We are about thirty minutes away from the hidden world. Hiccup is still asleep in my paw, and the sun is starting to set.
I am looking forward to showing Hiccup the beauty of the Hidden World. It's glow, it's population and different types of dragons and species, it is beautiful.
What I'm not looking forward to is showing him to my family. I don't know what they will think of him, I don't want them to hurt him. I doubt they would, but I don't want them to think he is like the other vikings, which he most definitely is not.
I decided to wake him up so he could find out what it's like to actually fly. I slow down slightly and gently stroke a claw down his back to wake him up.
I feel him start to move and my paw and I give him a smile. He begins to open his eyes and, as expected, the first thing he does is scream out of fear as he looks down.
I tighten my hold on him and nuzzle him to assure him that he is safe in my embrace.
He starts to calm down as I continue to nuzzle and rub him. He looks around, finally comfortable, and in awe of the view that I take for granted, because I see it so much.
I smile at his adorable reaction, and rhetorically say in my language, "Enjoying the view little one?"
"Y-yes," he says adorably... wait...did he..understand me? No, there was no way.
I look down at him and ask, "Hiccup, can you understand me?"
He looks up at me and gives a nod. How is this possible? There isn't anyway a human, much less a human hatchling, would be able to understand Dragonese.
Nonetheless, this is amazing, because now, I can communicate with him better!
I look down at him and ask, "Are you alright little one?"
"Yes." He says with a stutter.
"How are you able to understand me little one? You are not a dragon." I ask him with curiosity.
"Well, " he paused, "My mommy always tooke to see dragons before she was... taken by them." Tears start to form in his eyes.
"What do you mean by taken?"
He tells me, "Well... I never learned how, because it was a few years ago, but my da... Stoick said that she was taken by dragons during a raid, and that's why they are at war with dragons. I never got to know her." He starts to cry.
I frown and pull him closer to my chest, "I'm so sorry, Hiccup. Shhhh... Please don't cry." Taking Vikings was frowned upon in the dragon population, and the few that did were exiled from the hidden world, I never thought exile was good enough. I couldn't imagine losing my mother, father, or brother.
"Don't worry little one, I will take care of you. I will never leave you." I tell him. He presses closer to the warmth of my scales, and I cuddle him closer. Not only is he irresistibly adorable, but he can speak to dragons. He is special, very special, and I believe that my family and the alpha will agree.
"Where are we going, Toothless?" He looks up to ask.
"Well Hiccup, we are going to a special place, a place that has never been seen by humans, well, pretty soon you will be the first human to see it." I tell him, "It is the perfect place for us to go, because my family lives there, and it is the greatest place to protect you from the Vikings."
"Is your family nice like you?" He asked lightly, almost guiltily.
"Of course they are. It might take them a little bit to get used to you, but they'll eventually love you like I do." I told him with a nuzzle.
"Promise?" He asked in his cute voice. Gods, he is adorable.
"I promise."
I have faith that my family will allow me to keep this promise. And if for whatever reason they don't accept him, they'll have to deal with me.
In the distance, I see the entrance to the hidden world, our new home.
"Look, Hiccup," I said to him, "There's the hidden world, your new home."
I held him out in my paw so he could see, "Wow... what's it like on the inside?"
"You'll see, little one. It's beautiful." I told him.
With that, I started flying down towards the entrance of the hidden world, with my little bundle of joy within my grasp.
"Here we go. Hang on." I told him. I felt him grab on to my paw, and I began to fly faster.
The entrance started getting a lot closer, and closer, and closer, until eventually we made it in to the hidden world.
"Here we are," I said, "the hidden world"
He looked around in awe and amazement at the size and space.
I smiled at his reaction and looked around as well. It has been a while since I've been here, and I'm glad I'm finally back, and even more glad to have brought Hiccup with me, away from those terrible beings known as vikings.
I began to look around for my birthplace, my home, and my family.
Where is it, where is it... Aha!
I finally see the area that I can to call home when I was born. A large area, even by my standards.
I flew down towards the area, which was covered in crystals. I landed, carrying Hiccup, and looked around for my family.
I heard talking coming from behind a large crystal, sounding like my mother's voice.
I walked behind the crystal and saw them, I hid Hiccup in my paw, "Mother, father, Shadow?"
They turned to look at me, and they beamed when they saw me, "Draco, is that you?" Long time no see, buddy!" I heard my father say.
My mother walks up to me, and we nuzzle each other for a moment, it has been three months since I've last seen them.
My father rubs my head with the tip of his tail.
"Shadow." I acknowledge my slightly younger brother and rub him on the head with my tail like my father did to me.
We finally all get in a group together and nuzzle each other as a family.
"So how was your journey, Draco?" My mother asked me.
"It was... interesting. I got to go so many places and see so many things." I replied to her.
"Well, did you see any other dragons when you were out?" My father asked.
"Well, no, but I did meet someone." I replied. If I. going to show them Hiccup now is the time, "He's here with me."
"Well where is he? And how can you meet someone of he wasn't a dragon? What's going on?" My mother asked.
I cringed and held Hiccup tight against my chest. I am starting to get nervous, but it has to be done.
I took in a breath, and finally took Hiccup from my chest and held him out for my family to see, "Meet Hiccup."
My mother and father stepped back, and my brother let out a hiss.
"A... a viking hatchling?!" My father yelled.
"What are you doing with that thing?" Shadow asked.
I scowled, "Hiccup is not a thing, Hiccup is a human, and he most definitely is not a viking."
"What do you mean he's not a viking?" My mother asked calmly.
"Vikings are not cute like he is, and he has a special ability."
"What ability?" Shadow asks.
I look down to Hiccup, "Why don't we show them just how special you are."
He trembles in fear, but nods, "Okay."
They all looked in shock, "He... He can understand you?!"
I nod, "Yes, he can. I found it hard to believe as well."
"Vikings talking to dragons is impossible. Unheard of." My father says.
"I told you. He is not a viking. he is human." I tell him.
"That's not important. Why did you take him from his home?" My father asks me.
I look at him seriously, "Hiccup was... not treated well at his home. They were gonna kill him for being able to talk to dragons."
They all stood in shock and disbelief, "Those damn vikings! I knew they were barbaric and cruel, but killing their own young? That is just terrible." Shadow said.
I nodded and continued, "I couldn't just watch a viking kill his own son and blood, so I did what had to be done, and I don't regret it one bit. His father had to be punished."
Knowing full well of what he was talking about, they nodded in understanding.
"Now what I don't regret, is finding this little bundle of joy." I held out Hiccup to them.
They all looked down at him to get a closer look, and dawed. Yep. I knew it. They would fall in love.
