Synopsis: After Padme and Jar Jar are captured whilst searching for a secret bio-weapons facility, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Vaessa and Ahsoka attempt to free them.
Battle droids on Naboo.
As the Separatist rebellion rages through the galaxy,
Even peaceful planets are threatened.
Following the discovery of Separatist droids wandering the grassy wasteland,
Naboo is once again on high alert.
Fearing their home is facing another invasion,
Senator Amidala and Representative Binks race to Naboo to assess the situation.
Meanwhile, near the Gungan swamplands, an Even graver threat is about to be discovered.
"So, what's the mission again?" Ahsoka asked.
"Battle droids were spotted on the plains of Naboo," I informed her. "Their Senator Amidala wanted to investigate, but the Chancellor thought it would be best if jedi came instead."
"Senator Amidala..." Ahsoka said thoughtfully. "Is she the one who came to the Malevolence wanting to sign a treaty?"
"Yeah," I answered. "That would be her."
The gunship landed in a hangar. The door opened to reveal a human man and woman along with C3P0 and a gungan.
"General Kenobi, Anakin, we're so glad -" the human male started.
"Where's Senator Amidala?" Anakin interrupted. I exchanged a look with Ahsoka.
"She went to look for the lab," the man replied.
"Big surprise," I muttered to Ahsoka, who giggled.
"And you let go?!" Anakin exclaimed.
"Senator Padme can be very hard to stop once she has made up her mind," C3P0 stated.
"Good point," Anakin admitted. "I know what you mean."
"How?" Ahsoka hissed to me.
"Later," I replied.
"This is Peppi Bow," the man said, gesturing to the gungan. "She was the last person to see them. Padme sent her here for safety."
"Them?" I asked.
"Senator Binks was with her," the man explained.
Ah.
"Theysa looking for the sick-maker," Peppi told us.
"Sick-maker?" Obi-Wan asked.
"Yessa. Theysa something in the waters thatsa making the animals sick."
"Go with the gungan," Anakin instructed, turning to Ahsoka. "See if you can find them."
"You've got it, Master," Ahsoka replied.
"You too, Vaessa," Obi-Wan told me. "We'll need all the help we can get on this one."
I nodded and went after Ahsoka.
…
We rode a shaak to the middle of a forest. "The tracks end here," Ahsoka said.
Suddenly, Peppi seemed to get taller. Fast.
"A scope," I said, bending down. Peppi leapt off it sharpish.
Ahsoka dragged her away from the camera's view. The three of us tried to keep out of the range of the camera, but then Peppi tripped and sent her and Ahsoka flying into the undergrowth.
"Ahsoka!" I hissed.
"Vaer!" Ahsoka's head popped up from behind a log followed by Peppi's.
"Get down!" I told them. I jumped behind the tree next to them to get out of the camera's view.
We stayed there until nightfall. "Vaer?" Ahsoka asked.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Why does my master seem so concerned about Senator Amidala?"
I sighed. "I'll tell you what I know, which isn't much." Ahsoka nodded. "The senator helped take Anakin from his home planet back when she was queen. I don't know why, but I think whatever Anakin left behind was real bad, and it had something to do with the Hutts. Anyway, whenever I've seen them together, the two were pretty much inseparable."
"You think they're romantically involved?" Ahsoka asked, widening her eyes.
I shrugged. "Maybe. I don't know."
I turned towards the Shaak - or where it used to be. "The shaak's gone!" I hissed.
"What?" Peppi Bow exclaimed, causing Ahsoka to clap her hand over her mouth.
It suddenly appeared, bounding over to Peppi. She stroked its snout.
Ahsoka took out a bomb. "Permission to use this?" she asked, smirking.
I nodded. "Go ahead."
Ahsoka sent the bomb over the clearing with the force. Unfortunately, a scope stuck out of the shrubbery just in front of it, blocking its path.
"Back, back!" I hissed. Ahsoka pulled the droid back in our direction, hiding it just behind a bush. She tried again, this time making it as far as a puddle. Three scopes stuck out on either side of the puddle. "Now!" I said, and Ahsoka dropped the bomb, activating it.
We dived backwards. Gunships began to come in across the skies towards the bomb site.
"Meesa come too?" Peppi asked.
"No," I replied. "It's too dangerous."
"And you have to stay here and make sure no-one escapes," Ahsoka added.
We ran over to the hole in the ground, jumping in and deflecting blaster shots. We managed to cut down all the droids in our sector. "Forward! Come on!" Rex ordered.
More droids emerged at the end of the tunnel. "Fall back!" I called.
"We can't hold them!" Ahsoka grunted.
There was a low rumbling. As we watched, a piece of the ceiling came down on the droids. Once the ash had cleared, we looked up to see none other than Obi-Wan Kenobi standing on the wreckage.
"Master!" I said happily.
"Need some help?" he asked.
"Good to see you, Master Kenobi," Ahsoka told him.
"Good to see you too, Ahsoka, Vaessa," my master replied.
More droids appeared at the end of the corridor. "We've got company!" Rex yelled.
The droids chased us along the corridor. "Things are going well," my master announced. "The lab is secure, and hopefully Anakin has reached Padme by now!"
We turned a corner to find yet more droids marching to us. "I'll get the bombs," Obi-Wan said, running down the only clear passageway.
"We'll keep the droids occupied!" Ahsoka reassured him, and we ran towards the droids, our forces splitting in half.
We managed to cut a hole in the droids and ran down the corridor. "Ahsoka, we've got another situation," Anakin said on Ahsoka's comlink. "Send all the clones to search the facility. We've got a miss-" we ran into each other on a crossroad.
"Master?" Ahsoka asked in surprise.
"We've got a missing bomb and a trigger-happy mad doctor on the loose," Anakin explained.
"A missing bomb?" I asked worriedly. "I thought Obi-Wan was supposed to be dealing with them?"
"Yeah well, this one was gone before he got there," Anakin replied.
"I saw Dr. Vindi give a little droid a bomb," the senator said.
"You guys split up," Anakin ordered. "Find that droid."
Him and all of his squad apart from the Senator and Representative Binks ran through one of the two clear corridors.
"You heard him. Let's move," Ahsoka ordered, and we ran through the final corridor.
"Ahsoka, I found the final bomb," the senator informed us through Ahsoka's comlink. She smiled at me before diverting her attention to the senator. "Stay there. We'll get the bomb squad."
"Why does everyone contact you?" I asked, laughing.
"Because I'm likeable," she answered. We ran to find the senator.
She was in a conservatory with Representative Binks. "Senator!" Ahsoka called, obviously relieved.
"We have the bomb squad," I told them.
The senator handed me the bomb, which I handed to a bomb specialist.
After a little fiddling around, he cried "Got it! And plenty of time to spare."
We breathed out in relief.
"Ahsoka, are you there?" Anakin asked from Ahsoka's comlink.
"I'm here, Master. The bomb has been deactivated. Did you find Vindi?"
"Deactivated as well," Anakin replied. "Have you seen Padme?"
I grinned. "She's standing right next to me," Ahsoka answered. "Me and Vaer are okay too. Thanks for asking." She switched off the comlink.
"Me and Jar Jar will go check for remaining bombs," the senator said.
I smiled at Ahsoka. "Looks like our luck is finally taking a turn for the better."
Famous last words.
