Synopsis: Anakin is caught in a struggle between the light and dark sides of the force; the Jedi prepare for a confrontation.
Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and their Padawans Ahsoka Tano and Vaessa Orin are caught in the middle of a treacherous battle between good and evil.
The scales now tipped toward the dark side, our three warriors must guard against attack as they plan their escape.
A great weight has been placed on Anakin's shoulders,
For it is now that he must face who he really is.
"Well, you want the bad news... or the really bad news?" Ahsoka asked, poking her head out of the engine compartment.
"Well, let's try the bad news, laced with a little optimism," Obi-Wan replied.
"We've got two cracked shilo pins, a busted power converter, the engines should be fired twice to dump debris, and the backup vents need charging," Ahsoka said.
"Sounds terribly downbeat," Obi-Wan commented. "Can it be fixed?"
"I can reroute the primary initiator, weld the dampening vents, and that might give us enough power to leave the atmosphere," Ahsoka answered. "After that, I have no guarantees she'll hold together."
"We'll take our chances," Obi-Wan replied. "Better than staying here."
Anakin got up, turning towards the exit. "Where are you going?" I asked.
"To see the father," Anakin answered. "I'm not convinced that the son will be contained here without our help. Perhaps we should make a stand."
"Anakin..." Obi-Wan said pleadingly.
"If I don't get the father it'll haunt me forever," Anakin said.
…
Anakin was in a sort of... well of lava. The son was standing behind him as he screamed. "I will not look!" he cried, his hands on his eyes. But eventually, he dropped them to see whatever the black smoke was showing him. I couldn't see it, but I could hear it.
"Anakin-" the senator's voice cried before being cut off.
"You were my brother, Anakin!" Obi-Wan's voice cried.
"A powerful sith you will become," a shrivelled, evil voice emitted.
"I don't even recognize you anymore!" someone - a girl - called in disgust. I realized with a shock that the girl was me.
"Who are you?" a tearful female voice asked. It seemed oddly familiar.
"I won't leave you!" an older Ahsoka called.
"I hate you!" Anakin's own voice yelled in anger.
I woke up sweating. "Vaessa?" Obi-Wan asked, shocked.
I snapped my neck around to look at him. "Where's Anakin?" I asked.
"He went to look for the father," Obi-Wan reminded me. "Remember?"
"I need to speak to him," I said urgently.
"The father's outside," Obi-Wan said uncertainly. "I was just about to go talk to him."
"The father's here?" I asked, sitting up straight.
"Yes," Obi-Wan answered. "What do you -" but I had already left.
The father was indeed standing outside the ship. "Hello," I said.
He turned around. "Vaessa Orin. You have had a vision, haven't you?"
I nodded. "About Anakin. He's gone after the son, hasn't he?"
The father sighed. "Deep within this planet all that is dark is channelled. He has followed the son there."
"And how do I get there?" I asked.
"You cannot interfere," the father replied.
"The way I see it, if we were not supposed to interfere, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka and me wouldn't be here in the first place," I countered.
He frowned at me. "You were not meant to be here. Your place in the universe is only the result of a mistaken Jedi's foolhardy choice."
"Yeah, well I'm a part of it now," I said. I turned to the others. "Look after the ship. I'm going to find Anakin."
"I'm coming with you," Obi-Wan said immediately.
I smiled. "I'd be disappointed if you weren't."
...
"Anakin, are you all right?" Obi-Wan asked, walking towards a kneeling Anakin.
"You will not understand what I have to do to end the clone war," Anakin snarled. He turned around, revealing dark shadows underneath his blue eyes. He used the force to throw us into a wall, leaving us hanging onto a ledge by only our fingertips.
"Anakin, why?" I asked.
"I'm sorry," Anakin said. "I have seen that it is the Jedi who will stand in the way of peace."
"He's mine now," the son cackled. The two flew off. I wasn't completely sure what I'd seen in my vision, but I knew I didn't like it, and Anakin even less.
"Ahsoka, come in, please," I begged into my comlink. "Can you hear me? Ahsoka!"
"Yes, Vaer," Ahsoka's voice said. "Any success with Anakin?"
"No," I told her. "No, sorta the opposite."
"Vaer... What are you saying?" Ahsoka said uncertainly.
"Anakin has joined the son," I explained. "Don't engage him."
"But..." Ahsoka protested.
"Just do as I say," I told her. I normally wouldn't give Ahsoka an order, but this was dire circumstances.
"Ahsoka, listen to me," Obi-Wan ordered. "You have to disable the ship."
"But I just finished putting it back together," Ahsoka complained.
"Ahsoka, please listen," Obi-Wan said. "We have to prevent Anakin and the son from leaving."
"Yes, master," Ahsoka said, shutting the comlink off.
...
"What took you so long?" Obi-Wan asked annoyedly, jumping onto the speeder.
"Here," Ahsoka said. "I did as you said. The shuttle's going nowhere without that."
"Good, that gives us some time to rescue Anakin," I said, following my master.
"I can't make contact with anybody," Ahsoka said gravely. "I don't think anyone will hear my signal."
"We'll have to do this alone," Obi-Wan said, and we went to find Anakin.
He was at the monastery where Ahsoka nearly (nearly, Narrator) died, the father standing beside him. When I looked closer, I saw the shadows underneath his eyes were gone. The father had cured him.
"Master!" Ahsoka called, and Anakin turned to see us.
"Hey, Anakin," I said, running up to him.
"Are you all right?" Obi-Wan asked.
"I think so, but we must stop the son once and for all," Anakin replied.
"We have little time," the father said gravely. "You'll get only one chance. You know what you must do."
I frowned. What? But just then, none other than the son flew down to greet us. "How quaint, my own personal send-off," he said.
"I ask you one last time," the father said. "Do not leave, my son."
"You have no power to keep me, old man," the son sneered. "You must understand by now, this planet is not my destiny."
"What you will do will destroy all that is good," the father pleaded. "I beg you, restrain yourself and stay."
"I cannot," the son snarled.
"And then it shall be," the father said. "I love you, my son."
"Do you?" the son asked dangerously. Anakin activated his lightsaber and swung at the son. He blocked all of Anakin's slashes and held him by the throat. Me, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka all drew our lightsabers as the son threw Anakin to the side. He took our lightsabers from us using the force, and then used it to push us away. The father used the son's being distracted to use the force to seize the dagger from his belt using the force.
"What?" the son chuckled. "You're going to kill me now?"
"I held hope that you could resist the dark side," the father told his son gravely. "But I see now, there is no going back." To my horror, he positioned the lightsaber in front of his heart.
"Father," the son whispered in realization.
He drew the blade into his chest.
"No!" the son cried, running to his father. "What have you done? It did not have to be this way."
"Yes, my child, it did," the father said sadly. "You and I are tied together, runs through me. This way, I take your power.
"Please, don't die," the son begged.
"I always knew there was good in you,"v the father said softly.
Anakin drew his lightsaber and shoved it through the son's chest. He gasped, looking at his father in shock, but the father's expression did nor exhibit any surprise. The father's plan began to register in the mind of the son. "And so you have betrayed me, father." He fell, his body cold and broken. Dead.
"It is done," the father sighed. "And now I die, my heart broken, the role you will play."
"And what is that?" Anakin asked.
"You are the chosen one," the father explained. "You have brought balance to this world. Stay on this path, and you will do it again for the galaxy. But beware your... heart." he fell beside the body of his son.
A white light travelled up the tower to ignite the crystal on top. We watched as the world of Mortis was engulfed in the same bright light, and we lost consciousness.
…
"General Skywalker, come in!" A clone's voice said. I opened my eyes to see the inside of the Twilight.
"We read you, Rex," Anakin replied. I turned to see him sitting in the pilot seat, and behind him where the stars of the galaxy. We got out. "Can you hear me?"
"Yes, sir, standing by," Rex said. "We were worried. You were off the scopes there for a moment."
"A moment?" Anakin asked, amused. I was smiling too. "We've been gone more than a moment, Rex."
"Sir, I don't understand," Rex said uncertainly. "You'll need to explain."
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you," Anakin said. "We're coming in now."
Me: So, yeah. How're things?
Vaessa: Alive. And out of Mortis, which is definitely a plus. But something's still bugging me...
Me: What?
Vaessa: What did Anakin's vision mean?
Me: I really can't tell you that.
Vaessa: Why did I know you were going to say that?
Me: *shrugs* I dunno.
Vaessa: *laughs* Okay, seriously, what did Anakin's vision mean?
Me: You'll see in due course.
Vaessa: *alarmed* So it'll happen?
Me: I never said that.
Vaessa: No, but you implied it!
Me: *touches Vaessa's forehead*
Vaessa: *blinks* Uh, what was I saying again?
Me: Memory control isn't just for the ends of chapters, folks.
Vaessa: What?
Me: Nothing. So, are you going to say bye to the viewers or what?
Vaessa: Fine, fine. Bye, see you next chapter!:)
