank were higher, you should have broken free from these chains by now." Markus said.
"I´ll make you take those words back, you cockroaches!" The Cerberus declared, which then its middle head took a deep breath, and then unleashed a beam of ice at Markus and Nariko!
But the managed to dodge it by jumping at each opposite side, which instead struck the opening they both entered through.
Markus and Nariko took noticed of it, as they turned to the Cerberus.
"Well, now you have made us unable to escape. That's a good job, big boy." Nariko said. "And now you are trapped here with me! There will be no escape now!" Cerberus said.
"That's sad, because I thought we could take you out for a walk. What do you say, little puppy? Come on; let's take a walk shall we?" Nariko said, taunting the large demonic hound.
"You will regret those words, you cockroach!" Cerberus said. "That's one way to trigger it. I felt I could do better." Markus said. "You thought so?" Nariko asked. "Yeah, but didn't have any words right now." Markus said.
"But let's give this three-headed puppy a playtime it will never forget." Markus said, taking his large sword out. "Sounds good to me." Nariko said, taking out her katana of its sheath.
The Cerberus slammed its maw on the floor at Markus and Nariko, who dodged it by jumping away, as Markus then prepared to swing his sword.
The head of the left went to unleash a torrent of ice at Markus, as he took a deep breath as well.
"Fire Devil´s Rage!" Markus said, as he sent a blast of blue fire at the incoming ice blast, which managed to overpower the ice, which then struck the Giant Left Dog head.
It caused an immense amount of pain is it melted the ice away, showing its face being red from the head.
"You think that you can win over me easily, just because you melted my ice?!" Cerberus spoke through its left head; it was covered by a white energy, as it was once again covered in white ice.
"How´s that, cockroach?!" The Cerberus spoke again, this time from all its three heads.
"This puppy is tougher than we thought." Nariko said. "Then we should need a bigger leash for it." Markus said, as the giant demon dog swung its paw at him, which Markus blocked with his large sword, as it then sends him away, as he landed on his feet.
Nariko proceeded to jump into the air and prepared the next attack.
"Abyss Devil Blade: Dark Light!" Nariko said, as she sent a slash of darkness as one of its, striking it head on! She proceeded to send more slashes at it, one after another striking the right head of the Cerberus. More and more ice fell of its head, and Nariko then landed on the ground, dodging another one of its paws, as she then swung her sword and cut off its right paw off!
It roared in pain as blood came out of it paw, as Nariko then prepared her next move. "Why don't you try this for size?" Nariko said, as she pulled her sword back, gathering a large amount of purple energy on its blade. "Take this! Abyss Devil´s Blade: Night Claw!" Nariko said, as she swung her sword and sent a stream of powerful slash of purple darkness at the right head of the Cerberus, which was fully exposed from the ice.
The slash came faster than it covers itself with ice, as the dark slash cut its head right off! Blood came flowing out where the right head used to be, the severed head fell down the ground.
The Cerberus gave out a roar from with two remaining heads, as Markus proceeded to then make his next move.
"You think that´s painful? Wait till you taste this!" Markus said, as he jumped up in the air, covered his sword in blue flames. Markus then began to spin it, and at a fast speed, making it appears as a red buzz saw.
"Fire Devil´s Blade: Hell Spin!" Markus said, as the spinning blade then proceeded to cut one of the heads of the Cerberus!
Another one of its head flew off as it was cut by the spinning attack, as the Cerberus was now on one head.
Markus landed on the ground, as he pulled back his sword, coated in blue flames, while Nariko held her sword in a high guard position, covered in purple smoke.
The blue flames on Markus sword took the form of a pair of wings, while on the purple darkness on Nariko´s katana took of the form of a spinning drill.
The Cerberus grits his sharp teeth.
"Human scum, don't even think you can take me down that easily!" The Cerberus said, as it then took another deep breath, preparing to send another ice blast at them, but before it could do so, the two Demon Hunters proceeded to make their next move.
"Fire Devil´s Blade: Scorching Wings!" Markus said, as he then slashed his with his sword in blue flames at the Giant Dog.
"Abyss Devil´s Blade: Night Drill!" Nariko said as purple darkness span around her sword, with their attack striking the Cerberus, causing incredible damage to the Cerberus.
The Cerberus coughed up blood as it was pushed back, before falling on its feet.
"You... are not normal humans, are you?" The Cerberus said, as Markus and Nariko walked towards the Cerberus.
"Who knows? With things I have done, I am not so sure myself." Markus said, as the Giant Cerberus snickered.
"Both of you have shown to be worthy of passing through this way. You have my blessing." The Cerberus said, as it then glowed in a white light, which then dissolved into millions of pieces.
The gate was now fully exposed to Markus and Nariko, which then began to open before them.
It showed a hallway within a cave, which would lead them outside of the Dungeon, which the two Demon Hunters went to leave the dungeons immediately.
"Well, wasn't that quite the experience?" Markus said, and Nariko didn't say a word.
"What? Sorry if you didn't like it. It was the first time you were in a Cursed Dungeon, while I have been in three up to this day." Markus said, scratching his head.
"Well, it was quite the experience. I didn't die here at least." Nariko said.
"Trust me; the Cursed Dungeons are just one part of them many bat-shit crazy things a Demon Hunter experience daily." Markus said.
"You have to get used to it, if you want to be able to live, both in the battlefield, and when you need cash." Markus said.
"Don't expect me to afraid to be able to go through these challenges." Nariko said in a teasing tone. "Don't say I didn't warn you. Things aren't always gonna be easy." Markus said. "Because I thought things was gonna be easy, and boy I was wrong about it." Markus said, as he and Nariko walked through the cavern, out of the Cursed Dungeon and into what was gonna come next.
And with another chapter done, please review, favorite and follow. In this chapter, I introduced the ranking system of demons, in terms of strength, danger-level and notoriety, etc. I also took the liberty to show off more moves for Markus and Nariko, as I didn't want this chapter to be more like filler.
As you may have already noticed, I based the Demons of the Finis Demons and The Msira from Devil May Cry 2, while Cerberus from Devil May Cry 3. For the Msiria, I know the fire elemental Msiras names are Homromsira, and the Venom Msira Gbusmsira, but due to how hard their names are pronounced, so I decided to change their names for this story.
I know I had many Devil May Cry references as of recently, even though I said this story is Berserk-based. Don't worry, I will make sure of that, and will have other references to series, like Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and more.
But for now, I will make sure to update the story when I can, and until then, see you all later!
