It was going to turn into an old-fashioned standoff between the chimpanzees and the other animals (humans inluded). Simba was the one in charge and Kion was right next to his father. Kutojali looked smug thinking he is better than any other animal as usual. He actually thinks he can win this fight against the good animals that would try to oppose him and save the human ladies. "Come now, you cannot hope to compete against me and my family, do you?" said the chimp leader with a smug look on that ugly face of his. "Defeating me is nothing but fruitless."
Simba growled and said: "There is no way I will ever give my our kingdom over to an evil animal like you!"
Kutojali couldn't help but chuckle at that retort the king said. "Come on, Simba. Your home needs to be run by creatures that have the greatest IQ of any kind of creature. Which is us." he pointed at himself. "As you know, were chimpanzees are the smartest kinds of animals in the world and we would be the perfect rulers of the Pride Lands. It needs someone capable. Not by lesser creatures like you."
Simba and Nala just growled in that response. That chimp was obviously insulting the Pride Landers. This ape's mouth was as big as his own inflated ego. "It's not just about intelligence or brains to be a good leader." said Simba.
"That's right." said Nala. "It takes kindness, and compassion to help be a good leader as well. You, apparently, are none of those two things."
"What?" said Kutojali. "I do so care about my own family. I am the leader and i do my best to help take care of them in their time of need."
"You need to be more empathetic towards other animals. We are are just intelligent as you." said Kiara.
"You all wish you were like us, but you wouldn't understand the truth." Kutojali narrowed his eyes. "Something you all lesser creatures cannot comprehend."
"Just give me back my mom and sister!" said Chris in a demanding voice.
"Tut tut." said Kutojali with his right hend in front of him. "I will give your family members back as soon as the king and queen lend their beautiful kingdom over to me."
"I would rather die than surrender or bend to the will of an evil animal like you!" said Nala.
"Neither will I." said Simba.
"Evil? I am not evil." said the chimp. "I am only trying to help out my family here. To help it survive. And i never said i plan to wipe out all the other species from existence." he looked sincere. "I will be more than happy to share my new kingdom with everyone else... as long as everyone follows my rules and does exactly what i say."
"You need to think about the Circle of Life." Kion pointed, with his family and friends saying words of agreement with him. "You have to follow it and think of what other animals need to survive. You don't know what my great uncle Scar did."
Kutojali let out a loud laugh, and said: "The Circle of Life, really? Come on. It is nothing but a superstition that tries to fool everyone in believing that they are only born to be food for predators or rank low on the food chain. All of that is nonsense."
"no, it's the truth." Rani counter-argued.
It appeared that these chimpanzees and their alpha leader, relies on cunning instead of empathy or belief. Hopefully, their cunning and ego will be their ultimate downfall, according to Kion's plan.
Joel was getting impatient, ahd cocked his rifle, aiming at Kutojali. "Whoa there, chief." the chimp leader lifted his hands in front of his chest. "Last thing you want is to have all of my family kill you or maul you to shreds just because you have killed me with your bullets. And I promise you, it will hurt so much, you will beg for death to save you."
"It's ok, Joel." said Simba. "We have this under control."
The human was reluctant but slowly lowered his rifle anyway. He didn't want to see the female members of his family like this anymore, but he complied anyway. After all, he's aware of Kion's plan too.
"Besides," said Kion. "I don't think everyone in the Pride Lands would want you as the new king."
"Oh you all besides us chimpanzees wouldn't know how to chose anything. You're all the masses with nothing to accomplish. But we are full of potential."
"We're getting tired of you boasting and bragging such nonsense." said Kovu
"Yeah, this is your last warning," Nala snarled. "Let them go."
"Or what?" Kutojali asked, ready for a fight
"Or I'll have to hold my shirt against your mouth until you stop breathing!" Chris said, making everyone look at him in surprise. "And until you stop moving." he added. Even Kutojali looked rather surprised at that threat.
"Chris." said Nala in surprise
"I don't think you would go that far." said Kion
"Well, they got my mom and sister. I didn't know what came over me."
"What is going on in your head?" asked Simba.
"You know what they say:" said Vitani, "It's always the nice ones we have to look out for sometimes."
"Sorry." Chris looked a little guilty.
"No, don't be." said Kion. "We will get them back."
"Right." said Simba. He looked at the chimpanzee again before he warned: "You really prefer a stand-off over reason? You prefer playing hardball?"
"I do." said Kutojali. "I love playing hardball. It's one of the many things I love in life."
"We thought you wouldn't be reasonable." said Nala.
"I can be reasonable. If I wasn't, then I would just make you create snow from the sky."
"Have it your way." Simba narrowed his eyes. "But we will never give the rights of ruling our kingdom to you."
"So be it." Kutojali scowled.
Little did the chimps know that other animals were stalking them in the trees from the north of where they were.
In the blue sky, Remy was flying and leading other formidable flying birds of many kinds: martial eagles, maribous, bateleurs, falcons, kori bustards, shoebills, and other kinds with sharp beaks or talons.
"Down there, everyone!" said Remu. He swooped down and the flying birds caught the chimps by surprise. They all began pecking at their heads, and swiping their talons at them.
This gave the perfect opportunity for Remu to free Tara and her mother from being bound they went back to their family. "Mom! Tara!" Chris ran up to her sister and they hugged one another as Joel happily hugged his wife.
"You guys aren't hurt, are you?" asked Joel
"No, we're not hurt, darling." said Persephone.
"yeah Chris." said Tara. "We're fine."
"Good." said Joel.
"Get out of our faces you winged morons!" said Kutojali. He and the other chimps were not going down without a fight, and they tried swiping as much birds as they could.
This gave the animals hiding in the brush behind the chimps the perfect opportunity to charge abd surround them. There came Chikelu, his son Kifaru, the rest of the Lion Guard, Imari with his eland herd and others that lived in the Pride Lands, surrounding the apes to prevent them from escaping this one.
Kutojali and his family were certainly caught by surprise by this turn of events.
"You didn't think we would come empty handed, did you?" Simba looked smug.
Kutojali looked shocked but then sneered. "Very clever, Simba. Very clever indeed.
"Actually, it was my idea." said Kion, looking bold. "I am a cub, but i am a military genius."
The chimp leader then growled and said: "You are just a child. There is no way i am beaten by a kid like you!"
"Well you just have." said Chikelu. "You chimps are all outmatched. You cannot compete with us physically."
"Are you going to kill us?" said a female chimp, looking scared at what could happen next.
"No," said Nala. "We would never execute anyone unless it's necessary."
"After all," Simba added, "we are merciful leaders. But know this:" he sounded threatening now. "If you all ever hurt or try to hurt our friends like this again, you will all be sorry. So don't make us catch you in the Pride Lands again."
