During the night, Kion was glad to meet Chris, his new human friend and his family. His parents were happy to show him around much of the Pride Lands for a little tour and the two stories from William Shakespeare was a little concerning for Kion. The one about Romeo and Juliette particularly because the story of how Kiara and Kovu got together was something very similar to the story.
He was looking over in the horizon on the edge of Pride Rock as the crickets were chirping in the night.
Deep down, it somehow made him worried about his big sister and brother-in-law. Mostly because of how the titular characters of Romeo and Juliette died and how tragic that story was. What if something similar could happen to Kiara and Kovu? These two loved each other so much, that they seemed like a couple that couldn't live without one another.
Maybe something awful could happen to either one of them. Something like getting trampled on by a rhino, hippo, or angry elephant if provoked. The Pride Lands are Kion's beloved home, there are still many dangers out there and it mare him more worried about Kiara and Kovu.
"Come on." he said to himself. "They aren't exactly like Romeo and Juliette. But... maybe they met the same way Kiara and Kovu met each other. They fell in love and their families were fighting one another. Zira was evil at first, but she reformed." he nodded his head head sideways in a rapid manner, and tried to shrug it off of his brain. "Why am I even thinking about this? I mean, these families are not fighting anymore and it was just a story." he rolled his eyes as he kept on ranting that something like this would actually happen. Yes, it was complete and other balderdash thinking such nonsense.
He looked over in the horizon and saw a little yellow dot in the savanna. It was from the campfire that the humans were settling at. Small amounts of smoke were coming out from the campsite, and it made Kion a little worried that that there was a little spec of fire down there in the valley. Alas, the human family had some stones around the fire to keep it from spreading. Perhaps fire coming from a lightning bolt would be fine, but if disastrous enough, it would cause a ton of problems for everyone in the Pride Lands
Little did he know that Kiara and Kovu looked at him from inside the cave for a few seconds after walking by the entrance. Kiara, being a loving big sister she was, grew a little worried and concerned just looking at Kion stare off into the night.
Kovu was feeling the same since he probably knows something was going on in Kion's little head right now.
Curious, they both walked outside to go have a talk with him to see if he was alright. Kiara sat down next to him on the right, and Kovu next to his lovely wife. Little Kion was a little too distracted to notice that two lions that really love him sat with him. "Kion?" said Kiara.
The young cub gave out a small yelp, obviously being startled by the sound of his sister's voice. "Oh. Sorry Kiara. I didn't notice you there."
"It's ok. Are you feeling alright?" asked the princess.
"I'm just fine." Kion said, looking at her. His sister gave him a concerned look being his big sister and all. "Really, I am."
"You look a little troubled, little buddy." Kovu pointed.
"What makes you say that?" Kion asked
"Well, you're out here in the night all by yourself." Kiara replied. "Usually, you like to sleep in the cave with me, and mom and dad."
Kion nodded his head and sighed: "yeah, that's what I would normally like to do at night,"
"Come on, you can tell us anything. Remember?" the future queen gently urged him. She even gently nuzzled him to show how much she loved and cared about him so.
At last, Kion couldn't hold it in and realized that he should always trust his family (unless they were possessed and brainwashed by an evil and maniacal demonic lion that Kion just killed a little while ago), and he shouldn't really hold it in himself. Along with talk to his grandparents who would always answer his call.
"OK. I'll tell you guys the truth." the cub sighed in defeat. "I'm thinking about how you guys met like that couple Joel told us about. I'm worried something evil or bad might happened to you too."
Kiara and Kovu couldn't help but look at one another but chuckle. "Oh come on." said Kiara. "We do love each other but we would never do something crazy as that."
"Well, I've always heard that love can make animals do crazy things." Kion admitted.
"Fair enough." Kovu admitted. "But me and your sister are way smarter than that. We wouldn't throw our own lives away because we couldn't get together. Besides, we're already a couple and nothing can ever separate us."
"He's right, Kion." said Kiara. "Besides, it was just a story. it wasn't real."
"It's not just that, but I think the Hamlet story caused my dad to think of bad memories again. You know, Scar?"
"Well, we did notice that." said Kiara admittedly. "But we can't change the past and you know that, right?"
"Yeah. I know that as much as anyone else in the Pride Lands." Kion slightly smiled. "But he's still a little... you know... traumatized from how grandfather Mufasa died and all."
"You're not wrong." said Kovu. "But I think it takes time for something like that to fully heal. The least your dad can do is move on and try to be happy."
"And besides, it's all in the past and we just move forward with our lives." Kiara smiled.
Kion smiled bigger and said: "Yeah. why am I even thinking about this? we're different than those characters. Besides, I've suffered enough trauma as it is."
"Oh don't say that." said Kiara. We will always love you and be there for you." Kiara hugged him close to her. "Besides, we made friends outside of the Pride Lands. And they will be staying here for a few more days. You and Chris can play together or do other fun stuff until he and his family leave."
"True."
"Well come on. Get some sleep." said Kovu. "Got a big day ahead of us."
