Chapter 19: Musings of a Super-villain
Undisclosed Location: (Japan)
All for One watched the footage with amusement, 'This worked out even better than I expected. All in all the experiment was a success. While I don't know the exact mechanics or what that quirk actually is without a closer examination, the evidence is undeniable. Even better the 9th Holder has been thoroughly broken.'
He checked to make sure that he had managed to get the archival footage from when Midoriya had first arrived on I-Island and other moments where he'd been observed by security cameras to review later for possible ideas for triggering future relapses. 'Young Tomura was right on the money on just where to hit him,' the villain grinned, 'Of course, this sets up numerous alternatives for when All Might is no more.' He heard footsteps coming up behind him, "Ah Doctor, it certainly is a pleasant evening."
"Of course master," the doctor replied, "Your little experiment going as planned?"
"Of course, though I won't know for sure unless we acquire young Izuku for further study," All for One sighed, "Unfortunate, since that would certainly up the difficulty."
"Why?" the Doctor asked, "I mean after all we could always study his dead body, and if you are that interested in the specimen we could always create a clone so you have a blank slate, now that you know his potential."
"I thought cloning was a delicate process, particularly when you're trying to accelerate their aging?"
"It is, and no matter what they never come out exactly the same as the original," the Doctor sighed, "At least not yet."
"It would be something to tempt the Aoyama family into further cooperation..."
"I thought you were done with them?"
"Not at all, why do you think I informed them that I had the incompetent idiot that killed their son put down like a rabid animal he was," All for One folded his hands together, "However, it is fortunate we have another source of information."
"Indeed, how is Tomura progressing?"
"Quite well," All for One turned his attention to the monitors again and sighed, "Well it seems Wolfram will need to be rescued..."
"Midoriya?"
"No, I believe the one known as Tokoyami will probably take him down, but that's what one gets when you can't run an experiment in a controlled environment, pity."
"Now I see why you mentioned an increase in difficulty," the Doctor's mustache twitched, "You want a live specimen, I would suggest a clone would be a more practical alternative, while I probably cannot recreate 'One for All,' much of the power revolves around a stockpiling quirk."
"An intriguing proposition," All for One mused giving a chilling smile, one that if the Doctor hadn't been so used to it, he would have had a chill down his spine, "I could create a quirk that would allow a clone to match young Izuku's strength and speed and have those abilities grow over time. You could accelerate its learning and it would be a perfect addition for Tomura's little party. Even better, either young Izuku will lose or having to kill his 'twin' will likely break him."
"Fascinating, and here I thought you would actually value..."
"Doctor, I highly doubt young Izuku has it in him to kill someone..."
"I've read the copy of that Volume of his analyses of quirks, in my opinion he's more than capable," the Doctor admonished All for One, "I don't want you getting killed this time instead of those injuries from All Might."
"Really Doctor, if he did, don't you think he would have killed Wolfram or some of his underlings," All for One chuckled, "I should clarify though, what I meant to say is I don't believe young Izuku would purposefully kill someone."
"If you say so..."
All for One turned his attention to the monitor again and grinned again, "I suppose the time for my second confrontation with All Might is drawing near, do you think you could keep an eye on Tomura while I spectate for a while?"
"Ah you mean Plan 27 then?"
"Of course."
"You mean to kill All Might then?"
"Not at all, while I have a contingency for it Plan 27b to precise, I believe it is far better if he remains alive for now, only helpless to do anything," the villain chuckled, "It will enable us to know who has 'One for All,' the fall and sidelining of All Might will set the stage for the next part of my plans."
On one monitor was a bloodied All Might cradling a sobbing Midoriya, trying to assure the boy that 'Everything would be okay and it was all over,' All for One however had other plans, and his plans would come to fruition one way or another.
Top floor of I-Island Central Tower:
All Might was inwardly seething at the comment that Wolfram had made as he was dragged away in young Midoriya's presence, the boy had managed to avoid completely breaking down in front of Wolfram, but then fell apart as soon as the mercenary had been taken away. 'All for One had to have been behind his mother's murder.'
"A-all M-might, I-I'm..."
"Hush young Midoriya, there is nothing for you to feel sorry for, most people would be in far worse shape than you are right now," he assured him while still holding his Muscle-form, "It's all over your mother's killer has been caught, and he will be brought to justice."
"O-okay."
All Might noticed that Midoriya's fellow classmates were there, "I won't say the pain will ever go away, but it will lessen over time," he looked over at the others, "What happened to young Midoriya could just as easily happen to any one of you, while most Villains these days will not target a hero's family, at least in Japan, there are always those that want to make a name for themselves. Additionally, you will likely have to deal with grieving family members of those you failed to save, remember young heroes, this is not a game."
All Might inwardly grinned as the students acknowledged they heard him and turned his attention back to the boy that he had originally just chosen as a successor and grew to view him as a son, that he had never taken the risk to have, given All for One's tendency to target families. 'I haven't told you yet, young Midoriya, but I submitted the paperwork to adopt you and take custody of young Mineta before I came here.' In the back of his mind, Sir Nighteye's prediction reared its ugly head, 'At least for as long as I have left, that is.'
Notes:
I came up with this chapter based on an idea I threw out there from an earlier comment I made in response to dannythebookworm on Archive of Our Own. Will there be clones entering into the mix? I haven't decided yet.
