CH 4

Later that night while Sam was sleeping, she was sitting in the park, and she knew then that one of her presents was the stone. She waited then Jack showed up

"Jack" she said smiling, she ran over to him

"Sam" he crouches down so she could wrap her arms around his neck.

When they both hug he picked her up and walk over to the bench with tears in their eyes. He sat down with her on his lap. When they pulled apart they look at each other

"I miss you Jack"

"I miss you to Sam, what happen"

"It the stones Jack if we are so far apart from the stones, we can't be here like radio signals"

"Wow I couldn't take the stone with me when I went overseas, when I got back nothing happened in the past month then here you are now, you have changed since I last saw you, how did you get the stone?"

"Mrs O'Connor sent it to me with all of her husbands artefacts as Christmas and birthday presents"

"Wow you must be special to Mrs O'Connor, I writing to her and got no reply till today"

"So you know about her accident?"

"Yes and she told me what she done and where she is"

"That was good of her"

"Yes it was alright, so what has been happening with you?"

Sam spent the rest on the time telling Jack about her new school and what clubs she join till they both knew it was time. They wish each other merry Christmas and hug as they close their eyes.

Then they both woke up smiling knowing that everything is going to be alright. When Sam walk down to the kitchen for breakfast her mother saw her smiling know that one of the presents is the stone and she spoke to Jack.

"Did you have a good dream Sam?"

"Yes mum it was a great dream"

"That good to know" she said smiling.

On Christmas day Sam opened her presents from Mrs O'Connor and the first one she open was the stone.

On the twenty ninth of December, just after Jacob left for work a van showed up, it was the rest of the artefacts from Mrs O'Connor. Not long after the guy left there was a knock on the door, so Sam mum went to answer it since Sam was up in her bedroom looking at everything with a smile on her face.

When her mums walked into the room and Sam looked up and was shocked with what she was holding.

"Sam these just came for you"

Sam walked over to her mother as she put the vase on her dresser. There were a dozen long stem pink roses with 'happy birthday' helium balloons. Sam saw the white card and picked it up and opened it and smile.

"Sam who are they from?"

"Jack he wrote 'Happy birthday Sam I'll be looking forward to our hourly chats, I hope these will brighten up your day, Jack'"

"Well it sure has alright"

"I know, he knows how to cheer me up when I'm down"

"That is good to know, I'll leave you alone"

She walked to the door and turn to close it when she saw Sam smell one of the roses with a smile on her face then she closed the door.

That night Sam and Jack were dreaming again. When she saw him and they both hug, she gave him a kiss

"Thank you for the roses, they were beautiful"

"So you did get them ok then?"

"Yes" they sat down on the park bench

"What else did you get?"

"Birthday card from Mrs O'Connor and letter from her, she said that she is happy where she is and what she got for Christmas"

"That good, did you get anything else?"

"Birthday cards from grandma and grandpa, they sent me one hundred dollar"

"Wow so what are you going to do with that money?"

"Bank it" Jack smile

"Remember when were talked couple of days ago and I told you about some of us guys went to Texas and we went to the race track"

"Yes and you told me names of some horses"

"Yes and you told me what names you like"

"Yes"

"Well I made a bet on them and won" Sam eyes lit up

"You won?"

"Yep when I won the first time I promise myself I was going to split the money with you"

"Jack wow"

"Sam you are my lucky dream charm" sam giggle

"How much did you win?"

"Well there is enough for you to go to university for a year, for all the books you would been needed and dorm fees for a year"

"Wow, thank you Jack" she gave him a hug

"Any time, so the next time I get a chance I'll tell you the horses names and you choice, how that sound"

"Sounds good to me, but why?"

"Well I'm trying to save up for a house in Colorado Springs"

"Ok"

"Did you have a birthday party?" Sam face fell

"No I saw dad this morning, he didn't even wish me a happy birthday"

"Well at least some of us remembers"

"I know"

They talk about other things till it was time; they both said their good nights before falling asleep.

Over the next couple of months they have been talking about what has been happening, making each other laugh. On Valentines Day Sam got eleven yellow and one red rose from Jack which she loved.

When Sam went up a grad and when she 'A' on her tests and SA she tells Jack which make them both happy. When Sam goes up a level in one of her martial arts club it make him proud for what she has accomplished in that time they got to know one another.

Over the next seven years they got to know one another and even talk when one or the other is down. When Jack was promoted and getting rewards, it made Sam happy. When Jack has a day off he goes to the races after he tells Sam names of horses and she pick names and he makes bets and wins.

Every year they send photos to each other Sam send her copy of school photo and when she is wearing one of her martial arts uniforms. When she goes up a level and she even sent him a photo of her in her cap and gown from her high school graduation.

Jack watches as Sam grows into a beautiful young woman every night he sees her. Sam watches Jack grow as well. They were always there for each other. When Sam told Jack that she was accepted into university that she wanted to go to and her mother letting her go but didn't know how to pay for her fees without letting Jacob know.

Sam told her that she got everything covered that she has. When Jack has some time off he went to the university to pay for Sam fees, everything for her. Which she thanks him for?

Week before Sam and her mum was due to leave for the university with Sam things. Sam got a phone call

"Hello"

"Hello is there a Samantha Carter there?"

"Specking"

"Oh I'm Jerry Brown, Mrs O'Connor lawyer"

"Oh Hi is everything ok?"

"Miss Carter Mrs O'Connor left instructions to contact you"

"Why, is she ill?"

"Mrs O'Connor past away this morning" Sam sat down in shock

"Miss Carter are you ok?"

"Yes when the funeral?"

"This Friday, you know which church she went to?"

"Yes, thanks for telling me, I'll tell my family"

"Ok sorry for telling you like this"

"It's ok, thanks" then Sam hung up then she started to cry.

That is how Jacob found her few minutes later when he and the family got home since Mark was at a friends house

"What a matter with you" Sam looked up at her father and stood up

"Why are you crying like a little girl?" Jacob said as he frond at her.

She looked at her brother who got a smirk on his face then to her mum then back to her father

"I got a phone call from a Mr Brown"

"How many times I have I told you not to talk to strangers on the phone Sam" Jacob said in colonel voice so Sam Yelling at him

"Mr Brown is Mrs O'Connor Lawyer"

"Don't you dare yell at me, got to your room" he yelled at her

So she turned around and ran till she got to the top of the stairs and turn around with angry look which the family hasn't seen before

"He called to tell me that Mrs O'Connor past away this morning and the funeral is on Friday"

She yelled and turned and ran to her room slamming her bedroom door. Not seeing the shocked look on their faces

"Ok god no wonder Sam was up set"

She walked up the stairs to Sam room, she opened the door to see Sam crying on her bed. Sam turned to see her mother looking at her.

"Mum I want to go to the funeral"

"Ok I'll make arrangements"

"Thanks… I would like to be left alone"

"Sure" then she closed the door, leaving Sam alone. She cried herself to sleep a few minutes later.

When she woke up and went to the bathroom to relieve herself and wash up then she walked down stairs to get a drink then she returned back to her bedroom noting letting the rest of the family know that was been awake. She changed into her pyjamas then she got into bed and turned off the light and fell asleep.

When she was dreaming, Jack showed up so she started crying again in his arms.

"Hey what wrong Sam" when she pulled back

"Mrs O'Connor past away"

"When?"

"Yesterday morning her lawyer called me and told me what has happened"

"Oh Sam" he hugs her again.

"Do you know when the funeral is?"

"It at the 'St Joseph's Catholic Church' at 'San Antonio'"

"Ok are you going to it?"

"I hope so"

"I hope so to Sam"

They talk till their time was up they both hugs then feel asleep, and then they woke up. Sam felt a lot better after talking with Jack and knowing everything is going to be ok. When she saw her mum hour later she was in the kitchen, Jacob was at work and Mark was with his friends for the day.

"Morning Sam"

"Morning mum"

"How are you feeling this morning?"

"Better I told Jack about what happened yesterday and we both talk and he comforts me while we were talking"

"That good to know, do you know if he is going to be at the funeral?"

"Don't know, he said that he might be away on a mission"

"Ok, well you and I are going, Mark doesn't want to go"

"Ok so when are we leaving?"

"Early Friday morning and we will be returning the next day"

"Ok where are we staying?"

"We are staying at the 'knights inn at lackland air force base'"

"Ok" Sam got herself some breakfast and sat down at the table talking to her mum while she was having her breakfast.

"Sam after breakfast, why don't we go out and make it a mother, daughter day"

"And do what?" he mum smile at her and put her coffee cup down while looking at her daughter

"Go shopping" Sam eyes lit up

"Sound good to me" she said smiling

"Ok after you finish your breakfast we shall go into town for the day"

"Ok" they talk till Sam finishes her breakfast and clean her plate and teeth before leaving since she was wearing braces. When ready they went into town and did some shopping.
