(MAL'S POV)
It was now Monday and Evie and I were heading down for breakfast. I didn't get the chance to see Ben yesterday because he had council meetings all day and by the time they were over I was already asleep, but that didn't stop him from texting me here and there throughout the day. But the one I woke up to warmed my heart.
Bubsy to Mal: Hey, Mal. My last meeting just ended, but you are probably asleep. I just want to tell you goodnight and I can't wait to see you tomorrow. I may not be in French, but I will be in Calculus. I have a breakfast meeting with the Beau's tomorrow morning and I do not know how long it will take. Sweet dreams, Mal. Thank you for making all of mine come true.
I blushed as I thought of the message, and I couldn't wait to see him later. Evie and I made our way to the breakfast line, we got our food, and, again; the lady waved me off, saying that I didn't have to pay. I thanked her again like I did yesterday and walked to the table where my friends were sitting. As we sat down, I pulled my phone out to text Ben.
Mal to Bubsy: You know you do not have to pay for my food, right? I get you are rich and all, but I have money.
I placed my phone down, and I ate my eggs. A couple of seconds later, my phone vibrated on the table.
Bubsy to Mal: Good morning to you, too. I get that you have money, and I do not want to sound like an ass when I say this, but I am the one to put money into your account.
I half-choked on my food, making my friends look at me with worry. I looked at them and shook my head to let them know I was okay. I then remembered I never told Ben that Seph sent me a new card with an allowance on it on Wednesday last week. She even told me about the app so I could keep track of how much money I was spending.
Mal to Bubsy: Don't you have an app so you can see what and how much money we spend?
Bubsy to Mal: Yes?
I shook my head in amusement.
Mal to Bubsy: Have you ever checked it?
I waited for a couple of minutes for his response.
Bubsy to Mal: Why is there 200 in your account? I have only boughten your food for the past 3 days. I know you have been eating, but how have you been getting your food???
I don't know if I should take offense to that because I don't know if he is slightly accusing me of stealing food. I don't want to think he is insinuating that, but what else am I supposed to think. I'm from the Isle. I have stolen before, not food, but I have stolen things. I stared at my screen for a couple of seconds before responding.
Mal to Bubsy: I don't know if you insinuate that I have been stealing, but just so you know, my stepmother sent me a new debit card and she said she will put an allowance on it each week.
I don't know if I feel offended about the text message or the fact that it was Ben saying it.
Bubsy to Mal: NO! I was never saying that you were stealing! I didn't know Persephone gave you an allowance. I am sorry if you thought I insinuated that. I never thought you would steal. I am so sorry!
I let out a small sigh in relief after reading the message. I knew there were things about the Isle I was going to have to talk about with Ben, but I wasn't ready to do that now.
Mal to Bubsy: It's okay. I'm sorry for not telling you. It may have been something you needed to know.
Bubsy to Mal: It's okay. I am heading down to my meeting and I will, now, not make it to Calculus. I have a meeting with FG later, but I'll see you at dinner, after swords and shields practice.
Mal to Bubsy: I am meeting with some people from the art club for dinner. We are all going to be painting pictures to display in the art room for family day and order pizza, but I'll copy my notes for you from French and Calculus and slide them under your dorm door for you before I head to the art club.
Bubsy to Mal: Will Trevor be there?
I rolled my eyes at his message.
Mal to Bubsy: Yes. Trevor will be there. He is a part of the art club. Why?
Bubsy to Mal: Just wondering. I'll text you later. I am going to be starting the meeting. Have a good day! I'll miss you!
Mal to Bubsy: I'll miss you too. Don't let Audrey or Leah get under your fur today. ;p
After I finished messaging Ben, I finished my breakfast and enjoyed talking with the rest of my friends.
(BEN'S POV)
Trevor?! Fuck! That guy likes Mal!
I walked to the dining room and stopped right outside of the doors to stare at her message. Trevor is going to be there. Gosh, dammit! Trevor is a nice guy and all, but I have heard rumors around that he has a thing for Mal. After Mal and I kissed on Friday, I was talking to a couple of my teammates and they told me it surprised them to see that Mal and I were soulmates. When I asked why they told me it was because Trevor told them he liked Mal a lot. He thought she was talented, but never told her and when I asked if he was there they said it wasn't because he had stuff to do. I know I shouldn't let my jealousy get the better of me, but I couldn't help it. Mal was my girlfriend, and I didn't want any guys making eyes at her! I texted her back, telling her I would message her later. Her response made me smile though, making all of my jealous feelings fade away. I slipped my phone into my pocket, fixed my cuffs, straightened my tie, and took a breath. I do not know what the Beau's want to discuss, but it must be important for them to be here this early and after we had just had a council meeting yesterday.
I felt a hand clasp my shoulder, and I turned to see my dad standing behind me and my mom at his side. I smiled at them, then leaned to kiss my mom on her cheek.
"I thought you were already in there," I said as I pointed to our dining hall.
"No, we were waiting for you." My mom said. "The Beau's should be here soon. So I think we should go out and meet them," she said as she turned to walk toward the large wooden doors in front of the castle.
I followed my parents out to the front and we saw the Beau's limo coming down from the gate.
"Do you know why they wanted to have this meeting?" I asked.
I looked up to see both of them shaking their heads.
"We don't, but you are going to be in charge of it. You will sit in the King's chair and be in charge of the meeting and whatever they want to discuss. Your mother and I will step up in case Leah goes ballistic again." my dad said. "We will sit to your right and leave the Queen's chair open," he said with a small smile.
I looked at both of them in confusion. "Why won't mom sit there? She is still Queen."
"Yes, but I will not be the Queen of Auradon after your coronation on Friday," she told me. "As of today. Your father and I want you to be seated in the King's chair. And until you are married or have a Lady of the Court, that you intend to marry, the Queen's seat will remain empty." she finished with a wink.
I huffed a small laugh and then the Beau's limo pulled up and their driver walked around the car to open the door for them. Leah was the first to climb out of the limo with a folder in her hand and then was followed by Prince Phillip, then Princess Aurora, and finally Audrey. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes when I saw her smile at me, so big that her face might have broken into two. They walked up the steps toward us and bowed.
"Good morning, your majesties." Princess Aurora said.
"Good morning, Princess Aurora," I said to her. "If you do not mind me asking. What is the meaning of this meeting?" I asked.
"I am not sure, your highness. My mother came to me yesterday, when she returned home, that Phillip and I were to come with her to this meeting and that Audrey was to attend too," she said as she looked at her mother and Audrey.
"Okay. Well, why don't we head inside? Mrs. Potts will be waiting for us in the dining hall." I said as I turned to walk into the castle and I heard my parents following behind me.
When we entered the dining hall, I walked up to my new seat. The King's seat. I took my seat and my parents took theirs to my right, my dad pulling out my mom's chair for her. Leah took a seat next to the Queen's chair with Aurora and Phillip sitting next to her, but Audrey pulled out the Queen's chair.
"I'm sorry, Audrey. That seat is reserved for the Queen or my Lady of the Court, but you are more than welcome to sit next to my father, across from yours, I told her, making her freeze and stared at me.
"Well, yes. I believe that this is a good way to start the meeting topic." Leah snarled.
I looked at her with a confused look and then looked to Audrey, who walked around to sit next to my dad. I looked to my parents and then to Aurora and Phillip and saw that they too had confused looks on their faces.
"I am sorry, Queen Leah. I don't understand what you mean." I said as I looked at her.
"I am talking about how we need to complete yours and Audrey's marriage contract, so that once your two have graduated you two can wed," she said in a serious tone.
I looked at her with wide eyes, and I was speechless. I didn't know what to say. I looked at my parents, and they were turning red as well as Audrey's, but Audrey just kept looking at each one of us as if nothing said was wrong. A couple of seconds later, Mrs. Potts entered with a tray of coffees and teas. After she placed my drink in front of me I thanked her and she told us she would be back with an assortment of food soon.
"I beg your pardon, Queen Leah. But what did you say?" I asked as I leaned forward, resting my arms on the table.
"I was just stating that your marriage contract to Audrey should be finalized soon," she repeated. "You are being coronated on Friday. After your coronation, Audrey can become your Lady of the Court and after you two have graduated, we could all start the royal wedding planning." she finished.
"Mother..." Aurora started, but I cut her off and looked at Audrey.
"Did you not tell them I broke up with you?" I asked her. She said nothing, she only shrugged.
"Yes. Audrey mentioned that you have an infatuation with some non-royal girl." Leah said, answering for Audrey.
"She is not an infatuation. She is my girlfriend and soulmate." I stated, slamming my hand on the table.
"I do not see how you can be in a relationship with a girl like that," Audrey mumbled.
"I'll tell you, Audrey," I said as I looked at her. "She is the most beautiful person I have ever met, inside and out. She is artistic, funny, sassy, tough, loving, caring, talented, and amazing. I have never met a girl like her." I said to her.
"You've met me. I am all of those things," she said to me.
"Oh. Do not get me started on how you are none of those things!" I stated. "When was the last time we went on an actual date?" I asked her. She looked at me, not saying anything. "Oh. That's right, we never did. Audrey, you never cared about me. You only wanted the crown. Anyone with eyes can see that." I told her. "You would even introduce yourself and the future Queen of Auradon. I mean. Who does that?" I asked.
"Benjamin. I am here to talk some sense into you. Audrey told me who you are, what you kids call, crushing on, and I will let you know right now that that thing does not have any right to be in a position of power." Leah stated.
"What do you mean 'that thing' Leah?" My mom asked with a snarl.
I looked over to see that she was glaring at Leah with fire in her eyes and my dad was glaring at her too.
"I am simply stating that Prince Ben should go back to my granddaughter for the good of Auradon," Leah said.
"The good of Auradon or the good for you?" My mom asked with venom in her voice.
"Ben?" I heard Aurora call. I looked at her and gave her my attention. "I am sorry, but Phillip and I are at a loss here? We had no clue that you and Audrey had broken up and that you have a new girlfriend. We didn't even know what this meeting was about."
"That is okay. I understand. To make a long story short. Yes. I broke up with Audrey on Friday because I found my soulmate and I wanted to be with her, but Audrey didn't take it well. Obviously." I said.
"I see," Aurora said, looking to her daughter and then back to me. "If you do not mind me asking. Who is this young lady?" she asked.
A smile grew on my face thinking of Mal. "Her name is Mallory Drakos or Mal. She is from the Isle. She is the daughter of Lord Hades and…"
"Maleficent." Aurora finished.
I met her gaze and nodded my head, then a smile grew on her face.
"Can I meet her?" she asked, shocking everyone but Phillip at the table.
"What!?" Leah screeched.
I looked at Aurora in surprise.
"You want to meet her?" I asked in shock.
"I really would." she nodded eagerly, smiling.
"Aurora! What are you doing? Do you even remember what that thing's mother did to our family?" Leah asked as she turned to her daughter.
Aurora took at her husband and then to her mother. "Yes, mother, I remember. And I would love to meet my fairy godmother's daughter!" She exclaimed.
I stared at her in shock. I looked at my parents and Audrey and saw that they were in shock too.
"You will do no such thing, Aurora Beau! I forbid it!" Leah exclaimed as she stood up from her seat and as Mrs. Potts came out with a cart of food.
I looked at her and saw her quietly leave the food on the table and walk back into the kitchen.
"You do not demand me, mother! Maleficent may have put a curse on me when I was a baby, but she raised me to be the woman I am today! I love Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, but they were not paying attention to me growing up. They were too busy fighting to even notice that I wasn't even there over half the time. You have been blaming Maleficent for years about how you missed my first steps, my first words, and everything else, but you could have raised me. You did not have to send me away! That is your fault!" She screamed at her mother.
"Yes. I sent you away to be protected from the evil witch and I will do the same for Audrey! Maleficent's spawn will not ruin Audrey's future!" Leah exclaimed to Aurora.
"I am going to stop you right there, Leah!" my mom stated. "You do not dare compare Mal to Maleficent! She is nothing like her mother!" My mom shouted.
"And how do you know that? She is probably playing all of you for fools," she said, crossing her arms over her chest. "Audrey is probably right. Ben is probably spelled so that that thing can help her slut of a mother off the Isle." she finished.
"Mother!" Aurora yelled as she stood up from her seat, and Phillip followed her actions. "Maleficent was not a slut! She cared for me when I was a baby. She saved my life on multiple occasions. She is the one who woke me up with a true love's kiss!" Aurora screamed, shocking her mother. "But you know what drove her insane and pushed her over the edge?" she said as she pointed to her mother and walked forward. "That when she went to retrieve her wings, after waking me, they were burned to ash. She went to claim what was stolen from her and they were destroyed!" Aurora went on. "I found Maleficent kneeling over the ashes. In the 16 years that she watched over me, I never once have seen her cry, but she was. She was crying and when I went to comfort her, she pushed me away. She blamed me for what had happened to her wings and she left me there in the castle." she continued. "I went to yell at my father for what he had done to her all of those years ago and for burning her wings, but he didn't have a clue what I was talking about when I mentioned Maleficent's wings," she stated. We all looked to see Leah was now starting to shake. "He told me that Maleficent's wings were in their cage and have been there for 20 years. I had told him they were burnt and were turned into ash. And he was surprised to see the pile of ash after showing him and he said he didn't know what had happened because there were only 2 people who had access to that room and he said he would never burn them because they reminded him of the Moors." she said. "So… after these years, I am finally going to ask you," she said as she looked down at her mother. "Why did you do it?" she asked, sounding like acid was coming out of her mouth.
The room fell silent. I looked to my parents, who were sitting there with no expression on their faces. Audrey looked like she felt uncomfortable. Leah had a straight face looking at Aurora in her eyes, while Aurora glared at her mother. Phillip was behind Aurora and placed a hand on her shoulder for support.
"I am waiting!" Aurora shouted.
"Waiting for what?" Leah scoffed.
"Why did you burn her wings?" Aurora snarled.
"Why does it matter? I have my reasons." Leah said, raising her head.
"You are the reason Maleficent is evil! You are the reason for everything!" Aurora yelled.
"Mom. Grammy is right! Mal is just like her mother. She can't be trusted." Audrey stated, finally speaking for the first time. "Mal stole my boyfriend and life! Why would you be standing there and defending her?" Audrey asked, getting up from her seat.
"My point exactly. Let's get off the topic of Maleficent and her spawn and get back on the topic of Ben and Audrey's marriage contract." Leah said as she sat back down in her seat.
"Well, there will be no discussion on it because I am not marrying Audrey." I started, cocking my head to the side and looking at Leah. "I have a girlfriend."
"Honestly, Ben. You love Audrey. That thing has you spelled. Soulmate or not, Audrey is your true love." Leah said, leaning back in her seat and crossing her arms.
I huffed and then looked at Audrey. "You don't tell your parents or grandparents anything, do you?" I asked.
"That didn't count," Audrey said bitterly.
"How did it not count?" I asked seriously.
"What are you talking about, Ben?" my mom asked.
I looked at her and smiled. I told them what had happened Saturday at breakfast, minus the name-calling, and my parents grew smiles on their faces.
"Well, it sounds to me that Mal has a wonderful and fun personality., Phillip said, making me look at him and Aurora.
I nodded my head. "Yeah. She is amazing, and she makes me happy." I said, making them both smile at me.
"I cannot believe that you are all condoning Ben to be with a slut, like Maleficent!" Leah yelled from her seat. "What is wrong with you people? She has ruined all of our plans! Ruined Audrey's future!" She screamed.
I have had enough of Leah for a lifetime in the past 45 minutes of this conversation, and I will not let it continue.
I stood from my seat. "And what about my future?" I asked. "I do not want to be with Audrey. And to tell you the truth, I never did." I said looking at Leah, who was now snarling at me. "I am sorry to burst your bubble, Queen Leah, but Audrey will not be my Queen." I finished.
"Bennyboo!" Audrey yelled.
I looked toward her and saw that she was about to cry, but I could also tell that it was all for show.
"Put the waterworks away, Audrey. You do not love me. You love the crown that comes with me." I said before I took a step to the side and pushed in my chair. "I am sorry, but I have a meeting with FG in 30 minutes. This discussion and topic are done. I do not want to hear any more of it. Please stay and enjoy breakfast, but I have to leave." I said as I bowed to everyone. "I hope all of you have a wonderful day," I said as I walked out.
"I will have a good day once you make Audrey your Queen," Leah murmured.
I stopped in my tracks and turned to say something, but my dad started before I could.
"Queen Leah. My son has already stated that Audrey will not be his Queen. This discussion is over and I do not want to hear anymore about it." He stated to her.
I looked at him and smiled. I loved that my parents have always had my back. They supported me in any decision I made, and I couldn't be more grateful for them.
"It's not over until there is a Queen," Leah stated. "And it will be my granddaughter." She mumbled.
I rolled my eyes at her and looked around the room. Aurora, Phillip, and my parents looked at Leah with disgust and anger, and Audrey looked like nothing was wrong and like what her grandmother said was right.
"Go on, Ben." My mom said, gaining my attention. "Jen will be waiting for you." She said smiling.
I nodded my head and excused myself again. I walked through the big double doors and upstairs to change into jeans and a button-up shirt. When I walked back downstairs I could hear Leah, Aurora, Phillip, and my parents arguing. I should have gone back in and helped my parents, but I was already running late. So I walked outside and made my way toward my bike.
I made it back to campus just as everyone was going to their third-period class. I walked through campus and passed some of my friends on the way. I stopped when I saw Mal walking to our Calculus class, and I couldn't help but smile at the sight of her. She looked so beautiful. She was wearing a violet romper that was almost at her mid-thigh, a pair of black converse, and a black leather jacket. Her hair was in a high ponytail and she had loose pieces falling down her face. But what made me smile bigger was the gold ring sitting on her index finger. I took another couple of steps toward the major office building and stopped again when I saw Trevor. He was standing outside of the building and was looking in the same direction I was looking with a gigantic smile on his face. When I turned to see what he was looking at, I turned to see he was looking at Mal. She was now talking to Jordan and Evie outside of Mal's class. I looked back at him and was getting irritated at him looking at my girlfriend. I wanted to go up and talk to him about it, but I was really late for my meeting with FG.
I'll just have to talk to Mal about it later. And maybe she could talk to Trevor about it.
I don't mind it if they want to be friends, but I don't want him making eyes at her. I shook my head and walked into the building and walked straight into FG's office.
"Okay. I have ordered the laptops to be sent over and should be there within the next couple of hours." I said as I sat down in one of the chairs in FG's office.
"Great! I have talked to Persephone and sent a letter to Grimhild that she should get in an hour," FG said as she took a seat in her chair. "I think you are doing something really nice for the Isle kids," she said to me.
"Yeah. I know Mal has been missing her brother and dad, so maybe this would make Family Day, on Wednesday, a little less awkward for them," I said, running a hand through my hair.
"Yes. Maybe, but I do not think that any of you would let that happen," she said with a small chuckle. "Now, why don't you run along. I bet you want to spend some time with Mal or your friends before dinner," she said with a smile.
"I wish I could spend some time with Mal, but she is working with the art club on some painting and drawings for Family Day," I said with a pout.
"I see. Well, why don't you spend some time with your other friends? I bet you they missed seeing you today," she suggested.
"Yeah. Or maybe I'll just go to the gym to blow off some steam. I have had a hectic morning," I said as I stood up and looked at my watch.
It was almost 4 and Mal was probably going to be heading to meet with the art club and Trevor. The thought of Trevor and Mal hanging out makes me upset.
"Well, the gym is empty at this time of day. So maybe that's a good idea," she agreed.
"Yeah. Thank you again for helping me today. I appreciate it," I told her as I made my way to the door.
"Anytime, Ben. Have a good rest of your day," she told me.
"You too. I will see you tomorrow morning," I told her as I walked out of her office and closed the door behind me.
I was walking to my room to change into some workout clothes. I heard Trevor talking to someone, making me stop in my tracks and hide around the corner.
"Come on. They can't be serious." Trevor said. "Ben and Mal? They have absolutely nothing in common. She is way too good for him." he said.
"Dude, they are soulmates. I mean, you weren't there on Friday night. They look really good together. Plus, didn't you see Ben's post about her?" I heard them ask him.
"I don't follow Ben, but Melody showed me. I just don't see it lasting." he said.
I saw red. Who the fuck does this guy think he is? Does he think Mal would leave me for him? What because they both like art?
"I get they are soulmates, but not everyone gets to be with their soulmate." he added.
"Dude. I'm in their Calculus class and you should see the way he looks at her and didn't you notice she was wearing his ring?" The other person added. "Maybe you should just back off and be her friend and not flirt with her, because I am sure she likes him just as much as he likes her." they added.
At least someone is telling him to fuck off!
"Yeah. Well, she won't be up for grabs until they break up or until he makes her Queen, but until then I can always have my fun and flirt," he said.
I then saw them walk toward the library, not noticing I was there. I stood there glaring at Trevor, and I could feel the heavy breaths I was taking. I hurried to my room, trying to make it look like I was mad. Once I was there, I quickly changed into a pair of jogger sweatpants and a sleeveless t-shirt. I grabbed my headphones and left my room.
Once I was outside, I jogged toward the gym. I passed by Jordan and Chad on my saw. I gave them a small smile before jogging the rest of the way to the gym. I was so glad that it was completely empty when I got there.I turned my music up to max volume, picked up some weights and started to bench, hoping that I could take out my anger working out.
(MAL'S POV)
"Gosh, fucking, dammit!" I said as I ruffled through my folder. "Where are they?"
I was in the hallway of my dorm room and kneeling by Ben's door, trying to find the notes I copied down for him. I heard people coming down the hall and turned to see Chad and Jordan.
"Um… Hey, Mal. What are you doing on the floor?" Chad asked.
I huffed and let my folder fall to the floor.
"Ben wasn't in class today and I told him I would copy my notes for him, but I can't find them. I may have thrown them away by accident when I threw out some of my bad sketches I was doing earlier." I said, sighing.
"Well, why don't you take pictures of your notes to rewrite them and give Ben your originals?" Jordan suggested.
"They are full of doodles." I told them, making them laugh. "I mean, he can read them, but the sides of the paper are all doodles." I said.
"I am like 9000 percent sure that he wouldn't care if there are doodles on them. He would actually love it," Chad said with a smile.
"Okay."
I took out my notebook and quickly took pictures of the notes. I ripped them out of and slipped them under his door. I then stood up and looked at Jordan and Chad, who were still standing there.
"Did you guys need something?" I asked, swinging my bag back over my shoulder.
"Have you talked to Ben today?" Chad asked.
I furrowed my eyebrows at the question. "Yeah. We were texting at breakfast. Why?" I asked. Did something happen to him? Is he okay?
"We think so, but we saw him jogging to the gym and when he looked at us he smiled but it seemed off. Do you know how his meeting went this morning?" Jordan asked.
How did she know about the meeting? Maybe Ben told Chad and Chad told her?
"How long ago was that?" I asked.
"About an hour ago. We were looking for you all over, but we didn't even think to check your dorm," Chad said as he rubbed his forehead.
"It's okay. You probably wouldn't have found me there either, because I was out in the woods writing the notes and listening to music," I said with a chuckle. "I'll check on him before I meet with the art club," I said as I started to walk down the hall.
"Mal," Chad called, making me turn to look at him.
"Yeah?"
"Text me and let me know how he's doing?" I asked.
I nodded my head and went to find my boyfriend.
It only took me 15 minutes to walk to the gym and when I reached for the door, I heard the sound on weights hitting the floor. I yanked the door open and saw Ben standing there shaking his hands. He was really sweaty. His skin was glistening, like he was lathered in oil. His hair was dripping with sweat and I bet it was clinging to his forehead. His shirt is drenched in sweat and was almost clinging to his body. His toned, tanned, sculpted, muscular body. My gosh, what I would do to be wrapped in his arms right now. I shook my head, clearing my head from those thoughts. We have been together for 3 days. Let's not rush this, Mallory. I told myself. His back was to me, so he didn't know I was here. I slowly walked up to him and placed a hand on his shoulder. He quickly turned with his fist flying at my face, but I caught it with my hand and stopped it before his fist collided with my face. His eyes widened when he saw I was standing in front of him. He took out his headphones and paled.
"And to think I thought you liked me," I said to him as I let my hand fall to my side.
"Mal. I am so sorry," he apologized. "I didn't know that you were in here. I thought you were with your club right now," he said, taking the last few steps and pulling me to his sweaty chest.
"So you just punch everyone who sneaks up on you?" I asked, looking up at him.
"Well, no, but I have had a really crappy day," he said, leaning down and kissing the top of my head.
"Want to talk about it?" I asked him, stepping out of his arms.
"You have your club thing to go to. I don't want you to be late," he told me.
"I'm not late. We weren't going to be meeting until 6. I have like 30 minutes. So just tell me what happened and maybe it will make you feel better," I told him.
He then told me about what had happened during the meeting with Audrey's family, and I had a big mixture of emotions. Anger, jealousy, nervousness, annoyance and so many more. He didn't tell me what his meeting with FG was about, but then he told me about what had happened before, when he saw Trevor looking at me. I hadn't seen Trevor since Friday after my fight with Ben. I could tell that it irritated Ben, the thought of Trevor liking me, but I would never leave Ben and I needed him to understand that.
"Okay. Ben. Babe. Listen to me," I said as I took the sides of his face into my hands, squeezing his cheeks so I was scrunching his face. "I am not going to leave you. Ever. For anyone. Soulmates are meant to be together. You and I were meant to be together," I finished, making him smile.
I pulled his face to mine and gave him a reassuring kiss. He deepened the kiss by wrapping his arms around my waist, pressing my body to his, and lifting me off the ground. I could feel how sticky he was, but I didn't care. I wrapped my arms around his neck, not wanting the kiss to end. He swept his tongue across my bottom lip. I willingly open my mouth and we continue our kissing session. I knotted my fingers in his hair and he wrapped my legs around his waist. He took a couple of steps and then I felt my back against the wall. He pressed further into me while we deepened our kiss. We broke apart when we heard someone clear their throat.
We turned to see Jay, Carlos, Ryder, Chad, Aziz, and surprisingly Doug standing in the doorway. They were all in workout clothes and stood there with wide eyes.
"Well, Chad. There is your answer," Ryder said, gesturing to Ben and I.
"Yeah. See nothing to worry about. Ben was just horny," Aziz added, making Ben's and I's eyes widen and Ryder chuckle.
I looked at Jay and Carlos and their eyes widened even more.
"Jay. Carlos. You may smack them," Ben said as he set me down on the ground.
On cue Jay and Carlos smacked Aziz and Ryder on the backs of their head.
"Ow!" They said simultaneously, rubbing their heads.
Everyone laughed at them and then Ben wrapped his arm around my waist and kissed the top of my head.
"How long were you guys standing there?" I asked.
"Just in time to see Ben pick you up and press you into the wall," Jay said, giving Ben a small glare.
"Jay. Play nice," I said as I pushed up on my toes to kiss Ben on the cheek. "I have to go now. Have fun, guys," I said as I walked toward the door.
"Text me when you get back to your dorm or else I will go and find you, myself," Ben said, pointing at me.
"Promets de promesses, bébé," (Promises promises, baby,) I told him with a wink and then closed the door, leaving Ben with my brothers and his friends.
I walked toward the art room and ran into Emma and Kristine on the way there. Emma is the daughter of Snow White and Ferdinand and Kristine is the daughter of Anna and Kristoff. We walked into the art room a couple of minutes later and noticed that Trevor was there with 2 boxes of pizza and some sodas.
"Wow, Trevor. Seems you got everything ready for our art sesh," Kristine said.
He turned to look and when his eyes landed on mine; he grew a bigger smile on his face. I don't know if it was Ben telling me that Trevor bothered him, but the way he was smiling at me made my skin crawl. I gave him a tight smile and a small wave as I walked into the room. About 10 minutes later Ruby and Alister came in. Ruby is the daughter of Rapunzel and Eugene, and Alister is the son of Alice Kingsly and the brother of Ally. We all sat around eating pizza and talking about what we were going to work on. We all decided to work on different pieces because we all had different styles and I took Ben's ring off and slid it into my pocket so that I wouldn't get it dirty.
It was a quarter after 7 by the time we all started to work on our projects and I could feel Trevor's eyes on me every couple seconds. I was just finishing grabbing all the paints that I thought I would need before I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked behind me and saw Trevor looking down at me with a smile on his face.
"Hey," he said.
"Hi," I said as I got up to grab some paint brushes.
"So what are you going to paint?" He asked, following me to the sink where all the brushes are.
"I'm not sure. I never do. My mind just wanders and I let my hands do the work," I said as I grabbed all the brushes I would hopefully use as I walked back to where I was set up.
"Wow. The truest of artists," he said, smiling at me.
"Yeah. I guess," I said shyly. "What are you going to do?"
"I'm going to paint Atlantica," he said with a smile.
"Oh wow," I said, surprised. "I can't wait to see it. I bet it's a beautiful place," I said, turning to grab a big wide canvas.
"It is. Maybe I could take you?" He said.
I widened my eyes. Crap.
"I can't swim," I said to him. "Or breathe underwater for that matter," I finished.
"Maybe I can teach you. I mean, my mom taught me when they brought me home for the first time," he said.
What? What does he mean for the first time?
"Plus, dad and I can't breathe underwater either. That's why we have special helmets for the journey and then half the palace is 'waterproof'," he said with a chuckle.
"Huh? I see." I said. "And what did you mean when they brought you home? I'm confused." I said.
"Yeah. I was 2 when they adopted me. I'm not biologically their son. Few people know." He said. "I don't even think Melody knows, and she's 20," he said laughing.
"Oh wow. I had no idea," I said.
Crap. Now I feel bad.
"What happened to your real parents? If you don't mind me asking," I said, taking a seat at my station and placing the big canvas on my easel.
"I don't know much about them. I know they weren't good people," he said, putting an elbow on the corner of my canvas.
"I'm sorry," I said sympathetically.
"It's fine. I have great parents and I love them," he said with a bright smile.
"Well, I'm glad everything turned out good for you," I said smiling at him.
"Yeah. What about you?" He asked, making me look at him in confusion.
Where was he going with this?
"I mean. The girl from the wrong side of the bridge now dating the crowned prince?" He said.
"Oh. Yeah," I said.
"I didn't think you and Ben would ever be together if I can be honest with you," he said.
I snapped my head at him, giving him a what-the-fuck look.
"What?" I asked.
"Well, when I first saw you and Ben together in the cafeteria, he never took his eyes off you. I automatically knew that he liked you. But I never would have thought that you liked him back because you guys are polar opposites," he stated.
"Well, opposites attract," I said bitterly.
"Yeah, I guess they do," he said. "I'll let you get back to your work," he said as he placed a hand on my shoulder, sending chills down my spine, and walked to his table.
I tried to ignore Trevor's stare while I am working. Every time I would grab a new paint or brush, Trevor was right there at my side, smiling at me. There were even a couple of times when he would place a hand on my lower back, making me jump at the touch.
I tried not to get up from my seat too often so he didn't get the chance to touch me, but he would just come over to "look" at my work.
I looked at Ruby, Alister, Kristine, and Emma and saw that they were looking at Trevor with weird looks and they could tell that I was getting uncomfortable. After the last couple of times Trevor came over Alister and Emma came and sat by me because they were done and they were looking at my painting.
"Wow, Mal," Alister said, looking at my painting. "It's beautiful," he said.
I looked at my painting and couldn't help but smile at it. It was a big detailed landscape map of all Auradon.
"My Zeus, Mal. How did you do this in so little time?" Emma asked.
"I work pretty fast," I said with a giggle.
"You added everything," Alister noted. "Beast Castle, Auradon Prep, The Isle of the Lost, and all the different lands in Auradon," he said, looking at my painting more closely.
"What is that?" Emma asked, pointing to the outskirts of Auradon.
"Oh. That's the Moors," I said. "That's where my mother grew up," I said as I dipped my brush in my paint.
"Wow. I have never seen the inside of it. It's beautiful," She said looking at my painting. "Is that what it really looks like?" She asked, turning to me.
"Umm, yeah. FG showed me what it looks like," I said. "Or looked like."
"Is that what the Isle really looked like?" Alister asked.
"Yeah," I answered.
"It looks like a dump," Kristine said, startling the three of us.
"Holy crap, Kristine! We need to put a bell on you," Alister said, holding his hand to his chest.
"Don't be such a scaredy-cat," she said, smacking his arm slightly.
"I just came to tell you it's 30 minutes until curfew and that we should probably start cleaning up," she said.
I looked at the clock and saw it was 10:30 and everything was a mess. I wonder…
"Well, I could give it my own little Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo and have everything cleaned in 1 minute," I offered.
"Okay! Great! And don't worry. We won't tell FG about it. She's a stickler when it comes to magic use," Ruby said.
I nodded my head to her, but I was going to text FG and explain what was happening anyway. I quickly washed my hands and pulled my phone and Ben's ring out of my pocket. I slipped the ring back on my index finger and then texted FG.
Mal to FG: Hey, FG! I just wanted to let you know that it's almost curfew and the rest of the art club and I was going to work a little Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo so that we won't be late for curfew if that is okay?
A couple of minutes later she texted me back.
FG to Mal: Okay, dear. Thank you for telling me. I trust you to use your magic wisely. Now hurry along or else you will be out past curfew;)
I smiled at her text message and then slipped my phone into my pocket. I looked to see everyone putting their pictures away and Alister and Emma were moving mine to the giant storage closet so that it wouldn't be ruined.
"Okay everyone. Let's move out of the way and I'll start," I said.
Everyone moved to one side of the room and looked at me.
Sweep, sweep, sweep the ground.
All negativity shall be bound.
I banish all that is profound.
Only positive shall remain.
I waved my hands around the room and everything went in its home. I turned to see the five of them staring with their mouths open, making me chuckle.
"Okay. That was so cool!" Rudy exclaimed. "Now I know why my brother doesn't like to share friends with me," she said, making me laugh and the statement.
"He's dumb. Of course we are friends," I said as I wrapped my arm around her shoulder. "But we should leave, because curfew is in 15," I said, letting go of her and walking toward the door.
They all followed me out and we walked to the dormitory. When we were outside I stopped while everyone else went inside and looked up to see if Evie was awake and sure enough our light was on. I turned to look four windows down and saw that Ben's was on too. Maybe I'll call him when I get to my room. I was broken out of the thought when I felt an arm wrap around my back and held the side of my arm.
"So. It's a beautiful night. Care to join me for a late night walk?" He asked as I looked up to meet his brown eyes.
"Umm… I'm sorry. I don't want to break curfew and Ben will be worried if I don't get back before then," I said as I walked into the building.
"I see. Wouldn't want to make the Beast angry now would we," he called from behind me. "Goodnight, Mal," he finished.
I turned to look at him curiously after the comment he made about Ben. When I looked at his face he had a flirtatious smile on it that made my stomach turn.
"Goodnight, Trevor," I said before disappearing into the building.
When I knew that he couldn't see me I started to run upstairs to my room. I rushed past Ben's room and Jay and Carlos', pulling out my key as I went to the door. Once I was inside I slumped against the door and sank to the floor, luckily I heard that Evie was in the shower or else she would be bombarding me with questions right now.
Why was Trevor acting so weird tonight? Why did he talk about Ben that way?
My phone pinged, bringing me out of my thoughts. I pulled it out and saw Ben's nickname.
Bubsy to Mal: Hey. It's like 10 past curfew. Are you okay?
I smiled at his message.
Mal to Bubsy: Hey. Yeah. I'm fine. I just got in. What are you doing up so late? Don't you need your beauty sleep?
Bubsy to Mal: Ha. Ha. You're a descendant from the SLEEPING BEAUTY story.
Mal to Bubsy: Says the man whose parents are BEAUTY THE BEAST
Bubsy to Mal: Fair point. You can be my beauty and I'll be your beast.
Oh my Zeus! I can't handle the cheesiness!
I laughed at his text message. I was going to text him back when I heard the door to our bathroom open and Evie walked out.
"Hey, M! How was your club dinner?" She asked as she brushed her hair.
I put my phone down and frowned.
"What happened?" She asked, racing to my bed and putting a hand on my shoulder.
I shook my head, not wanting to talk about it.
"Do not give me that crap Mallory Bertha Drakos! Tell me what happened now!" she exclaimed.
I sighed. "Okay. But I don't want you telling anyone about it," I told her.
"Never," she said as she sat down on my bed.
I sat and told her all about what Ben had told me and about the way Trevor was acting all night and that he wanted to go for a walk with me when we got back.
"Can I break his fingers?" Evie said with a sweet smile.
I laughed at her as I stood up and went to our closet to change. "No, E. You cannot break his fingers," I told her as I changed into one of the satin pajamas she made me for my birthday. She basically made me an entire new wardrobe, which I loved. The pajamas were a beautiful emerald green color. The top was a spaghetti strap, with black lace across the top and had matching satin pants.
When I walked out her lips were pursed and her arms were crossed over her chest.
"Evilyn Lucille White. Do not give me that look," I said as I walked to my bed and grabbed my phone.
"Have you told Ben what happened?" she asked me curiously.
I pursed my lips and tried not to meet her eyes as I shook my head. I looked at my phone and saw that Ben had texted me.
Bubsy to Mal: So… how was tonight?
I looked up at Evie and saw that she was staring at me and waiting for my answer.
"Well. I think I have no choice to tell him now that he asked me how it went," I said, looking at her.
"Do you want me to give you some privacy? I can go into the bathroom if you want to call him," she offered.
I thought about it for a couple of seconds, before I smiled to myself. I looked up at Evie to see her looking at me weird.
"No. I think I'll go and talk to him," I said as I slipped on my slippers.
"Mal. You can't go over there. It's past curfew and there are hall monitors watching the halls," she stated.
"Yes, E. There are, But thanks to FG's magic lessons I know how to teleport," I told her.
"What?! When did you learn how to do that? Is it hard? Are you good at it?" she asked me, making me chuckle.
"I know! On Wednesday. Not as hard as you would think. And I'm not that bad," I told her.
She smiled at me and I walked to the middle of the room. I turned to look at her and winked before jumping, leaving violet sparkles behind.
(BEN'S POV)
I was sitting in my bed looking at some of the new articles on my phone. There were so many about Mal and I. I started to think about today and how Mal made me feel better. I looked through the pictures from her birthday that my mom had sent me and I found one that I really liked. It was one of Mal and I. We were standing outside of the restaurant and were laughing because Lumiere and Cogsworth were pushing and shoving each other, making Cogsworth fall on the floor and took my dad down with him. We each had an arm around one another and were looking away from the camera. She looked so beautiful and happy. I made it my wallpaper on my phone and stared at it, waiting for Mal to text me about how tonight went. I then felt someone flop onto my bed making me jump. I turned to see Mal sitting by me in a really hot green pajama set. I then noticed that there were violet sparkles falling down onto her and my bed. I looked at her then squinted my eyes.
"Yes. I know. I know. I'm not supposed to be using my magic without permission, but I wanted to tell you what happened tonight," she said with a pouty lip.
"Okay. You have my permission," I said, giving her a teasing smile.
"Why thank you, your majesty," she joked and then her face fell, making me furrow my eyebrows at her. "You know. I'm going to tell you something and I have never said this to anyone and you will probably never hear me say it again," she told me, making me nod my head at her. "You were right about Trevor," she said, looking down at the bed.
My eyes widened. What did that fucker do? Did he touch her?
"What happened?" I asked as I scooted closer to her and wrapped my arm around her.
She then told me about everything that happened tonight. The looks he gave. Their talk, which surprised me to hear that he was adopted, but that's not important right now. The way he kept trying to touch her. The comment he made about me and that he asked for her to go for a walk with him. That's my thing!
"Wow," I said after she finished.
"Yeah. I don't know what to do. I was thankful that Alister and Emma saw how uncomfortable I was, but I don't know how to make him stop," she said as she leans her head on my shoulder.
"I know and I'm sorry. I don't like the comments that he made about you and I and I know you don't want to create a big scriptural about it," I told her and then placed a kiss on the top of her head. "Do you want me to talk to him?" I asked.
She looked up at me and gave me a small smile. "No. I am just hoping that he'll stop when he realizes that I'm not interested and that I'm with you," she said as she curled into me and rested her head on my chest.
"Getting comfy?" I asked teasingly.
She nodded and wrapped her arms around my waist and curled further into me. I chuckled, pulled her closer and buried my nose into her hair. Her hair smelled like roses and was so soft.
"I have a question," she said.
"And what would that be?"
"Do you always sleep in just a pair of boxers with little crowns on them?" She asked with a laugh.
I widened my eyes when I remembered that I was only in my boxers. "Crap!" I said as I covered my eyes in embarrassment. "Zeus, Mal! I'm sorry. I didn't know you were coming!" I said as I ran a hand through my hair.
"Ben. It's fine. I saw you on Saturday in swim trunks. It's basically the same thing," she told me. "Plus, Jordan is right," she said. I raised an eyebrow at her. "You have an impressive body," she said shyly and blushed.
I looked at her with a smirk, making her blush and cover her face with her hands. "Oh, really?" I asked flirtatiously.
She groaned and then turned to her side so that her back was to me. I laughed at how embarrassed she was. I scooted closer to her, wrapped my arms around her and spooned her. I have never done this before.
"Come on, Mal. Don't be embarrassed," I told her as I put my shin in the crook of her neck.
She turned around to face me and pouted. "Yeah, right? How would you feel if you say that to the King of Auradon!" she stated.
"Well, I don't think that my dad would appreciate me telling him I think that he had a good body," I said. "He may ground me for being weird," I said with a laugh.
"Oh. Ha! Ha! You are so funny," she said as she stuck her tongue out at me.
I leaned down and kissed her nose. When I pulled back, I was met with her green eyes. I could stare at her eyes for all of eternity if I could.
"Have you always had those gold flecks in your eyes?" I asked her and gave her a sly smile.
She rolled her eyes at me and then sighed. "I better go. We have to be up tomorrow for school and I have to put the little finishing touches on my painting," she said as she started to get up.
I didn't want her to leave. "Or… You could stay and watch a movie with me and if you end up falling asleep, that's fine to…" I said as I pulled her back to me.
She turned to look at we with a shocked expression. "And I thought that I was supposed to be a bad influence in our relationship," she said teasingly, making me smirk. "But, being the good influence now, that is against the rules. I don't want to get in trouble," she said.
"I am going to be King in 4 days. Plus, you are the King's girlfriend," I told her.
"Yes. The King's evil girlfriend. Remember?" she asked, raising an eyebrow at me.
"Who called you evil? I'll send them to the Isle, because no one calls my beautiful girlfriend evil," I said as I pulled her to my chest, hugging her tightly.
"Well, one being your ex girlfriend and two being her grandmother," she said, looking up at me.
"Well, one Audrey is Princess Bitch and her grandmother is Queen Bitch," I told her, making her laugh.
"So… What movie did you have in mind?" she asked me.
I looked at her in surprise. "You're staying?" I asked.
She nodded her head, and I couldn't help but smile. How the hell did I get this lucky?
"Great! I'll go put actual pajamas on," I said as I rolled out of the bed and stretched my back.
"You don't have to," she said as she laid on her back with her head rested on one of my pillows. "If that is how you sleep and how you are comfortable, just stay that way," she said, shrugging her shoulders.
"Are you sure? I don't want to make you feel uncomfortable," I said, looking at her.
"Yes. Just because I am wearing pajamas doesn't mean you have to," she told me.
"Okay. Thank you. Because I really hate wearing pajamas at night," I told her as I pulled back the blankets and gestured for her to go under as I slid back in. "But I will say, I am a REALLY big fan of yours," I said as I pulled her close.
"Thank you. Evie made them for me for my birthday," she said.
"Well, she should make all of your clothes with lace," I said as I leaned in to kiss her.
She kissed me back and wrapped her arms around my neck. I moved my hands down to her waist and pulled her so that her stomach was against mine. Before I could deepen the kiss, Mal pulled away.
"I want us to take things slow, physically," she said, looking up at me.
"Oh," I said as I widened my eyes. Fuck! I didn't want her to think I wanted to have sex with her. I just wanted to cuddle! And after what Jay told us! How could I be so stupid!? "I don't want you to think that I was implying to have sex tonight. I just wanted to cuddle you. I would never rush you into it. Ever." I told her.
She sighed and then nodded her head. "If you don't mind me asking… What is the furthest you have gone with a girl?" she asked.
"I… Umm… I have only kissed Audrey. Not even a makeout. So technically you are the furthest I have gone," I said, looking down at my bed covers.
"Well, if it makes you feel better. You are the furthest I have gone too," she told me.
I looked up to meet her eyes and smiled.
"You never dated on the Isle?" I asked.
She shook her head. "When your dad is King of the Underworld boys tend to scatter and no one dates on the Isle, it's more like gang activity, unless they found their soulmate," she explained.
"Well, I'm not going to scatter," I said, kissing the top of her head.
"Good to hear," she said with a chuckle, and then she frowned.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Umm… I feel… I… I should tell you about… There was this one time…" she stuttered. Is she going to tell me about Anthony Tremaine?
"What?"
"Talking about the furthest that we both have gone made me remember something that happened on the Isle," she said. "It was a couple of months before we came here and I don't remember what happened, but Jay told me afterwards. The four of us had a hideout on the Isle, and I was heading there after working at the restaurant. I took off my boots and headed to the bed I had there, and then I was hit over the head with something hard. I woke up in my dad's cave and Seph and Evie were looking over me," she explained. "When I looked around the cave, I saw that Jay, Hadie, Carlos, and my dad were missing. About 10 minutes later Jay walked in and told me that Anthony Tremaine, who is Anastasia Tremaine's son, knocked me out and tried to rape me," she said as she curled into a ball.
I pulled her to me and stroked her hair. "I am so sorry," I said into her hair. "I wish that never happened to you," I told her.
"I am just glad that Jay had gotten there in time to stop him," she said.
"I am too," I said as I kissed her hair.
"Anthony has had a thing for me since we were 12 and still does, actually. When he heard that we were coming over here he threw a fit," she said, looking up at me. "He actually had the nerve to go down to my dad's cave and demand that he make me stay here," she said.
I made a confused face at her. "He's that head over heels?" I asked.
"I guess. But my dad set him straight, well as straight as Anthony can get. The guy can't take no for an answer. The night before we left, the gang and I were at the wharf saying goodbye to a couple of people and he came up to me and tried to kiss me. Luckily, Uma was there and pushed him away," she said.
"Uma pushed him out of the way?" I asked.
"Yeah. She hates Anthony just as much as I do. It surprised me to see that she did that and that Harry was pushing him out of her mom's restaurant." she said.
We talked for what seemed like hours. I didn't even know what time it was before we fell asleep.
I woke up to people talking. I slowly opened my eyes and saw a head of purple hair laying on my chest. I smiled and pulled her a little closer, making her curl into me further. I buried my nose in her hair and closed my eyes.
"Should we leave?" I heard someone say.
I opened my eyes and snapped my head up to see Evie, Jay, and Carlos standing at the foot of my bed.
"What the fuck?!" I exclaimed, waking Mal up in the process.
Mal shot up with half opened eyes and glared at her siblings. "What are you guys doing in here?" She asked them.
"Well, you never came back last night," Evie said, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Okay. Understandable. But how did you get into my room? I locked the door," I said, running a hand through my hair.
"Jay picked the lock," Mal said angrily.
I looked to see them looking at us with pursed lips.
"I see. Well, next time don't," I said, getting out of bed.
"Hello, Big Ben," Evie said as she flushed red and covered her mouth.
My eyes widened in shock at the nickname, and I fell to my knees, burying my face into my mattress.
"Out!" I said as I pointed to my door. "Please," I muttered into my mattress.
"Okay. Let's go guys," I heard Mal say and felt my bed shift. "Stop embarrassing my boyfriend," she demanded.
"But where is the fun in that?" Jay asked.
I looked up to see him smirking at me with an evil glint in his eyes.
"Oh, you want to play games, Jay?" I asked as I stood up, not caring about my hard on anymore, and grabbed my phone off my nightstand.
I heard a cough/choke and turned to see Mal staring at me with wide eyes. I smiled and then winked at her while I dialed the number I needed.
Jay looked at me with a confused look. A couple of rings went and then they answered.
"Hey, Lonnie!" I said into my phone, making Jay's eyes widen, and hung his mouth open in shock.
"Hey, Ben. What's up?"
"I just wanted to give you some news," I said.
Jay walked toward me, and I jumped on my bed to get away from him. I saw Mal, Evie, and Carlos laughing as Jay dove on my bed, barely missing my ankle as I jumped back down on the floor.
"Oh, yeah? And what would that be?"
I pulled my phone away from my ear and FaceTimed her, pointing the camera at Jay.
"Umm… Aren't you and Mal dating? Why is Jay in your bed?" She asked teasingly.
"Well I thought you might want to meet your soulmate," I said, making Jay turn red.
"What?!" she yelled through the phone.
Jay nodded his head and looked down at my sheets.
"Have you known since you got here?" she asked. Jay nodded his head again. "You big idiot! I have had a crush on you since Mal's birthday and you didn't even think to tell me?!"
"Umm… I'm sorry?" Jay said as he snapped his head up, got up from my bed, took my phone out of my hand and shoved me to the ground. "I didn't know you had a crush on me," he said.
Mal walked over to me and gave me her hand so that she could help me up. I stood up and wrapped an arm around her waist and watched to see how it would play out with Lonnie and Jay.
"Yeah. No shit Sherlock," we heard Lonnie say.
Mal and I heard Evie whistle at us, gaining our attention. She gestured her head to the door and pointed to her phone with the time that said it was 7 a.m. Mal looked up at me and rolled her eyes. I laughed as I leaned down and gave her a small kiss before she left to get ready. I watched as she, Evie and Carlos left while Jay layed back down on my bed and talked to Lonnie. I then got his attention and gestured to him that I was going to get ready, leaving him in my room with my phone.
By the time that I was ready it was 7:45 and Jay was still on the phone laying on my bed.
"Lonnie? Don't you have class in 15 minutes?" I asked as I picked up my watch from my nightstand and took my phone from Jay.
"Yeah. I'm walking there now," she said.
"Okay. I'll let you say bye to Jay because we gotta get going too," I said and passed the phone back to Jay.
"Okay,"
I walked back into my bathroom to let them talk and when I came back out Jay looked at me with a pout.
"What?" I asked.
"I can't believe you did that," he said. "Normally I would kick your ass for embarrassing me, but you're dating my sister now so I can't. Plus, you're the soon to be King, you brought us here, I actually like it here and Lonnie asked me to go to your coronation with her." He said, making me smirk at him.
"Well, I'm glad," I said. "You ready?"
He nodded his head and we left my room. We walked down and when I didn't leave him while he went into Remedial Goodness he looked at me confused.
"Are you ditching?" I heard from behind me.
I turned to see Mal, coming into the classroom with Evie and Carlos. She was wearing a short black skirt that flares out slightly with a lilac sweater. She was wearing stockings and had a pair of black ankle boots. Her hair was down and loosely curled, letting her lay past her shoulders. Fuck! She looked hot! I stared at her with a gape in my mouth.
"Well, haven't you been the bad influence in the past couple of hours," she said laughing.
I didn't respond, because I was just staring at her. I have seen her in a bathing suite, but in fucking STOCKINGS. My, Zeus. I would pin her to the wall again if we weren't around other people.
"Aww. Babe. Close your mouth," she said as she walked up to me and pushed my chin up to close my mouth. "You're going to catch flies," she finished with a laugh. "What are you doing here?" she asked as she set her books down on the table next to us.
"Secrets," I told her with a smirk, before I pulled her chair out for her and she sat down. I did the same for Evie and then sat on top the table behind them.
We then heard heels coming into the room and we turned to see FG walk in with a smile on her face. "Good morning, everyone!" she exclaimed as she walked up to the front of the class. "I hope all of you had wonderful evenings," she said and then turned to look at us. "Now, as all of you know, Family Day is tomorrow and all classes are canceled for the rest of the week for Ben's coronation," she said gesturing to me, making me give her a small smile. "So, Prince Ben and I arranged a little surprise for you," she said as she pulled a television in front of them. "So, let's gather around and surround the screen," she finished.
They looked at each other and then looked at me with curious looks. I just shrugged and then waved my fingers for them to go ahead. When they turned I took my chance to pull my laptop out and sat it up on the table, next to Mal's books.
Once I had everything set up, I pressed the call button and turned the screen to around, because let's face it. I was afraid to meet the King of the Underworld.
(NO ONE'S POV)
Evie, Mal, Jay and Carlos stood in front of the black screen, while FG stood to the side and Ben was fiddling with his laptop and then turned it to face the Isle kids back. They were confused looking at the black screen until it turned on to see their parents trying to figure out what was going on.
"Can I please see a remote?" Maleficent yelled, making the Isle kids jump in surprise. "Is this thing on? Ugh, It's broken. Ugh! I hate electronic equip... Oh!" she said as she hit the screen.
"Evie, It's mommy!" Grinhild said, gushing at Evie. "Oh! Look how beautiful. Oh, you know what they say, the Poison Apple doesn't fall far from the tree."
"Don't you mean the weeds?" Maleficent said, gaining a scowl from Grimhild.
"We miss you!" Curella shouted.
"You children are never far from our thoughts," Jafa added in pulling his face too close to the screen.
"Ah! Who's the old bat?" Cruella asked.
"That's Fairy Godmother, mom," Carlos stated firmly.
Carlos loved his mom, but he wasn't going to let her disrespect FG like that. Jane was his soulmate and he really really liked her.
"Still doing tricks with eggplants?" Maleficent asked, laughing at her own joke.
"Whatever, mom. She turned a pumpkin into a beautiful carriage. Not like your curse with a sewing needle," Mal told her, rolling her eyes.
"Mal!" Maleficent yelled, realizing that Mal was standing off to the side, trying to hide Ben from her mother's view.
"Yeah. Hi, mom," Mal said with a wave.
"Who is that behind you, baby?" Maleficent asked with a fake smile.
"No one. Just another student," Mal stated firmly, walking closer to the screen, so that Ben was completely hidden.
Maleficent squinted her eyes, looking at her daughter sceptically. "How long must mother wait to see you?" Maleficent asked sweetly. "I can't wait to get my hands on that ma…" Maleficent started, but was cut off by another voice in the room.
"I already told you she is not stealing the wand for you, you gecko!"
Mal snapped her head to see Ben standing with his laptop screen facing her and her dad was on the screen.
"Daddy!" Mal yelled. She looked at Ben who had a small smile on his face. She ran forward and took one of the chairs to sit in front of the screen.
"Mal!" Maleficent yelled, but Mal ignored her and went to talk to her dad.
"Maleficent! May we talk to our children?! Yours isn't even paying attention to you anymore!" Grimhild. "If you want to talk to her, maybe you should go to Hades' cave," she finished and shoved Maleficent out of the frame.
(MAL'S POV)
"Hi, daddy!" I told him with a big grin on my face.
"Hi, baby girl! How you doing?" He asked, smiling at me.
"I'm good," I said as I peeked up at Ben and smiled.
"Good. How is school going?"
"It's going really good. I only have four classes, but I picked up art as a fifth elective, but it's during the sixth period," I told him.
"Well, I expected nothing less. At least one of my kids has brains," he said, looking to his side and out of the frame.
"Ha. Ha, dad. Can I say hi to Mally now?" I heard Hadie ask, making me smile at hearing my little brother's voice.
"Hang on. I want to talk to her for a bit, then you can talk to her," he told Hadie.
"But dad…" Hadie whined.
"No buts. I need to talk to your sister," my dad said firmly.
"Fine. You have 10 minutes before I jump you," Hadie told him, making my dad chuckle before looking back at me.
"Now back to you, young lady," my dad said firmly. "I know I told you to meet your special someone when you left and I am going to regret asking this…" he started and rubbed his face. "Did you meet anyone who's soul I am going to torture after they die?" He asked, making me laugh.
I looked up at Ben to see his eyes wide and his lips were sucked in, making me laugh at him.
"Do you want to meet my dad?" I asked him.
"Wait! You met him already?" My dad asked.
I looked back at him and nodded my head.
"Oh, my brother! I'm not ready for this!" He exclaimed. "You're my baby girl. I don't want boys around you!" He said, making me laugh. "There is no one good enough for you!" He finished with a huff.
I looked up at Ben and he had a small smile on his face and then nodded his head. It was then I realized what he was wearing. He was wearing a fitted light blue dress shirt, with the top two buttons undone, and a pair of midnight blue dress pants. Damn, I can see all of his muscles in that shirt! Not now, Mallory! He is about to meet you FATHER! Ben walked around the table and pulled the chair out that was next to me. I looked at my dad who was glaring at the screen.
"Okay, dad. Be nice," I said before Ben sat down and I moved the computer so that both Ben and I were in the frame. My dad's eyes widened when he saw that Ben was sitting next to me.
"Damn, Mally. When I said you find your special someone, I didn't think you would snag the King," he said, making Ben and I laugh.
"Well I didn't. I snagged his son," I said jokingly, making Ben laugh and my dad roll his eyes.
Ben gave a small wave to my dad. "Hello, Lord Drakos."
My dad squinted his eyes at Ben. "So you like my daughter?" He asked bluntly.
"Ummm…" Ben said, nervously as he looked at me. "Yes. Very much so," he finished with a small smile.
"I see. What do you like about her?" My dad asked.
"Dad!" I shouted, glaring at the screen.
"Well, she is beautiful, artistic, smart, kind, caring, funny…" Ben started, making me look at him and smiled. "She has the most beautiful singing voice I have ever heard. She is a great baker. She's very sassy and I like that about her. She's very good with a sword…" Ben continued.
"Okay. What did you think of her, the first time you saw her?" My dad asked.
"Oh my, Zeus, dad!" I groaned, slumping in my seat.
"I thought that she was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen," Ben told him, making my cheeks heat up. "When she stepped out of the limo, my mind went blank and I didn't know what to do or say. Jay actually broke me out of my trance, because I was in the middle of introducing myself to him before she stepped out of the limo," he finished.
"What are your intentions with my daughter?" My dad asked with a dark glare.
"Ummmm…" Ben started.
"Alright! Times up dad!" Hadie shouted. He dove at my dad pushing him out of the way and onto the floor. "I want to talk to Mally. It's called family day not hog my sister day," we heard Hadie say.
Ben and I stared at the screen for a couple of seconds, trying not to laugh and then Seph sat down and smiled at us.
"Hello, Mally. Prince Ben," she said.
"Hi, Seph!" I exclaimed, excitedly.
"Hello, Lady Persephone," Ben said.
"My. Don't you two look cute together," she told Ben and I, making both of us smile. "I always knew Mally would find someone who is good enough for her," she said. "Are you doing okay, Mally? Do you have enough money?" She asked.
I nodded my head. "Yeah. I am doing great! And no I have plenty enough, thank you though," I told her.
"Okay. You just give me a text and I will gladly add more," she told me.
"I will. But, Ben here has been paying for my food," I said nudging Ben in the ribs.
"Well, duh! You're my girlfriend. I wasn't going to have you pay for food when I could do it for you," Ben said to me.
"Ben. I'm a big girl. I may not have a job to earn my own money, but I told you that I could pay for things," I told him.
"Yes. Yes. I know," Ben said with a small smile, making Seph laugh at us.
"Okay mom. Can I talk to Mally now?" Hadie asked.
Seph looked to her left and smiled. "I honestly don't know why you boys didn't just push the laptop back so that all of us could see her," she said as she moved the laptop back so that all three of them were in the frame.
My dad and brother looked at the screen and then pursued their lips. I swear they could be twins, besides the age gap. "Well, the smart one left to Auradon," Hadie stated, making Ben and I laugh. He looked at us and then his eyes widened. "Woah. You're Prince Ben. What are you doing with my sister?" he asked, gaining a slap on the head from both Seph and my dad. "OW!" he shouted, rubbing his head. "I just wanted to know how Mally snagged the soon to be King," He said, as he pulled out another chair to sit in.
"You know, Hadie. I hope you don't find your soulmate now," I said to him, turning my head and crossing my arms, making it look like I was actually mad at him.
"Wait! Soulmates?!" My dad asked, making Ben and I nod. Ben and I then lifted our fingers to show our marks and my dad's eyes widened. "That's still not going to save his soul if he hurts you." he said.
Ben wrapped an arm around my chair and kissed the top of my head. "Trust me, Lord Drakos. That is never going to happen," he said.
"I see… well…" my dad started.
"Dear, Ben is an amazing young man. He is worthy of her and she is worthy of him," Seph said to my dad.
"Well, he better be if he is going to be with my princess," my dad told Seph.
I smiled at the nickname my dad called me. He has always called me his princess and I always hated it, because I am not a prissy pink princess, but I always let it slide because it made my dad happy.
"Mally!" Hadie yelled. "How is Auradon?"
I laughed at him and his excitement. "It's okay, Hadie," I said, looking up at Ben, who looked at me with a smile and then rolled his eyes.
"The sarcasm has not gone unknown, Mally" Hadie said with a smirk. "I miss you," he said, turning his smile into a small pout.
I looked at my baby brother and gave him a small smile. "I miss you too, Nightlight," I told him.
"Mally?" Seph asked.
I looked at her and nodded my head.
"I am leaving the Isle today and was wondering if you would like me to go to family day tomorrow?" she asked.
I smiled at her with a huge grin. "Of course! I would love you to come!" I said to her.
She smiled brightly at me and then looked at my dad who grew a smile as well.
I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to see FG standing behind me. "I am sorry, dear. Class is almost over and I do not want you and Ben to be late for your next class," she told me with an apologetic look.
I looked back at my screen to see my dad and Hadie's faces fall.
"I guess we will see you on the next family day, Mally," my dad said sadly.
"Actually," Ben said, gaining my attention. "You can keep the laptop and you can call Mal whenever you want," he said with a smile on his face.
"What?!" I said tuning my body to him.
He smiled and nodded his head. "I bought you a laptop and I had it sent to your room. You can call your dad and brother whenever you want," he said.
I smiled brightly at him and I couldn't contain myself. I pulled Ben by the front of his shirt and kissed him deeply. I couldn't believe that he would do that for me. I honestly think I am falling in love with him.
"Hey hey hey hey hey. I don't want to see any of that," my dad said, making Ben and I break apart and laugh.
"Sorry daddy," I said with a small smile.
"Yeah. Yeah. I'm still that way with Seph, but I don't want to see my daughter doing that," he said, making a face at us. "Anyway what class do you guys have next?" he asked.
"We have French Advanced Honors," I told him.
"No Greek classes?" my asked, holding his hands out, making me shake my head. "Alright, fine. I guess it's something," he said.
"Dear, we have to let them go," Seph said, placing a hand on my dad's shoulder. "You can talk to Mally later," she told him and then looked at the screen. "I'll see you tomorrow, Mally." she said with a smile and then walked out of frame.
"Okay. I'll talk to you later, Mally," he said smiling at me.
"Bye, daddy," I said, waving to him. "Bye, Hadie!" I said waving to my brother.
"Bye, Mally!" he said smiling.
"Oh, hey!" my dad said. "Beastie Jr." he said, making Ben look at him. "You take care of my girl," he said pointing at the screen. "And thank you," he finished.
I looked at Ben and he smiled at the screen and nodded.
"Always," Ben said as he wrapped an arm around my shoulder.
My dad nodded and then the call ended. I looked up at Ben and smiled.
"Thank you," I said before I kissed his cheek.
"You're welcome," he said as he stood up and offered me his hand. "Shall we go to French?" he asked.
"Yeah," I said, taking his hand.
I grabbed my bag and Ben grabbed my books. I looked back at Evie, Jay and Carlos and saw that they had smiles on their faces. Maybe their call went well too. I waved bye to them and let Ben lead me to the library. We walked hand in hand and I was still happy about Ben meeting my dad.
"I think my dad likes you," I said as we walked into the library.
"I hope so," he said letting my hand go and pulled out my chair for me. "I mean, I'm not letting you go anytime soon," he told me, sitting down next to me.
"Glad to hear," I said, winking at him.
The rest of our classes went by pretty fast. After Calculus I went and watched Ben and my brothers at R.O.A.R. practice. After their practice Ben walked me to art and as we walked up to the art room we saw Trevor standing outside of the room and it looked like he was waiting for something or someone. I felt Ben squeeze my hand and I looked up at him and smiled. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him in for a kiss. He placed his hands on my hips, pulling me close and dipping me a little bit. When he put me straight up we broke apart and smiled at each other. He glanced to his left and then smiled at me again.
"Maybe he got the hint," he said, tilting his head a little.
I saw that Trevor was not standing by the door anymore. I looked back at Ben who gave me a quick kiss and then started to walk backwards.
I acquainted my eyes and then laughed. "You did that on purpose didn't you?" I asked.
He shrugged and winked before turning the corner leaving me to go to my last class.
I wish art class went as well as the rest of the day went. Trevor kept trying to talk and flirt with me and it was making me uncomfortable. I just wish he would stop and just be my friend.
After class I was walking out of the room and I heard Trevor yell my name. I stopped right outside of the door and turned to see him walking toward me.
"Hey did you need something?" I asked.
He smiled at me. "Yeah. I was wondering if you…"
"Hey, babe." Ben said, cutting Trevor off and wrapped an arm around my waist.
I looked up and smiled at him, making him kiss me on my head. He then turned to Trevor and gave him a fake smile.
"Hey, Trevor," he said.
"Um… Hey, Ben. How's it going?" Trevor asked.
"Great. I just came to pick Mal up so that we could spend some time together," Ben told Trevor.
"I see… " he said, shuffling his feet back and forth.
I looked back at Trevor. "So, what did you want to ask me?" I asked, making Trevor's eye widen and then he looked at Ben.
"I was going to ask you if… you finished your painting for tomorrow?" He asked.
I looked at him curiously. He knew I finished it. He wouldn't leave me alone and would always be over my shoulder today.
I nodded my head at him. "Umm… Yeah. You saw it being hung up. Remember?" I asked.
"Oh, yeah. I forgot. I guess I'll see you around then," he said as he turned and left.
"That was weird," I said as I turned back to Ben.
"Yeah," Ben said, looking at where Trevor was walking. "So., you want to go and watch a movie in my dorm before dinner?" he asked me.
I smiled at him. "Yeah! Let's go," I said, taking his hand and letting him lead to the dorms.
"So… all of our parents stories and fairytales were made into movies?" I asked Ben as he was flicking through the movies that were on his tv.
"Yeah, and some of them have been remade too. Like my parents, your mom's, Cinderella's and others," he exclaimed.
"What's the difference?" I asked.
"Well your mom's is way different than the one that was originally made, but it is different too," he said. "Do you want to watch it?" He asked.
I shook my head. "I don't want to watch it. I can only imagine what happened. I don't want to actually see people reenact it," I told him.
"Okay. What do you want to watch?" He asked.
"Well we didn't get to watch that much tv on the Isle. The only movies I remember really liking were Grease, Rocky Horror Picture Show and Flowers in the Attic," I told him.
"Well, how about Rocky Horror Picture Show?" He asked. "It's something you have seen and it's October, so it's close to Halloween," he said with a smile.
I nodded my head and smiled. He put the movie on and we laid on his bed and watched it. I laid my head against his chest and he wrapped an arm around me, pulling me as close as he could, pulling a blanket over us so that we were more comfortable.
I woke up to knocking. I opened my eyes to see that Ben and I had fallen asleep watching the movie. I looked up and saw Ben fast asleep. He was laying on his side and resting his head against one of the pillows. He had both of his arms wrapped around my waist and was snoring/growling lightly. He looked so cute sleeping and I didn't want to wake him. I heard a knock at the door again and slowly, making sure not to wake Ben up, moved his arm and slowly got out of the bed. I straightened my skirt and fixed my stockings and then walked to the door. When I opened it, it surprised me to see all of our friends standing there.
"What are you all doing here?" I asked.
"Well, you guys missed dinner," Evie said.
"Yeah, so we all went to town and picked up some pizza and we could have a small little party," Ryder said as Aziz held up 5 boxes of pizza.
"Why so many pizzas?" I asked with wide eyes.
"Well, us MEN can eat," Chad said, puffing his chest out.
I laughed at him and then looked back at the bed to see that Ben was still asleep. I quickly nodded my head at them and they all came into the room and I closed the door quietly. Once I closed the door I walked over to the other side of Ben's bed and softly shook his shoulder.
"Ben," I said. "Ben, wake up," I said, shaking him a little harder.
He turned to grab me and pulled me onto the bed and pulled me close to his chest, nuzzling into my hair.
"Ben. People are here," I said to him.
"How many?" He asked into my hair.
"All of them," I told him.
"UGH!" He groaned, making everyone laugh. "They can watch," he said.
"Woah woah woah!" Jay and Carlos yelled. "We don't want to see that!"
"Oh, Zeus! Not that you airheads!" Ben exclaimed, lifting his head to look at them. "You can watch us sleep," He started pulling me close and shoving his face into his pillow.
"But, Ben, they brought pizza," I said teasingly.
Ben turned his head in my direction and opened one eye, with a smile. He then let go of me and sat up straight.
"Fine. But only because you brought food," Ben said pointing at all of them, making them laugh.
We enjoyed the rest of the evening and close to curfew we all went to our rooms. As we left, I turned to look at Ben who was standing in the doorway. He smiled down at me and then leaned down to give me a small kiss on the lips.
"I'll see you tomorrow," he said against my lips.
"Okay. Goodnight," I told him.
"Goodnight," he said.
I turned and walked to my room and when I got to the door, I turned to see that Ben was still looking at me with a smile on his face. I smiled and then waved before walking into my room and closing the door behind me. I hope tomorrow goes well…
I woke up the next day to a knock at my door. I groaned and pulled the covers over my head.
"Oh, Mal. You need to get up and get ready. It's Family Day and Seph is coming," Evie said and laughed as I heard her get out of her bed.
She came and pulled on my covers, making me groan and hold on to them tighter. She huffed in defeat and let go. I heard her walk away, probably to open the door for whoever was knocking.
"I know Seph is coming," I said. "I also know that she knows how much I like my sleep," I said as I buried my face into my covers.
"Yes, Mally. I do know how much you love your sleep," I heard someone say, making me snap up and look at who it was.
"Seph! You're here!" I exclaimed, jumping out of bed to give her a hug.
I almost knocked her over, but I was so excited that she was here.
"Hello to you too, Mally," she said laughing and wrapped me up in her arms.
"Sorry! I am just so happy to see you," I said letting go of her.
"I can tell," she said smiling at me and then turned to Evie. "Hello, Evie. How are you doing dear?" she asked Evie, giving her a hug.
"I am doing good. The only struggle is getting Mal out of bed," Evie said, giving me a playful scowl.
"Well, I think we all know the struggle of that," Seph said with a laugh.
"So… Shall we start getting you ready?" Seph asked.
I looked at her confused. Why so early? Family Day doesn't start for a couple more hours.
"Why so early?" I asked.
"M. It's almost noon," Evie said, showing me the time on her phone.
"Crap!" I yelled before running into the bathroom to shower. I'm supposed to be in the art room at 1!
"Language young lady," Seph said with a stern tone.
I was in such a hurry I didn't think about what I was saying. "Sorry, mom!" I yelled before I closed the door and froze at the realization of what I just called her.
When I was in the shower I was dreading going out and things being weird between Seph and I. I have gone 15 years without calling her mom and I do it today! Gosh! I always thought of her as my mom but I never said it to her to avoid the awkwardness. I got out of the shower and did the lotion spray routine that Evie had gotten me into and put my robe on. I took a deep breath and stepped out of the bathroom to find Seph helping Evie decide what to wear.
"Oh, Mal. You're out! Okay let's get you ready and we can get the boys and head down," Seph said waking up to me and taking my hand in hers.
"Ummm… Okay," I stuttered.
She led me to my bed, and she had two different outfits laid out.
"Okay. I picked these out because I thought you would look beautiful in either, not that you aren't beautiful the way you are," she went on.
"You're not mad at me?" I asked.
She looked at me with worried eyes. "Why would I be mad at you, Mally?" she asked.
"Well… I called you mom. I didn't mean to… well I have always wanted… I mean… you have always been…" I rambled on.
She took my hand in hers and looked deep into my eyes. "Mally. I am not mad at you for calling me mom. I have always thought and referred to you as my daughter," she explained, shocking me. "I have always wanted you to call me mom, but I never wanted you to feel pressured. I love you, Mally. You are always going to be my little girl even if I am not your birth mother," she said cupping my chin and smiling at me.
Tears gathered in my eyes, and I wrapped my arms around her. I looked over her shoulder and saw Evie smiling at us. She pulled away and picked up the plum purple long-sleeved romper that was lying on the bed. It had a plunged neck, pleated lantern sleeves and had a thin fabric belt.
"Here. I think this one would be best. You can wear your black leather jacket and I bought you some cute black chunky heels," she said as she went to the door and picked up a bag she placed there. "I also bought Evie some fabric and it should be here in a couple of days," she said smiling.
"Seph, you didn't have to do that," Evie said.
"Oh, shush! I did and I will," she said pointing at Evie who smiled.
"Well, thank you," Evie said.
"You do not need to thank me. I told your mother I would look after you when I ran into her on the Isle. She is very happy that you are out of that place and hopes you find the happiness that you deserve. No prince necessary," she finished, making Evie tear up.
Seph pulled Evie and I unto a hug and we stayed that way until my phone buzzed alerting me that I was running late to be at the art room.
"Shoot! I'm late!" I exclaimed, taking the romper and running into the closet.
I quickly changed and walked out to put on my new heels. I looked in the mirror and my hair was still wet. I looked at Evie and Seph and then smiled.
"Beware, forswear, replace the wet with cute hair," I chanted then swished my fingers.
When I looked up and saw that my hair was in a half up half down hairstyle and was curled. It looked really good. I turned to look at Evie and Seph and Seph was looking at me with a raised eyebrow.
"I am going to tell FG about it later. I always let her know when I use magic and for what I am using it for. She is always okay with it because I tell her and am honest with her, plus she says she trusts me with it," I explained. I was not going to tell her about me teleporting into Ben's room.
She nodded her head, "Okay. I just don't want you getting into any trouble," she told me.
I walked to the door, grabbed my bag and turned to look at her. "The only thing that is going to get me in trouble is my smart mouth or breaking Audrey's arm," I said with an evil smile.
"Mally," Seph said with a warning tone.
I opened the door and turned to look at Seph.
"I know. I know. I won't do it, but if she pushes my buttons, I will not keep my mouth shut," I said to her.
"I wouldn't expect you too," she said with a smile.
"Alright. I'll see you guys in a little bit. I'm supposed to sit by my painting and hear what people think of it," I told them with an eye roll.
"Okay. Evie and I will get the boys and we'll see you in a bit," Seph said with a smile.
I nodded my head and closed the door. I quickly rushed down the hall and out of the dorms to the art room. I was running through campus trying to get there in time. I was in such a rush I didn't notice the limo that was pulling up to the front of the school, until I heard someone yell my name, making me turn in their direction. I saw Ben and his parents getting out of the limo.
"I'm sorry, Ben. Your majesties. I am running late, but I'll see you a little later," I said as I walked backwards.
"Where are you going to be?" Belle asked.
"I will be in the art. I have to sit by my painting as parents look around the school," I said to them.
"Okay. We will be there shortly," Adam said with a smile.
I nodded my head and smiled, trying to hide my nervousness about Ben and his parents looking at my artwork. I turned and started to run a little faster so that I wasn't late, but literally ran into Trevor on my way into the art room and fell to the floor.
"Crap. I'm sorry, Mal," Trevor said, offering his hand to me to help me up.
I took his hand and dusted off my outfit. "It's fine. I wasn't watching where I was going," I told him as I picked up my bag off the ground.
"Running late too?" He asked with a smile.
"Yeah. I overslept," I said.
"Well, we better head in so we can get set up," he said holding his arm out in the direction of the door.
"Yeah. I mean how hard is it to move a chair," I said sarcastically.
"Well you have to actually find a place to sit, because your painting is huge! I seriously don't know how you did all of that in two days," He said as I walked into the room.
"I just work fast and let my hands do the work," I said before I took a chair and walked toward my painting.
In all honesty I wanted to get away from Trevor. I didn't want to keep talking to him and have him start his flirting again, especially with Seph, Ben and Ben's parents coming soon. I placed a chair next to my painting and took a look at it. It was really big. I felt someone wrap an arm around my waist and I thought it was Ben until I looked up and saw Trevor smiling down at me. I looked up at him with wide eyes and jumped out of his hold.
"What the hell, Trevor!" I exclaimed, taking a few steps away from him.
"I was just coming to take another look at your painting," he said.
"Well what was with…" I stated, but was cut off by someone wrapping an arm around my waist.
When I looked up I was relieved to see Ben.
"Hey, babe," he said, leaning down and giving me a small kiss on my lips.
"Hi," I said to him.
"You okay?" He asked and then looked at Trevor.
"Umm… yeah. Trevor was just leaving," I said, glaring at Trevor.
"Right. I was just leaving," he said and then walked away.
We watched as Trevor walked away and stood next to his painting. I felt Ben pull me close and rub his hand on the all of my back.
"Yeah… I didn't like that," Ben said looking at me.
"I didn't either," I said resting my head on his chest. "Where are you parents?" I asked him.
"They are going to be here soon. I just wanted to come and see you because I went to your dorm this morning and no one answered," he said smiling down at me.
"Oh. I'm sorry. Evie and I were really tired I guess. Seph woke us up at almost noon," I said to him.
"I see," he said smiling down at me. "I think I better stay here with you until you are able to leave, be…" he started but stopped when he looked at my painting. "Mal. You painted this?" He asked, walking toward it.
"Yeah. I did," I said, walking up next to him.
"It's beautiful," he said.
"Thank you," I told him.
"How much do you want for it?" He asked me.
I was shocked to hear that. I didn't intend to sell it. I was just going to let the art club have it or if FG wanted to hang it up somewhere.
"I wasn't going to sell it. I never sell my artwork. But you can have it if you want it," I said to him.
He looked at me and straightened his posture, letting me realize he was wearing almost the exact same thing as yesterday, but his shirt was white and he was wearing a pair of royal blue dress pants. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me close. I place my hands on his chest right below his two opened buttons.
"I want this painting in my office and I am going to pay you for it," he stated. "So how much do you want for it?" He asked again.
"You can pay me with a kiss," I told him, making him laugh.
"I give you those for free," he said, squinting his eyes at me.
"Well then that just means I owe you more paintings," I told him, shaking my head.
"I would love more of your paintings, but I am going to be paying you for this and I do not care if you throw a fit about it," he whispered in my ear.
"Well, I guess we'll just agree to disagree," I said kissing his cheek and taking a seat in my chair.
A couple of minutes later a bunch of people and their parents came into the art room. The first were Jordan and her dad and mom. Jordan ran to me when she saw me and was so eager to introduce me to her parents. Her dad was very funny and was a smooth talker. Her mother, though I could tell, was very sassy and knows what she wants. Chad and his parents came in and loved my painting. They said that they wanted to buy it but Ben said that he had dibs. Doug came in with his dad. FG popped in with Jane and Cogsworth. Lonnie came in with her parents and I was almost starstruck. Mulan and Shang were big heros on the Isle. I was really excited to meet everyone. Ben left a couple seconds after Lonnie got there and said he was going to get his parents. Trevor's parents came in next. I could tell that it was then because of Ariel's red hair. Trevor went to hug his parents and then pointed to me. They looked in my direction and smiled. They walked toward me and Ariel gave me a hug.
"Mal. It is so nice to meet you," she said over my shoulder. "Trevor has told us so much about you," she said letting me go.
I looked at her with wide eyes. Why was Trevor talking about me to his family?
"Hi," I said.
Then Eric pulled my hand up to his face and kissed my hand. "It is a pleasure to meet you," she said with a kind smile.
"It's nice to meet you too," I said nervously.
I looked to my right and saw Ben was now walking toward me with his parents. Thank, Zeus! When they reached us Ben wrapped his arm around my waist and smiled at Ariel and Eric.
"Hello, Prince Eric. Princess Ariel," he said bowing to them.
"Hello, Prince Ben. It's nice to see you," Ariel said with a smile.
"It's nice to see you too," he said with a kind smile.
"King Adam. Queen Belle. It's always nice to see you," Ariel said to them with a bow.
"It's nice to see you too," Belle said as she came to my side and gave me a hug.
"I see you have met Mal. Isn't she wonderful?" Belle said, squeezing my side.
"She's very talented," Eric said.
"Thank you, your majesty," I said, moving a piece of my hair behind my ear.
"Yes she is. Ben was telling us about her beautiful painting and I am on Ben's side, Mal. You are going to be paid for this," he said with a grin.
"Yes, Sir," I said, smiling and shaking my head.
Ben put his arm over my shoulder and pulled me to him. "That's my girl," he said kissing the top of my head.
"Oh!" Ariel exclaimed. "I didn't know you two were together," she said, covering her mouth.
"Yes. Ben and Mal are soulmates," Belle said smiling at me.
"Trevor never said. He always talks about you. I assumed you were interested in him," Ariel said.
What?!
"No. Trevor is just a friend," I said shaking my head.
"I see. Well, it looks like we need to have a talk with our son," Eric said, taking Ariel's hand and walking away.
"Well that was awkward," Adam said. "Why did she assume you were interested in Trevor," he asked.
"Trevor has been flirting with Mal and hasn't stopped. He said he was going to do it until we break up or until I make her Queen," Ben said shocking me.
When was all of this said? Why didn't he tell me?
"He said that we would never last because we have nothing in common and that she is too good for me," Ben finished looking down at the ground.
He said what?!
"Why didn't you tell me any of this?" I asked him.
"I didn't want you to lose a friend," he said with a shrug. "I was hoping he would just stop over time and move on," he said as he looked at me.
"Ben. You need to tell me these things. You can't hide that stuff from me," I told him. "I do not care if it hurts me, makes me mad, or makes me cry. I just want you to tell me when stuff like that happens or bothers you. Okay?" I said.
He nodded his head and then pulled me in for a hug. I hugged him back and he squeezed me tightly.
"I promise," he said, pulling away from me.
"Well, I am glad that you have fixed this little situation, but we should probably head to lunch. Lady Persephone and the rest of your friends will be waiting for us," Adam said holding his arm out for Belle.
Après toi. Votre majesté, (After you, your majesty,) I said with a laugh.
Adam then looked at me with a grin. "Tu vas être une poignée comme Belle, n'est-ce pas?" (Oh, you're going to be a handful like Belle, aren't you?) he said leading Belle out of the room and she smacked his arm playfully.
"Yes. Yes I will be," I said as I took Ben's hand and we walked out of the room to join everyone in the courtyard.
When we got there I saw Seph and Evie talking while Jay and Carlos were dipping their fingers in the chocolate fountain. I walked forward letting go of Ben's hand to tell them to stop when I accidentally bumped into an older woman.
"Oh. I am so sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going," I started. "Are you okay?" I asked.
She looked up at me and her eyes widened. "You!"
"Umm… I'm sorry?" I asked.
"You look just like her," she snapped and scowled at me.
"I'm sorry. I don't know who you are," I said confused.
"Look at the way you are dressed. Just like her. A slut," she snapped.
"Queen Leah!" I heard someone yell.
Oh shit! Queen Leah?!
"Benjamin." She said. "I see you didn't take my advice and throw this thing back from where it came from," she said, looking at me up and down.
"How dare you! You have no right to talk to her like that!" He exclaimed.
"I have every right for what that thing's mother did to my family! And for what it did to Audrey!" She yelled.
"I didn't do anything to Audrey," I said.
"Shut up! You have no right to talk to me. You are nothing. You don't belong here," she said to me.
"Excuse me Queen Leah!" I heard from behind Ben and I.
We turned to see Seph walking up to us and she was red.
"I would like it if you would stop yelling at my daughter!" She yelled at the Queen.
"Daughter?! Lady Persephone. This is the daughter of Maleficent," she said crossing her arms over her chest.
"And the daughter of my husband. I have watched and helped raise Mallory to be the wonderful and beautiful young woman she is today!" She shouted.
I felt Ben's hand on my waist and an arm around my shoulder and when I looked I saw Evie next to me.
"She is nothing but a slut like its mother. Not worthy of the future King," she said looking back at me. "He needs to be with a princess. Not some slut from the Isle," she stated firmly.
"I am going to stop you right there before I turn you into a plant," she threatened. "Mallory is a princess. My husband, her father, is KING of the underworld. She is his daughter which makes her a princess. So I agree with you when you said that he needs to be with a princess, because he found the best one in any land," she yelled. "And if I hear you ever disrespect my princess again I will make sure that my husband has fun with your soul when you die," Seph finished.
"Well, we will just see if that thing takes the throne, because it is my mission in life to make sure that it doesn't," she said glaring at Seph.
"Well, you can stop your planning mother!" We heard coming from behind Queen Leah.
A blonde in a pink dress was matching up to us and she looked pissed.
"I thought that I told you that you weren't allowed to talk to Mal!" She yelled.
"Aurora! You cannot tell me what to do!" Queen Leah yelled back. "After everything this things mother did unto our family, I cannot believe you are still defending it," she stated to her daughter.
"And I told you that you are the person who drove Maleficent over the edge. Maleficent raised me! I am a wonderful person!" She continued to yell and then walked up to me. "You never listen to my mother. Your mother was wonderful to me. I have heard that she wasn't the best to you and I am sorry. It is my mother's fault that you didn't have a good mother," she said as she took my hand into her.
"It's okay. But if you don't mind me asking. What did you mean when you said it was your mothers fault mine went over the edge?" I asked.
"Mother! What are you doing talking to her?!" We heard Audrey exclaim.
"I am talking to Mal dear. I wanted to meet her, remember?" She asked Audrey.
"But mom she stole my boyfriend and life!" Audrey exclaimed.
"She did no such thing Audrey! I chose to break up with you because I wanted to be with Mal," Ben stated.
"Audrey if you can't behave yourself you and your grandmother can leave and go back to Auroria!" Aurora exclaimed.
"But mom!" Audrey yelled.
"That is it! Leave. Go home! I will talk to both of you when I get back!" Aurora exclaimed.
Queen Leah and Audrey stoned off and left. I looked around and saw that there was a big crowd of people watching us. Jay and Carlos were looking at Queen Leah and Audrey with daggers. Seph was being calmed down by Belle, Adam and FG. Chad and Doug were trying to calm down Ben. Aziz and Ryder were trying to hold Jay and Carlos back from going after Queen Leah and Audrey. Jane Lonnie and Jane were trying to calm down Evie, leaving me alone with Aurora.
"I am sorry for my mother and daughter," she said, still holding my hands in hers.
"It's okay. It's not your fault," I told her.
"Yes. It is theirs, but I wanted to tell you a story if that is okay?" she asked.
I nodded my head and she took my arm and led me to a table a bit away from the others. She then told me what had happened when she was younger. My mother's curse. My mother raising her. My mother breaking Aurora's curse with true love's kiss. And my mother finding her wings burned to ash. She told me that her father wanted to meet me and apologize for what he had done to my mother and for what his wife had done.
"Maybe at a later time. I am just getting all of this information and I don't know what to think of it all," I said.
"I know this is a lot for you to take in, but I want you to know you can call me for anything. Audrey is terribly wrong about you. She is just jealous because Ben loves you and not her," she said making my eyes widen.
Ben loves me?!
"I… ummm…" I stuttered.
"It's okay to be in love, Mal. Everyone deserved it," she said to me.
"I just wished my mother loved me," I said looking down at the ground.
"She does," she said to me.
"She doesn't. She doesn't care about me. She wanted me to steal the wand so that she could attack Auradon. She tried to kill me a few times when I defied her," I admitted to Aurora.
She pulled me into a hug. "I am sorry. If my mother didn't push her over the edge you would have a wonderful mother," she said pushing me away and looking at me.
I looked behind me and found Seph and smiled.
"I do," I told her. "Seph has been the mother I have always wanted. She raised me to be the person I am today. She is my mother," I said with a smile.
"And you are my princess," I heard from behind me.
I snapped my head to see Seph standing behind me with a smile on her face and tears in her eyes. I got up from the table and hugged her.
"I love you, Mally. I always have," she said into my hair.
"I love you too, mom," I said to her.
We released each other and she kissed my forehead.
"Okay. Let's head back over to everyone else. Ben will be worried if you aren't back soon," she said wrapping an arm around my waist.
"Okay," I said nodding my head.
I turned back to Aurora who was smiling at us.
"Would you like to join us for lunch?" I asked.
She shook her head. "No, thank you. I have to talk to my daughter and mother, but you go and enjoy your first Family Day," she said as she stood up and gave me another hug. "I'll see you on Friday," she said and then walked away.
My MOM and I walked back to everyone else and when I saw Ben he ran to me and picked me up, spinning me around.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
I nodded my head. "Yeah. I'm okay," I told him.
"Good I'm glad. I'm sorry that happened to you," he said.
"It's okay, Ben. I'm a strong girl," I told him with a smile.
"Yeah. Just another reason why I love you," he said.
I widened my eyes at what he said.
"What?" I asked.
His eyes widened when he realized what he said. "I… ummm… I said…" he stuttered.
I smiled at him. I pulled his shirt and kissed him, surprising him. He was startled at first but then gave into the kiss and placed his hands on my hips. I couldn't be more happy than I was right now. Ben told me he loved me and I loved him too, but I wasn't going to tell him just yet, because I had a plan up my sleeve.
So what do we think of Trevor?
Do we hate? Are we intrigued? Let a girl know!!
Until next time my lovies! xoxo GM
