It was a rather nice gesture for Jasiri and her clan of spotted hyenas to help out their new striped hyena friends: Heri and his whole family living together. Normally, striped hyenas tend to themselves and prefer to be alone (unless they are with mates or offspring), but Heri and his family were a group of good hyenas, as good and heroic as Jasiri and her cronies. Although getting a new piece of meat was not really necessary for Belang, Ujinja, and Kupendeza, Jasiri really wanted to make it up to them after eating a big chunk of the dead buffalo meat before while fairing in Heri's territory.

"I don't know if it was a good idea." said Belang. "There could be more pied crows or hidden cobras just waiting to shoot venom from their mouths."

Heri made a small scoff and replied: "Nah, Kion told me about Jasiri and her clan. They seem like strong hyenas. After all, admittedly, spotted hyenas are a little stronger than us striped ones. And while they might not find a dead buffalo like I just found, they can at least find something else as the next best thing, Belang. They are as tough as we are."

"True." Belang nodded her head. "If Kion said about that hyena is true, I believe him fully, dear. And to tell you something,"

"Yes, honey?"

"Me and the kids were there fighting the corrupted Pride Landers under Inuwa's spell of being turned evil."

Heri looked surprised. "Wait, what? I thought I told you guys to stay put when Inuwa attacked the Pride Lands. I didn't want you all to get hurt. I know some of those animals were under Inuwa's control, but they still could have killed you, and I don't know what I would be without you, Belang, Ujinja, Kupendeza. I would be nothing without my lovely family in my life."

"I know you told us not to go fight with the others, but we were worried about you and we didn't want you to get hurt, or worse."

"We didn't want to lose you, daddy." Ujinja admitted, looking sad.

"We don't know what we would be without you." Kupendeza added.

"And besides, we did fight back real good." the male pup admitted, "And we didn't have a scratch on us."

"Yeah! Me and my brother against the world!"

Heri smiled and said: "Oh come here, you guys." His family did just that, and hugged him together as they huddled close to the patriarch of this small family. "If only that Reirei and Goigoi can be more like us."

"Ugh, I know." Belang agreed. "But, alas Heri, I don't think they will ever change."

"Sad and true, Belang." the male striped hyena moved his head sideways with his eyes closed. "Some animals just can't be reasoned or negotiated with. Animals like Inuwa or Scar. And, if you kids did say you fought well at the battle against Inuwa, i say: you're going to be great hyenas when you grow up."

Both hyena pups smiled hearing that. "Thanks dad." said the two kids.

Meanwhile, Jasiri, Madoa, Tunu, and Wema were out looking for some good meat out in the Outlands. Alas, this kind of place can be scarce on food at times. The buffalo that Heri let them all chew on was quite a rare find. "That was a good buffalo, Jasiri." Madoa said. "I still hope that Heri and his family didn't mind us having some of it."

"He said he was alright with it, Madoa." Jasiri said. They were walking many hundreds of yards where the striped hyena family lived at and after one-hundred more yards, they all found a dead springbok who had probably lost it's way from its brethren, and probably died of exhaustion after a long walk, along with the sun getting the best of the antelope. "A-ha!" said Madoa. "Looks like we found something nice."

"Yeah, it might not be nowhere as big as buffalo, but it will do. And it still looks fresh." Jasiri agreed. All the spotted hyenas went up to the dead antelope, and the largest hyenas picked it up with their strong, powerful mouths, but they had to hold on to it a little gently because they know that their jaws can break through bones. The two little ones followed the two big ones who were carrying the fresh carcass to their new friends. It was rather a pain to carry this medium antelope with their mouths like this.

"Guys, we can use your help by keeping it from dragging on the ground." Jasiri said, still holding on.

"OK!" said Tunu and Wema before going under the springbok and holding it on their back. A couple of vultures saw it, and began circling around the girls, hovering in midair.

"Come on, girls." said Madoa. "We can't give up now."

Indeed, they have already came a long way of carrying this poor soul that got unlucky. Nature can be quite unpredictable. More and more vultures were coming to where the hyenas were and they knew that these avians wanted the meet since it was dead. At least it wasn't Mzingo and his troublesome friends. They knew that if it was him, he and his comrades would have swooped down on the hyenas like arrows from a bow.

At last, they have arrived and the two strongest spotted hyenas placed the springbok on the ground, right in front of the striped hyena family. "Here you are!" Jasiri said. "I know it's not as big as a cape buffalo, but it's still nice and fresh. But you might want to keep it away from vultures sight, we saw a small flock coming here, wanting to eat some of the meat."

Heri and Belang smiled. "Thank you all so much." said Belang. "Don't you worry. We will keep it out of any intruders' sight."

"Yeah. Thank you all so much." Heri repeated. "This is a sign of a new relationship between us striped hyenas and spotted hyenas."

Meanwhile

In a far distance, in the Pride lands, Kifaru was happy to drink some water from a nearby waterhole where his father and crash of other rhinoceri were grazing at. There was also a large, wide lake where the waterhole connected to like a bayou. The water so clear and sparkling under the beautiful, round sun, and Kifaru was drinking from the waterhole for at least a few minutes. "Someday, when I grow up," Kifaru said to himself, "I want to be just like my dad, and Kion too." he looked at where Pride Rock was at a distance. "I wish I was in the Lion Guard."

Kifaru felt a little left out, because he and Kion were as close to him as his Lion Guard pals were to him, along with the wild dog pups, and other animals that were not exactly lions.

"I want to hang out with him some more. But I don't want to keep him from patrolling the Pride Lands with his friends." He thought deeper in his own head. There were always chances for him and Kion to play together and be good friends when the leader of the Guard himself was not busy patrolling or protecting innocent lives from evil animals. "Yeah, I would probably just get in the way." he looked at the water, in his own reflection.

Looking at himself at the waters, he thought of how funny it was to see his face being warped like this. In his head, he began wondering what it would be like to be a fish, frog, or a crocodile to look at the wonders under the water. Waterholes weren't peculiarly deep, but Kifaru was smart enough to know that rivers and large lakes can be really deep, depending on the fathoms. He also knew that when there are deep rivers, there are always dangers lurking. For all he knew, there could be crocodiles just waiting fo pounce on prey coming their way, especially wildebeest during migrating season.

Not only that, but there could some large tigerish lurking, and those kind of fish can be huge and dangerous, as they are Africa's definition of a Piranha. Still, this lake was rather shallow and didn't have any of those creatures (although crocodiles can stray from rivers and gigantic lakes, so Kifaru always had to be careful to make sure no crocs were watching and stalking him to make their move).

Alas, Kifaru had enough water to drink and he went back to his crash and father. All these white rhinos were still grazing and going around their business. "Did you get enough to drink, son?" asked Chikelu

"I did, dad."

"Good. Were you careful?"

"Yeah dad. I did. I doubt any hyenas would want to eat me. Besides, Janja and his friends are not bad guys anymore."

"True. I just worry about you, Kifaru. Someday, when you are old enough, you will be leading your own crash of rhinos to take care of, and have your own calf whent he time is right."

"Yep."

"Well, that is a shame." said a male voice that sounded a little gruff, and a little less lower than Chikelu's booming voice. Every one in the crash looked over to their left in the south, and there was a large, male white rhinoceros came and he was about the same size as the crash's leader. One difference was that, his horns were wider and heavier than a usual rhino's horns on their noses. He had yellow eyes that made him look more intimidating and he had a few scars on his back and sides of his torso. "Chikelu, I challenge you for dominance over your crash."

Chikelu stood his ground and had a look of anger on his face. "Looks like I have a trespasser in me and my family's territory." he said, narrowing his eyes at the challenger. "Who are you?"

"Call me Ukhohlakeke." said the tough challenger. "I want all these ladies for myself, and I doubt that you would let me have them. I crave power and dominance, and I want everyone to do what I say."

The leader of the crash growled and said: "This is our territory and you need to leave, Ukhohlakeke. I can give you a chance to leave here in peace."

"Ha! Not likely." said Okhohlakeke. "I'm looking for a beautiful lady to... you know, and I plan to kill you and your son."

"No way!" said Chikelu. "The only way my son would fall is over my dead body!"

"My plan exactly." the challenger rhino gave an evil smile. The others could tell that he was an unstable and bloodthirsty type of large mammal. Alas, all the other rhinos in the leader's crash formed behind him and were ready to kick this maniac out of their land.

"I'll take care of him for you." said Cheelai, one of the female rhinos willing to back up the leader.

"No!" Chikelu stopped her. "I will deal with this, Cheelai. This is my fight."

"Be careful, dad!" said Kifaru

"I will, my son."

Both the large male rhinos looked and circled around each other. Everyone knew that it was going to be a serious grudge match. After one long minute, the two rhinos charged at one another, locking their horns at one another. Both were trying to push their opponents tot he ground, and the Chikelu rammed his horn against Okhohlakeke, hitting his torso, and making him flinch, then he charged at hime again, knocking him to the dirt.

At first, it looked like Chikelu was the victor, but his rival was up again and he charge at his rival when he isn't looking. Chikelu felt a sharp pain as he was knocked down, but he held his own ground and they were trying to pierce each other's eyes with their sharp horns.

Dirty was swirling around the two rhinos as they were running and trying to gore one another. Okhohlakeke had a dirty trick up his sleeve and kicked some dirty in his opponent's eye, blinding and distracting him. It gave him the perfect opportunity to knock him down and he was about to kill him. "Looks like this crash is mine! And now, you will die."

"NO!" Kifaru exclaimed before charging at his father's rival with rage. He was gritting his teeth and running at full speed. At first, Okhohlakeke looked confused, but realized that this calf was playing no games.

"Oh no!" the bloodthirsty rhino exclaimed before he felt his right side being pierced by Kifaru's rather small but shark horn. This calf looked pretty scary when he was angry and he was huffing through his nose.

"No one hurts my dad!" the calf exclaimed.

"Well, you think you're tough, eh?" Okhohlakeke said

"I don't think, I know." Kifaru charged at him again, hit the right side of the challenger's face, like a battering ram, and knocking Okhohlakeke into the dirt. "Now get out of here!"

His face was slightly bruised and mildly bleeding from the force of the charge, in fact, the challenger almost lost his right eye. "Curse you, kid!" he said.

"You heard my son." said Chikelu. "Leave now." he went to his son's side and he was ready to finish off his opponent in a matter of seconds.

"Grrrr. This isn't over yet, Chikelu. You hear me? I will have my revenge." Okholakeke snarled before running out of the territory. Everyone cheered for Kifaru for his act of great courage and his father gently nuzzled him.

"You did well, my son."

"Thanks dad. Are you okay?"

"Yes, thanks to you." Chikelu replied.

"You're a hero, Kifaru!" said one of the males of the crash.
