Snow

By Alyssa Howard

The nights are long the days are short,

the snow falls on the ground. It's always winter

here but they are content and sound. They were a happy

family, with mother father dear,

And they did hide their special

secret so their family would not fear.

Then one day it was discovered,

The fear of all was then uncovered,

He killed mother, nearly killed me,

No longer contented could he be,

I got away, but only just,

Everyone seemed to have bloodlust,

To try and kill me, mother too,

And then one day I finally found you,

One who'd take me in,

No matter what my sin,

So I could have purpose,

That came from deep within,

I was scared and I was lost on cold and heartless snow,

But you came and took me in,

my loyalty I'll show.

I feel the burning in my chest,

It seems I have to go,

And now I will be put to rest,

I'm dying now but lo,

I have saved you, one last time,

Thinking of you not me,

I've kept you alive,

So you can live,

I've saved you from a fiery death.

I love you my dear master,

And even though we've parted,

I have realized even now,

You're all I've ever wanted.

Dedicated to Haku, on his dying day.

Thank you.
