Synopsis: After being dragged into a mysterious object and finding themselves trapped in a land rich in the force, Anakin must choose between his destiny or his friends.
Mysterious message!
A transmission has been intercepted far beyond the Outer Rim,
Deep in the crelythiumn system.
Why the call has been made and from where cannot be established.
But buried in the message is a Jedi distress code that has not been used in over 2, 000 years.
Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and their padawans Ahsoka and Vaessa are sent to investigate.
Fearing a separatist trap,
They are to meet with a heavily armed Jedi cruiser.
"Rex... Rex, do you read me?" Anakin asked. "We're at the rendezvous point awaiting your arrival. Where are you?"
"Sir, we are at the rendezvous point and there's no sign of you on our scanners," Rex informed him.
"Oh, come on," Anakin scoffed. "That's impossible." He turned to face us. "Something's wrong. We're at the exact coordinates where the distress signal originated, but there's nothing here. Rex is at the exact same coordinates and he's not here."
"This is getting interesting," Obi-Wan commented.
"Does it ever not?" I wondered. Ahsoka laughed.
"Unable to find you," Rex told us. "Where are you, sir?"
The ship powered down. "Okay, that's just creepy," I commented.
"Not good," Obi-Wan corrected me.
"Everything's dead, even the life support," Ahsoka said.
"Hmm, this is really strange," Anakin said.
The shuttle powered up again. "There," Obi-Wan said, obviously relieved. "See? Nothing to be concerned about after all."
"Then what's that?" Ahsoka asked, pointing ahead. To my shock and honestly just absolute confusion, there was a giant bronze diamond looming in front of us.
"It's pulling us towards it," Ahsoka told us. The diamond opened to reveal a bright white light. We did indeed begin to move towards it.
"Everyone, strap yourselves in," Obi-Wan said nervously. "Looks as though we're going for a ride."
"Understatement of the century," I muttered.
As the light got closer, I got fainter, and next thing I knew was that I was waking up from some sort of sleep inside the cockpit. "Everyone okay?" I asked, stretching.
"I must have blacked out," Anakin said sleepily. I woke up fully to see he was still in the pilot seat.
"Then who landed the shuttle?" I asked.
"Not me," Ahsoka said.
"Where are we?" Anakin asked.
"Some kind of organic mass," Ahsoka answered. "All of our readings indicate that it's bigger than an asteroid. But at least the atmosphere is breathable."
"Well, this is getting more unusual by the minute," Obi-Wan said. "I can't even lock down where in the galaxy we are... or if we are even in our own galaxy."
"Well, the ship's systems seem fine but for whatever reason, nothing's working," Anakin said.
We got off the ship. "Hey!" Ahsoka said. "I saw something. A reflection, up on the hill."
"I don't see anything," Obi-Wan said, looking through his binoculars.
I did too, and all I saw were hills. Beautiful hills, sure, but just hills. "Me neither," I told her. "You sure you're feeling okay?"
"What the... what?" Anakin said suddenly. "Did you hear that?"
"I didn't hear anything," Obi-Wan said.
"Are you the one?" We all heard it this time. We turned around to see a woman standing before us. She was unlike any woman I've ever seen, with flowing mint green hair and picturesque white skin and a glowing complexion.
"Hello," Obi-Wan greeted.
"Who are you?" Anakin asked.
"I am daughter," the woman told us. "Are you the one?"
"Uh... the one what?" Anakin asked.
"I will take you to him," she said decidedly.
"Him, who?" Ahsoka asked.
"Can you help us?" I asked.
"Only he can help you," 'Daughter' informed us. "There is little time. Follow me. We must have shelter by nightfall." And she left.
"And we thought the planet was strange," Anakin said. "How about this one?"
"We'll be fine as long as we stay together," Obi-Wan reasoned. We began to follow 'daughter'.
"Have you noticed the seasons seem to change with the time of day?" Obi-Wan asked as we wandered around the side of a mountain.
"Yeah," Anakin agreed.
"And there are no animals," Ahsoka mentioned.
"And you sense it?" Obi-Wan asked Anakin.
"Mm-hmm, since we arrived," Anakin responded. "The force is very strong."
"An intersection unlike anything I've ever felt before," Obi-Wan said. "Be wary."
"Excuse me," Anakin asked 'daughter'. "Who are you taking us to?"
"The father, of course," 'daughter' replied.
"Of course," Anakin grumbled.
"And what exactly are you?" Obi-Wan asked.
"We are the ones who guard the power," 'daughter' said cryptically. "We are the middle, the beginning, and the end."
"Glad she cleared that up for us," Anakin grumbled.
There was a rumbling sound. "Hey!" Anakin called. "Look out!"
We jumped out the way just in time to avoid the rockslide. "Everyone okay?" I asked between coughs.
"Yeah," Ahsoka said. No-one else.
I walked over to the ledge to see my very own master hanging off it. "You okay, master?" I asked, me and Ahsoka pulling him up.
"Yes, Vaessa, I'm okay," my master told me. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," Ahsoka said.
"Where's Anakin?" I asked.
"We must have gotten separated," Obi-Wan said. "The daughter's nowhere to be found, either. Anakin, are you there?" He asked into his comlink. "Are you all right?"
"Yeah," Anakin sighed. "But our friend here has run off! Go back to the ship and try sending another distress call. I'll follow her and find out how to get off this rock."
"And if this is a trap?" Obi-Wan asked.
"Then I'm not gonna wait around to find out," Anakin answered.
"Anakin, stop!" Obi-Wan ordered. "Wait for us to find another way around and meet you. Anakin?" No reply. "So reckless and impatient."
"He'll find her," Ahsoka reassured him.
"Yes, and what else?" Obi-Wan asked.
The sky rumbled. "Storm's coming," Ahsoka commented.
"Let's get back," I said uneasily.
...
"The ship's gone," Ahsoka said, stunned. Sure enough, the place were the shuttle had been was empty.
"Yes, I see that," Obi-Wan snapped.
"It was here, no question," I said uncertainly.
"And look," Ahsoka said, gesturing to the ground. "Everything's dying." Indeed, the plants were shrivelling up and dying.
"Did you lose something?" a voice asked. We whipped around to see a tall man with grey skin and black and red eyes. Not good. "You didn't do as you were asked."
"And what was that?" Obi-Wan asked.
"My sister said to wait!" the thing said.
"Did she now?" Obi-Wan asked irritably. "Well, we were unfortunately separated. We'd like our ship back if you don't mind."
"Not... yet," he said through gritted teeth. He leant in, his odd face suddenly looking eager. "Is it true that he is the chosen one?"
At that, all four of us drew our lightsabers. "What do you know of such things?" Obi-Wan asked.
"What is about to happen shall occur whether you like it or not," the thing hissed. He waved a hand and our lightsabers turned off.
"You are sith," Obi-Wan said, pointing at the thing.
"Sith?" he asked, chuckling. "Yes... and no," he said. "The storms here are quite lethal. If you want to live, I suggest you find shelter." And with that, he changed into a gargoyle and flew off.
"What in the universe was that?" Ahsoka asked.
"Beats me," I said, shrugging.
"Quick," Obi-Wan said, gesturing to a cave entrance. "There's a cave over there."
We hurried inside. "We'd better get some rest," Obi-Wan said.
"Agreed," I said, lying down. I managed to get to sleep rather quickly, but my dreams were far from restful.
I woke up. I was in the cave, but I couldn't see Obi-Wan or Ahsoka. I shakily got up. "Master?" I called. "Ahsoka?" My foot hit something wet and I looked down. To my surprise, there was an orange mural of a sort of bird on the floor. It definitely wasn't there before.
"Sabine's going to have your head."
I whipped around. A girl was standing beside me, her head bent towards the mural. She had curly blonde hair like mine, but hers was darker and partly tied back, partly loose. She was wearing a what looked like a jedi tunic, but it was unlike any tunic I'd ever seen. The undertunic was grey, with white cloth tied around the torso in a sort of vest. It was held in place by a brown belt, where two white lightsabers were hanging. She was wearing a transparent blue apron backwards, the two front ribbons held in place by her belt. She seemed slightly vague, like new padawans, though she was closer to Anakin's age than Ahsoka's. "She made that," she continued. "Beautiful, isn't it? Though I expect you've probably never seen one of those birds."
"I'm sorry, who are you?" I asked.
She turned to face me, peering at me with doe brown eyes. They seemed somehow familiar. "Lera," she said cautiously. "You?"
"Vaessa," I told her. "Vaessa Orin."
A flicker of recognition passed through her eyes. "And your companions?" she asked with a level of urgency.
"Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi," I said. I wasn't completely sure why I was answering all her questions, but I was.
"They're here?" she asked in shock. "Where?"
"You tell me," I said.
She frowned. "I'm sorry, what?"
"You took them, didn't you?" I asked. "You took them to the son."
"No," Lera said, looking somewhat insulted. "We arrived here only a couple hours before you did."
"We?" I asked.
She nodded. "Me, Sabine, Ezra and..." she trailed off. "I probably shouldn't tell you that."
"Tell me what?" I asked. She didn't answer. "Who are you?"
She looked at me, a pained look in her eyes. "We're your future," she told me.
"My future?" I asked. "You don't seem like me."
She shook her head. "I'm not. Me and my friends are the future of the entire galaxy, you included."
"The future..." I shook my head. "I'm sorry, where - when - are you from?"
She smiled softly. "Twenty-nine years after your time."
"Vaer?" someone was shaking me. "Vaer?"
"Yeah?" I asked, opening my eyes to see Ahsoka and my master's worried faces.
"Obi-Wan had a vision," Ahsoka said. "We think Anakin may be in trouble."
…
We were climbing through the bracken when sunset happened. "The longer we stay here, the stranger this place gets," Ahsoka muttered.
"It seems like the planet is renewing herself," I observed.
"What about master Skywalker?" Ahsoka asked.
"Anakin will not be easy to deceive," Obi-Wan told her.
I heard a loud screech from behind me. A gargoyle and a griffin swooped up from behind us, scooping up Ahsoka and Obi-Wan. They didn't seem to care about me.
"This place just gets keeps getting weirder," I muttered, running after my friends.
The birds lead me to a stadium of a sort. Once I had gotten to the entrance, Ahsoka and Obi-Wan came out. "Okay, what just happened?" I asked.
"We're fine," Obi-Wan reassured me. "Anakin should be coming out in a minute."
"You found Anakin?" I asked.
"They bought us up here," a familiar voice said from behind them. I looked past them to see Anakin Skywalker walking from the entrance.
"Bought you here?" I asked. "To do what?"
"Never mind," Anakin said, looking around. "I just wanna get off this rock."
"Never agreed with you more," I said.
Me: Remember, no asking awkward questions, no telling stuff no-one knows yet, and no, NO, using my real name.
Vaessa: Good. Got it.
Me: Okay then... *clears throat* hello everyone, my name is Stubbornoreo101 (I'm working on a better name) and I am the Narrator of Dawn of Darkness.
Vaessa: Hold on, aren't I the Narrator? It's my story.
Me: Yes Vaessa, Dawn of Darkness is your story, and it is first-person narrative. But I write it down and translate it from Basic to English. And I control what comes next in your life.
Vaessa: And what about Ahsoka and my master? Do you control their lives too?
Me: Eh... not exactly. I... meddle with their lives, so to speak. I only fully control a select few.
Vaessa: So how can you tell who to control and who to just meddle with?
Me: That counts as asking an awkward question.
Vaessa: Uhh... why?
Me: I can't tell you that!
Vaessa: Why not?
Me: Because... because... I just can't, okay?
Vaessa: Fine. Touché. Anyway, see you next chapter!
Me: *touches Vaessa's forehead*
Vaessa: *goes to sleep*
Me: Don't worry, she won't remember any of this next chapter. ;)
