Heri was so glad to have recovered a large chunk of the buffalo meat he found many mile away from his home den. He knew his mate and kids will be happy to munch on the remains that he had secured. Reirei, Goigoi, and their dysfunctional family of jackals were a handful to take care of, but hyenas had a much better bite force than jackals had in their mouths. For most animals, they would just see jackals as pests and rats in dog form. These wild canines were also as clever as hyenas can, and they can use their own cunning for their own selfish benefits. Reirei and her entire family might be weaker than a lot of predators in Africa, but they were not stupid.

Coming all the way into the tunnel, his mate and children were happy and surprised to see the large chunk of meat that Heri had found before. "Goodness," said Belang. "This is quite a lot of meat that you found, Heri

"Thank you, Belang. It was a very lucky find. Although there were vultures eating it and i took some of this with me as a fair share. Although... I was a little sidetracked along the way." his family frowned, looking confused. "Rairei and her family of stupid jackals came and try to rob me blind of this food."

Belang had a look of disgust on her face. "Ugh, Those jackals are nothing but troublemakers."

"Tell me about it." Heri agreed with her. "Maybe not all jackals can be as sneaky and cunning as Reirei. Kinda like how Kion is friends with a few hyenas near his home range. I think her name is... Jasiri?"

"And Janja is no longer going to be a troublemaker, or his friends." Belang added

Kupendeza stopped eating her food and said: "But what about those jackals that might try to eat me and my brother?"

"Well, you don't really have to worry about them." Heri said to her. "Not as long as you stick with me and your mother here. Same with you, Ujinja. Although you need to be careful when walking near elephants. And rhinos, and hippos, and other large animals that might accidentally stomp on you if you aren't careful enough."

"Come on dad," said Ujinja. "We've been over this. We always give them some space so we won't get squished. We're smarter than we look."

Belang made a chuckle, and said: "You are both not wrong. Sometimes, you make us bite off more than we can chew. But you are just kids and you are justy trying to have fun."

"Yeah, we want to have as much fun as we want!" Kupenzeda leaped three times with enthusiasm.

"OK, okay. We know you kids want to have fun out there. But you have to remember that it's not always fun and games in the dangerous world out there. Kinda like those bad crows that tried to eat you both. It shows how dangerous the world can be."

"True." Ujinja. "But we still have to learn how to hunt and look for food on our own. And... we can't rely on you guys forever."

Both Heri and Belang looked sad to hear those words. "You're absolutely right." said Belang. "Someday when you get older, you will have to hunt food for yourselves and you will have to be extra careful. But don't worry, we'll teach you how to look for food and fend for yourselves in case there is any trouble."

"Some animals like Reirei and the jackals are opportunists and will do anything to get what they want, even if it means playing dirty or going against rules or standards. Those animals you need to be very careful with." Heri added. "But for now, you guys just eat up this meat. This can last us for a week or two. You guys are still kids and you should not worry about things too much."

Both kids were happy to hear that and they ate some more of the nice, juicy buffalo meat. There was still plenty of it after the family didn't feel like eating it anymore. Heri was playing with his striped hyena pups, and Belang joined in on the fun, playing some tag around the home den and having fun together. "I'm sure there was some meat I smelled somewhere." said a voice in a distance that sounded female. Every one of the striped hyenas stopped playing and looked to their right. and it was Jasiri, and her clan: Madoa, Wema, and Tuma. "My nose never fails me." Jasiri added. "my meat senses are tingling. It has to be dead."

"Oh, it's you." said Heri.

"Ah, Kion's new striped hyena friend." Jasiri recognized, with she and her clan members walking up to their slightly smaller cousins. "Heri, right?"

"Yes. And Jasiri, am I correct?"

"Yes you are."

Kupendeza and Ujinja kept close to their mother in case those spotted hyenas wanted to hurt them. They know how to be wary and cautious around strangers, although they briefly met at Pride Rock when Simba announced that Janja and his clan were on the side of good. "What brings you to our home?" asked Belang

"I cannot help but notice that there was a smell of a... dead animal close to where I was a little while ago." Jasiri said.

"And it smells so good." Madoa added.

"We want it! We want it!" said Wemu and Tuma.

"Oh, well, I found a nice big piece of dead buffalo and took it with me to feed my family and myself." Heri admitted.

"Ah! So that's what it was." Jasiri recognized it. "Well, can we share the meat with you? We haven't eaten any carrion in a number of days, and we are getting more and more hungry."

Heri and his family were reluctant about this, and the meat was originally Heri's claim. "Well, it's not that we do not want to share." he admitted, "But i found this myself and i wanted to feed it to my family. But I think that the rest of the buffalo is still there, a few miles north of here if you want to eat the rest."

The spotted hyena clan frowned, looking bummed.

"Oh. We understand." Madoa sighed.

"Well, I think we should give some of them to these spotted hyenas." Belang commented. "We're both hyenas. Sure, we're separate species, but it makes us practically family."

Heri still looked a little reluctant, but these hyenas were Kion's friends too, and anyone who is a friend of the young lion is a friend of Heri, whether it be hyena, jackal, or any other animal. "I guess we can give you some of it."

The clan of spotted hyenas smiled, and the two striped ones pulled out some of the remains from inside their den. As soon as they set their eyes off it, Jasiri and her close friends were already intrigued by the fresh meat. "This is perfect. Very remarkable." said Jasiri. "You weren't kidding when you said you were lucky to find this. Thank you all so much."

She sounded really grateful, then she and her comrades had their taste of the nice meat, and they ate for at least a few minutes, and they were all full. Only fifty-percent of the meat was left. "Thank you all again." said Madoa with gratitude.

"You're welcome." said Heri. "This is our gift to you in honor of our new friendship."

"Well, I guess we can return the favor to you all." Jasiri smirked

"How?"

"We can look around for some dead animal's meat and bring it back to you all."

"Oh you don't have to do that." Belang said

"It's the least we can do for new friends." Madoa added.
