After a long break from this fandom, I'm back with a super short tag to the Christmas episode (4x09)- and I might have more in store for them. We'll see.

Christmas With You

He looks to her sitting in the passenger seat, and he can't help but let out a little laugh. She may not be completely drunk — but she is a little past tipsy, and it's a rare and amusing sight.

"Stop that!" Juliet glares back at him.

"Oh come on, you're gonna be like that when Santa Claus is literally on his way to town?"

She curls her upper lip in disdain, but then her Christmas spirit (or the alcohol in her system) betray her, and it only takes seconds before her attention drifts to the radio.

"I love this song!" she announces and the rest of the car ride turns into a Christmas karaoke session – with him occasionally chiming in.

The irony of the situation isn't lost on him, after all she was the one to suggest he needed a drink after Lia turned down his invitation. But he suspects that her recent breakup affects her more than she lets on, and if butchering the lyrics of Little Saint Nick helps her to get through the holiday he's happy to provide backup vocals.

Back at Robin's Nest, she insists he'd join her for a nightcap.

The sensible thing would be to say goodnight. It's been a long day… But it's also Christmas Eve and it's really not fair that she's going to be the only one with a hangover in the morning. So he joins her on the couch by the fireplace, making sure that her glass of spiked eggnog is low on the bourbon – an effort that is rendered mute when they forgo the eggnog altogether by the second serving...

"Tonight was great," she notes, stretching her legs out as far as the space between them allows her.

"Yes, Kumu really outdid herself," he moves her feet into his lap to make her more comfortable.

"No, I mean Christmas with you..." she yawns, and he can tell that she's about to pass out.

"I'm doing my best," he laughs and starts rubbing her feet, briefly wondering how Lia would react to this scene, or rather if she would react at all…

The quiet moment ends when he touches Juliet's right ankle and she jerks her feet away.

"Ticklish?" he asks and she responds by scrunching up her nose in a way that only she can and it's one of those rare but familiar moments, when she lets him see a different side of her.

"She really doesn't…" another yawn "…doesn't know what she's missing," she reminds him, and the words hit him differently than they did when she said them at the station.

He shakes his head and takes a deep breath before he gets up. "I think it's time to say good night."

"Right," she agrees, too tired to object.

"Do you want help to get to bed, or are you comfortable here?"

"Here's good," she replies and he's somewhat relieved.

"Ok," he picks up a throw blanket and drapes it over her. "Good night Juliet."

He hears a muffled 'thank you' before she drifts off to sleep.

…And somehow he can't shake the feeling that he's the one who's missing something.

Happy Holidays! I feel like Magnum's on his way to figure out the obvious and I couldn't resist to give him a little nudge.

As the title suggests, I plan to post more tags and one-shots. So this is only the beginning (I have a feeling that future episodes might be very inspiring).
