CH 3

Over the next few nights they both talk and Jack told her that he sent the photos and letter to Mrs O'Connor.

"I'll be looking forward to seeing them"

"I bet you are Sam"

Few days later Sam was talking to Mrs O'Connor about her dream with Jack from the night before that makes her smile.

"Samantha, I got his letter" Sam eyes lit up and she smiles

"Have you read it?"

"No I was waiting for you my dear"

Then she pulled the envelope out of her pocket for Sam to see then she opens it and pulled out the letter and unfolded it, there she saw a photo of Jack in his dress blues, she showed it to Mrs O'Connors

"Is that him?"

"Yes that Jack"

Sam looked at him then Mrs O'Connor shows Sam the second photo

"That his stone"

"They must have been a pair"

"Yeah, what did Jack say?"

Mrs O'Connor read the letter out loud not knowing to them both that Sam mother was just about to walk into the kitchen when she heard.

"Dear Mrs O'Connor, I'm Lieutenant Jonathan Jack O'Neill, every one knows me as Jack. I know you are shock with what Sam has told you, well now you know it is true. Sam and I have this strange connection and it has to do with the stones and our birthmarks. Whatever the stones are, I don't know. I took my stone to be analysed and to look for the strange markings that Sam was telling me well I found them and I'll write my stone marking on the bottom of this letter so Sam could look at them. When we were talking in our dreams. I got the results back and my friend can't make heads or tails, he tried every known experiment known to man, heat, cold, said every thing, it has know affect on it. I think Sam is right that it not from this world. I have heard of UFOS, seen them on TV but this is weird. One thing that been on my mind is, is it a good idea for Sam and I to meet in person and the stones should we put them together and see what happens next. What do you think if so, please contact me, I'll leave you my address and phone number. Jack. Then he got his address, number and markings" then she look at Sam

"What so you think Samantha"

"Well I would love to meet him in person as for the stones, I don't know, what do you think"

"I would like to meet the lieutenant" they turn to see who is standing in the doorway

"Mum" Sam said in shock she walked in and sat down.

"Sam how long have you and the lieutenant been talking?"

"Almost three weeks mum"

"May I" Sam pass her mum Jack photo, she looked at it and then to Sam

"In the letter the lieutenant said that you and him got a strange connection"

"Yes, Mrs O'Connor can I look at the letter please" she passed Sam the letter and she looked at it

"It the same marking except for this one" she showed both Mrs O'Connor and her mother Jack drawings.

"Are you sure Sam?" Her mother asked

"Yes"

"Well we better get home Sam, we having a barbecue tonight" she said smiling

"Who coming for dinner mum?"

"You will find out soon"

"Ok" they both stood up from the table.

"Sam here you can have the photos" she picked up the photos and pass them to Sam

"Thank you, I'll let you know when Jack can come to visits"

"Ok you do that dear" Sam gave her a hug before leaving with her mother.

Couple of hours later Jacob and their guests showed up. When sam saw who it was

"Uncle George" she said smiling then ran over to him He crouch down so he could give Sam a hug

"Hi Sam boy you sure have grown since I last saw you"

"So have you" she patted his stomach and top of his head

"Sam" Jacob said

"It alright Jacob, she just joking" Jacob look at Sam smiling face and shook his head

"You know Uncle George, if you lose this" she patted his stomach

"Your hair might grow back" George laugh

"I don't think it will grow back Sam"

"Well it would a try" she shrugged her shoulders.

"How is high school Jacob told me that you got into trouble a few months ago"

"Oh that it really wasn't my fault but the guys sure lean their lesion"

"What happen"

"They keep pinching my lunch so I started putting laxatives in my drink and dead chop up worms and slugs in my sandwiches knowing that they would be eating them. They found out one day and they haven't done it since" George chuckled

"So they pick on someone else?"

"Yes, then I told that kid what to do, they soon lean not to take some one else lunches"

"Smart Sam that was real smart"

"Thanks, oh daddy I got another A in science today"

"That good Sam so George another beer"

"Thanks" he walked back into the house and Sam face fell, George saw the look

"Sam what wrong?"

"He always say that every time I get an A in any thing then quick change the subject or he asked Mark. What he gets when all he gets are B and C. when he gets B Daddy happy for him and tells him to keep it up and tells him that he is proud of him. I still think he wants me to be a boy that why he named me Samantha, why can't he be proud of me like he is with Mark"

"I think he is Sam in his own way"

"That what mummy said"

"Well there you go so what else has been happening at school"

Sam started telling him about what else she been doing at school till Jacob return and tells Sam to go and play with the other kids. George saw the sad look on her face when she walked over to where a tree is and sat down pulling her knees up and wrapping her arms around them.

When dinner was ready everyone sat down around the long table and started eating and talking. The kids sat down on a blanket to eat their barbecue hot dog. There were other guests there with their kids.

They were all having fun not knowing that Sam was up in her bedroom, sitting on a window seat leaning against the wall with her knees up looking at the photo of Jack and every now and then looking outside seeing everyone eating, drinking and talking.

"I hope we do meet soon Jack," she said with a tear falling down her cheek.

Sam watches everyone having a good time not knowing that she wasn't there except for George Hammond. He looked around he noticed that Sam wasn't around then he looked up and saw where she was then he look at Jacob as he was talking to his guests, then he looked up and Sam wasn't there.

He knew that she is hurting that her own father has hurt her more ways than one, so he decided to go and talk to her for a few minutes so he excused himself and walk into the house.

He went to use the down stairs bathroom. When finished he walked out to see Sam in the kitchen drinking a glass of milk. She saw him looking at her.

"Sam are you ok?"

"I will be Uncle George"

"Are you going to follow your dreams?"

"Yes, first thing I'm going to do is graduate high school and go to university"

"Well good luck, what about the air force?"

"Dad doesn't want me to join, but I work it out, by the time is do finish getting my doctorate degree I'll be old enough to join"

"You sure got everything planed out?"

"Yes and I'm going to prove to dad that I can be a great air force officer"

"What about you Sam, are you just doing this to prove to Jacob that you want to be an air force officer?"

"Yes and for me to go out in to space"

"What about family Sam, what if you get married someday?"

"Well who every I married, I hope that guy will understand and support me"

George nodded and watches as Sam finished her drink and rinse the glass out.

"Well whatever happens Sam good luck"

"Thanks you better get back out there before dad sends a search party after you" George smile

"Thanks and good luck"

"Thanks"

Then Sam walked to the steps and walk up them while George walked back out side to the party.

Over the next month before the move to Washington, Sam and Jack talk in their dreams. Sam told him what has been going on, even though they have n hour together. They started getting to know one another. Jack didn't know when he would be getting time off which Sam understood.

When Sam moved to Washington, the dreams stop and she couldn't figure out why. She was wondering if Jack was ok, when they last talk he was being shipped overseas for six months.

Sam work harder than before with her studies, she even started up taking tie-quan-do and karate lessons and two other martial arts self defence lesions since her father wanted her to start playing sports so she could make friends her own age, so she decided to join the four clubs.

She even got paper run job which she put her money in her bank account so she could save up much as she can for university. She even still writes to Mrs O'Connor to let her know what has been happening and they she is worried about Jack.

She was doing some Research in the high school library when she read about radio signals and it got her thinking about the stone, so that night she wrote to Mrs O'Connor about her theory and wondering if that is why she wasn't dreaming about Jack.

Sam waited for two weeks and there was no reply, thanksgiving came and gone and Christmas was approaching with still no word from Mrs O'Connor.

Two days before Christmas Sam was at home when the doorbell ring so her mother answered it since it was the school holidays. When she walked into the living room Sam and Mark turn to their mother

"Sam this is for you, it from Mrs O'Connor"

Sam eyes lit up so Sam mother pass the box to Sam and she put it onto the floor and open it up, on top was a letter so she opened it and read it so Mark and her mother could hear what it says.

"Dear Samantha, sorry for not replying so soon. I've been in hospital in the past two months. I had a nasty fall and broke my hip. But don't worry dear, I'm in good hands. The doctors recommend to the family that I go into a home where they could look after me. Today my family took me to different rest homes to check out and I chose a rest home where retired air force men and their wives are. I even spoke to some of the men, they know my late husband for when they were down in Egypt during world war two so I decided to pick that home. When the family started planning on selling all of Brian server nears behind my back I wasn't happy so I ask the staff if some one could take me home so I can send the items to you since you loved them. I have the special ones send as a Christmas and birthday present Sam by couriers and the rest by normal post. I hope that one day you will about to find someone who will be able to translate them. I hope you and your family will enjoy your Christmas and I'll be looking ford to be hearing for you. Merry Christmas from Mrs O'Connor"

"What did she send you dead husband stuff for?"

"Mark that enough, just because your weren't interested in them don't mean you tease your sister like that"

"What ever" he got up and walked out of the room.

Sam mum sat down next to Sam when she pulled out the presents one by one. There was one that was wrapped up in birthday paper. When finish taking everything out of the box she turned to look at her mother.

"Sam do you think she sent you the stone?"

"Yes I'll know tonight," she said smiling

"Do you think you can find someone who can translate the writing on the artefacts?"

"One day I will mum"

"Why don't you go and put them under the tree and I'll put this one away till your birthday" she picked up the present then stood up

"Ok mum"

Then she stood up and put the presents under the tree then she picked up the letter and walk up to her room and sat at her desk and started writing back to Mrs O'Connor and thank her for the presents.

When she put it in an envelope and walk backs down stairs and ask her mum for a stamp. When her mother passed her a stamp and watch her daughter put it on then her boots and Jacket she walked outside and walked down to where the mailbox is and put it in then return few minutes later.
