Toothless POV

My sleep last night had been light. My senses were alert so that if anything tried to take my hatchling away from me, I would know.

Last night was hectic, for me, and especially for the tiny being that I was holding. He was betrayed by his own sire, and almost murdered in cold blood for whatever reason I do not know, but I don't care, because it is not right to kill something his size and age.

I looked down at him in my paw, against my chest sleeping. His cute little body was moving from the breaths he was taking.

I don't know what to do. I don't know how to raise a hatchling, much less a viking one, and one of his small size. I was arguing with myself in my brain trying to figure out how to take care of him.

My thoughts were interrupted when I felt more movement in my paw. Hiccup was waking up. I looked down and saw him awake, taking in his surroundings, clearly surprised about how high he was off the ground.

He looked up at me with his forest green eyes, and I lightly nuzzled him. I wish I could speak to him, but he had difference vocal chords than I do. Suddenly, I heard a small growl coming from below me, which I realized came from Hiccups stomach. I nearly facepawed myself as I realize how long it must have been since he has eaten.

I walked over to the body of water that we slept beside, and gently set Hiccup down. I dipped my head in the water and snagged a few fish.

I dropped them from my mouth beside Hiccup. I gave him a little nuzzle and waited for him to eat.

He looked up at me and opened his mouth, but then closed it, as if he were afraid to speak.

He finally told me that he couldn't eat raw fish because it would give him a "tummy ache". I was a little confused, but I knew that due to differences in animal classes and sizes, I should have known that his diet would be a lot different than mine.

I charged up an extremely small plasma ball, not wanting to hurt the little one, and blasted the fish, cooking them in an instant.

He picked up a fish and started eating it, clearly eating like he hasn't in a long time.

After he was done he picked up another fish and ate it too.

He looked up at me and told me thank you in his cute little voice. I nuzzled him again.

He then looked up at me with tears forming in his eyes. Oh no! I didn't want him to cry, he's been upset too much. I hate when he's sad.

"Why are you helping me when no one else would?'' He asked me in his small voice.

I gently wrapped by paw around him and brought him to my chest. Damn it! I hate that I can't verbally communicate with him. All I wanted to do was tell him that I cared for him and that everything would be alright, but all I could do was hold him.

He snuggled in to the warmth of my paw as I held him in the crook my neck. I tried to think of a way to make Hiccup less upset.

I used the tip of my tail and lightly rubbed it against Hiccup's body. He started shaking and I could hear his little giggles.

"So he is ticklish," I thought, "That's a good thing to know for later."

He sat in my paw as I tickled him, laughing, his giggles giving me a smile, or as much of a smile as my dragon mouth could make.

I decided to give him a break as I wrapped my tail around him.

He giggled and said, "Thank you, Toothless!" in his adorable voice.

I gently set him on my back and started walking through the forest, to try to find something interesting, and a long term shelter fore and my little hatchling.

It was pretty clear I couldn't return him to vikings, as they would think he was a traitor, and it only made me feel worse when I remembered that he has a mark on his back, which isn't effected, thank the gods, thanks to the fact that Night Fury saliva can heal wounds.

I started thinking about how I was gonna take care of and raise him, as I am a dragon, and he is a human. It was pretty clear he would be protected from danger, as he had me, but food, shelter, everything that a hatchling of his size needs.

I started to smell blood, blood that I don't smell normally, human blood.

I found the source, it was a human, and it was Hiccups father's corpse, the decomposition phase already starting.

I covered Hiccups view with my wings. He didn't need to see that.

I decided that there wasn't anything or anywhere useful near here, so I decided that we should fly somewhere else.

I wrapped my tail around Hiccup and grabbed him with a paw. I placed him securely against my chest, so that he wouldn't fall. I gave him a nuzzle to signal that everything would be alright, and with that, I slowly took off, not wanting to scare him.

I didn't fly to fast as it would scare poor little Hiccup, and because it was easier for me to find proper landscape for shelter.

I was in the sky flying slowly. I looked down the check on little Hiccup, pleased when I saw him sleeping.

Good, now I can fly faster.

I tightened my hold on him and increased speed.

Unfortunately, in the direction I was travelling, it didn't look like there was land for miles, and the only place I knew that was working fifty miles was... Of course! The hidden world!

I scolded myself in my mind for not thinking of that idea sooner. It was the safest place I could go to get him away from those monsters known as the Vikings.

While Hiccup was a hatchling of Vikings, he lost definitely wasn't a viking. His small size compared to other vikings, which were all small compared to me, was one factor.

The hidden world was perfect because no viking knew of it's existence.

The only problem would be other dragons, as they are all used to vikings being these bloodthirsty monsters.

But they would adapt. Hiccup was too small, cute, and fragile for them to dislike.

With that, I changed directions north, towards the hidden world, Hiccup and I's next home.
