Despite how humid and a little unbearable it was when it comes to it, this trip in the rainforest was rather enjoyable for the humans to experience. It was a good thing that the humans brought themselves plenty of their own water to drink in this little journey through the jungle. What's even better was; Amadou was a good kind of friend to hang out with. The mosquito bite repellent spray that the humans put on themselves for protection against the annoying bugs was a little uncomfortable for the forest hog because pigs of all kind have a good sense of smell, but he managed to get over it by smelling some scattered herbs in the rainforest. "Gah, how do you humans take that kind of smell?" Amadou remarked about the repellent spray.
"I don't." said Chris. "It smells terrible."
"I'll say." said Kion. "It might make my eyes bleed, if they run out of water.
"I've smelt many bad things in my time, but not like that." Bunga added before nodding his head to get rid of the smell.
Joel sighed and said: "Look, I know you guys don't like the strong smell of the mosquito bite spray me and my family, but its for me and my family's protection. I mean, look; we don't have tails to keep the flies or bugs off, and our ears are not long enough to do that."
"Good point." said Kifaru. "And we rhinos don't mind the bugs."
"And neither do we Emela-Ntouka." Adewale added. "Pretty much most animals would be able to handle flies or bugs like that. But anywho, you see those mountains over there?" he pointed at a small line of low-altitude mountains covered with lush green trees. "Those are the Mangani mountains now so far from here." Adewale pointed. "It's filled with more birds than anywhere else around here in the rainforest.
"Doesn't look as tall as high as the Rwenzori mountains or Mt Kilimanjaro." Kion said.
"Oh, no." said Amadou. "Not even close. If those mountains were as tall as Mt. Kilimanjaro, then there would be snow and ice."
"That's a good point." Kion said. "And it would probably be colder too. Would it be a bad time to look at the mountain?"
"Looks a little far from here." said Beshte.
"Kinda looks like a struggle to get back down too." said Kifaru.
"Except for Ono, we don't have wings." said Fuli.
"Yeah, it should be easy for me." Ono said.
"And it's a rather sacred mountains for birds to enjoy." said Adewale.
"Oh, we understand." said Rani.
"You know I kinda feel like I'm going back in time to be with dinosaurs." Chris noted
"Dinosaurs?" said Kion. "What are... dinosaurs?"
Chris looked surprised and said: "You really don't know what they are?" Kion nodded his head sideways in response.
"They are like gigantic reptiles that have been here millions of years ago."
"Millions of years?" asked Rani in surprised
"Yep." said Joel. "Long before there were even lions roaming Africa today. And not just those. There were so many kinds of large reptiles and mammals and amphibians that were bigger than any kinds today over the eons, and... went extinct in certain times."
"Why would they go extinct?" asked Drani.
"Well... it's kind of a mystery." Persephone. "No one really knows exactly what happened to many of those extinct animals."
"One of the most common theories on why the dinosaurs went extinct was because millions of years ago, a large, gigantic Meteor or space rock hit a portion of the earth, making the dinosaurs die on impact from the explosion." Tara noted.
"Wow." said Kion in astonishment. "That is crazy. What other animals were there in that time?"
"It's complicated." said Joel.
"Our home used to have lions hundreds of thousands of years ago during a period called: the Ice Age, where most of our planet was covered with snow and ice."
This was very interesting information to Kion and his own friends.
"Here, we'll show you what a dinosaur called: the Spinosaurus looked like when it still lived here in Africa millions of years ago." Joel pulled out his phone to show Kion an example of what a dinosaur looked like.
Kion, Rani, and the rest (minus Joel's family) looked amazed at the size of that kind of beast.
"Wow. That monster used to live on earth?" asked Kion
"Yep. Back then, Earth was very different than today. It used to be a large place called Pangea. It was the only piece of land, but it split up very very slowly into seven different lands over the centuries and eons."
"That is so cool." said Rani.
"Well, we don't want to keep you from this tour." said Persephone.
"Right. Of course." said Adewale. "Let us continue." they walked through many parts of the rainforest, and they encountered many things. Mossy tree trunks, vines, and other unique things found in this kind of biome.
Adewale was the one leading the way and he stopped in front of a large, triangular stone or pillar if some kind.
"This here, is the Rock of Love." said the Emela-Ntouka leader. "It is where many of Emela-Ntouka come to mate and exchange it to one another, as its name implies. Of course, there are other kinds of animals that like to come here and consumate their love with one another."
"You mean romance kind of love, right?"
"Of course." Limali chuckled. "Some hostile animals like to come here as well, and it's best to stay put of their way."
"For instance, there are some gaboon vipers thag like to come here every once in a while." Amadou addes
"Gaboon vipers?" asked Kiara
"Yep. They are venomous kinds of snakes." said Amadou
"And they are the scariest-looking snakes you would ever want to see." said Adewale. "They are a kind of snake you do now want to make angry. They are large ones and very wide bodies."
Chris gulped and so did Raniz hugging one another.
"They can easily be camaflouged in the leaves around here." said Limali
"Which is why you always want to watch your step around here." said Adewale. "Of course, they are not really aggressive. Not like Mjinja here. No, they can be friendly, as long as you don't step on one."
Chris made a gulp of fear.
