The next morning Kion slept peacefully and had a nice dream through the night. It was him with Mufasa and Sarabi like he would mostly have through many nights he would snooze off into sleep. He didn't really feel worried about Kiara and Kovu being like Romeo and Juliette at all. No, it was a very happy dream he was having; for if his grandparents were in it, it always gave Kion a comforting feeling without any worries in the world.
Birds were chirping across the land as the sun was slowly rising over the horizon. The nocturnal animals began to go to sleep through the day, and wait for the night to come once again where they will roam the Pride Lands when the daytime animals were asleep in the night.
Kion awoke with a yawn and stretched his legs. "What a night." he said, trying to regain his vision. He slowly walked outside the cave to indulge the morning fresh air, and he really loved the smell of it. All in all, he couldn't wait to spend another day with his new human friends.
Simba and Nala were the next to awaken and noticed their son was outside already. They smiled and they went outside to greet him. "Good morning, Kion." said Nala. "Did you sleep well?"
"Uh-huh. I was dreaming of grandfather Mufasa and Grandmother Sarabi again."
"That's good." said Simba with a warm smile. He looked over to the horizon to where the human visitors were staying in the savanna. "I see the humans are probably awake too."
"Do you think we can show them around the Rwenzori mountains?" Kion asked
"Maybe Kiara and Kovu can." said Nala
"Unfortunately, me and your mother are too busy fulfilling royal duties today." said Simba with a frown on his face. "But don't worry, i think you will be fine with them. Besides, Joel has his gun... or whatever that boom stick is called."
"True." said Kion. "he did save me and Chris from Ramses with that thing."
"Good thing too." said Nala. "We would have last you forever if he didn't use it on that deranged lion."
"Right?" Kion agreed. "And maybe I can hang out with Chris some more."
"Absolutely." his father agreed.
"Besides, the mountains are a little more far than the Outlands and the Backlands." Nala pointed at the tall, snowy mountains in the distance. "But i'm sure you'll be fine. After all, your sister will be with you."
"True. So guys, can i tell you something?"
"Sure, Kion. What is it?" asked Nala
"Well... the stories of Hamlet, and Romeo and Juliette sound similar to dad's life, and the second story the same as Kiara and Kovu's life." he gave a small frown. "But the characters die and there was no happy endings in them. They sound a little, a little..."
"Dark?" Nala finished for him.
"Yeah, that's right." the cub pointed.
"Oh Kion." said Simba. "It was just a story. It wasn't even real. Besides, we got our happy endings while those guys didn't."
"I know."
"It wasn't real." Nala added. "And if you feel any more troubles, just come and talk to us."
"Or your grandparents." Simba added.
"Right. Got it. Maybe I should go see Chris and the others and spend time with Chris."
"You two really bonded, haven't you?" Simba smiled.
"Hmm-mm."
"We're glad." said Nala. "You guys are hitting it off great."
"We are. I really like Chris. He's a really good guy."
"No argument, son." the king agreed with him. "That Chris is a bundle of joy."
"Well, i'll see you guys later."
"Don't forget to have your sister and Kovu with you." Nala said
"I won't, mom." He went over to the waterhole and got himself his morning drink. Licking little packets of water with his barbed tongue over and over again, it was always refreshing to him as much as any other animal.
As a matter of fact: there was a lone giant forest hog in the far distance of the waterhole, or Kion believed it was a giant forest hog, was getting a drink himself. Giant forest hogs were not really so common out here in the Pride Lands, as they were more found in forest savannas, but there were some out here, just not as much as in their preferred terrain.
Kion was thinking of hunting him as his breakfast, but those pigs were far bigger than warthogs were, especially Pumbaa. It would be a bigger possibility for the suid to crush Kion with his mighty weight.
He decided to just find something smaller and easier to catch for his breakfast. He yawned again and he was startled by a familiar voice. "Good morning, Kion."
Perking his head up like an ostrich lifting it's head from underground, he looked to see that it was: none other than his own girlfriend. "Oh, morning Rani."
"I'm sorry i frightened you." said she.
"No, it's ok. Not the only time."
"hehe. I know that."
"You must gave got up pretty early to come all the way here."
"I can be an early riser, you know?" Rani pointed.
"That makes sense."
"Not like how boys would mostly just sleep pretty much through the day." she then joked.
Kion couldn't help but chuckle and said: "That's mostly a stereotype. Although Kovu can oversleep sometimes."
Rani laughed some more. "I like your integrity. So uh, i was wondering if you would like to come with me to the Rwenzori mountains together. you know, for a date."
"Ooh. That sounds fun." said Kion. "Funny, i was planning on showing Chris and his family a tour up there in the mountains."
He was looking at the beautiful Rwenzori peaks while Rani frowned without him looking at her. Deep down, she wanted this to just involve her and him alone. But, she knows how much Kion has bounded with the human boy.
Rani noticed that they really bonded and were like blood brothers now. For that, she didn't want to ruin it for him. "Yeah, sure. But can they handle the cold up there? They don't really have the fur on them to keep warm from all the snow."
The male cub looked back at her and said: "Well, they said they have the kind of clothes on them to keep themselves warm and not freeze."
"Oh. Alright then."
"Besides, mom and dad want me to gone with Kovu and Kiara up there."
Rani smirked and said: "Parents, am I right?"
"Yeah, I know. They worry too much about you sometimes, even though they know you can take care of yourself."
"Story of my life." Rani rolled her eyes in annoyance just stating it. "Maybe we can find a nice place up there for us to be alone. You know what I mean?" she bounced her eyebrows three times."
"Sure. Maybe the gorillas up there can show them around their home."
"Yes! That sounds great!" Rani realized. "I mean, it's their home and they know it well."
"True."
"Morning, Kion." said Kiara, with her and Kovu coming up him with her signature smile. "Morning Rani."
"Morning Kiara." said the female brown lion.
"Guys ready to go up the mountains?" asked Kovu.
"Ready when you are." Kion smiled
All the young lions went over to campsite where the human family was up and awake. Chris was eating some kind of strips of meat for breakfast sjile looking ar his square device for entertainment. Tara was on her phone, Persephone was taking pictures of some beautiful scenery. For Joel, he was shaving himself with a small razor in front of a mirror to keep his face smooth.
"So what do you guys want to do today?"
"Well, Kion said that he would take us up those mountains right?" asked Tara.
"Right."
"Morning guys." Kion came out from the bushes with the other three lions.
"Ah, speak of the devil." Joel smiled, still having some shaving cream on his face. "We were just talking about you guys."
"So are you guys ready?" asked Kiara
"Almost." said Persephone. "We need to bring our winter uniforms with us first. With all the snow up there, it'll be cold."
"We understand." said Kovu.
Chris went up to his new best friend and said: "We can't wait to go up there. It's going to be fun."
"I know." said Kion. "You will love it up there."
deep down, Rani was feeling a little left out again, and she hoped that she and Kion will have at least a little bit of alone time on the mountains with him.
