Such was the life of a Teen Titan when you return home to find a monster already terrorizing the city. They had spent forever trying to stop it and when they finally had, they were all exhausted, both mentally and physically. If Beast Boy hadn't shown up when he did, the shifter might not have been stopped... When the Titans made sure the creature was safely locked away and they were home safe, however, the boy locked himself in his room without a word to anyone. Robin knew exactly what was bothering him.
Finding his way outside Beast Boy's door, he gave it a couple raps, only to get a: "Please just go..."
Robin frowned, but he didn't move. "Beast Boy... you didn't find Terra, did you?" he asked, letting his hand hang back at his side.
"I thought I did..."
"I'm here to lend an ear if you need to talk."
The silence lasted only a few seconds before the door to the shapeshifter's room slid open. He stared at Robin for a moment, then let his gaze fall to the floor and took a few steps backwards. He returned to his seat on the edge of his bed and the other boy followed, sitting beside him.
"She looked just like her... she sounded like her and acted like her. It just had to be her, y'know?"
"But it wasn't."
Beast Boy shook his head gently. "She asked me why I kept calling her Terra. And she said she didn't remember anything... not the Titans, not Slade. Not me," he muttered, staring morosely at the floor.
"Maybe... if it is her, she doesn't want to remember," Robin said slowly, despite knowing that probably wasn't what Beast Boy wanted to hear.
The shapeshifter stared at his friend, frowning. That was what Slade had said. "But why? She had us, she was a hero! And I loved her... I thought, maybe... that was enough, y'know?" he blurted, the edges of his jade eyes brimming with tears as he looked back down at the floor.
Resting a hand on Beast Boy's shoulder, Robin looked at him sadly. "I know... and maybe it really wasn't her. Maybe the real Terra is still out there somewhere," he offered.
"I hope so... 'cause I... I really miss her," he responded quietly, lower lip gently quivering.
"I'm sorry, Beast Boy..."
