Kion was guilty to have unintentionally hurt Rani like that. He surely did not mean to hurt her feelings. Chris and his family of humans were fascinating to meet and observe, and he didn't know that he was making Rani feel left out..
He didn't know what else to do and wondered how he can make things right with her, and make her feel better.
"I messed up." he said to himself. "Rani must hate me now. Gah! I'm an idiot! such an idiot!" he paced to and fro as the continuing snow was falling on his body. Should he just leave her alone for the time being? or should he try something do well-meaning that it will make her forgive him in an instant.
"You seem conflicted again, Kion." said a humble, deep voice. It was Mufasa, and his spirit was shining next to the cub.
"Oh! grandfather." said Kion. "I'm just a little lost."
"I can see that." Mufasa frowned. "But it is completely a misunderstanding for Rani."
"Misunderstanding?" said the cub. "I haven't forgotten our date, but she just... stormed out on me."
"But she doesn't realize how fascinated you have become around Chris and his family."
"I should have paid more attention to her, grandfather."
"She will be fine. Rani will realize the error of her ways and see that you haven't truly forgotten about her."
"You think so?"
Mufasa smiled before saying: "I know so."
"Should i just talk to her?"
"I would say try not to and give her some space. After all, couples always have one or two small rifts." he then disappeared into gold dust
little did he know that someone was watching him. He perked his ears up as he heard the faint sounds of feet stamping on the snowy ground.
Looking around cautiously, Kion suspiciously looked to and fro at where the footsteps were coming from. He heard the footsteps getting louder and louder at every step, and he turned around to see who it was.
Much to his surprise, it was only Heri, the striped hyena that Kion made friends with and he immediately stood down. "Oh, Heri!" Kion said. "It's just you. Sorry, but many animals should know better not to sneak up in a lion."
"True. Don't worry about it. The cold snow up here can make it a little hard to see the horizon from here. I mean, look at this place." said Heri. "The winds are as thick as bubbling, hot spring water." he then sniffed hia dog-like nose a couple of times.
"I know." the cub agreed. "With this wind kind of blocking the view around here, it's hard to tell who might be a friend or foe."
"Heh. I know."
"So what are you doing up here, Heri?"
"I can ask you the same thing, Kion."
"Well... it's complicated." the cub looked uncomfortable about this. "But there are some creatures that me and my family made friends with and are visiting the Pride Lands for a few days. I'm helping them in giving them a tour of the whole Pride Lands... and these mountains too."
"Ooh. That sounds exciting." said Heri. "What kind of animals are they?"
"Humans. They're like... apes or primates. Their closest relatives in the animal kingdom are supposed to be chimpanzees."
"Chimpanzees?" said Heri
"Uh-huh. Sokwe told me that there are chimps living around the mountains and I should stay away from them."
"I would listen to him." said Heri. "Chimpanzees can be the worst. So unpredictable, so sneaky, so loud."
"Funny, Sokwe mentioned that." Kion said.
"And alpha males can be really mean and nasty pieces of work in their families."
"I heard that before, Heri."
"Wait, why are you doing out here all by yourself?"
"Oh, I'm not. I came up here with-"
"Kion?" said Kiara's voice, "Kion! where are you?"
"Kiara?" Kion called out. "I'm here!"
The group caught up with the male cub, and the humans looked at Heri. "Ooh, a hyena?" asked Chris
"Careful, kiddo." said Joel, gently holding him back.
"Whoa. You guys must be humans?"
"Yes." said the human father. "And who are you?"
"Guys, this is Heri. A hyena friend i know that I helped saved his family from pied crows." Kion said.
Heri couldn't help but come up to the boy and sniff him all over. "I've never recognized a smell like this before." The reason why Chris was being smelt was because: he was the smallest human in this group.
"Where's Rani?" asked Kovu
Kion frowned and said: "She says she wants to be alone."
"What? and let her freeze to death?" asked the future king.
"Kion, we can't just let her be out here in the snow for too long. She might get sick." Kiara pointed.
"But she wants to be alone, Kiara. I didn't mean to hurt her."
What are you talking about?" asked Sokwe
"I was going to go on a date with her, but I haven't... I haven't been paying enough attention to her. But i didn't mean to cause this. Look, I've been very fascinated with Chris and the humans since I met them."
"Oh." Chris said. "I didn't mean to get in the way between you guys."
"No! no, no." Kion pointed. "you didn't. It's not your fault."
"It's not your fault either, Kion." Kiara pointed. "It's just a little misunderstanding."
"You're sister's right." said Kovu. "We know you wouldn't mean to hurt Rani."
"But I should probably stay out of her way. She doesn't want to talk to me."
"We understand." said Kiara. "But she should at least get some place warm before she freezes out here."
"Our cave is comfy and cozy." said Majinuni.
"Good thinking, bro." Hafifu added.
"Look, do you know where she is?" asked Kovu.
"Uh-huh." the cub led the group to where Rani was still sitting at.
"Rani?" said Kiara
"Please leave me alone." said Rani.
"Why don't you come in the gorilla cave where it's nice and warm?" Kovu asked
Rani was silent, and the cold blizzard was starting to get to her. "OK." she sighed in defeat.
