A/N:
For a friend who randomly added me on MSN.
xX-Chi-Xx…
I own none.
The sun pelted down wavering heat as the two sat along the wall near the train station. It was a seemingly quiet day; with the sudden heat, not many wanted to go outdoors. But these two friends? Nah. They wanted to escape the daily routine and discuss the topics of the morning.
"She's the cutest girl in the world!" A woman proclaimed cheerfully, her golden hair wafting in the humid, airless breeze. "You have to meet her some day!"
"Hm…" Replied to a much younger, ginger haired boy. His eyes wandered to a bakery on the opposite side of the street. A car crossed his vision. He forgot about it. "How do you know she is the cutest?"
She always told him that she was the cutest. She could never really prove it though, much to his disgust. To him, saying things like that was useless if you had no proof. Just like the words which tore away at his heart.
"Because," She began. "When you're a mother, or a parent, to you, your child is the cutest of them all!"
The boy rolled his eyes. It was just like her to be so joyous, even though she is blanketing her anxiety and grief over the loss of her husband. The heat is what was making her delirious, he thought.
"Then why don't you put her in a stupid competition, or something'?" He asked, trying to get some sort of truth out of her. The woman suddenly felt stricken with some sort of pain. Her eyes glazed, she gently pushed herself from the wall.
"Ya know, I've never thought of that." She replied, after some thought. "Maybe I should."
"Yeah…" The boy sighed, now bored with the conversation. "Can I meet her some day?"
The woman was obviously suspecting he wanted to meet her for some time, since she never stopped talking about this girl. He face lightened up and she beamed.
"Of course!" She said, grinning crazily. "I just know you'll love her!"
"I'm sure…" He mumbled, still not convinced that someone could be as cute as the woman was trying to make him believe.
"Well," The golden haired woman said, with a click of her tongue. "I guess she's waiting for me. I wouldn't want to disappoint her, 'specially on her father's birthday!"
And with that, she strode away, a slight spring in her step.
"What is it with her?" He asked himself as he jumped off the station wall. As for him, well, he needed to go home too. If you could call where he was going a home.
